That made my morning coffee break, Thank you for posting. I was employed in the tunnel trade most of my working life and of course so were many Irish Men. Traveling around the world with them was great fun and even getting an invite to the Irish Embassy in Cairo because I knew them was great. While working at Heathrow Ter 4 build in the escalator shaft for the Heathrow Express, the works were right next to the police office and officers would often watch the guys working from the window. During some wait time the lads started dancing on the temporary works stage, and to see them doing this in work boots was hilarious. What's more to see 20 or so coppers watching, laughing and applauding was even better.
I applauded the spirit of family, community, celebration. Its a beautiful site to see. Im Italian and these are the things we cherish most (other than food, wine and Jesus)

My best friend is an amazing Irish Dancer as well and she was nice enough to also be a part of a dance sequence at a wedding we were at where she was the MOH and she and the bride and a few other stragglers had been dancing previously but hadn’t stuck with it like my bff. When I first started watching I was thinking, ‘how is this going to sound without their tap shoes’? This video proves beyond a doubt, you don’t need them!! I felt the same happiness as if I was watching a show! What an amazing group of people to be able to bring the same feelings as a production would bring! And even when the music stopped, it was still absolutely beautiful! Awesome job! Loved when even more people came out! The bride and groom dancing was adorable! I loved every second of this! you never wear tap shoes for irish dancing, tap shoes are their own thing, they are used in tap dancing. They have a metal thing at the top that makes a sound. Irish dancing shoes are just plain leather pretty much, you can get them heavy or light and the sound comes from the heel not the front

So much exuberance and talent on display in this video. Now that looks like it would have been a fun wedding to attend. My dad was a waist gunner on a B-17 stationed in England during WWII. He wouldn't talk to me about his experiences during the war, but he would talk endlessly about Ireland and how beautiful it was there and how friendly the people were to him. He and I talked about going to visit Ireland together, but I ended up getting married and had two kids so we never made our trip there as we had planned. I suck at dancing. I mean suuuuuck. The bride looked so lovely and she and her husband danced so well together. Then the adorable and absolutely gorgeous young lady in the short red dress hit the floor and I was mesmerized by her skillful dancing, her phenomenal physical condition, and her stunning beauty. All the dancers appeared to be in excellent condition. I'd be huffing and puffing like a bellows at a blacksmith fire, but these folks were in such excellent shape they appeared to be unfazed by their derverish like movements. You could also tell that there was a lot of love for each other in that room. My the bride and groom live a long and happy life together. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with the rest of us to enjoy.
We aren't Irish, but in my family we delight this dance!!! My eldest daughter has tried to learn it, but we live en México and there isn't any academy where to practice it. As a Traditional Roman Catholic, tradition captures the hints of the past and expresses it fully in the present. One dancer looks fabulous, but when more dancers enter the role as to which music sucks you in, it becomes a great spectacle. May the union of these two couples dance their way into a true sacramental union and may their offspring love the arts of dancing for years to come as their ancestors once did. Amen.
So much fun and energy! The reason the Irish dancer's don't move their arms is because it knocked down the candles, in the barn or in the houses and set the place on fire, long long ago. Some cultures learn from their mistakes to guide their young and some don't.
Always been a big fan of Irish dancing. Growing up in Kilburn there was always dancing at my friends weddings and it's even more impressive in real life. You get a whole new appreciation for it when you give it a go!
