My big brother shared Neil with me when I was about 8 yrs old and I fell in love with him. Still enjoy jamming lots of his music. Love Cortez the Killer, passed his music on to my own kids and now my Grands. Saw him "Down By the River" at Memphis in May few years ago with the same big brown who turned me on to him. Love him, love him love him❤
I love it when Neil goes the full Frankenstein on these extended jams. He’s one of the few guitar players I know of who will almost stop playing, think about what he’s feeling and then start up again in a different direction. He’s one of a kind.
Neil is my all time favorite guitarist. I’ve had many people laugh at my choice of Neil as the best. They just don’t get it. Nobody goes off like Neil, he’s in a trance. The best!!!
Only because he's not afraid to try new things and critics hate that that's why you can't listen to them and you go by what you like obviously we're together with Neil Young
It just doesn't get any better. A riveting love song wrapped in a guitarists dream......one of the original jam band songs. Rock and roll will never die!
Yep. A Love song in the most primalMedieval manifestation of which each of us, man or woman, knows how so close to being capable of. . Who else gets chills even after hearing this 30,000 or more times?

FUNNY...I just posted that on UA-cam. I ALWAYS thought Neil was a different musician with this band. Basically a two chord rhythm by Frank. Just an EPIC jam.
Agree with you live they were all impressive and my favs of Neil Young's music was with Crazy Horse! Whether live or all the albums! They seems to flow with his genius! When with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby,Stills, Nash and Young it was his talent mostly sorry that is how I have noticed over the years!

When I was 15 my dad bought me a electric guitar 🎸. I wanted to be a musician. Later, dumb move .... I got married to a GI. He broke my guitar 🎸 in pieces. 😭. I went to see NY in concert after the divorce. Years later I found myself in a pawn shop and bought two guitars. 🎸 🎸 And while caring for a old man. I found myself one evening writing 20 songs. Neil Young 🌱 inspired me to write ✍️ a few of these. The lyrics were very powerful because it almost changed the direction of my life. 🤐😎✌️❤️🌼🎶

Für mich die absolut beste Live Version von " Down by the River " von Superstar Neil Young... Amazing ✌️... Amazing ✌️...was ist das für eine fantastische Version... damit macht sich Superstar Neil Young unsterblich ✌️✌️✌️💋
There was a profile of Neil Young in the NY Times Magazine a few years ago, and the author asked Bob Dylan, through Dylan's manager, for his thoughts. Later, the manager passed-along a paper from Bob which said that Neil would always have the advantage dealing with the corporate world, and even the wider world, because the music was his only concern. That article would be worth finding; it said Neil was very good at making money, which was a good thing because he was also good at making it go away (What can I say, I like to hire people and build things). He can also be a cranky hippie (To Stephen Stills: I decided not to go on that tour we've been planning for months, eat a peach).

When Neil sings "Sugar Mountain" he brings us to a very pure safe place in our childhood.I am so grateful to have been able to buy his vinyl albums as a young teenager. His messages of prophecy are all rooted in the highest truth. Anyone who becomes a friend of his learns to care about what is most important. As I add this comment I would like to wish him a beautiful 75th birthday today November 13, 2020. When you were born, the mold was broken. Here's wishing you great health and prosperity from here to eternity. Blessings always!Keep safe and may you always have divine protection.I'm always on your side Mr. Neil Young.
Having been in some awful garage bands, when I finally broke into a good band this was one of the essential songs we could jam to for as long as the audience could stand it.

@Diane Thank you for the cheers and incredible love. How are you today?
My big brother shared Neil with me when I was about 8 yrs old and I fell in love with him. Still enjoy jamming lots of his music. Love Cortez the Killer, passed his music on to my own kids and now my Grands. Saw him "Down By the River" at Memphis in May few years ago with the same big brown who turned me on to him. Love him, love him love him❤
@Lilian Thank you for the cheers and incredible love. How are you today?
The world's most awesome garage band....just some 50 year Olds jamming in their garage....in front of thousands of people. ❤❤❤
Wow 30 years and I still feel in my thirty’s listening to this classic. Crank it up
I love it when Neil goes the full Frankenstein on these extended jams. He’s one of the few guitar players I know of who will almost stop playing, think about what he’s feeling and then start up again in a different direction. He’s one of a kind.
truly one of a kind.
Yeah, it's hard to think of the courage to let it all out.
Kinda like 'dance like no one's watching'.
I’ve just realised why his movements are odd he wears lead boots
one of a kind says it all
Neil is my all time favorite guitarist. I’ve had many people laugh at my choice of Neil as the best. They just don’t get it. Nobody goes off like Neil, he’s in a trance. The best!!!
Neil is real.
The most underrated musician over the last 40 years.
Only because he's not afraid to try new things and critics hate that that's why you can't listen to them and you go by what you like obviously we're together with Neil Young
My hero been listening since I was 14 truned 60 this month.
Not sure on what planet Neil qualifies as "underrated".
That's probably Phish by a loooonnggg shot. Neil rocks too.
Neil’s a rock god. Not underrated at all
It just doesn't get any better. A riveting love song wrapped in a guitarists dream......one of the original jam band songs. Rock and roll will never die!

Who else gets chills even after hearing this 30,000 or more times?

No one plays or sings like Neil. Such a creative and impassioned man, so full of anger and expresses his view of the world with all his heart and soul. God bless him.
anger yes, but love too
U got that right
Truly Blessed with Passion as a man, writer, lead vocals & hammers his guitar. Nails it every time. 💕🎸🎵🙏

Neil Young never really changed. Was a gift from Canada. A true rocker.
CANT GET ENOUGH OF HIS MUSIC, A TRUE GIFT FROM OUR NEIGHBOR COUNTRY
He actually changed musically quite a bit. From one genre to the other, but you're right. He's definitely a rocker.
The greatest Canadian after William Shatner ...Rock On Capt. Kirk. I have to go now , its med time.

I don't consume any kind of crazy things, but when I have something that unbalances me emotionally, sentimentally or I'm working and I'm stressed, this is my medicine, I can't stop listening to it! the solos, their peace, the vibe!! It's really the best I've ever heard
Thanks for sharing your thoughts into words. Just like song writer do
This seriously may be one of the best versions of this song
omg the recording is so trippy well produced, it just snaps, I mean absolutely SNAPS in my headphones!! You are correct sir tim, fabulous version of this tune.
It really is
Very trippy!!!
Takes me WAY back!
Absolutely. And having the video to go with it...Whaat!!
Live at the Fillmore East was pretty damn good...
No doubt Neil has a very different groove with Crazy Horse he seems to be able go deeper and the horse just follows him without any hesitation
Well thank you
Saw Neil with Crazy Horse years ago, they freakin' rocked out. One of the best concerts I ever saw.
No doubt Neil Young with crazy horse was always his best music in my opinion
I could hear this a hundred times and still get chills. And this is only one of his works of art
That's how I feel about "Hurricane"
I love Change Your Mind 😍
I do agree. And from his great album everybody.... . Powderfinger a good nr.2
Chills right now

When I was 15 my dad bought me a electric guitar 🎸. I wanted to be a musician. Later, dumb move .... I got married to a GI. He broke my guitar 🎸 in pieces. 😭. I went to see NY in concert after the divorce. Years later I found myself in a pawn shop and bought two guitars. 🎸 🎸 And while caring for a old man. I found myself one evening writing 20 songs. Neil Young 🌱 inspired me to write ✍️ a few of these. The lyrics were very powerful because it almost changed the direction of my life. 🤐😎✌️❤️🌼🎶
I was down on myself for awhile, for not living up to my hero's standards.
I'm here in 2024, who's still listening 🎶 👀 😳? Someone said in a comment that he does a "rain dance " 🕺 on stage! Lol Well, thats Neil Young! Love his music 🎶 🎵 and always will. Who else? He jams!

A Canadian national treasure. Such a gift of an artist, such an inspiration to many musicians 🙏
He's a U.S. citizen as well now, so both sides get to claim him as a national treasure! I too, am a dual citizen, so I'm double-dipping on this one!
he belongs to all of us... :)

Neil is positively possessed by the spirit of music

Agreed. It should be in the dictionary under great rock solos and performances
Neil Young.
Csn let neil back in. Try "the southern cross"
You should write poetry. As opposed to BAD poetry, I mean.
It's about drugs
Sugar Mountain almost got me kicked out of boarding school - snuck into the girls dorm to share it with Debbie and Susie
Having been in some awful garage bands, when I finally broke into a good band
this was one of the essential songs we could jam to for as long as the audience could stand it.

He makes it look almost "effortless" too, hahaha

Anyone else can play this one on continuous loop like me?
Neil Young's guitar isn't often mentioned. His voice is the delivery but listen to him play. It is amazingly entertaining. I love his music with Crazy Horse. I saw them live and I will never forget the experience.
