Hi been having problems with fondant recently. Its easy to tear even though i knead it already. When i cover the cake especially when its color blue. The fondant cracks easily if not it tears down easily. Im not sure whats the problems. Coz its not hard coz i already knead it. I tried to put shortening, i also tried cornstarch and tylose but none of them solve my problem. Can you please help me
When I make a cake topper (example - elephant), with a mixture of fondant and gum paste, it looks great (smooth). But when it fully dries the topping looks dry and dull. How do I keep it looking nice?
Hi I just found ur page. Not sure if u answered this question b4 i don’t like when fondant gets hard on biscuits or cakes (toppings). Do u have a fix to it mainly after few days even if put in an airtight container 😔
Sure, the modelling paste is just the normal fondant plus CMC, Tylose powder or Gum Adragant in it, which helps to get the fondant to0 get more elastic and harder, that's why is perfect for decorations and cake toppers. The Gumpaste instead is even more elastic and it gets harder more quickly too, so it is perfect not only for making petals' flowers but also for things that need to be harder and are really thin too.
@@DeliciousSparklyCakes you said the modelling paste contain cmc but the difference btw gum paste and modelling paste you do not explain further, does gum paste contain cmc or not and what make it more elastic than modelling sugar, pls explain. Tks
Please can you help me This is my first time making fondant cake I make a cute topper But they get really hard after 15 minutes I don't cover is actually now I scared when I wrap my cake with fun and it will be really hard and it's gonna be hard to cut the cake it will be broken please give me an advice thank you
Hi Sanaa, normally the fondant gets a bit hard anyway, but it will be still is easy to cut it. However if it gets too hard maybe you have used the wrong type of fondant. Are you sure you have used the correct type of fondant? The one for covering cakes?
I tried to make a fondant figure and started with her legs. I set them aside and worked on a torso. I noticed that the legs I sculpted are now shriveled, dried out, rough, and it broke in 2 places. What am I doing wrong??
Hi Patti, fondant always tent to dry out and become harder plus it's really fragile. Saing that, it could be the type of fondant that you're using too... Are you using fondant for modelling? Try to change brand and see if it's better for you.
First of all if it tears probably your fondant is too soft. You might need to add a tiny bit of cmc. But if its already torn you can try this: ua-cam.com/video/f6KjXSndUWg/v-deo.html
That's a really hard one. There are things that can help but really there is not a straightforward answer. First of all, it depends on the weather (too humid or too hot?) The more humid or hot it is, the more the fondant and buttercream tent to melt. So you have to try to keep the cake at the right temperature. Try adding a bit of CMC on your fondant. This will help a little bit, but I can't guarantee that it won't' happen anymore. Also, it depends on the brand of the ingredients that you're using. Some are better than others.
Thank you for sharing your ideas I am already message you in bridge and groom videos and waiting for your reply Also seen this video you are using all ready made and for me it’s expensive so I make from scratch if you have any videos plz share and last how I shine my cake topper Waiting for your reply 😊

To keep your paste pure white, soften with white shortening, ie Flora white or Trex.

You can try to add more butter to keep it a bit solfter, however it will be harder to model. But just a little bit can make a big difference
Mine gets a wet Shiney look even after adding cmc powder & loose their shape what can be done ??
That's really strange. What fondant do you use and where do you live?
Can you explain more what is sugar modeling and for what exactly use, and what is the difference between it and gumpaste? Thank you.
