man I just ran into this rabbit hole and bought the joyo amp pedals but struggled to get some decent sound out from the headphone output, now I know what I'm missing, getting this cab box immediately! thanks for the review!
Now that I have used the Joyo live and @ home, this is truly my favorite pedal on my board! I also found that disabling the EQ from some presets, specially the Matchless ChiedTain IR, it literally brings the preset to life! Like if you took a blanket off the sound! So amazing! I am using the American Sound pedal as my Preamp Sound. It sounds amazing live at church thru PA and subs. Totally appreciate your video!
@@ibcmendoza8709 Sumple really. So I go directly into a Donner Ultimate Compressor then to the Donner Harmonic Squre Pitch Shifter then into the Joyo King of Kings, then to the Joyo American Pedal, then to Volume Pedal, then to Zoom G3 for all the delays and modulation effects, and reverb, then to the Joyo Cab Box. So in this way it's mimicking going straight into the Amp Cab Sim and out to the Front of House Mixer via XLR out on the Cab Box. As a side note, I sold some pedals and went to the FAS AX8. It just was a lot easier to program and use for live worship. Planning to sell my Cab Box on Reverb though.
I just bought a cab box today. I plan on using it with my American Sound and British Sound pedals in the FX loops of my HX Effects. The idea with the HX Effects is to use midi to change the speakers depending on the preamp I'm using. Very excited for it to arrive!
You have one of the most fun channels my friend. I have to try one of these one day as well. Man , my list grows. Heheheh. One day at a time. Hahaha. Strat sounds amazing through that unit too.
I’ve got the American sound and was going to buy the British sound but I will get this instead. With a couple of pedals on front of the American sound I’m sure I will be happy with what I can achieve.
You'll definitely get some amazing tones with that combination. It still boggles my small mind - all the options. Thanks for watching my video and commenting!
I don't think you would have to. It does however allow for a lot of tone-shaping flexible. I think the Cab Box is just really special with a nice modeling pedal like the JOYO American for instance. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Thanks for posting Tony. I bought one after watching your video - specifically to use with an American Sound. It works brilliantly and transforms the American Sound into something much closer to an actual amp. One odd issue I've come across; Connecting from the jack output to my PA sounds great, no background noise at all, connecting via the XLR out on the side there is some audible background hiss and noise - not so much that you'd notice at a gig, but still annoying. I'm not sure whether it's due to the power supply I'm using. Have you come across this?
Hello! I know this post is old, but I have a question. Just purchased the Cab Box I"m getting a crackling noise when the pedal is engaged. When it's by passed it's fine even without pedals in front of it! Any idea what would cause this and how do I make it go away?
Nice video. Can this Cab Box store your settings in memory? If yes, what happens when you remove the power supply to transport it. Is there a memory backup battery to retain the settings you made? Thanks. Phil NYC Area
Hey Phil - I don't know if there's an internal battery or such. I do know that I've had it unplugged for weeks at a time, and then I plug it back in and my custom settings are all still in there. Hope this helps.
@@tonyleeglenn Thanks for that info Tony. Very helpful and good news it retains settings when unplugged. Would you say overall you're very happy with it. Are there any negatives about using it in your opinion. Phil
OYO CAB BOX is a cabinet modeling pedal, with IR loading supported. It has 4 tube power amp simulations, 20 cabinet models and 11 classic microphone models. Regarding the IR, apart from 20 preset loading locations, it also supports storing 10 third party IRs, you can connect to the PC through the USB, and use the matching software to edit tones and update firmware, load or delete third party IRs. JOYO CAB BOX has more interface, much bigger screen with more buttons compared with rival’s similar products, it’s quite user-friendly. Controllers: Master, Select, Power Amp, Cab/Mic, EQ, SAVE, HOME, LED Toggle With no battery compartment Supports both Windows/Mac OS IR sampling info: IR file format: WAV Sampling accuracy: 24bit (supports 16/24/32 bits third party IR files) Sample rate: 44.1kHz Sample’s length:1024pts ◆ 128 tone store positions, supporting MIDI controlled devices changing tone real time. ◆ Different interfaces are suitable for various venues. ◆ DI balanced output: for connecting to the mixer, sound card recording during live performance. ◆ Headphones: Stereo headphones output for home practice. ◆ Thru: Can connect to amp’s FX LOOP or other cabinet simulation devices for stereo output.
@@tonyleeglenn oh wow this one is really loaded! So it does come pretty loaded with some IRs! Really gonna looking this one. I also have the American Sound pedal and love it! I'm currently driving it with a Sonicake Blue Screamer and a Silver Horse Klone from Mosky! Sounds Amazing! How about power, do you know how much current it needs?
I've only recently gotten into them Danny. For most of my musical past I've just been a guitar into amp guy (maybe a tube screamer occasionally on the front end). I've just used them in tonal exploration lately since there are so many cheap options available. Many thanks for watching and commenting.
In this video I am going direct into a mixing board. I was using a zoom live track 12. There was no amp used at all. That’s what’s pretty cool about this set up. Doesn’t even require an amp for recording or performing live into a board.
I used the cab box to capture the IR of my own Mesa 412 so I dont have to drag it around and I can just use my Joyo Preamp house, Joyo Chopper Z and this Cab Box into a smaller high wattage FRFR speaker and sound decent on the road.

It will significantly improve the sound of your Joyo amp pedals. You’ll love it!
That is a very cool IR device, Tony. Definitely sounds more full. I love how your strat sounds too!

could you share your pedalboards' chain?

this was very useful; i was looking for an example of this exact situation

Yes. I’ll make a video to show how I fix it. Coming soon.

Great video! What is thebmax IR length that the Cab Box can accept? Does it auto truncate? Thanks!

I've only experienced the crackling if I was using unshielded cables. Maybe try that. Fixed mine right up. Hope this helps.
Thanks! I'll give it a go! Great review by the way! Nice tones!

Are those really impulse responses or just Cab Simulations?

A confusion of pedals their Tony. That would blow my mind. LOL. I do not own a single pedal. But I might eventually.
