I was really mad about him choosing meta knight for the darkest Kirby villain and was about to rant in the comments section, but after I started reading the comments I was like “Ya I think the boys got this one covered”
Really now? Meta Knight? Over giantic eyes that corrupt people and bleed on damage, a hostile supercomputer that wants to destroy all organic life, and even a freaking cult leader?! You could've chose any one of those but decided on the guy who's a blue Kirby behind that mask?
Let's not forget about a desert dweller who's the human incarnation of Hyrule's version of Satan, and ended up getting corrupted to the point of moral bankruptcy by his desire for the Triforce. Or a well-intentioned scientist, desperate for a solution that led to mankind's survival, that is basically granted God's powers by an otherworldly golden monolith as its activation destroys the world he knows, uses said powers to rebuild, while his personal King Piccolo uses those same powers to establish a constant cycle of destruction and creation in another dimension. Or a dragon that knows it was in a losing battle with another dragon tribe, and decides to possess a human traveller so it can establish an empire of its own and be worshipped.
Super Paper Mario was one of the most fucked up games Nintendo has ever put out, despite its colorful and cheery aesthetic. Remember that time Dimentio killed the Mario Bros. and sent them to Hell, where they then fought Lucifer himself? Fun times.

I think that Dylan Cuthberth (Co-creator of Starfox said about the amputated legs, and I quote, "What? Of course it's not real! That's weird" So it's all a bunk
The Shadow Queen or Count Bleck from the Mario series should've been on here. Bleck had a tragic backstory that caused him to think that all of existence is meaningless and the Shadow Queen is a bloodthirsty power hungry tyrant who killed millions of people and relishes in the suffering of others.
If I had to rewrite this list I would've included: - Calamity Ganon from Zelda: Unlike previous incarnations of Ganon/Ganondorf, this version not only emerges victorious, but he even kills the four champions, the king of Hyrule and fatal wounds Link. Though he was eventually defeated by Link, it's worth noting that he does rule Hyrule for an entire century. - Mewtwo from the anime: For those who question why Ash was revived by the tears of the Pokemon, you may want to watch Mewtwo's Origins which showcases Mewtwo's birth and his short-lived life in the virtual world with a girl called Amber-Two, a clone of Dr Fuji's deceased daughter along with a Bulbasaur, Charmander and a Squirtle. By the end of the short, all of the clones including Amber die after a system malfunction, forcing Dr Fuji to erase everything from Mewtwo's memories, except the emotions he felt watching the only people he ever knew die before him. - Aparoids from Star Fox: These mechanical beings can manipulate organic life and even manifest the memories of those who they come into contact with. They become so dangerous, that they even force Star Wolf to team up with the Conerian Army just to overthrow their queen. - Grima from Fire Emblem: Though he might be a close-companion of Chrom, it's later revealed that in Lucina's timeline, Robin was responsible for not only killing Chrom but even killed everyone in his army. Robin is actually the vessel for the fell-dragon Grima, who is more or less your cliche god of darkness. - Void Termina from Kirby: Though not much is known about this creature, the similarities it poses with Kirby and Dark Matter has recently shaken up the fan-community with some speculating that it created Kirby, Zero and Dark Matter. - Bulbmin from Pikmin: Bulbmin are Bulbords who come into contact with a parasite that turns some of them into Pikmin. They're fundamentally Pikmin inside the corpse of a Bulbord and are unable to exit subterranean areas, forcing Olimar to abandon them upon existing these underground areas. - Nintendo Lawyers: If you ever have any interest in pursuing a fan-created game, then these guys will immediately shut-down your project, even if you invested half a decade into your game. Suddenly, all dreams and aspirations you have to show the world that you want to become the next Miyamoto is flushed down the drain and tossed aside ... unless it's a Sega game, at which point they'll likely hire you to develop Sonic Mania 2 before they even touch your resume.
actually you're only partially right on Grima...given that Robin can be male or female, and the inclusion of marriage & child units. If you have a female Robin end up with Chrom the reveal of Grima leads to some intense moments between her & Lucina due to being mother & daughter o_O makes the whole thing MUCH darker IMO. I tend to play female characters, and given the fact that Fire Emblem never gets strategy guides anymore I hadn't known about the marriage & child units at the time so I discovered that by accident but I wouldn't have it any other way now as it's just such an interesting plot point
Dean Wynn I'd say Ocarina of Time/Wind Waker Ganondorf was worse. Because he escaped the Sacred Realm, Hyrule was flooded no doubt causing many people to die.
Or Sephiroth from Final Fantasy... his story is depressing too when you look at it and Cloud has been through crap. Xenoblade's Shulk is super depressing too. I dont think WatchMojo is even researching anymore...And there are more depressing characters than the Skull Kid in Zelda...
@@Heather_no_numbers The list is about Nintendo's darkest characters, not depressing, and I honestly think Skull Kid/Majora is the darkest Zelda character ever.
Oh owned by Nintendo...not just because they appear on Nintendo consoles. But I thought a couple other Zelda characters were darker than Skull Kid...i guess that is just me though.
-Makes list on dark characters from Nintendo. -Doesn't include any characters from their darkest series like Fire Emblem/Xenoblade Chronicles. -GG Watchmojo
Bradley S Yes it is. It's made by Monolith Soft, but Nintendo owns the company so it's a Nintendo series just like how Game Freak makes Pokemon games, but the company is owned by Nintendo so therefore it's a Nintendo series. There's no reason for Xenoblade not to be on the list
Game Freak isn't owned by Nintendo ..... They are independent. Monolith Soft is owned by Nintendo, the Xeno series didn't start on Nintendo consoles though.
-Doesn't include anything from Paper Mario, despite Count Bleck being arguably darker than anyone on the list -Includes Meta Knight out of all the dark Kirby characters to choose from
Meta Knight? Of all the Kirby villains in the franchise including Haltmann, Marx, Sectonia, and even a legitimate cult leader who not only mistreated his underlings in battle but revived the Kirby-equivalent of Satan himself, y’all just picked Meta Knight? This channel really be trifling.....
This is probably the most misleading WatchMojo title I've ever seen. This isn't the top 10 darkest Nintendo characters, this is the top 10 darkest stories behind Nintendo characters. Even then, Pikmin?!
id argue that count bleck is darker. shadow queen wanted to rule the world because.... greed/power hungry? bleck wanted to destroy the whole world because he was heartbroken over his father banishing his love interest into another dimention. although a over the top reaction, the ambition is much more serious and the reasons for doing so is a bit more fleshed out than doing evil because of evil's sake.
Samus? Did you forget about the time when hive-minded parasites caused her to lose half her armor to save her life, and then those lost pieces were put back together into a slime-filled suit, creating a heartless, merciless copy with all her abilities? No? Too traumatized? Okay, how about the time an eldritch abomination copied her form and successfully brainwashed the Space Pirates along with several bounty hunters into helping 'her' take over the galaxy?
That makes more sense. If it really was an emotionless killing machine... but it does show higher reasoning ability... i personally think it gaining an awareness and dying to restore nature would have been more poignant and cooler; but you are right I’d imagine.

I think Vaati was darker. He was a little fairy child who lost his mind and had his soul destroyed for all of eternity. He’s not even truly evil. He’s just lonely and it cost him his soul. What could be darker than a child losing his innocence and basically going to hell for it...?
Also the shroobs were not Truly evil, they were victims of nature’s brutality. The we’re evil because their planet was dying because it had no star to keep it alive. And all they knew was death and war. They in a sick twisted way only wanted a home. Especially the elder or queen.
Zachary Kenniston Skull Kid is a result of a child becoming lost in the lost woods. Sometime he befriended the four giants who later had to leave in order to protect Termina. Skull Kid threw a fit and began disturbing the peace, in which the giants threatened his life and he was banished. Soon he befriended Tatl and Tael. He found Majora's Mask that eneded up cursing and tricking people such as: Killing the Deku Butler's Son. Poisoning Woodfall, and have Odowal kidnap the Deku Princess. Tricked Gerudeo Pirates into stealing Zora Eggs and in which they murdered Miaku. Causing a permanent winter in Snowhead. In which it killed Darmani. Disturbing the dead in Ikana Canyon. And dropping a Moon the functions like a nuke if it crashes.
For Samus, it was actually her father who sacrificed himself to blow up Ridley's ship on K-2L, but most of that trauma that she's been through especially with Ridley, has come from the fact when she was only like three she asked Ridley if he could be her friend and then was about to use his flame breath to kill her, but her mother Virginia Aran stepped in front of her and she died to keep Samus alive. When she was the only sole survivor of her Planet the chozo brung her in and she's been through so much even before she became a bounty hunter especially having a complete breakdown where she was yelling at the top of her lungs to kill her. While the trauma is not exactly in the same scale, I know what that kind of pain feels like, so everytime I see that story of hers, it brings me back to my own path of memory lane simultaneously.
How can you have a Darkest Nintendo Characters list without Valter (Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones) or Dimentio (Super Paper Mario)? Even Arvis or his son would have been a good pick since there actions are why Fire Emblem stories have been watered down significantly, and they all are relevant characters.
Yeah, I was pretty sure that Orson would be on the list. I mean, it was probably one of the most disturbing scenes in Sacred Stones when you realized what Orson was doing. Sacred Stones was dark overall, but the 'darling' scene takes the cake. Damn.
viperaiion my same thought. I also thought it weird that they put Giygas over Claus or Giratina over Necrozma I mean Necrozma will be in pain for life. Even when merging with Solgaleo or Lunala it can’t maintain that form forever
Hear me out. Pokey has done the following: Helped Giygas enslave the Earth in eternal darkness to get revenge on Ness Halted Ness's progress multiple times Created his own empire in the future with himself as dictator Roboticized many animals for his army Killed Hinawa through his creations Cyberized Claus, causing him to lose his free will and be separated from his family for years Tried to kill Lucas and his friends His ultimate punishment is being stuck inside of the safe capsule for all eternity, as he is immortal in Mother 3, and the absolutely safe capsule cannot open after being shut since it was a prototype.
Porky is one of my favorite Nintendo characters but damn he has a dark and sad life. Death was too merciful for Porky. Instead, he got billions upon trillions of years sitting in a prison.
Commander Tartar should be on this list. He lived to see humanity completely wiped out by nuclear war and replaced by a sentient race of cephalopods. He’s sociopathic, and unlike many villains Nintendo has had, he actually came extremely close to achieving his goal. He blended up 10007 Octolings! I definitely think that warrants him a spot on this list.
Kirby series: Has some of the most terrifying and out of place villains in any video game series, including giant bleeding eyeballs and terrifying demons. Watchmojo: Metaknight wears a mask, so he's pretty spooky.
How was Grima, the murder of the human race, your friends and family, even making you do it, not on the list and giratina makes it! What! Just wanted to say that, consider a remake my friends
Hot take: Commander Tartar from Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion. It's heavily implied that he killed (or blended?) at least 10,000 octolings, zombified some more and was very close to commit genocide against inklings
Death was too merciful for Porky. His punishment for his evil doings wasn’t an end to it all, but no end at all. He will be in that capsule for billions of years to come. Porky has the saddest life of any character from any franchise I’ve ever seen.
No Orson from Fire Emblem? He betrays his own country (initiating the plot) to have his wife revived by necromancy, and when she is revived, she is a mindless puppet that says “I love you.” By the time he is found, he is in a fortress, alone and sickly, and has gone so mad he has to be put down by the heroes, who then mercy kill his wife.
I'm *really* surprised that Amalthus was not on this list. Unlike most other Nintendo characters, his motives, plan and methods all carried a thicker than black air to them.
10. Eh. Terrifying, but not really dark enough in my book compared to the rest. Pokemon has A LOT of worse examples even among normal Pokemon, especially once you start delving into Pokedex entries. A personal favorite example of mine being Parasect (which, according to its dex entry, has essentially been killed and taken over by its big mushroom upon evolution). 9. Hmm... I would have picked the X but that doesn't really qualify as just one character. 8. ................ Seriously? All the stuff Kirby has to work with and Meta Knight of all characters is your pick? Mysterious, certainly. Dark? No. Kirby has BASIC ENEMIES darker than this guy. 7. Good pick, but you missed a couple of opportunities on them too. I honestly would have rated them higher. 6. I don't know what to say about this one. I haven't played enough Star Fox to get any reasonable opinion here. 5. Porky instead of Giygas? Unexpected to say the least, but I applaud this one. Not just for the reasons listed here, but for just how insanely detached and inhuman his actions are. 4. Mewtwo's backstory is even more tragic when you look further into it; having been made by science as a clone is barely scratching the surface. That said, kudos for ranking him above Giratina. 3. Never mind, there he is... And even more disturbing when you consider the lengths he went to to try and achieve his goals. He basically destroyed any shred of sanity or form he had just to gain enough power to defeat and enslaved the humans. Also, thanks a lot for not bringing up the stupid fetus theory that was ultimately shot down by HAL director Itoi himself. 2. Good pick, but again I would have put the X somewhere in here. 1. I honestly would have put Majora's Mask itself on here instead of its host. Yeah, there is the whole weird backstory but the biggest and darkest detail is in just the sheer levels of EVIL it is. Setting aside the plagues it wrought on all of Termina and the whole apocalypse-by-moon bit, what makes it work so effectively is that it's just a mask. It has no emotions. No joy... No pity... No concern... No remorse... Not even anger or a shred of rational thought. Just an overwhelming force of evil beyond its victims' comprehension, hell-bent on achieving its end goal. That's a level of inhuman terror that not even Giygas can top. Of all the things in these games that scared me as a kid, Majora's Mask is the only one in the whole list that STILL scares me. Also... Color me surprised that there wasn't a single entry from Fire Emblem. It has a LOT of characters to work with here... Lyon, Arvis, Nergal, Grima, Gharnef, Garon... That's naming only a few.
I think porky is way more evil than gygas gygas is a betray child who tried to destroy the earth but couldnt because of the memories of his mom then he become insane but not really evil on the other hand porky now exactly what he is doing he want to destroy the humanity and become the only living thing in the world he did horrible stuff like murder corruption brainwashing dictator stuff (Sorry for the english im not native)
Me: What do you think is the darkest Nintendo franchise ?? Friend: Ummmm..... I don’t know..... Hmmmmm🤔 Me: I think it’s Kirby Friend: ...... THIS WAS AN ACTUAL CONVERSATION BTW
Kirby fucking fights eldritch monstrosities from space in like every other Kirby game just because they fucked up their lunch or something. Also, Metaknight and Dedede aren't even enemies per-say with Kirby anymore; rivals might be a better term, but they know not to start something with this ball of void wrapped in a pink candy-coating that means no harm. So I'd say they're all on good terms.
I was expecting Rosalina to be on this list. Yeah, she's a good girl but she is by far the darkest Mario character and has a surprisingly tragic and sad backstory for a Nintendo character in general.
You should make another video because there are many other dark nintendo characters: Dimentio, Fawful, Shadow Queen, Count Bleck, 02, Magolor, Fox, Silver, The Dead Marowak and Cubone, Hypno, Midna, Black Shadow, Winky Kong, etc.
What a surprise. These people that only know the bare minimum of the topics they cover ignore villains like Zero 2, Ghetsis, Void Termina, Commander Tarter, Lusamine, and the Dark Star.
I feel like Porky is more evil than Guigus. Guigus is not completely evil like when he’s stopped by the 8 melodies, while Porky killed(in a sense) and possessed Claus, Lucas’s brother. There’s also a theory that he killed Ness and that’s how got the “Friends Yo-yo.” D
I wholeheartedly agree with you. He was such an amazing villain and quite a complex one at that. What kills me, though, is that Nintendo is sitting on a potential series that could easily be revived. But, it seems like they would need to hire someone who has a strong background in narration.
Gerardo Rodriguez Retro Studios May be working on that very title. Could the N64 timeline be split into 9? But in all seriousness, they seem to have moved on to the Zero timeline
Eh kind of? In one of the earlier episodes, there was a scene where one of the characters mentions that Nightmare, the main antagonist of the anime, created a demon beast to serve him, but the demon refused to obey him, which Nightmare then decides to get rid of him, calling him a mistake, which the demon later on became a starwarrior. It's implied that it was either Kirby or MetaKnight who was the demon that disobeyed Nightmare.
Let's not forget Super Paper Mario's Count Bleck and Dimentio. The former is a nihilist driven to madness from his grief, desiring to end ALL OF EXISTENCE so as to avoid feeling the pain of having lost the love of his life. The latter is a vile, murderous monster who sends Mario, Bowser and Luigi to essentially HELL and brainwashes Luigi into working for him, all while hoping to take over the multiverse.
Void Termina was supposably the one that spawned all of the dark matter in the Kirby universe. He was the original God of Chaos and destruction. That thing should have been on the list.
4:29 Really?! Nintendo themselves have already disproven that theory! Besides, they don't need to chop off their feet as the G-Diffuser systems keep them from getting sick, so there's really no point!
How did Ridley NOT make the list? I'll just assume Ridley shared his spot with Samus. I mean Ridley actively murdered Megaman, Samus, AND Mario in an official Nintendo trailer this year alone.
How is Ganondorf not on this list? He’s basically doomed to be the incarnation of Demise’s hate for all time. Look at what he becomes as Calamity Ganon.
Come on guys No Fire Emblem Characters in this list not even honorable mention Hell there’s so many dark characters in fire emblem I hope you guys make another list of this
I wouldn't have put Meta Knight on this list. He isn't dark. He's just someone we don't know much about. Plus, although he always fights Kirby, he also offers Kirby a sword before every battle.
Yeah amalthus has one of tge darkest backstories in Nintendo history and does some awful shit, from war mongering, Genocide, infanticide, manipulating world governments, human experimentation and trying to cause as much suffering to humanity as long as possible because he believes it's Gods will for him to punish humanity for being evil. I can't believe he didn't even get mentioned.
@@nunyabusiness8000 I know it's not a popular opinion but considering what he went through I can actually sympithy with him and understand his way of action.
Roi Itzkovich same here. Amalthus is one of my favorite villains because of how much thematic importance he has to X2's narrative and because how complex of a character he is (dare I say more complex than Jin) I don't condone anything he did but I can admit that he's well written.
@@Midna78 Than didn't Klaus say something to him to convince him otherwise? Because, at the time, he agreed with him. If someone like Rex appeared 500 years before than, Klaus would've convinced Amalthus not to go genocide. That moment when Klaus spoke in chapter 10 is when I understood that Amalthus isn't a bad guy just for the sake of it, he is the bad guy because he has no choice but to! Klaus is just as guilty to Amalthus' actions because he's to lazy to take fate into his hands. "It is fated to happen, it cannot but happen". Because of this quote I knew that he agreed with Amalthus when he climbed the world tree, before Rex and Pneuma, and was too lazy to go against fate and do everything he can to change destiny. I don't hate Amalthus, I am angry at Klaus for letting Amalthus to awake Malos (and his second half is Zanza so I have more reasons to be angry at him). #XC2isbetterthanXC1
Okay, but have anyone stop and consider how the spacial furries are Nintendo’s most down to earth characters just followed by the normal humans in Pokémon
Lavos from Chrono trigger shoulda gotten an honorable mention, a space parasite waits to eradicate all life and reproduced due to chrono trigger first releasing as a Nintendo game

In Starfox 64 or the first game, they did have amputated legs.
I think that Dylan Cuthberth (Co-creator of Starfox said about the amputated legs, and I quote, "What? Of course it's not real! That's weird" So it's all a bunk
The reason they looked like they had metal legas is because they didn't want to draw actual legs
Itoi did highlight that Porky had shit parents to thank for being bad. Food for thought.
See MatPat's theory on team Star Fox's legs. They were amputated, but not for the reasons stated in the video.

I would say Dimentio more but I agree either way
I would say the aliens (can't remember their name) from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Juanfe Bejarano. They're called the Shroobs.
Not just them: what about the Shroobs from Partners in Time? I mean, that’s an entire race whose primary goal is destruction.

- Calamity Ganon from Zelda: Unlike previous incarnations of Ganon/Ganondorf, this version not only emerges victorious, but he even kills the four champions, the king of Hyrule and fatal wounds Link.
Suddenly, all dreams and aspirations you have to show the world that you want to become the next Miyamoto is flushed down the drain and tossed aside ... unless it's a Sega game, at which point they'll likely hire you to develop Sonic Mania 2 before they even touch your resume.
for anime mewtwo i think they're only focusing on games character and i would add ridley personally
actually you're only partially right on Grima...given that Robin can be male or female, and the inclusion of marriage & child units.
Wait, Mewtwo and Calamity Ganon but not Jin or Count Black?
Mario Kart 8 boy I think you mean Count Bleck....and yeah, I agree
No Fire Emblem or Xenoblade? Come on, Xenoblade games are just completely depressing at a lot of points.
Or Sephiroth from Final Fantasy... his story is depressing too when you look at it and Cloud has been through crap. Xenoblade's Shulk is super depressing too. I dont think WatchMojo is even researching anymore...And there are more depressing characters than the Skull Kid in Zelda...
Heather P Sephiroth is a Square Enix Character not a Nintendo Character. This Top 10 video lists the Nintendo owned characters.
@@Heather_no_numbers
The list is about Nintendo's darkest characters, not depressing, and I honestly think Skull Kid/Majora is the darkest Zelda character ever.
Oh owned by Nintendo...not just because they appear on Nintendo consoles. But I thought a couple other Zelda characters were darker than Skull Kid...i guess that is just me though.
@@Heather_no_numbers
Does Sephiroth appear on a Nintendo console?
Seriously asking.
-Makes list on dark characters from Nintendo.
-Doesn't include any characters from their darkest series like Fire Emblem/Xenoblade Chronicles.
-GG Watchmojo
Xenoblade isn't a Nintendo series
Bradley S Yes it is. It's made by Monolith Soft, but Nintendo owns the company so it's a Nintendo series just like how Game Freak makes Pokemon games, but the company is owned by Nintendo so therefore it's a Nintendo series. There's no reason for Xenoblade not to be on the list
dArLiNg
Orson should’ve been on the list
Game Freak isn't owned by Nintendo ..... They are independent.
Monolith Soft is owned by Nintendo, the Xeno series didn't start on Nintendo consoles though.
-Doesn't include anything from Paper Mario, despite Count Bleck being arguably darker than anyone on the list
-Includes Meta Knight out of all the dark Kirby characters to choose from
Glad both Porky and Giygas made the list but where are the Fire Emblem characters?
DragonKazooie89 You could make a list of Fire Emblem characters alone.
Either Lyon or Orson should of made it. That Darling scene.
You didn't even mention Valter, or as I like to call him: the PG-version of Ramsey Bolten.
African Prince Okoh and now that Wave 3 is here, Void is just some sad creature that can’t feel anything and is now feeling things it’s never felt.
Actually I think void is going to become another Kirby, considering how Kirby and his friends defeated it with positive energy(friendship).
TheJlee1943 Void is a clone of zero and zero can’t feel emotions and that’s why his dark matters corrupt the hole galaxy
Mewtwo was forced to suffer...
but...he's so freaking cool...
Giygas is way darker than all of these villains
Someone forgot Shadow Queen...
Sugerloadedgirl789 my question is why is meta knight here
Sa-x turned good at the end and sacrifices it self to Samus to restore the balance. It was a heartless parasite but I guess it became aware.
@@zacharykenniston748 It saw the Omega Metroid as a greater threat than Samus, remember, Metroids hunt for x-parasites.
That makes more sense. If it really was an emotionless killing machine... but it does show higher reasoning ability... i personally think it gaining an awareness and dying to restore nature would have been more poignant and cooler; but you are right I’d imagine.

Meta Knight.
Really.
Over Mother brain.
Really.
no ones remebers vaati from minish cap? or the shrobs from partners in time?
alguien cualquiera Vaati deserves more love
Vaati wasn't nearly as dark as Skull Kid and Majora's Mask. They were gonna wipe out everything, including themselves.
Zachary Kenniston
Skull Kid is a result of a child becoming lost in the lost woods.
Sometime he befriended the four giants who later had to leave in order to protect Termina. Skull Kid threw a fit and began disturbing the peace, in which the giants threatened his life and he was banished. Soon he befriended Tatl and Tael. He found Majora's Mask that eneded up cursing and tricking people such as:
Killing the Deku Butler's Son.
FINALLY, someone that remembers that Gygas is not the only villain in the Mother series, about time someone talked about Porky as he deserves.
Why are these Nintendo Characters so Dark?
*Are you sure they're not from the DC Universe?*
Love the Dead Pool reference.🤣
God I want a Subspace Emissary mode in Smash Bros ultimate.
luigi's mansion series get pretty dark too with all the dead ghost haunting
Thats nothing compare to the other one
How can you have a Darkest Nintendo Characters list without Valter (Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones) or Dimentio (Super Paper Mario)? Even Arvis or his son would have been a good pick since there actions are why Fire Emblem stories have been watered down significantly, and they all are relevant characters.
Hell, you could just make TTYD and Super Paper Mario themselves the #1 spot. Those games were the definition of dark
Zephiel would have worked too
from the wide range of dark characters in fire emblem series you couldn't even pick one ? :D
That's how I felt about them not putting any Mario characters on here.
I was hoping for Grima to be on the list.
Yeah, I was pretty sure that Orson would be on the list. I mean, it was probably one of the most disturbing scenes in Sacred Stones when you realized what Orson was doing. Sacred Stones was dark overall, but the 'darling' scene takes the cake. Damn.
@@StivKobra explain pls
viperaiion my same thought. I also thought it weird that they put Giygas over Claus or Giratina over Necrozma I mean Necrozma will be in pain for life. Even when merging with Solgaleo or Lunala it can’t maintain that form forever
"Shadow Queen", an actual resurrected demon within the realm of Paper Mario, needed an honorable mention.
Hear me out. Pokey has done the following:
Helped Giygas enslave the Earth in eternal darkness to get revenge on Ness
Halted Ness's progress multiple times
Created his own empire in the future with himself as dictator
Roboticized many animals for his army
Killed Hinawa through his creations
Cyberized Claus, causing him to lose his free will and be separated from his family for years
Tried to kill Lucas and his friends
His ultimate punishment is being stuck inside of the safe capsule for all eternity, as he is immortal in Mother 3, and the absolutely safe capsule cannot open after being shut since it was a prototype.
Porky is one of my favorite Nintendo characters but damn he has a dark and sad life. Death was too merciful for Porky. Instead, he got billions upon trillions of years sitting in a prison.
Where's Hyness from Kirby Star Allies? That dude is a LITERAL CULT LEADER.
Meta knight🤣🤣🤣 he's edgy not dark
A kirby version of batman lol but for real meta knight is cool
Skull Kids story is the saddest from what he is to how he was driven insane to get the mask thinking it could make him happy
I like how most evil characters have the word "dark", "black" or "Shadow" in them
Correct me if I'm wrong but what about Ganondorf?
WatchMojo: Lmao lemme just put mildly disturbing aspects of characters people would recognize instead of the truly dark people
Kirby series: Has some of the most terrifying and out of place villains in any video game series, including giant bleeding eyeballs and terrifying demons.
Watchmojo: Metaknight wears a mask, so he's pretty spooky.
Giygas
Ultra Beasts(Mainly Guzzlord)
Zero2
Tabuu
Ridley
Andross
Grima
Calamity Ganon
Majora's Mask
Porkey Minch
Hades
Medusa
Viridi
Chaos Kin
Mother Brain
Void Termina
Tabuu
Giratina
Black Knight
Hero of Time Link
Why Viridi?
I'm disappointed that Ridley isn't here seeing as he not only killed Samus' mother but ate the bodies of the dead to prevent himself from dying.
Some of these are't even dark characters. They just have a dark past. Having a dark past does NOT make you dark.
Death was too merciful for Porky. His punishment for his evil doings wasn’t an end to it all, but no end at all. He will be in that capsule for billions of years to come. Porky has the saddest life of any character from any franchise I’ve ever seen.
You know what's even darker, there needs to be a second list.
Ok, I agree with Mewtwo being on this list, but they forgot to say that Mewtwo kills all the scientists.
That was so disturbing that scene
She actually only says darling which is more creepy and sad
No Xenoblade either, leave it to watchmojo to make terrible lists that don't even scratch the surface.
I think porky is way more evil than gygas gygas is a betray child who tried to destroy the earth but couldnt because of the memories of his mom then he become insane but not really evil on the other hand porky now exactly what he is doing he want to destroy the humanity and become the only living thing in the world he did horrible stuff like murder corruption brainwashing dictator stuff
(Sorry for the english im not native)
Skull Kid, the Pikmin, Mewtwo, and Samus all need warm hugs. 😢
Me: What do you think is the darkest Nintendo franchise ??
Friend: Ummmm..... I don’t know..... Hmmmmm🤔
Me: I think it’s Kirby
Friend: ......
THIS WAS AN ACTUAL CONVERSATION BTW
I agree, Kirby is definitely the darkest.
Kirby is dark af
R.I.P. Shinichi Shimomura
Ridley is also a pretty dark character
I was expecting Rosalina to be on this list. Yeah, she's a good girl but she is by far the darkest Mario character and has a surprisingly tragic and sad backstory for a Nintendo character in general.
Why not child link from Ocarina of Time? He was orphaned, eventually was responsible for the downfall of hyrule, and got teased his whole life.
Where’s Ridley the dude literally killed samus parents and ate he mom’s fless to survive
And then taunted her.
Kinda surprised Ganon/Ganondorf didn't make the list. Sure he is a core villain, but he's one of those kinds of characters with evil intentions.
What a surprise. These people that only know the bare minimum of the topics they cover ignore villains like Zero 2, Ghetsis, Void Termina, Commander Tarter, Lusamine, and the Dark Star.
William Hertel
You’d think judging by this, and other Kirby lists they’ve done (the whole one list,) that they’ve never even played a Kirby game.
The Kingslayer exactly!
Meta Knight’s only edgy.
They could’ve at least put someone EDGIER
I feel like Porky is more evil than Guigus. Guigus is not completely evil like when he’s stopped by the 8 melodies, while Porky killed(in a sense) and possessed Claus, Lucas’s brother. There’s also a theory that he killed Ness and that’s how got the “Friends Yo-yo.” D
Pious Augustus from Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem!
Such a villain that will likely never get his love in modern times.
@@BigBrotherGnE he was such a good villain, though
I wholeheartedly agree with you. He was such an amazing villain and quite a complex one at that. What kills me, though, is that Nintendo is sitting on a potential series that could easily be revived. But, it seems like they would need to hire someone who has a strong background in narration.
"Face me... And you shall surely perish!" Dang, Pious deserves another chance. Eternal Darkness too.
where the fuck is ridley, he ate Samus' parents and openly enjoys the thrill of murder
I wish Nintendo makes a new Star Fox game where it takes place after Star Fox Command (NDS)
Gerardo Rodriguez Retro Studios May be working on that very title. Could the N64 timeline be split into 9?
But in all seriousness, they seem to have moved on to the Zero timeline
Trujillo 2020 well I do hope they make a better aftermath of Assault where Krystal stays in the team and not with Star Wolf
Gerardo Rodriguez Yeah. Fox randomly kicking her out from concern never sat well with me.
Tidal Yacht what does shelved mean?
Tidal Yacht hello what does shelved mean?
Andross from Star Fox 64 still creeps me out, and Giygas is just down right horrifying.😰😱
Didn't the animated Kirby series reveal plenty of Metaknights backstory?
SilverRainbow100 that’s “motive” not “backstory”
Though the anime is not canon I do think it's a good explanation about meta Knights character but don't take it as a hundred percent
It's not real
@@generalklump3849 Correction: *not canon to the games*
Let's not forget Super Paper Mario's Count Bleck and Dimentio. The former is a nihilist driven to madness from his grief, desiring to end ALL OF EXISTENCE so as to avoid feeling the pain of having lost the love of his life. The latter is a vile, murderous monster who sends Mario, Bowser and Luigi to essentially HELL and brainwashes Luigi into working for him, all while hoping to take over the multiverse.
Watchmojo this list could have been better.
Greenherring 10 sadly
Noticing a huge lack of thought and effort in a lot of their videos...
Void Termina was supposably the one that spawned all of the dark matter in the Kirby universe. He was the original God of Chaos and destruction. That thing should have been on the list.
Where the hell are the fire emblem characters?
Ikr!
I wanted Lon’qu
Corrin
Robin could've at least been an honorable mention
Sigurd is one of the darkest character in fire emblem history. Definitely should if been in this list
1:34-2:32 I'm just glad you didn't use footage from Captain N
8:00-8:56 Samus Aran is Fuzzle the Sabreweasel's spirit animal
4:29 Really?! Nintendo themselves have already disproven that theory! Besides, they don't need to chop off their feet as the G-Diffuser systems keep them from getting sick, so there's really no point!
How did Ridley NOT make the list? I'll just assume Ridley shared his spot with Samus. I mean Ridley actively murdered Megaman, Samus, AND Mario in an official Nintendo trailer this year alone.
Someone hasn't played Xenoblade Chronicles...
Mine would've been Metal Face
How could you forget Shadow Queen?!
How is Ganondorf not on this list? He’s basically doomed to be the incarnation of Demise’s hate for all time. Look at what he becomes as Calamity Ganon.

I wouldn't have put Meta Knight on this list. He isn't dark. He's just someone we don't know much about. Plus, although he always fights Kirby, he also offers Kirby a sword before every battle.
Amalthus from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Saddest backstory EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Oh Architect, is this the world that you intended?"
Amalthus is one of my favorite villains because of how much thematic importance he has to X2's narrative and because how complex of a character he is (dare I say more complex than Jin)
I don't condone anything he did but I can admit that he's well written.
