Both teams played well... nobody predicted this is how the game would turn out....including eagles fans...the eagles defense stunk, the patriots defense stunk....both offenses were great...Pederson outcoached Belichick, Brady was magnificent and so was Foles....great game...Bill Belichick got exposed.

Bottom line Eagles 🦅 did what most teams don’t against NE they played aggressive Freakin Football they watched Jacksonville Jaguars lose to NE playing conservative football after jumping out to a halftime lead. They made NE play football didn’t give the game away, they kept their foot on NE neck from the starting kickoff, didn’t take a knee with 45 second before halftime they scored again in that time frame. That’s how you beat NE.

Nick outplayed Brady. He basically threw screens or wide open wrs. Not his fault. Alshon TD, Clement TD, and that throw in the middle of the field between 2 defenders when ertz was in the flat. He outplayed brady no matter how you spin it.

Pats played good but one play makes a difference
I can always tell a fan who has one there 1st and only superbowl becuase they act like no other team has ever one a superbowl. The patriots should have been favored not becuase they are the patriots but becuase they were defending champs. That should always be the case. The eagles did a great job but just enjoy it ans not act like they werr so much better. First of all the eagles si called GREAT defence let pats put up 33 points and without a deep threat once cooks went out. Then there was the fact that it took a great defensive play to end the game with just over 2 minutes left. Add to that, the eagles had to play almost perfect on offence to win. I think the eagles did GREAT and its cool they got the win but lets all get real and see it for what it was, two great teams competing and it coming down to the end. Act like you've beem there before fans
Jason Bjorn. The better team did win but the PATS should have been the favorite just like most all defending champs are. Thats just common sence. Oh and ps. Vegas picked them ans lost but they are right 81 percent of the time. Think about it.
tony lavoie The Eagles were alot better. They lost an MVP QB and hall of fame tackle and pro bowl linebacker and great running back Don't try and down play that. The Eagles were jist the better coached team.

If a Drew Bree's, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning level QB played on the Patriots over the last 20 years - don't fool yourself into thinking they wouldn't have also made 6-8 Super Bowls over this time and won 4 or 5 each.
... They all would have! Colin has somehow come to the conclusion Brady is the significant reason why they win; if this was true, he would be better than 1-3 in playoff games his defense gives up 31+ points.
Brady has been blessed with the most stable organizational structure and best coaching staff in sports the last two decades.

I'm an Eagles fan but Pats D just isn't the same as it's been...No Ninkovich, Chandler Jones, Collins, Mayo obviously from a few years back...no Hightower...and then benching Butler. I wonder if Pats will draft on D and land some free agents.
Quentin 33 I agree I’m a pats fan , and I know will admit . The pats defence is suspect particularly the secondary except Butler who didn’t play . I knew they’d have trouble against the eagle deep passes , and play action the eagles have had success with.

No doubt Pederson is a great coach. But I think Belichick also outsmarted himself. Benching Butler was a fatal mistake as they had a hard time covering the Eagles' receivers.

TheSwagIsBack right? Their defensive line was getting owned and Ertz had a big day. The patriots defense with butler achieved a overall 29th ranked defense. While they gave up yards what saved them was that they didn’t give up points. In the SB their defense was overwhelmed by eagles offense and gave up a lot of points in addition to yardage. Butler wasn’t gonna turn them into 2000 ravens 😑
lol how many Broken tackles were there? Butler is easily their best tackling Corner, Rowe and Gilmour are WEAK when challenged. I HATE the patriots but to say this wouldn't have had an effect is hella dumb and short minded. Guys don't just stop playing when the WR catches the ball, or when the RB breaks out of the box. Tackling secondarys are key to any defense and Butler provided that, as well as TO potential. Pats defense was one of the best units in the league from week 6 to the AFC championship, and then gave up 41 when they bench Butler, the guy played 98%of snaps for a reason lol.
@@timocruz510 you are absolutely correct. Butler played 97.8% of the snaps all year. He was a great tackler, and his replacement. Rowe didn’t even know he was starting til game time. Butler also had super bowl experience. I believe he absolutely could have made a difference.

I think Brady got in his head. I believe BB is tired of the all recognition TB12 gets for the Pats winning. He wanted to make a move ala Nick Saban. Saban playing his 2nd string QB was legendary. I don't like Saban but that was a stud move.
12 minutes in... I remember Super Bowl XXXVII, Oakland v. Tampa Bay. IIRC, the Raiders sent Barrett Robbins home before the Super Bowl because he apparently went across the border to Mexico and did something really stupid that would've cast the team in a bad light.
Nonetheless, whether it was Robbins or the backup on the O-line, that Tampa Bay defense was going to eat Oakland alive... which they did.
Colin could not wait to start talking again when mark was telling his story about Green Bay.

omieg89 In the 2017-2018 NFL Championship game against the Vikings, the Eagles OL manhandled the best D in the league. Sure the Eagles D made Vikings QB Case Kennum look awful with a pick 6 and a fumble, but that Eagles OL came through and obliterated that Vikings pass rush. In the Super Bowl, the Patriots had a top 5 D and Bellichek is the best coach in all of football. Sure their best defensive player LB Donta Hightower was out though they still had James Harrison as a solid pass rusher, albeit at the end of his career. LT Vaitai was able to block him enough for Foles to pass well as well as the run game that gashed the Patriots D. Even when the Patriots blitzed the Eagles OL was able to pick it up enough for Foles to get rid of the ball quickly.
Gronk doesn't need to keep taking that beating, you've made enough money, go while you can.

Patriots Offense was decent. They need more work on defense, you can't expect your receivers and qb to succeed if your D can't contribute much. At end, Eagles out played Patriots.

Eagles remind me of Seattle seahawks years ago when they steamrolled all the teams with their legion of boom. Patriots kept up with the eagles leading to the last quarter where Tom pays for having his defense terrible. Patriots kept up not because of their defense, but because of their offensive.
Hold on didn't Atlanta's aggressiveness get critisized last year? And Seahawks in red zone? Calls went phillies way great officiated game forced fumble if not pats drive down and Philly lose just a gritty great game.

Money Manziel - you know nothing. The problem is the Pats defense couldn't stop anything the Eagles did. Brady was able to help them stay in it and even take the lead at times. If the defense could have gotten 1 more stop (they only had 2 stops), the Pats would have won.

I thought Foles played Brady evenly. There’s about 63 yards on Brady’s stat sheet, that are garbage stats. The 23 yard pass to Amendola at the end of the half and the 40 yards they gained with 43 seconds left at the end that really didn’t matter. The funny thing is that the difference in their play was that Foles caught his one ball and Brady dropped his. But i would say they were essentially even.

I guess the 40 yards with 43 seconds left were of importance because it led to a Hail Mary but my point is that those yards weren’t all that meaningful to the outcome of the game. And I’m only pointing that out because the original comment was that Brady had more passing yards than Foles thus had a better game. The passing yards alone don’t tell the whole story. That’s why I’m saying you can’t conclude Brady had a better game.
