This was easily one of the most informative videos I've watched on UA-cam. Really appreciate your research, presentation and the work you put into it. Thank you!
I loved that too. Had a fender spring reverb with a distortion/verb pedal and with an AB splitter I was able to play with 3 amps at once and used this insane stereo tremolo wave effect through them and then could add the delay or distortion on the signal.... So yeah 👍 good//great times with my POD. The only thing that rivaled that (in versatility but not portability) Was their 74 pound AX 2x12
Love this review! I'm still on X3 Pro, still happy with it but the one thing that would entice me to upgrade is sonic quality. It's a bit difficult for me to hear the differences until toward the end when he strings them up one after another...WOW! Now I'm contemplating moving to their latest generation. Just keep in mind this is testing the sound for only one genre of music. One of the things I love about all of the PODs is the versatility. In a set I have to go from full-out heavy to a ballad and many tones in between and the POD X3 does it for me superbly. I spent quite a bit of time programming and dialing in all the tones I needed but after that, smooth sailing!
A really well-made video! Really enjoyed it! I got a POD X3 Live a few years back for not much money, and have loved it ever since! I got mine mainly because it's great for the early Tesseract and Monuments tones, but it does so many other things great as well. It's really versatile for both live and especially the studio, and is much more flexible than the HD series IMHO. And with a good IR, I think it can still hold its own today!
I STILL USE THE POD X3 PRO. SAME ONE YOU GOT IN THE VIDEO. FYI the pro3 does bass also. So i use it for that ALOT!. The bass patches are great. KEEP THAT THING $$$
Great historic video. Don't miss at 24:23. It's funny because i don't listen to this kind of music but for my taste the POD 2.0 with custom IR was my favorite. Fat sound with smooth top end. I knew it but now i know it better : IR impulse are SO important. Thanks man
I bought one of the last X3Pro's when the HDPro had already come out. I still use it, but about two years ago I put a Mooer Cab X2 - IR-Loader into the FX-Loop of the X3Pro. I don't use any other effects in the loop, so I can program to either use the built in IRs, which I do for clean tones or, for my heavy distorted tones I run through some "Mesa Oversized V30" IRs. As the Mooer Cab X2 is stereo/2-channel, I put one center-cone mic'd and one edge mic'd IR in the two channels. So when I send the two main XLR outs of the X3Pro directly to FOH, the sound guy can mix the two channels as needed, similar to moving the mic in front of the cab. I also have a 200W mono class-D Amp in the back of my rack to drive a 4x12 cab, which gets a mix of the two channels. And yes, I compared with and without the IR-loader into the class-D and the 4x12, and I prefer it with the IRs.
Great job on this video. Probably the best comparison video I've seen on UA-cam. I've owned POD products for years and you're exactly right. The stock IRs is what hurt them until recently. I always ended up using the POD or PODHD into an amp and cabinet using the FX return and used the POD for a pre-amp and effects. I run it through a pair of Marshalls and delay one side 20ms. It's a very nice stereo effect.
Nice video! I was just digging through my buddies garage and found a pod HD pro sitting there, I consider hooking it up just to see what tones were in there. My friend insisted that there were no good tones in that thing, I will have to show him this video, thanks for the shootout!
You can get really good tones out of it! Just have to know how to work it... also if you aren't going into a real cab, get a mooer radar or something and run it through the FX loop.
My POD 2.0 expired within the last two weeks. It was a trusty sidekick for nearly 20 years. I'm trying to decide on whether a POD GO is a suitable replacement or whether I should be more spendy and get a Helix LT. Not really likely that I need 32 blocks, so the GO is probably enough.
@@johanndaart7326 I can solder, but good luck soldering surface-mount optical sensors. Not an easy fix by any stretch and, well, in 2020 just not worth it. Still haven't replaced it. I've just been enjoying some quality time with my DSL.
That Line6 history bit was really interesting! I had an XT live and an HD500 after, sold them both when I stopped gigging. I still have the bean XT, and still like some of the tones from it. I know a couple of pro guys over here who preferred the XT over HD for live. Congrats on 5k! :)
Growing up, my first and only amp was a Line 6 Flextone II...essentially the POD 2.0 tech in an amp body. I owe the versatility and variety of sounds on that thing to a lot of my early excitement for the guitar. Fast forward 12 years, and after messing with “real” amps for a short time, I’ve got the POD Go and honestly, am pretty happy with that as my main rig
The Gain Boost on the 2.0 doesn't really act like a pedal. It just adds more distortion. Add a proper Tube Screamer to the chain and the POD 2.0 metal tones start to come alive. Especially if you can find the old Deftones and Fear Factory patches.
My first modeler was the pod 2.0 and just got the pod go. The sound quality is so improved in the pod go over the 2.0 . I was amazed at the sound of the 2.0 with the third party ir. Sounded killer to me.
Excellent comparison and indeed, the biggest problem with the Line 6 products are the included IR/cabs. I also think the overdrive and distortion pedals are a bit meh... A year ago I bought the Mooer Radar pedal and I run it with my Pod HD500 in the FX Loop. Loaded with the Bogren or Mendel IR it sounds really good. You can get a used HD500 for a really good price and if you load it with a IR pedal/loader you’ve a solid piece of gear for gigs or recording.
Hi Taylor, Great video is a video that a lot of people desired so much. I used to have line 6 pod x3 live, hd500 and I used to run through these in fx return of my amps as well 4 cable method to my experience sounded very well especially hd500. Now, i have a pod Go running through a frfr speaker and can't be more happy about the sound. Will you do the same thing with effects? Saludos desde México!
I have been a pod user going all the way back to the original bean. I agree fully that the cab IR's is where every generation has suffered. That being said while I still use mainly IR's with my Helix i must say the stock IR's while not perfect are lightyears better than they used to be. I have a few custom patches I have made that use stock cabs and they sound great. The secret I find in using stock cabs with the Helix is really taking time to take time and really edit the cab settings. That being said while I can usually get a great tone with stock cabs it's a lot easier to just load in great 3rd party IR a get instant great tone.
Wow! This is a fantastic explanation of Line 6 origins and background info. Most Excellent! I got Pod Go a while back and (like you) have a number of previous Line 6 hardware items (GuitarPort, TonePort UX2, TonePort UX10, Spider IV 150 w/ (upgraded Eminence 2X12" speakers). So far, I've been really impressed w/ Pod Go. I don't necessarily love EVERYTHING about it (footpedal could be better) - but it's mostly GREAT otherwise! Seems to deliver a wide variety of tones and textures for ALL types of music! Always loved this company and happy to see they've still got (at least) most of their MOJO from the last 2 decades of cutting-edge audio technology.
I have Helix Native, Pod Go, Spider V 240HC (overall get around and most user features favorite) and an Amplifi 150 which I still think sounds great because of it's stereo Hi Mid coaxial squeakers and it's common 12" Celestion woofer gives it like a custom IR sound. 🤘
I have a POD 2.0, an POD HD500, a Helix and a POD Go. The original POD (still!) and the Helix sound fantastic. Easy to get great sounds out of. The POD HD500 and the POD Go, I constantly struggle with getting good tones from. I don't know why this is (obviously, I wish I knew), but I've worked with all of them extensively, and this is my $0.02 on them.
Excellent - thanks. So, basically .. find a way to output through an apprpriate IR .. and they can all walk the walk.:) I have a Pod X3 Live floor unit. I know its limitations, but with some tweaking and when just using it to enjoy playing - and not A/B'ing with anything .. it literally rocks.
I never owned a pod, but I feel like from having a Spider IV 75 watt amp, I assumed Line 6 was quantity over quality until I started seeing the Helix products come out. The POD range was definitely a pretty revolutionary step in modeling and the PODgo is a device that I honestly want to get my hands on. The Achilles heel is definitely the cab emulation, as you've said, but with the third party IRs, the sound of these units really comes to life. I was honestly pretty surprised at how much better even the pod 2.0 sounded with custom IRs.
Significantly, right? I was pretty surprised at how it sounded when I got it (the 2.0), I don't remember them sounding good, but there are a few good amps in there!
@@TaylorDanley I've noticed this a lot with gear and even other subjects, gaming. I've noticed that quite a few people see the big name UA-cam channels express a view on a topic and rather than formulate their own opinion, they echo the sentiment of the channels they watched. It's nice to see some content which eschews such bias.
If Line6 opened the POD HD line for custom IR's, the Helix line would never have moved off the shelf! This was an awesome demo and will be pairing some IR's with my POD HD 500 to see what it sounds like
Am I crazy, or does the stock IR in the POD HD sound better than the stock IR in the POD GO? The only Line 6 product I have is a DT25 combo, which is only because it was an incredible deal. It has the HD amp models built into it, and sounds decent for what it is.

When I owned a Helix, I always went for the BE100, Mark IV, or Badonk. The Badonk didn't need a boost at all and just sounded great right away. Any chance we can get a part 2 of the Budget Modeler shootout including the POD go and 3rd party IRs?
Havent seen this video yet ... Just was a huge fan of the original pod... And a little disappointed with the preset up sounds offered in the 2.0, but still am/was a HUGE ENTHUSIAST so im really excited to see what you have to say
Great demo. The POD Go sounds much much better to me. I had one of the POD red rack effects. I just used it to practice and I don't remember what amps I used. Believe it or not digi tech I thought back in the day had the best modeler at the time. Today AxeFx is killer and I love it, but don't own it. Kemper too, but I am playing thru a Katana mk2 and love it with the fine studio once I adjusted parametric eq and got rid of the 800mhz and 8kz and I changed the air, etc. It rocks and has all the sounds I need and I change everything with a foot switch. Great review sir. Dig that Ibanez S series. I have an old SV that I holoflashed that is killer!. I need a good harmonizer to get that Sfeve Vai crossroads lead tone now!!!
Ive always thought the pods suffered from sounding dull when you played by yourself in a bedroom, which is ironically what they were marketed for. In a mix, they always sounded really good. Even your shootout at the end, thd custom ir sounds better but not by leaps and miles. My favorite way to learn to record back in the day was with pod farm and i would dual amp and dual cabinet mix my guitars. Mixing the rectifier with the jcm 800 was my favorite tone.
I still have my pod hd pro x, I did exactly what you said, I disable cabs and use a mooer radar! I don't feel like I need to upgrade to helix with this setup considering that, yes the helix sounds better, just not 1000$ better.
In the mix with the custom IR the bean sounds shit-hot and the Go sounds a bit boxy, but I'm sure the definition is probably much better. All about the mix for sound quality. I'm just now selling an XT that I've had for a couple of years as I tried to get back into guitar (I've favoured bass for most of the past 2 decades) and this week I just got an HX Stomp. I can't explain how but it definitely sounds better in general. I'm not sure what it is about it - it could be a lot of placebo, but it definitely makes playing the instrument more fun, which is worth all of the money. Then again I also just changed my strings for the first time in a 2 months, so which is the biggest factor here?
Sick! Great content 👌 my buddy sent me this link, watched and had to subscribe 🤘. I started out with a 75 watt line 6 spider 🕷. Lets say I Had a love hate relationship with it .... loved all the options, but hated how the amp sounded like it's stuffed under 50 blankets 😑. I ended up selling it a year later for 300 bucks and bought a peavey valve king . Started my love for tube amps. Anyhow, it's been 15 years or so and I just got turned onto the pod go ! Doood! Insanely happy with it for a on the run rig. Has some glitches but I'm more than happy with it.
I still use the Pod HD Pro X through a Marshall head as a tube power amp and a 1960A cabinet. Never felt the need to upgrade. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I picked up a Pod Go back in September to replace my 10-year-old Floor Pod Plus. I had generally gone ampless over the past few years, using the Floor Pod live and in the studio, after getting tired of dragging a half stack or my Evil Twin around. If I want to run FOH and a speaker cab I run the Pod Go into my Evil Twin (as a powered cab). The Pod Go gives me all the horsepower I need for shows or recording, with more amp/cab choices than I would ever need, plus I can add IR's if I need more. The biggest complaint I've heard in reviews is a lack of routing options but I don't need to run complicated signal paths. Is the Pod Go a Boogie Triple Crown? Nope. Does it offer killer tones for 1/4 of the price of a Helix or Kemper? Yep. If you like spending tons of money and spending all day programming get one of those. If you want killer tone and simplicity, get a Pod Go. Thanks for the video and all the best from the Bay Area! MK
IRs always held back Line 6 modelers. A lot of people still don't seem to realize how much a half decent IR can improve your tone. I used to run my desktop Pod HD thru a Panama 2x12 and it sounded amazing. On the HX Stomp now and Line 6 really started listening
I have The Floor Pod Plus and it is good stuff if you RUN IT THROUGH YOUR EFX LOOP and keep the amp modeling effects off ! ..if know how to tweek the effects settings just right (compressor, noise gate, chorus, delay, reverb ext.) have a good ear and a good sounding amp you can really get it sounding HUGE!!!!
Fantastic video! I seriously think the X3 Live is the best when using a custom IR. All the other units, even the pod GO, sounded plastic and cardboardy in comparison. Think I'll get a cheap X3 to replace my Korg AX3000G instead of a hd500x.
i vote the pod 2.0 with custom iR. i was pod 2.0 user upgrade to xtLive and then X3 live each time i upgrade always regret it, the built quality get worse and it’s really buggy. esp the x3live. since then i never look at line 6 product. even when they release the hd. all this game play of ir i think there’s plenty better option with more affordable price. currently i’m using bias fx 2 iOS and i am quite happy with it for now. since you bring this video. i’m thinking about buying used pod 2.0 for nostalgia. lol. thanks for the amazing video.
I’ve owned the Pod X3 Live and last week got the Pod Go. I’ve also used a Flextone and Flextone 3, as well as the Podx2 and the Pod HD. I was much more of a tone snob back when I tried out the others. My first real venture into the Line6 was the Pod x3 live. It was pretty easy to navigate and for the most part made good classic rock tones. I also made acoustic presets that were nice to use. It had a microphone input and was a decent vocal processor. I enjoyed using the Dual amp simulation because it really filled out the sound. My only issue with it was this high frequency hiss I could hear. But once I was in n a mix I never noticed it. It also felt like if I were bending string the strings sounded like the wave formed were boxy somehow. I can’t really explain it other than it was boxy. If I played normal it was fine. My Pod Go I have only had a few hours of play time with it but I already love it better than any other digital processor I’ve owned. It sounds fantastic. My only complaint is it’s a little more complicated with the learning curve. I’ve had to to watch more videos on how to use this device than I care to admit.
Thanks for the comment! I agree, the XT/X3 series did sound boxy... sort of flat, and lots of high end hiss. I think you can tame it, but it was a bit bright.
@@robertreynolds9961 I had to look this one up! You win the prize my friend! That is exactly what it is. I think of it like a box around a note and it shifts as the pitch changes, say if I were to bend a string. Its unnatural. But in a live mix it never bothered me, even some horrible home recordings I've done the aliasing never bothered me. Only when I would play by myself with nothing behind it.
Great overview. I sometimes feel bad for Spider owners who are constantly being told that their amp is crap. If you're using it as a practice bedroom amp, who cares? But I've seen people gig with them, and well, they're terrible at high volumes. I did a video where I put a Floor Pod Go through an IR file in the HX Stomp (and nothing else) and it made the Floor Pod sound pretty good! So old Pod plus new IR = not bad, but you're better off getting the Pod Go IMHO.
Been seeing a lot of pod 2.0 for sale lately, and now I know why, lol. Sounds like there's a blanket over the speakers. The HD sounded the best to me. I've been using modelers for over 20 years from Zoom to Digitech to Vox to line 6. Thinking of getting a HeadRush next 😊
I traded my Peavey Bandit 112 for a POD GP back in 2003. Then got a PODXT, X3Live and a PODHD (which I sold cause of terrible DSP issues). Still use the X3 Live for just playing now and again, but for recording I'm using 90% free VSTs. Loved the Helix Native, but just can't justify the $500+ price tag. The POD GO is sure on my radar tho, since it's half the price of a Helix LT.
It's a really cool entry into the helix modeling if you dont need complex signal chains or the I/O

I have a pocket pod and it’s my guilty pleasure, for a small on the go practice device, it’s pretty impressive. The only sad thing is line 6 seems to be lagging in innovation, mooer and nux are giving them a run for they’re money.
HD Pro sounds absolutely killer here, but it is also a solid workhorse and been on a lot of big productions, actually think a lot of these now old gear is worth another chance since now even the hX stomp is almost 900 dollars new in scandinavia :-(
I've gone through all of them except the POD GO, the HD is the worst and the best was the X3 Pro from what l remember, then my eyes were opened by all the incredible free software like lepou and lecab, it's great how much guitar technology has progressed in 20 years, even if it was perfected by the Triaxis haha.
i use on stage a pod hd 500 i can use two amps same time and a lot option of pedals, a big problem is gabinets the options really sucks, ... i prefer uses without and direct on return sounds much better
Nice video, well done! Putting aside how it feels for the person playing, I think if you made a blind comparison of all of these units with a good IR in a mix, people's preference would come down to how well it was eq'd for the mix, and not the specific generation of POD. Even though there are definitely differences in quality been each gen, I think we crossed the point where most people can hear those differences in a mix yeeeears ago. Even in this vid, though I know the GO is superior, I preferred other ones in the mix because they were just eq'd better for it. Generational improvements now matter only to the person playing, IMUO (in my useless opinion!) ;)
Honestly, I don't have a favorite. I usually use my own, but that's out of convenience. I've actually been looking around for a really good mesa 4x12 IR that I can refer people to, so an IR vid is probably due once I figure that out!
Is that the Seacow Cabs origin story?? 😂 legit! I knew nothing about IRs until my friend showed me how much better his POD XT/rewirez IR was than my HD pro 😂
@@TaylorDanley yeah that's the reason I had that pod hd and hate them for the cab sound, sell them and bought a xt and also hate it too because the cab sounds like cardboard, reading some things I learn about the IRs on reverb and how they works for EQs and Cabinets, and had the same thing about people saying that pod xt, x3, hd sounds better with IRs or "if you play my xt with a Mooer radar vs your helix you can't notice which one is the helix" hahaha also the helix sounds a lot better with IRs, I don't know why the people refuse to use them or prefer spend hours and hours to make the stock cab sounds good
Ive owned many PODs over the years and also the VETTA, then i swore off modeling for a long time, i think i just got really sick of the sound. I was using them for pre production tones so some how trained my brain into thinking that they were bad. I can still instantly recognize some of those models haha. I finally came back around to modeling and am using a quad cortex now. I can say that modeling has came a long way, however i still prefer mic'ing up a real amp. As for playing live, i would way rather toss a modler in my bag and go direct. My back is over lugging around all that gear lol.
This is a great informative and cool video. (Grindage, LOL!) X3 and HD Pro are kool but I really do like the gigging capable layout of the Pod Go as it's really an all in one ready to (PodGo) unit. I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these. Coming from an old broken Boss GT6 (yes 6!) This will be my 1st Pod product. It seems to have everything I need (except the dual amp capability.) it should be quite an ear popping experience. IR comparison at the end was awesome!
I bought the POD 2.0 back when it came out and still have it. It was pretty cool, but never used it LIVE (mostly for practicing with headphones on). I have to agree with you that China has come a long way. I have the Hotone Ampero and it f#ckin' Rocks! BUT, the Ampero isn't built great, because I've already sent it in for a warranty repair (ie: Touchscreen when to sh!t). China needs to work on QA. I recorded through a Rackmount POD Pro in a studio once. That sounded pretty good in Post.
would you do a video showcasing the pod xt live in 2020 and do a review? That's what I've been using for almost 4 years, I would like to see a comparison of thepod go, and the pod xt live!
I’d say the Pod Go largely addresses your issues with the less than stellar Line 6 impulse responses and cab simulations, as like the Helix, one can upload third party IRs on the Pod Go.
What's crazy is that line 6 say the helix has been in the works since 08. The tech wasn't ready, and the axe fx dropped so L6 rushed the HD out instead. Then yamaha bought L6.. Also, the big bottom became the badonk in helix..
I had a POD HD that I sold because I got bored of having to use with my mooer radar since stock cabs were terrible and before the radar was released, I NEVER went direct with it, always a power amp and a cab. I owned the thing for 9 years and sold it to buy a mooer ge250.
I build pedals. When I got in to building pedals I seen a local band with a real life version of a preset I used. I realized how bad the pod was. I thought I could build my own effects and there's no way it could be much worse than the pod.

For whatever reason and to my personal taste the best IR sounds in this video are those of the X3. I'm probably buying one.
OK, years later to respond, but yeah, I still have an X3 Live and I still 'X3 Love' it.
It feels so good to see how far the technology has evolved. Great demo!❤️
🤘thanks!🙌
Aloud me to aplaude you, this is very interesting and entertaining content man. I guess you can fill in the void on the market.
Much appreciated!
Just have to know how to work it... also if you aren't going into a real cab, get a mooer radar or something and run it through the FX loop.
did anyone else get blown away at how good the pod HD Pro sounds? like it kinda sounds better than the helix at some models.
HD is darker, GO is brighter. Both need to be tweaked with EQ.
😪 the pod go will definitely cover the bases from the 2.0 and then some!
Repair it man! It's probably easy to fix it, if you can solder.
Thanks!! 🙌
I use pod xt + fcb1010 for live, Nice combination and no latency between patch changes!
First time I see a youtube review where the reviewer knows and really appreciates the awesome original Line 6 models!
Hi Taylor,
Great video is a video that a lot of people desired so much.
Thanks for sharing! I could probably make an entire video on just delay, since there are so many effects in each one 😂 But maybe one day I'll do it!
@@TaylorDanley maybe the most interesting are simple delay, chorus and tube screamer
Yeah, they definitely have improved. I'd still prefer 3rd party IRs that sound great rather than trying to polish a mediocre one though
Overall: POD HD RACK
MIDS: POD BEAN
Wow! Great demo!!! That was awesome to hear all those products. The Custom IR is the way to go for sure. Rock on!
🤘🤘
How was or is the POD 2 for some clean sounds or light break up going into my amps power amp section. Thanks for the video as well.
Man excellent video! Your riffs are brutal!!!
Line 6 pod through a 100 watt fender champ. Shockingly very decent sound
Excellent - thanks. So, basically .. find a way to output through an apprpriate IR .. and they can all walk the walk.:)
I have a Pod X3 Live floor unit.
This was an awesome demo and will be pairing some IR's with my POD HD 500 to see what it sounds like
Cool, good luck 🤘
Am I crazy, or does the stock IR in the POD HD sound better than the stock IR in the POD GO? The only Line 6 product I have is a DT25 combo, which is only because it was an incredible deal. It has the HD amp models built into it, and sounds decent for what it is.
You could probably spend some time with the IR in the POD GO to get a better sound, I didn't do much to it... but yeah, they aren't that great :(
Former POD XT Live church player here. Really loved it for what it did at the time, and I've got a POD Go on the way. Oh, and the history lesson was awesome, thanks!
@@sublyme2157 I am on that dilemma if is worth to replace the XT live for the POD Go to play at church, or maybe used them combined? What would you recommend in your experience?

I own an XT Live, HD500 and I actually prefer the tones on the XT Live a little more. When you were doing the demo at the end, I think some of the stock IR's sounded better than the custom ones....but it might be just my 57 yar old ears. Great video
This is the exact video i was looking for. Excellent 👍. Thank you
When I owned a Helix, I always went for the BE100, Mark IV, or Badonk. The Badonk didn't need a boost at all and just sounded great right away.
Any chance we can get a part 2 of the Budget Modeler shootout including the POD go and 3rd party IRs?
YES!

some Funeral for a Friend-ish Riffs there! 😊
Congrats on the 5k mark! Keep it up! 😊

🙌
That's the way to go with it!
FINALLY! I am considering changing the POD XT after 20 years...but not sure if the extra money is worth it. Thanks for the video.
🙌
so sick! im buying the pod x3 pro soon and i really loved that dual rectifier tone
I still use the Pod HD Pro X through a Marshall head as a tube power amp and a 1960A cabinet. Never felt the need to upgrade. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Time stamps! It's the little things that make videos so much more watchable!
MK
i remember when this channel started.....glad to see its growing.... nice vid chap
Thanks!
IRs always held back Line 6 modelers. A lot of people still don't seem to realize how much a half decent IR can improve your tone. I used to run my desktop Pod HD thru a Panama 2x12 and it sounded amazing. On the HX Stomp now and Line 6 really started listening
I have The Floor Pod Plus and it is good stuff if you RUN IT THROUGH YOUR EFX LOOP and keep the amp modeling effects off ! ..if know how to tweek the effects settings just right (compressor, noise gate, chorus, delay, reverb ext.) have a good ear and a good sounding amp you can really get it sounding HUGE!!!!
nice video, my favorite in the shoot out is the x3 and the 2.0 while mixed with drums and bass.
🙌
@@TaylorDanley My solution was to sell the X3 and get the Pod Go :P
BOOM! 🙌
Aliasing is what it's called
Thanx, I love it. I had just the POD HD PRO and 500... just fur fun I stil keep my amplifi 75 and I love it... :) but I have toured with POD HD pro straight to the mixer... but stereo paned amps.... that was cool. right side 20ml seconds delay...
Soubds huge that way
I have a pocket pod and it’s my guilty pleasure, for a small on the go practice device, it’s pretty impressive. The only sad thing is line 6 seems to be lagging in innovation, mooer and nux are giving them a run for they’re money.
Awesome demo! Love your riffs man

Still use my HD Pro every day, most of the time with 3rd party IRs though and it's brought it along modern sound quality nicely.

That's true, it's crazy what you can get done for FREE now.

still using my POD XT pro, sometimes with stock IR and some others with GGD Zilla Cab! or both!
I agree!
Great points here.
A vid on your favorite IRs would be cool
Honestly, I don't have a favorite. I usually use my own, but that's out of convenience. I've actually been looking around for a really good mesa 4x12 IR that I can refer people to, so an IR vid is probably due once I figure that out!
Think of the POD X3 as the "Game of The Year Edition" version of the POD XT. It has all Model Packs from the POD XT and has the signal path interface.

@@TaylorDanley yeah that's the reason I had that pod hd and hate them for the cab sound, sell them and bought a xt and also hate it too because the cab sounds like cardboard, reading some things I learn about the IRs on reverb and how they works for EQs and Cabinets, and had the same thing about people saying that pod xt, x3, hd sounds better with IRs or "if you play my xt with a Mooer radar vs your helix you can't notice which one is the helix" hahaha also the helix sounds a lot better with IRs, I don't know why the people refuse to use them or prefer spend hours and hours to make the stock cab sounds good
Was the Pod 2.o clipping? Sounded like you hat the output set too high. Great vid though. Great.
All of the problems I had with the original Pod are still present on the Helix. They still have that digital noise in the mids you can't dial out.

BUT, the Ampero isn't built great, because I've already sent it in for a warranty repair (ie: Touchscreen when to sh!t). China needs to work on QA. I recorded through a Rackmount POD Pro in a studio once. That sounded pretty good in Post.
Bummer on the ampero, I've never had issues, but have heard some people say the same with the screen

I dont have a pod xt anymore... but I do plan to do something here with the X3 (which is almost the same thing) and HD VERY SOON
I’d say the Pod Go largely addresses your issues with the less than stellar Line 6 impulse responses and cab simulations, as like the Helix, one can upload third party IRs on the Pod Go.
I feel so cool when I had PODxt Live. Even though I only perform live once a year 😅 ...
Hey, those things were SUPER cool!
Same. I was actually at Guitar Center in February looking for the old POD XT LIVE, saw a Helix Floor for $900 and snagged it. Never looked back.

What's crazy is that line 6 say the helix has been in the works since 08. The tech wasn't ready, and the axe fx dropped so L6 rushed the HD out instead. Then yamaha bought L6.. Also, the big bottom became the badonk in helix..
I figured, I mean big bottom... badonk... they have a funny sense of humor over there. Didn't know that about the helix/hd, crazy!
@@TaylorDanley yessir, they had big plans for helix from the get go. The tech just didn't match.
I believe in Yamaha improving Line 6.
I had a POD HD that I sold because I got bored of having to use with my mooer radar since stock cabs were terrible and before the radar was released, I NEVER went direct with it, always a power amp and a cab. I owned the thing for 9 years and sold it to buy a mooer ge250.
So now do you still like the mooer ge 250 do you recommend it, or you use something else?
Did you used the same settings on all amps for the comparison?
Really well done.
I build pedals. When I got in to building pedals I seen a local band with a real life version of a preset I used. I realized how bad the pod was. I thought I could build my own effects and there's no way it could be much worse than the pod.
