    i never played a dumble or dumble pedal and don't listen to any guitaristrs who use dumbles. all i know is i was thinking about getting a pedal amp of some kind a week before this came out, then this came out and i listened to a few demos and it sounded good so i ordered it and so far i'm glad i did because it sounds a lot better than the amp sim software i have been using and i can't really play my tube amps in my apartment.

      Glad you decided for yourself. Separately, I don't like looking at the computer when playing the guitar, so these pedals allow me to "unplug" from computers.

    I remember Alexander Dumble gave a very short interview where he was asked why tubes sound better than solid state. He basically said the fragile harmonics apparently survive in a vacuum tube environment whereas in a solid state, they are squashed. So….if it ain’t tube, it shouldn’t be marketed as the Dumble sound to me, at least not for nearly 400 bucks ! it needs to incorporate tubes that preserve the harmonics or it’s a non starter.

    It’s fun with headphones or through a monitor using the stock cab sims. Through a tube power amp into real cab though…. Really great sounding!

    I would be surprised if the latency on the UAFX pedals is 10ms. That sounds high, it's probably closer to 2-3ms

      Incorrect info, it’s absolutely not 10ms of latency. Also latency has no bearing on accurate modeling of sound. I’m not buying this pedal either because I prefer analog stuff, but you have definitely misunderstood the tech. Just fact checking here.

    I may not know what openness is, but I know what it is when I hear it. In an effort to get that openness I will use my original Zen Drive, or Ethos Custom Tones OD, but rather than going in front of an amp, I go directly into the return of the effects loop of my Mesa Boogie Mk IIC+... I couldn't say whether it sounds like a Dumble but it does has that openness. But I haven't heard one Enigmatic '82 OD demo that has that open sound. It compresses.. lots of pedals compress. But it doesn't have that Dumble like sound.

    I respect your opinion but have a few questions: Comparing this pedal to Dumbles you have heard and not payed is not very realistic. If you have never played a Dumble (I assume by your comments you have not) then what you have most likely heard are full band mixed recordings or mixed live sounds at a concert.
    I don't know if you can say what this pedal will and will not do if you haven't actually put it through its paces.
    I will be the first to say you need to really need to understand the myriad of options in this pedal. It has a lot going on and takes some understanding before you can get what you may be looking for.
    I also have not played a Dumble but have heard many live and on record. I have some of the best D clone amps on the market today. I A/B'd this against those amps and was able to dial them in to the point I could not tell the difference. Did it take me a while? Yes. But like anything once you learn it you can explore deeper. The D pedals (I have had most all of them) sound like a midrange and low mid hump and have a very smooth breakup. Yes, they are cool but very one dimensional IMO.
    Also don't forget the cleans on the Enigmatic.....Stellar

    • @EdPettersen
      @EdPettersen  Місяць тому

      Perhaps you haven't watched the last few videos (or any of mine on Dumble) all the way through, but I have played real Dumbles. Each one is uniquely different. So, I do have a real reference to compare. Plus, I've played over 100 Dumble-esque pedals, many I have categorized, reviewed and spoken about here on my channel.

    • @EdPettersen
      @EdPettersen  Місяць тому

      @brandoncharles4781 Because every real Dumble amp is different and these are modeled from the 4 they had? What era? For whom were the amps made? Etc., etc. There are a lot of variables.
