I bought a (really cheap) Nux ir loader and put that in the fx loop of a line 6 firehawk fx to replace the fx cab sims and it makes a world of difference to the way it sounds. Would really recommend something like this as a backup rig or bedroom practice
I think the best use for the POD 2.0 is when you put a new trash bag in your trash can. If you drop it in, it weighs the bag down so it's not all puffed up in the can. 🤘🏼😎🍺
Damn, the hm2 directly into the cab box was quite surprising at how good it sounds. I'm new to this technology and have lots of older equipment that seems like it could easily be integrated into more modern setups. Thanks for your dedication to showcasing the limitless possibilities in the quest for the heaviest tones.
I'm genuinely impressed with that. It sounds as good as the Two Notes Cab M. The Two Notes has more effects it seems but it's also $120 more. Hmm very interested. When I play live I always like the option of taking my bass to front of house as early in the chain as possible along with the fully effected signal to blend together. Some clubs just don't have the equipment to do that. This will definitely help that.

Hey Taylor!!!!....SO BASS player here.....looking at the different new multi effects units that support 3rd party IRs ...such as line6 hx stomp..pod go...and mooer 200 ..nux300 ..ect ect...BUT run an OLD korg ax30B and a Bass V Amp pro....could this allow me to run 3rd party IRs for bass ..and get rid of some of my older gear????...bought all new smaller lighter cabs and head ...trying to scale down in SIZE ...NOT TONE!!!!!!...
you could absolutely use this to run 3rd party IR's. Especially if you already have a bass preamp you like! The modelers you mentioned are aimed at guitar players, and IMO don't have the best bass options. The only exceptional modeler with a bass option I've found is the Axefx 3 with the Darkglass pedal. But it would be outrageous to buy one specifically for that 😂

Stick with your pod 500x and buy something like this ir loader or even a torpedo cab m. I had the line 6 pod go, hx stomp, mooer ge 150/200/250/300 and the Harley benton one here. Your pod hd does everything you could ever want and has tons of dsp for effects! The preamps are still top! Also you have a shitload of in and outs, which would cost you a lot more on other modellers.

The cab box is just an IR loader, so think of it as the cabinet in your signal chain. It will take whatever you put in front of a cab the same as a cabinet would

I have the Rocktron Prophecy, Digitech GSP2101 & the ISP tech Theta pro preamps that doesn't have 3rd party IR loader in it that I run into the two notes cab to run my favorites IR's through..!!! I also have the Kemper, Helix, Axefx II & III, Have you tried the Mooer Radar pedal by chance...?

I want to use 3rd party ir, but joyo have the thru out, so I can hear the pod in a cab (with my velocity rocktron) and the balanced out direct to the PA. Am I correct? So, would I buy the joyo? The radar in the fx loop is better??
Nice review. This looks a lot nicer than the mooer radar and a good way to breathe life into a preamp or old modeler. But I don't believe anyone other than UA-camrs is using a jellybean in 2020 still 😂. And if they are it doesn't make sense to throw good money when for the cost of this you could get a cheap modeler that is still miles ahead of the pod 2. Great job as always.
Thanks! Probably not. I just wanted to demonstrate what can be done with a proper IR loader. If you can get a POD 2.0 to sound good, then they are probably a good investment, especially if you own a studio or like to mess around with older gear.
Great review! I was wondering if you ran into issues with the Cab Box clipping. I’m running straight from pedalboard to the Cab Box and when I turn on my boost or a high gain overdrive, it begins to clip.
Thanks! Yeah, the input is pretty sensitive.. You can dial back the input gain and make sure your output on whatever is going into it is low so you have some headroom
Those are pretty handy to use live for a DI, or you can use it as a DI after your FX loop for recording. Man, I hate being an engineer, it keeps me from finishing a song.
Lol yep this is what I do with the PODXT PRO in one of the loops of the axe fx 3, I run the big bottom in parallel with the Uber and 6 cabs, and if I'm feeling like disturbing the peace I run it through my vht 2/90/2 and I have a 412 lead 1960A with the old British V30s and green backs and mesa oversized cab. Total nuclear annihilation

I finally got the Joyo Cab Box and I love it. One thing I have yet to see and hear about in every single review, is how awesome the built in IRs sound once you disable the built in Graphic EQ. Could you please checkout out? Especially my ultra favorite preset for the Matchless ChiefTain. The preset came alive when I turned off the Graphic EQ. I did enable the Parametric EQ and only applied the low and high filters to taste. Do you have an idea why all the built in presets have the Graphic EQ enabled? They sound as if they have a blanket over the sound. But once you turn off Graphic EQ and apply Parametric EQ the preset comes alive! Sorry for long post but grateful for your video!

I agree with the commenters here. Taking a load off your amp is serious business, and definitely not something you want to cut corners with to save a few bucks. I have one of the older Mesa Cab Clones, and it works to take the load from my amps (even thought I'd never use the cab emulation, yuck) and I can tell you that even that gets HOTTTTT at pretty reasonable master volume levels... like 3-4.

If there's a problem, they must issue recalls. As for a small Chinese company making a little niche product like a load box. I can assure you they follow no regulations and will do anything to cut the price down or else why buy from them when you can buy a Torpedo, Suhr and whatnot? Personally for this type of things, I won't cheap out.

I knew the Pod HD sounded good with third party IRs but I was shocked at how decent the Pod 2.0 sounded with a good IR.
In my studio, I run an Amptweaker Tight Metal into a Moorer Radar (very similar) and the results are amazing.
Yeah, I've way undervalued the flexibility of having one of these IR loaders on hand. Now I want to try it on all my gear 😂

Both the pod HD and the POD 2.0 sounded better with the stock cabs. Something I've found with my POD X3 as well.

In a mix, you probably couldn't tell too much... but playing through them is really uninspiring. They are pretty flat. That might be a "feel" thing.

They sort of feel that way, but TBH I think they are fine. The build quality of the box overall is pretty sturdy.
