Majoras mask is a really dark but in my opinion id say links awakening is more even though majora has more sad parts it ends on a high and happy note while links awakening has a darker and depressing ending and that the impression I was left with in both games
Zelda music is always a win. Ocarina of Time definitely has the most iconic music (apart from the original theme of course), but every single Zelda game has incredible music.
Yeah, Fi's Gratitude/Farewell is still as emotionally powerful as it was back then. Don't know what it is, but slowing down theme songs like that, seems to almost always make them more sadder than they were. Just like the ending credits version of Zelda's Lullaby in OoT.
Grandma's Theme is such a heartbreaking melody. It really makes you appreciate the kind of love only a grandmother can give, and how much you'll miss it when she’s no longer around...
Yep. I remember how bad I felt when I saw that grandma was sick and I was so relieved when I healed her and could tell her that Aryll was alright. But yes it also makes me think of how much I miss my own grandma. She passed 2/16/18 when she was taken off life support and she couldn't breathe...The last time I talked to her was exactly three weeks before on her 85th birthday. At least my last words to her. "Happy birthday. I love you. I know the hospital isn't a good place to spend your birthday but like you always say, 'Better a broken home than one abroad.'" Sorry this is kinda long
@@krishnamckay3247 I am so sorry to hear about your grandma, but I *am* happy she passed away knowing you, and all your family, loved her. My grandma passed away in '07, but I never got to tell her how much I loved her before she left this life. I always think of her and my grandpa, who is also gone. They were amazing and I truly do feel for you. Please know she loves you and is watching you with a smile 💖
@Krishna McKay and @ Melodie Montes, very sorry to hear of your grandparents passings. It’s never easy to lose a loved one. Grandma’s Theme always reminds me of my grandma as well. Which sadly, I didn’t get to say to her how much I loved her either. She passed away in 2005 when I was in 7th grade going into 8th grade. She was only 79 when she passed. She passed from liver and kidney failure brought on by Type 2 Diabetes. My grandpa passed 4 years later on New Years Eve 2009 also from complications of Type 2 Diabetes. He was 92 years old. Diabetes is such a terrible disease. Sadly, my mother has it too. It runs on her side of the family. I worry about her health since she’s getting older. She’ll be 68 this year. My grandparents have been gone all these years, but I still think about them from time to time and wish they were still around. Just goes to show that you should always treasure the time you have with your grandparents, for they won’t be around one day. Though that goes for all your family members. I remember when I played Zelda Windwaker, I couldn’t visit grandma as her theme would always make me depressed. I always felt bad to leave her by herself knowing that she’s worried sick about her grandchildren.
While I may be of the rare few, I LOVED Fi. She was a steadfast companion who was loyal to the end. While the low battery parts were annoying, I didn't really care that much. She truly showed that that the Master Sword was always on your side no matter what. I'll miss you Fi.❤️
Same! She was really helpful which is why I hated Midna. She had character, but she never really HELPED. She just stated the obvious and gave sassy remarks. Typical Twili.
She's the only companion that was there till the end and still is there every time you get the Master Sword. She really meant it when she said "May we meet again in another life"

Zelda’s Lullaby is really sad specially in SS, not the song itself, but when Zelda has to be frozen and Link promise to beat Demise to rescue her, it’s so sad 😞 100% agree with #1, Fi’s departure change the Master Sword forever
I agree, after all the trails Link goes through to catch up to Zelda. She was so close and yet she becomes so distant again. What I find even sadder is that if you replay the game you can look through te crack in the door behind the old lady to see the crystal there, waiting for you
Pranab Mohanty here, I just learned the Song of Healing, it's suppose to heal you so problem shall be solve? *plays Song of Healing* *Pranab cries harder* Oh crapbasket.
What makes it worse is everyone on the island was hoping it wasn't true/dismissing the idea they would all vanish after the events took place. But then the ending didn't sugar coat anything for a happy ending. Straight up it was true, and those people all basically ceased to exist. Talk about a dark ending. Almost makes you wish Link failed on his journey to awaken the Wind Fish
Even now, years later, when I understand that Marin actually DID escape the island (albeit as a seagull), yeah, knowing “I” effectively destroyed a populated island wrecked me as a kid. To this day, I have NEVER tried to play Link’s Awakening again. Nor WILL I. It hurts too much.
The one that made me cry was skyward swords when you find out the old lady that had been helping you all along was present Impa who you left behind in the past.
Juste Nienko I got the game on Thursday last week, and beat the main story already last night. My first divine beast was Ruta and I was sobbing when I saw Miphas story and finding out she died
Out of the zelda games I have played, I am torn between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. I loved how immersive the combat in Skyward Sword was (although I loved how you could perform a taunt at the end of a fight in Twilight Princess), and I loved the environments in Twilight Princess (Skyward Sword was still cool in that regard, but I think it was the overall design and color blend that won me over, it was more spread out and just felt more peaceful, with a looming sense of an obscure, chaotic force).
And so many said that BOTW is the best. They prolly only knew of it only. Sheesh, I may only have the Switch and BOTW being my first actual Zelda experience but I know damn well that Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are either just as good or better.
I think that 'Our Children Taken' from Twilight Princess deserved at least an honorable mention. When you walk into the homes of the parents that are missing children, the song plays and it somehow manages to capture the grief of a parent who lost their child.
100% Twilight Princess incredibly sad and dark. Its OST is just amazing. The part when Midna leaves Hyrule (at the end) also deserved an honorable mention. It was so sad...
The one thing I love about Fi's Theme is that in Breath of the Wild, it shows that after probably 15-20,000 years later, Fi is still alive within the Sword, with the noise it made in Skyward Sword.
Song of healing always gets me emotional. It brings my mind back to when I was 14 and my grandma and grandpa would visit us at our house and just spent time with us. They were both so full of life and happy. Fast forward to now my grandma passed away frlm Covid and granddad is in his 90s. It reminds me of the cycle of life and how much it hurts but none the less, beautiful song.
“Ballad of the Wind Fish” plays as everyone you have known and loved for your entire adventure vanishes into nothingness, AND IT ONLY GETS AN HONORABLE MENTION!? When I got to #2, I was so happy to know that “Ballad of the Windfish” was going to get its well-deserved #1 spot, and then, just like in the game, my hopes and dreams just shimmered away.
Yeah its literally one of the best and heart breaking songs from zelda ever.. I miss coholint i tried to play the remake a second time but it just hurts me so much :')
Fi's theme is even more sad considering that she's stayed in the Master Sword all the way through every timeline where it was wielded. She's watched every Link who've handled it come and go, time after time and has even witnessed some of their death's first hand. The fact you can hear her theme and sound in Breath of the Wild backs this up. Not to mention that she even speaks to Zelda in that game so hopefully she finally makes a well needed return....
Amazing list and you got the top 3 perfectly! Fi's Gratitude/Farewell is my all time favorite Zelda song and is so emotional. SS was my first ever Zelda game (besides Spirit Tracks), so I have a soft spot in my heart for it.
I agree 100%. I hadn’t shed a single tear in YEARS and then I heard Fi’s Gratitude and just couldn’t help but break down and cry. I don’t know what it is about that melody, but it gets me every time. Even now watching the top pick of this video gave me goosebumps and that sense of grief and despair of not wanting to say goodbye to someone meaningful in your life as the game did the first time I played through that part. It’s amazing how the LOZ franchise is so capable of bursting out the humanity in someone and reminding me how wonderful it is to feel.
Song of healing is for sure #1. It has so many sad uses that are used to heal the lost souls, but only temporarily. You have to cope with the painful idea that any problem you fix, gets reset after playing the song of time, and that you can’t bring peace to everyone at once.
Those feels when after playing Skyward Sword you realize that in almost every other LoZ game Fi is right there with you ; A ; (except for titles when there is no Master Sword)
I love this list so much because it doesn't just show you a sad sounding song. It gives you the context surrounding the songs, which adds to the emotion. I love it
The last day track was the song that got me to break down into tears. It made me feel despair, knowing i couldn't do anything to save everyone. Of course alot of other songs made me feel like this. But being so young playing the game(4 or 5 i think) it made me cry. My brother played the same game and when he saw me cry, he understood why and comforted me because of how soft i was and still am to these things.
Ballad of the Wind Fish comes to my mind. It's the song that's being played as the entire island (and all inhabitants, including the implied love interest Marin) are erased from existence.
A good handful of these songs and their corresponding scenes have made me cry. Great list! Gate of Time from Skyward Sword is probably the only addition I'd make.
The saddest to me is the File music when loading or creating a new save file it just puts a tear to my eye because it brings some good memories especially with Ocarina of Time. You just hear it and you know how much adventure awaits for you in the game
Minda's theme your friend is dying you have to find some help quick before it's too late.Fi's theme you and your friend have been so much together but you have to go your separate ways eventually.
Not gonna lie, I’ve played every Zelda game in the franchise and I’ve only shed a tear on TWO occasions: 1.) at the end of Ocarina of Time when Zelda says farewell to Zelda and leaves her at Hyrule castle. 2.) By far the most emotional scene in the Zelda franchise is at the end of Skyward Sword when Fi merges her existence with the Master Sword. The game wasn’t perfect by any means, but that final scene was quite amazing for a Zelda game. Maybe you didn’t have that strong of a connection with Fi throughout the game, but the music is just extremely moving. At least it was for me. Great list! 👏
I've never played SS, so I can't say I identify with Fi's Goodbye, but it's definitely a tearjerker. I'm just glad the song of healing and midna's lament were so high on this list.
That theme gives me a feel of adventure and energy more than sadness. Also it fits a lot with Linebeck, as I just found out while writing this, because it's an ominous theme for a self-declared great sailor.
the final scene with fi is honestly one of my favourite moments of the entire zelda series. at first, its so incredibly sad watching her give her vinal speech and return to the sword for the last time, but thats also when it hits you, that throughout every zelda tite, when the master sword glows, thats fi's doing my mind immediately sprang to the final moment of ocarina of time's ganon battle, when the sword lights up and you deliver the final blow. you realise that while her conciousness may be asleep, she's still always with you, watching over link, guiding him.
I'm surprised Hilda's Lullaby wasn't on here. In my opinion that's just as beautiful & iconic as Zelda's Lullaby. There should be another adventure in Lorule where you see Hilda and Ravio
Krishna McKay Hilda’s theme definitely deserved to be on this list. It’s a perfect example depicting the ruler of a desolate kingdom driven to despair and willing to try to save her kingdom even if it means the fall of another, but ultimately reasonable. I wonder if Ravio even secretly knew that Hyrule’s Triforce could restore Lorule’s without moving itself.
@@StuartSimon Actually when I Hilda said that Lorule used to have one & that them losing theirs led to their kingdom falling apart, I thought she would say she wanted to wish to have it back. Also I dont think Ravio knew bcuz he didnt offer an alternative, only told Hilda that stealing Hyrule's was the wrong approach
The soundtrack for Twilight Princess certainly fit with the darker theme of the game, capturing a haunting yet beautiful feeling within the game. Plus it was a nice Easter egg with a throwback to a previous game which is always a nice subtle touch, and does play in with how each game could be connected to one another.
Hearing Fi's theme still makes me very sad. I started tearing up the first time I finished that game and the music just really gets to you. Midnas lament is a VERY close second for me though.
Ronald richman with all do respect fam I agree with you But I grew up with Nintendo that's all I've ever owned I tried playing PS3/4 n Xbox not for me still enjoyable but None of those list will ever compare to Ocorina of time
Last day from Majora's mask really gave you that dread and Ocarina of Time's Zelda Lullaby after Ganon's battle almost made me cry, fore it had Zelda apologize for her doing and to hear the ocarina before going back and Navi's leave. It was refreshing to hear Zelda play the ocarina.
Despite me wanting to, I never got the chance to play Skyward Sword. And, even then, listening to Fi's Gratitude gets me every time. I have to stick to Hyrule Historia and playthroughs to fully understand the depth of the relationship between Fi and Link, but her final words and the face Link makes when she tells him she needs to leave forever tugs at my heart. . .
When I heard Fi's theme I started crying. Honestly though, I really don't care if people hated that game and her, but I seriously was in love with it. I've played that game over 4 times and I have never gotten tired of it.
One moment that always made me a little sad was Flute Boy in “A Link to the Past”. Link finds his missing flute for him, but his mind is too corrupted by the Dark World to be saved, and he asks Link to play the flute one last time before he’s lost completely. The song is just so sad. (I know he comes back at the end, but that moment always stuck with me all these years later) 😢😢😢
I don't like Fi, in fact I'd say she's arguably the worst character in the entire series, not even because I find her annoying, but because she's so bland and lacks any real flaws to make her relatable and likable. But damn, that song... that is definitely the saddest song I've ever heard come out of a Zelda game, even if it's for a character who's got less personality than a piece of wood. Even though I'm a die-hard Midna fan, Fi's Gratitude has more of a slow and easing vibe to it, Midna's Lament is more dramatic and suspenseful, almost as if it's more meant to strike a sense of worry and dread over the thought of losing a friend, Fi's Gratitude doesn't exactly sound depressing, it's actually bright and subtly en-lighting, like you should be proud that you've made it to where you are, however your friend must move on, which is how things are meant to be, and you aren't able to do anything about it, the hopeless situation defiantly adds a level of sorrow to the scene.

It’s amazing how the LOZ franchise is so capable of bursting out the humanity in someone and reminding me how wonderful it is to feel.
"Come on grandma! I'll be back soon!"
"I'll be dead soon!"
Song of healing is for sure #1. It has so many sad uses that are used to heal the lost souls, but only temporarily. You have to cope with the painful idea that any problem you fix, gets reset after playing the song of time, and that you can’t bring peace to everyone at once.
7:21 That part of the OOT credits will always get the best of me.
Sorry you gotta update this cuz Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamitys Zeldas Lullaby was an absolute tear jerker
Those feels when after playing Skyward Sword you realize that in almost every other LoZ game Fi is right there with you ; A ; (except for titles when there is no Master Sword)
Like in Hyrule Warriors! :D
I love this list so much because it doesn't just show you a sad sounding song. It gives you the context surrounding the songs, which adds to the emotion. I love it
Fi's Gratitude always makes me cry 😭😭😭
Me too. To bad I hate the character.
Character was just annoying. It honestly didn’t sadden me like it should have when her end came cause she was just soooo annoying.
It really shows how themes and music can affect you.
We all cried over some stupid robot we all hate.
Gamerfreak1515 so like navi
Great picks! We need more lists that deal with Video Game OST.
what drove you to make this video... never mind ill just watch this video of sad music and tear up.
Zelda music can give you every emotion ever.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS
It's time to add Face Shrine's music from Link's awakening HD!
Blooper Tanooki yessss
The last day track was the song that got me to break down into tears. It made me feel despair, knowing i couldn't do anything to save everyone. Of course alot of other songs made me feel like this. But being so young playing the game(4 or 5 i think) it made me cry.
My brother played the same game and when he saw me cry, he understood why and comforted me because of how soft i was and still am to these things.
*Uses HD versions of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess*
*Doesn’t use 3D version of Ocarina of Time and only uses 3D version of Majora’s Mask once*
wut
What ever there basically the same game just the graphics are different
Ballad of the Wind Fish comes to my mind. It's the song that's being played as the entire island (and all inhabitants, including the implied love interest Marin) are erased from existence.
"Grab a tissue"
I don't need a tissue
I need a HUGE bucket
And lots of sponges
A good handful of these songs and their corresponding scenes have made me cry. Great list!
Gate of Time from Skyward Sword is probably the only addition I'd make.
The Zavinski Stories completely true!
midna's lament is number one
The saddest to me is the File music when loading or creating a new save file it just puts a tear to my eye because it brings some good memories especially with Ocarina of Time. You just hear it and you know how much adventure awaits for you in the game
I absolutely love Mipha and her theme .
Minda’s Lament really made me cry during when I would listen to the song, It would always make me cry!
Great list! 👏
Midnas Lament always gets me
I really loved how you described the Giants. It made me wants to watch the entire video even if i am in a hurry right now.^^
Number 1: Despacito (Hyrule Remix)
Mai Ze Correct!
Mai Ze Don't listen to that guy, I'm here!
HELL NO
This I so sad, Alexa play Despacito
I've never played SS, so I can't say I identify with Fi's Goodbye, but it's definitely a tearjerker. I'm just glad the song of healing and midna's lament were so high on this list.
Where’s linebeck’s theme? the saddest and most majestic song ever made
That theme gives me a feel of adventure and energy more than sadness. Also it fits a lot with Linebeck, as I just found out while writing this, because it's an ominous theme for a self-declared great sailor.
the final scene with fi is honestly one of my favourite moments of the entire zelda series. at first, its so incredibly sad watching her give her vinal speech and return to the sword for the last time, but thats also when it hits you, that throughout every zelda tite, when the master sword glows, thats fi's doing
my mind immediately sprang to the final moment of ocarina of time's ganon battle, when the sword lights up and you deliver the final blow.
you realise that while her conciousness may be asleep, she's still always with you, watching over link, guiding him.
The ballad of the wind fish(2019 remake) is the saddest
Fi's Gratitude was the first and only time a video game has brought me to tears
I actually wept, damn my softer emotions.
Skyrogue19 Grandmas theme nearly made me cry. It's always does.
No don't damn your soft emotions. It's what the world needs more.
"City in the Sky" from Twilight Princess makes me have feelings.
Yes, also the palace of twilight outside theme really hits me
It warms my heart to see Twilight Princess thèmes in here, Midna’s farewell was just depressing
Ballad of the Wind Fish is objectively the saddest Zelda song
The feels for this one man. This is definitely one of my favorites from watchmojo.
The Legend of Zelda franchise is my favorite video game franchise of all time.
Hearing Fi's theme still makes me very sad. I started tearing up the first time I finished that game and the music just really gets to you. Midnas lament is a VERY close second for me though.
Mipha’s theme should have been first
The nostalgia in this video was real 👏🏻🎼❤️
This is so sad, Alexa play Midnas Lament
What a pleasant surprise. A video about dark music with lots of Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask.
Ocarina of time is the best game ever made. *Ever*
WRONG, twilight
ok but true tho
Oot is overrated
Ocarina da best.
For me is one of the worst, and is very overrated
I expected Fi's Theme to be the 1rst.
Thank you for being so honest. 💔 This song makes me cry sometimes.
Never been this early like ever😂😂
ballad of the wind fish........... I tear up during that one
I cried when I finished Ocarina of Time
Watching this had brought many memories of my adventures with these games. Especially with Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time
the only thing sadder are the backstories to Taranza and Susie from the kirby series.....
Great list! We need more Zelda Watchmojo
PS4 XBox wishes they have a successful Series yea I said it
Mike Awesome
PlayStation
The last of us
Uncharted
Ratchet and clank
Xbox
Metal gear
Halo
Forza
Tf you talking bout
MGS isn't exclusive to any platform. They've had a bunch of games on a bunch of different systems. MGSV is multi-plat.
Ronald richman with all do respect fam
I agree with you
But I grew up with Nintendo that's all I've ever owned
I tried playing PS3/4 n Xbox not for me still enjoyable but
None of those list will ever compare to Ocorina of time
They are great franchises, but TLOZ still is great after more than 30 years old.
I do think Zelda is better than any PS4 or Xbox franchise, but I’m not going to say they don’t have anything...
Top 10 HAPPIEST Legend of Zelda songs
#1: Saria's Song
Edit: Thanks for the like! (Oh wait, that was me...)
Despite me wanting to, I never got the chance to play Skyward Sword. And, even then, listening to Fi's Gratitude gets me every time. I have to stick to Hyrule Historia and playthroughs to fully understand the depth of the relationship between Fi and Link, but her final words and the face Link makes when she tells him she needs to leave forever tugs at my heart. . .
I can’t help but shed a few tears during Fi’s farewell
If 'Minda's Lament' isn't number 1, someone's getting punched
It's number three.
So uh... who’s getting punched?
Did anyone get punched yet?
I wonder if Douglas would be like: Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora!
When I heard Fi's theme I started crying. Honestly though, I really don't care if people hated that game and her, but I seriously was in love with it. I've played that game over 4 times and I have never gotten tired of it.
i'm just here to get sample ideas for a beat lol
Thought I was the only one lol.
lmao fam your in your bag rn like me, i like the first song but the rest idk...
🎭 AudioXVNVX 🎭 Nintendo music is always a good reference. Even Ariana Grande used Animal Crossing as a reference in Successful
@@UmutKursawe that's true
🎭 AudioXVNVX 🎭 in fact I’m writing a song that sounds like a mashup between Shadow temple and No tears left to cry
To be fair, she's a robot or some sort of AI
So was Cortana, GLaDOS, and ClapTrap.
Majoras Mask “the healing” was that bitch, made me cry so much back when this came out. Gives me the feels
