    Thanks Kent, between you, Kelsey, and the rowdies at TFL, I like this truck. I feel that in their goal to be a heavy-half they looked more at the heavy. Maybe for my needs the eco Ram or 2.8 Duramax would be a better filler vehicle between our Jeep and Ram 2500HD. I loved watching Kelsey handle that goose trailer. She is a keeper! Wayne

    Just bought a 2017 S.L. 4×4 Cummins. The review's I liked is the fact the motor is de tuned for longevity and mileage.

    It's actually two discrete turbochargers as part of one assembly.
    If you look at the holset demonstration the low pressure and high pressure turbochargers are identified. This is a series/sequential arrangement.

    This looks like a ford to me, I do not drive the newest vehicles every year though. After watching a 2019 video then now watching this one, Kelsey looks so young, no disrespect or anything and I am not creeping in her as my daughters her age would kill me if I did. But just that 3 years makes such a difference in my daughters and I see it in Kelsey also. Very smart young lady, excellent driver. You 2 are very good together doing the vehicle review. Be Safe.

      actually Ford has the best tow rating in the class for for payload and torque. the F250 can tow up to a max 18,500 pounds. the Ram is the second best at 18,000 pounds, and Silverado 2500HD is 3rd for 17,500 pounds.

    everyone complaining about the 60 grand msrp. You can buy these trucks all day for under 50k new loaded. or you can buy a 3 year old big 3 heavy duty with 40k miles for the same price. 60 grand is the msrp and the chevy's and dodge's are will over 70 grand new msrp. quit complaing its priced right in the middle of a half ton and 3/4

    I finally watched all your informative videos on the Titan XD. Thank you. How does the construction of the gooseneck below the bed compare with aftermarket versions of gooseneck hitches ?? I see one vendor that has a gooseneck hitch that you can just leave in place and flip upside down when you need it. Our local Nissan dealer has a 4x4 Titan XD Platinum Reserve for only $ 64,185.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому

      +David Locklear Thanks, from what I can tell, the Titan gooseneck is a Reece Signature series like Ford. Actually the same ball as Ford that will fit Ram factory hitches also. I'm a fan of B&W and Popup where you pull a lever in the fender well and flip the ball over. No bag of greasy ball under your seat.

    • @tigerking9742
      @tigerking9742 8 років тому

      +David Locklear What state are you in? I have seen a Platinum Reserve offered for $10,000 less then that here in Ga. I think you should be able to find them for less than MSRP, especially if the dealer has discounts on it like this one does. I think they discounted $4,000 dollars, so still under $60,000 for the top end model.

    • @joshuacornell6667
      @joshuacornell6667 8 років тому

      +Tiger King, price depends on shipping cost which is based on distance from factory it was assembled so the farther it travels the more it costs, but as you said also on dealers own discounts.

    I have a 2016 Nissan XD Platinum Reserve 5.0 turbo diesel 4x4. I have my Class A and am looking at putting it on as a hotshot. We scaled it on a CAT scale and it scaled (full of fuel) right around 7800 pounds. I would like to get a gooseneck for stability and weight distribution. What is the maximum amount of cargo I can carry? I am looking at a 25+5 gooseneck. I am not sure what they weigh on average, but was hoping that you would know and be able to help me. Stupid that I can tell you axle weights and bridge weights on a semi but cannot for the life of me figure out how to make the formula work on a pickup and trailer. Any help would be appreciated. Last thing I need is to get a DOT violation for being overweight. (Bought that t-shirt in my semi.) Thanks a million!

    How many miles have you driven the truck ? What is the longest you have idled the engine ? Have you added D.E.F. yet ? The old Titan had a moonroof option. Will this have a moonroof option ? How does this 6 speed transmission compare to what the other trucks are offering ? My opinion is that a $ 60,000 truck should have a lock on the hatch to the fuel inlet. How would you add an exhaust brake ? As of January 16, 2016, I could not find any aftermarket accessories readily available for this truck. I presume there is someway to rewire the gooseneck connection to put it in the bed ?? if so, what would that cost ?

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому +1

      +David Locklear That's alot of questions. I drove at least 500 miles in 3 states. I don't have to add DEF, the fleet people do that. 6-speed shifted well in the power band but very little grade shifting going down hill, disappointed there. The turbo has an waste gate to relieve pressure. Cummins told me they could have made the waste gate into an exhaust brake as they did to the 5.0L diesel in motorhomes.

  • @4x4le
    @4x4le 8 років тому

    I get so many mixed answers/opinions to this question but maybe you can answer it... Does the 26,000 lbs you can tow legally with a normal license take the gvwr of the truck plus the gvwr of the trailer regardless of if you are actually loaded to that weight? Im under the impression that since my gvwr is 9800lbs and my dads trucks is 10000 lbs it would be illegal for us to move a empty trailer over 16,000 gvwr.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому

      +Brandon 26K is combined weight rating of the truck and trailer which is under 26k for the Titan XD. You just need to look up the GCWR of your truck. Axle rating is part of the equation after you find your GCWR.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому

      +Brandon 24k

    • @4x4le
      @4x4le 8 років тому

      So your combined weight rating has to be well over 26k. This is what I am trying to understand.

    • @MrTruckTV
      @MrTruckTV  8 років тому

      +Brandon That's a problem, you shouldn't tow trailers with GVW that would exceed your GCWR. And we don't exceed the trucks towing capacity, but I can't buy 20 trailers to have the right GVW for each truck we review. So we keep the total loaded trailer weight below the max. Just like I can't use my DOT number for the media trucks we test and I can't do an annual inspection on the trucks we test. My trailers do have the annual DOT inspection

    • @4x4le
      @4x4le 8 років тому

      Ok so I know you have your cdl, she probably does too, and honestly I couldn't care less if yall didn't and were technically doing it wrong.
      So in my case where my truck and my dads trucks are 9800 and 10,000 the highest gvwr trailer we can legally hook to would be 16k and as long as we dont exceed any axle ratings we would be legal. That is the best I can understand it.
      To me those rules seem kinda silly because my truck as well as his are 2500s and most people wouldnt want to make a habit out of towing 16k lbs with one, they would want to step up to a 3500 however that law would prevent them from hooking to a trailer larger than 13-14k gvrw......
      My feelings are that in fact most people are breaking the law and just get away with it. Most people I talk to seem to think that the ACTUAL WEIGHT of the combined vehicles is what matters and that is what I used to think too but reading the way it is actually written and from talking to some people online it seems that if gvwrs combine to over 26k it is just as bad legal wise as being actually overweight.
      No law should prevent me from moving an empty 24k trailer from my father in laws house to his brothers house but it seems like that is the case. Im looking at getting a non commercial class A so i can start worrying about nothing more than axle ratings but that too seems like a hassle.

      anything else seem effortless. Unlike a normal Trailer the rear axles

      in the 12+ years I have had my Class A CDL and those frac or hydraulic sand trailers I have seen, are nothing more than pneumatic trailers previously hauled cement mix. That side of the hauling industry does not interest me much, as its too dedicated though as well as iit pays, just not my cup of sugar.
      However, hydraulic mud tankers are something else to haul from what I have seen on the road and up close. Fixed axle and heavy weight when loaded, looks more harder to handle if not as hard compared to fuel/ oil or water semi tankers.

      Price in the end depends on Upgrades and Options selected, also colors. So yes it starts in the 50k range and goes up from there, then add on delivery charges and that can take some prices over the 60k up towards the 70k mark for a 5/8 pickup. Then with Dealer on top of Factory or Company discounts also help to keep the price to a minimum, then there i the trade in value on the vehicle you are looking to get rid of at the time you buy. Of course you should obviously already know all of that.
      All in All I rather take that money I would pay for a 5/8 and get a 3/4 or 1 ton for the same price with better hauling. Unless I was only interested in the Nissan then I would not mind paying to get one.

      Joshua Cornell people don't give away cars trucks anymore aka trade in . The dealer wanted to give me 6,400 for a SUV I sold for 14,500 a month later

    I don't like the block front like most domestic vehicles. can barely see over the front and not even a little airodinamics to it. your standard brick on the road.

    This is such a lousy truck. Only 11k towing capacity is a joke for a diesel.

      You can buy a vw golf with a diesel and that doesn't tow much.
      It's not made to compete with a f-350 or likewise and the diesel has nothing to do with the towing limit for this truck.

      +Josh McCarthy Its not that the truck couldn't tow any more than 11k lbs its that way it has to be rated by the government. My guess is the buyers of this truck will tow much more than that and the truck will do just fine. From a legal stand point you should be ok as long as you don't exceed your DL weight limits. This truck compared to a half ton towing 11k lbs will do it with much less effort and more comfortably. Don't get me wrong i'm not a Nissan fan boy as I have a 2014 F150 EcoBoost that is rated to tow more than this truck is rated but I would be a fool to think my F150 is built as heavy duty as this truck never mind the almost commercial grade Cummins Diesel thats in this truck.

      +Josh McCarthy Its not a Heavy Duty truck, thats why it has a lower towing capacity. It would be more than enough towing capacity for most people.
      I have an F250 and it is only rated to pull 12500 on bumper pull so it is not a massive difference.
