Aw man, this show, as awesome as it is opened me up to LOTS of new music, both of the time period and Ireland via situations like this and I'm much appreciative of it. But this one hit home. Apart from it being awesome, I was drinking a beer when it came on. Hell, It touched me so much I watched the encore that night just to sing along. Awesome show.
"Dad, Carrickfergus" - the best part of this Episode is that Nucky knows how politically important St. Paddy's is for the town and his empire but he clearly disdains it and sees it as going through the motions
@@lukemarsh3103 why sorry, you like that version better. I admit that paddy riellys version is also not bad but love johns version more. Different tastes, luckily for you if i may add. If we would have the same taste for women it would look very bad for you 😁😁 tnx and greetings
"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT DO I GIVE A SHIT." Man...I'm so glad I watched the season opener on a whim and got a chance to fall in love with this great show and the stellar music they put in each episode!
Said he same thing after walking away from her and my children before I put a hole in my head. She's gone now. I miss her hands in mine. I miss he so much.

man, so much subtlety in this show. Nucky sings along with the end of the song and Eli is just stonefaced and silent. It's a blink and you miss it shot, but it says a lot about the kind of characters the two brothers are.
@@markhawkins628 He's an actor and singer named John Treacy Egan and was kind enough to post a full acapella version a few months back on his UA-cam channel. Dunno if he just uploaded an old recording or did one during quarantine, but it's certainly one of the good things to come out of 2020. Enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/LhaEb7iH2Ck/v-deo.html
The point being made is that Nuckys old man is just total a pain in the neck no matter the occasion and literally stands on ceremony for nothing or no one should his mood dictate
I have been to Cerrickfergus and it is beautiful! Axtually, every day in Ireland was like magic.I',m jus' sayin'. I've been to Rome, too, eh....Ireland is better! 'Course I am Oirish, friggin' guinees 'down providence, eh.... (I Love the Italians! I am just kidding you!)
There is a great by the three irish tenor but this one is really goo. I once former IRA guy who was a prisoner with bobby sands he said this is saddest song ever I agree. I shed a tear for this song when it is done right.
In Sweden we've got a saying, "intresseklubben antecknar". It means, freely translated, "and why would I care?" It can be said when people do these really meaningful things as saying "I'm from New Foundland and love this song" or "I'm from near Carrickfergus". Why would I care? Well, I'm from Sweden and I too love this song, in case anyone's interested, though it doesn't seem very interesting to me. But of course, if it makes anyone happy to say where they're from they should feel free to do it.
Actually I am caught up, I'm just thinking about why someone would do that. Would you walk up to a person in a bookstore and casually mention the ending of the book they're browsing and thinking of buying. No, because this is classic shithead behaviour.

Erin goh Brah!
My stomach gets twisted in knots when I hear this. Jesus, how can anyone hate life?
Look up Néidín. A most beautiful tune from my part of Ireland.
what a tune ... everything else fits perfectly
Thank you for uploading this. You are a god.
Irish folk songs are so sad and depressing.

When the audience join in during the line " we'll im drunk today and I'm seldom sober.." is spellbinding
God Bless America! And god Bless the Emerald Isle!
I wish an entire song was made from this dude singing it

Wasn't this version of the song released by the Cheiftans like 40 years after the scene was set? lol

Sounds like other people's freedoms bother you way more than they should. Just learn to live and let live and you might become happier.
“WHAT?” 🤣🤣🤣
There was no Carrickfergus in the 20's. FAIL!
is there an mp3 available of this song (who is the singer)? can only find the other BE version :/
The singer is an American actor, his name is John Treacy Egan from New York - a damned great singer.

Why please, go right ahead and ruin seasons 1 & 2 for all the people who haven't seen it. You're so considerate.
whats is the name of this song
