  • "Yoyo", our 2012 - Toyota Yaris, arrived @ 157.500 km milestone.
During the winter, we start to hear some noises when use the brake pedal (as the ABS started to go on work), and on the dashboard, some lights came on ...
A friend helped me with his tester and find out Yaris has a ABS Sensor nonfunctional ...
I went to dealer, showed them the error code, and they didn't had it... so, I bought the sensor from rockauto.com ... (www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.... ) and I decided to replace it.
But unfortunately instead to buy an ABS Sensor, I bought just the CONNECTOR !!!
Please note that all symptoms described on the rockauto.com site, appeared on our Yaris ...
Here you can see how I proceed.
Doing this operation @home, can save about 100 - 150 $ from your pocket ...
As I worked for the very first time I did the job in about 2 - 2.5 hours (I had to stop the work for about 30 minutest and retake it); I estimate it could be done in a little less time, maybe 1 - 1.5 hours for an amateur/non professional mechanic ...
if you need more info, you can now watch the DiY I did about how to replace the Rear Wheel Hub Bearing with the ABS Sensor ounted ON ! on the same channel ...
    • DIY - Rear Wheel Hub B...
    Thank you for watching !
Good roads to have, i wish you !
    God bless you !
    Enjoy !

I had this problem and I cleaned the ABS wheel connector with electronic contact cleaner. So far no problem, and it is a much easier job.

Hi ! Thanks 🙏🏻 for your comment !
After that job, few months I had no problems. But the car started again to make noise when braking. I went back to my friend and now I get different error codes. So, I bought the bearing with the sensor and I replaced it. Again, few months everything was fine until the car started to sound weird, as before…
The winter passed and now it’s quiet again but I don’t know for how long ! 🤪
Hope to stop for good !

Please check the other diy with the wheel bearing. I suggest you to change that before replacing the cable/connector. In my case It didn’t worked until I replaced the whole wheel bearing but be careful when you order it to be sure it is coming with the ABS Sensor !
Please watch the last movie i posted. Thanks 🙏🏻!

You are replacing a sensor wire harness, not the sensor. Please correct the title of the video. The sensor is the thing in the hub that you plugged into. I hope your ABS lights were helped by this.

I did't find the picture with the code I had ... but I had 3 lights on the dashboard (parking brake + abs + traction control) and now I have no one ... seem it is working well .. 😎

This video should be taken down. All you have done is change the harness which does not need to be changed. The problem is always in the Hub. The sensor is integrated into the hub.
This repair did not fit your problem and you know it. Why are you not removing the video which will mislead others. Not very nice!

      I am working on…
      After I did it I found i didn’t fix my problem…
I made research, bought the right assembly, replaced the hub which has the ABS sensor pressed in …
Today or tomorrow I’ll put online with all details… about this “odyssey” …
It’s weird, I have that problem on a Toyota!!! On the Hyundai Elantra I have 274.000 km and never had troubles like this !!!
      Sorry…

Dude … mechanic can be a bunch of shit. It’s always about replacing what looks bad first and upgrading. Plus the wires are not pricey so it’s not that bad to replace also
