i am 69 years old now. This takes me back to old times. I just had dinner with women I have known all my life. Now jamming to when we were so young. I loved our generation. WE ROCKED!
You shouldn't talk about it in past tense.
Hello, how are you doing today? It’s nice to meet you on here.
You have ten years on me. But I still feel what yer feelin. And quite honestly I can’t grasp just how late it really is getting. And yer damn right. There will never be any future generations that will come close to yours and mine. I feel privileged. I’ve always felt that I was in the school of life through music, through painted and sketched art, through film and play alike. I feel that our generations will never be matched. I feel that our generations will mostly be forgotten as our trains pull away into the night.
I can only be comforted in knowing that somewhere, if our species is still here a hundred or two hundred years from now, that somewhere a young man or woman, is sitting somewhere listening to this with a guitar in hand, or a piano in front, paying their respects and introducing our generations music to the newest of listeners.
We had a helluva run didn’t we?
I'm 76 and never really appreciated how good he was at such a young age. But now I do. ❤
It's never too late. Try listening to Ryan Adam's Cold Roses (album).
I became aware of him when he was standing on the edge of a feather expecting to fly.
It was time 👍☝️👌😄
omg - I KNEW!!! 😊😊😊
Still holds up after 52 years. "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold" are timeless all time greats. And is there is a better anthem than "Don't Let it Bring You Down" for his era and ours? So great. Thank you for the memories, Neil Young.
I am so grateful that the BBC had the foresight to record this iconic concert and make is accessible. This is so wonderful.
They do pick the finest .... for the most part. ❤
I recorded this from the TV in UK as a teenager - on my cassette player 😅 Brilliant show
So much music out of a single guitar and voice.
Wow he was 25 here! What a find, thank you for posting! His diction is so clear too, not that common for singers of the era.
Late 60's through middle-late 70's folky Neil. His peek actually, when he was the world's best composer.
I've always enjoyed Neil Young all their concerts I enjoy and had been too and may say one of the best ways at the tower and of course you can't forget in Philly best times growing up enjoying good music. Always a story behind every song listen to the words God bless thank you for all the enjoyable fun time and memories!!!!

The girl at 10:16 ❤
I understand the break up Crosby Stills Nash and young but I'm sorry this guy had to go left in the end ! Transformer man is won of my favorites.
It's crazy hearing Neil talk about 'new songs' which have now gone on to become timeless classics....UA-cam is like a time machine for those of us who live for our music...🔥
Well said we live for what we may never realize is open all nite the youweb
Timeless ❤
people like him changed the world. on my knee for them, i don't have to write all their names. we owe them, thanx; semper fi...
gives me goosebumps
Yes!! And to hear them in a stripped down version different than the album. Awesome.
To be able to hold court, be funny, and be a one man band with extremely well written songs at the age of 24/25 is really pretty amazing!
To write this song at 24.. is amazing
nevermind writing some of the greatest ever written!
Agree , such a moving songwriter, absolutely love his stuff. He knows what he is doing .
Extremely amazing & difficult ❤
A couple of years before this, Neil had the flu or something, with a very high fever, and, by his own account, wrote Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River, and Cowgirl In The Sand all in the same day. So...fever or genius? I think both...🔮✨
I met him backstage 50 yrs ago . He said to me , and I will never forget his honesty , 'Man , I really have to piss ! '
Watching this as a seventy old man with the same awe and amazement as i felt at seventen when i discovered Neil Young, its strange and beautiful when an artist of such talent enters your life and becomes a part of it like a childhood friend, we are so lucky to have been around in those times and to have witnessed true genius in the making
perfectly stated! ❤😌👍
Exactly 🖖🏽
Well said my same feelings at 59
Ah, you are the first person to use the new alternate spelling of 17. Seventen kind of makes more sense than seventeen, right? Seven + ten = 17. 🤣
@@iluvdaguitar
If he is 70 years old now...
Then he is:
seven tens
or
seven x ten
Few performers are as powerful as Neil when it's just him, playing his songs by himself. He was one of the first singer-songwriters I really got into when I was growing up.
I’ve seen him perform four times once by himself he was a one-man show in Denver for the Neil Young solo acoustical tour in the early 80s mid 80s had a drum board his harmonica on a gold chain with diamond studs his guitar and voice play for three hours three amazing hours. 👐🏼🔥♾️
Ditto on all thoughts n memories
I've Always Loved Neil Young from when I was just a young girl to Now and until my time is up...💜
Was lucky enough to see Neil here in CT on his 1999 solo acoustic tour, the same tour in which he premiered the songs to be on his next album, Silver & Gold. I was a bit disappointed when the album was released, as the songs were all "dressed up" with other instruments, and (to me) obscured the unadorned beauty I'd heard at the show. However, Neil DID release a concert video later from that tour that is absolutely fabulous, just like I remembered. I highly recommend it.
no one knows in the audience how important this performance was, and still is.
If I was told I could only see one more concert in my life, but I can choose my artist…it’s a Neil Young solo show. Nothing more musically both powerful and poignant
✅
Hopefully he’ll add more dates on his current tour. Hope you can catch him in concert.💯
NEIL YOU MAKE ME CRY..... FINE YOU WIN...
I know how you feel 😭
Farout, let it out brother.
He's tapped in, such a unique talent. The gravity he creates with just an acoustic guitar and a harmonica is unparalleled, and of course it doesn't hurt to be one of the greatest songwriters of all time. We're lucky he's passed our way, and long may he run.
Jay you nailed it bigtime
Amen brother!❤
@@JonDunnmusician I love classic rock and have gone down dozens of "rabbit holes" over the years, but always come back to Neil as my touchstone. And the guy is still bringing it after all these years!
I plan on following him around on part of the tour this year.....best Life
@@dorsonwillson6837 make sure you're triple faxxed.
After the gold rush is a great allbum! Brings back so many fond memories of being young and surfing.
Me too
Every time I watch this I get a little more jealous of the select few who had the privilege to witness this concert live
But remember all those who weren't listening as long as us!! 😊
Neil's considered the RAT OF ROCK N ROLL. HES A COMMIE MARXIST LIBERAL WEAKLING. HE MARCHES W THE WOMEN BUT HES SILENT WHEN THEY ALLOW TRANS MEN TO COMPETE IN WOMEN'S SPORTS. NEILS A TYPICAL HYPOCRITICAL LIBERAL LEFTIST.... AND SPOTIFY INCIDENT IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HIS HYPOCRITICAL BACK PEDDELING. LOVE HIS NOISE BUT NOT HIM AS A MAN. A WEAK MAN... WITH SHIT FOR BRAINS.... WHY ARE MUSICIANS WEAK IN THEIR POLITICAL VIEWS??? PEACE AND LOVE IS A BULLSHIT PIPE DREAM THATS NEVER BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE.
I was 13 when this song was popular and now that im 65 i sing this song to myself but change the words to " old man look at my life now im just like you were..."
Old Man... a beautiful simple melody... that's sure not easy to play. Watch his left hand when he hits the chorus... wow. At the time this was recorded, his messages in his songs were amplified by the strength of his musicianship. Born in 1952, I was in college when he began his solo career after CSNY. Those first 3 albums were the soundtrack to my college years in the first half of the 70s. Vietnam was still reaping its bitter harvest of young Americans, politics in the US was becoming highly polarized over support of the war. Listening to these songs today I find that they still carry the power to soothe a frayed and worried soul.
The number of incredible, beautiful, powerful songs he has that he hasn’t even played here is mind boggling.
I am Michael Matthias Frohn Mühlstroh und Jesus Christus!!! Overwehlming und Wunderschön und Wunderbar!!! ❤❤❤😂!!! Buy me Neil Young!!! Make my day!!! Do Something good!!! A great Performance!!! Good morning world!!! Thank you for this Songs!!! A masterpiece and a Diamond!!!
in 1973 I heard those words "just find someone whose turning and you will come around" never forgot them.
My sister burned this on a CD for me around 2000. Must of listened to it like a hundred times. And here’s the video!! Gotta love UA-cam! Thanks Neil! Thanks UA-cam! And most importantly; thanks sis!!! Love you Andrea ❤❤❤❤
Neil was so young then, his music reflects this younger outlook at the time.
I love these BBC "In Concert" where the artists are unaccompanied by other musicians. The audience in this session are hearing many of these classic tunes for the first time, before they became "ear worms". I've never heard "Love in Mind", very nice. What a treat this is!
I'd be stunned if I was in the audience at that time
1960's -70's was a 20 year span of Magical Music. It is only 50 years later that those of us who lived it are realizing just how magical that time was. It is heartwarming and hopeful to see young people today appreciating and showing respect to the 100's of truly gifted musicians who made that Magic happen.
Would have given anything to see him on his World tour . Beautiful man . Beautiful music . I love you Mr Neil .
That comment has not aged well ...he has been a grumpy fucked up clown for years now ...
I discover Neil Young trough Harvest. This concert is a gift to the fans of this period and who still are as I am. Thanks for the journey Neil.
Me too I love “Harvest”, 1st heard as a freshman in college ‘78, my new friend turned me on to Neil.
When i was.in New York i actually want see my idol so i went there Palladium place 😊neil YOUNG.SOLO ACOustic MAN HE HAD A SWEET awesome voice, it was a life time experience.
Neil "Gonna sing another new one now" Launches into Heart of Gold. 😎 Audio and video clarity great for that era.
This is Neil at his Zenith, pure talent. Album's were like the Beatles better and better. After goldrush , Harvest, on the beach his masterpiece just pissing in the wind
Beautiful albums, I've got them too and still like them, after more then 50 years!
This music you ALWAYS KEEP LOVING!
Albums of him n Crosby Stills Nash & Young are forever,
A Journey . Neil has taken us on the most fantastic Journey we could ever dream of . ❤❤❤. Love his little skits he does . You are a beautiful man Mr Neil . We will always love you. ❤❤❤
Here's to listening to your songs for 50+ years !!! 🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️💥💫
本当に良い。大好きで今でも頻繁に聴いてる。高校の同級生に『聴くべき一枚』と紹介され初めて聴いたハーベスト。50年前の感動は今も色褪せない。

Neil picked my Mom. My Aunt and myself hitch hiking and round 😂1972
WOW
As someone who grew up with "Ohio" and "Southern Man", he has had one HELL of a career. That plaintive voice of a generation.
Born in 1979 to young to see this master piece Neil Young one of my favorite of All time 🔥🙌🔥🙌
He’s still playn look for mm

From that first note on the harmonica, I gets chills, oh my, love this song.
My ex husband was a bass player & jammed w/his 2 older brothers. Best friend Doug, was an acoustic player who sounded “voice” wise just like Neil, even looked like him physically but with sandy blonde hair. Music men make me so happy. Thanks Neil!
This is awesome! I hope you stay at 76 subscribers so we can listen to Full concerts like this gem with no interruptions! Whoa, this show blew my mind! Wow! What a fucking TREAT for this longtime fan! Thank you so much - god?
It's about one/third of actual full concert
@@AMEER-114-whhhhat where’s the full
@@OBS-ip2hy
I was pointing out the sad, lameness of tv productions and how they always used to only share a fraction of a concert that was filmed....
If you investigate...
A full Neil Y. concert in 1971 ran about 90mins or more...like the MASSEY HALL show in Toronto...and numerous others..
So, it stands to reason that he didnt go all the way to London and fail to do the full show that he was normally doing...
Especially when he knew it was being professionally filmed by one of the major channels of the whole world....
So...if it wasnt destroyed, the rest of the footage would have been released when this small portion was released on dvd by Neil a while back...
Odd seeing such tones coming out of a young man. He was Never young to me. So turns the world, I suppose.
Faster than you know 🖖🏽
That's fair. Yeah. Fairly said and fairly received. @@donilagringaloca

Kudos to the BBC for documenting important cultural moments like this, and all of the other musicians they recorded from the 60’s onwards. So important for us as people.
A simple story line in a complex way old man his greatest piece ever makes us think of our own grandpa with a tear in my eye this I write just why, maybe it’s your feeling too, Oh thank you Neil ,,your the man of our own with a memory in each tone n every note you’ve playn I’m 63 now so you’ve been playin most of the story line memories I’ve got

Appreciate on Neil Young to get famous and hits when he young 😉🙂🎶🎵👍🏻
I like his voice and lyrics.a unique voice.
Neils voice is so smooth and so beautifully blends with his acoustic playing here. Amazing moment for the audience, and a joy to see it captured for us to marvel at.
He has such a high pitch alot of rockers didn't like that but he don't give af
Totally agree. He's a story-teller. Like Dylan. The quiet guy, who when he has everyone's attention, blows everyone's mind softens everyone's heart. So glad we have these videos. My favorite part of this video will always be him awkwardly talking before he plays Heart of Gold. So great!!

Another sad song. My life is changing in so many ways I don't know what to anymore. A maid , it's hard to make that change. To live a love, you got to part of. A man needs a maid. When will I see you again
His one of my idle in folk songs, his great to me.

I’ll never forget the tears we shared together watching this for the first time, and the tears it brings me now hold a whole new meaning
Love you brother bear
This is Neill at his best!
I've watched this Performance...I Truly have No idea how many times and it still... wordless...
Hello, how are you doing today? It’s nice to meet you on here.
A real musician, a real singer, a real songwriter (without 5 other people who actually write the songs), real talent, actually singing live, and all analogue too. No auto-tune or lots of other digital help. And don't be fooled by most mainstream 'acoustic singers' today, they use auto-tune on their records and also live. You can hear it too, it's awful, it's soulless trash. I just can't listen to anything like at all. Neil Young is a class act and a good soul.
2024 I'm still listening.❤❤❤
This man evokes emotions in me Id forgotten about... 😢
(*especially "Man Needs A Maid" ...if you didn't cry then, you will now ..)
I was one year old in 1971,and when I was twenty I start to listening Neil Young, first aqustic and lately elektric gitar, great musiican and songwriter, one of I can listen always, sad or happy,he always take me to another dimenzioniranje where there is nothing but music, gift for my ears and soul...thank you for being you all your life Neil Young, you are Heart of Gold

My second year at Sea... 1971 ! I had do 4 years before I really got the full treats in USA ROCK
The more I listen, the more this and all the other 1970-1971 live shows blow me away. His voice is so strong, his guitar playing is awesome, he's engaging and funny. Far and away his best work.
Don't let it bring you down it's only castle burning
"Dead man laying by the side of the road with the daylight in his eyes" gives me goosebumps. How does someone think of that?
That is one of most powerful and devastating lyrics I’ve ever heard. ‘It’s only castles burning…’

I’m watching this right now and this version of A Man Needs A Maid is magnificent. 45 years ago my goal was to own every Neil Young Album. Vinyl of course. The first real singer songwriter I ever listened to. A part of my youth and a part of my life I will always treasure. Neil Young is one of those artists that no one sounds even remotely like. He’s a treasure and I will always love his music.
C est tellement beau, pure et cette voix superbe. Apres le prix Charles Cross, je le redecouvre, jeune , merveilleusement doué, une prestation orchestrale acoustique géniale. Quel incroyable talent. Merci. Longue vie à vous.❤
