Nice cover man! Played well solidly! This song is an absolute bastard to get down rhythmically, but is such a satisfying song to play/enjoy overall! Great work.
love your song choices when it comes to meshuggah, u jam these tracks too when messing around with the bass, awesome tone n just how i picture it in my mind... so freakin bad ass! really hope you do pravus or obzen in the future
You are amazing! Truly an inspiration to learn Meshuggah songs, found your channel looking for more tips on Combustion. I still cannot dominate the picking technique, could you give some advice to learn the proper grip of the pick for that? Thanks!!
Thank you! Inspiration for playing Meshuggah is precisely what I set out to do :) I hold my pick between the first joints of my index finger and thumb while making a fist. I then pick pretty much into the string, I'd say at a 45° angle to the fretboard. I have a nice picking hand camera angle on my Rats Return video, slowing down the playback speed should give you an idea of how I pick :)
Hey Man! I've been visiting your channel often lately and I really like your content! Great work your doing! In the next few days I am gonna release a Playthrough and Tutorial on BID myself. Since Your Video helped me very much in learning the song melodically, I want to give a shout out to your channel. The reason I contact you this way (I couldn't find your email anywhere and I don't do social media except for YT) is, I'd like to pronounce your (channel) name the right way. 😃 Can you please tell me, maybe in phonetics, how I can do it right? Thanx Man!
Hahah, thank you for your consideration! I'm not too particular on how my name is pronounced, but I think it the original in phonetics would be [pɑːjʌnɛnæ].
Good job. This song is so bad ass. I'll check after this comment, but if you haven't done stifled, that's my vote on request. Edit: you did it already, disregard my request.
Hey there! Great Cover man!! Born in Dissonace is such a killer song!! Question: I have the same Bass and was wondering: The tuning for this song is Drop A#, means that the B String is one halftone down and the other four strings are a halftone UP? Am I right? Cause when I tried to get my bass into that tuning it felt like the strings were too thin. Are you using the standard strings on your bass or are they others?
Thank you! You're entirely correct on the tuning there. I'm using DR Lo-Rider 45-105 plus a 130 for the fifth string here, but your mileage may vary :) I think the bass ships from the factory with a .125 B-string.
@@danielpatrickswain9521 Thank you! For anything lower than B-standard I definitely recommend the .130 :) Though I've gotten some great results with thinner strings too
Please tell me what tunning they play in. I know they use a couple different ones but what is the main tuning that they normally use. I've gotten so many different answers and so far I can't get the sound right.
The correct answer is mainly F standard, on bass this is a half step UP from standard. Some songs (like this one) also utilize a fifth string that's in A#. Some of the older stuff is in drop-A or B-standard. The newest album is played in F standard, but an octave lower.
D# standard on Contradictions Collapse and before that (they were on 6 strings), A# standard on a 5 string from None all the way up to Chaosphere (7 string material), for Nothing they shifted tunings around a lot, E standard on a 4 for Stengah, F standard for Rational Gaze and all of the songs in F, drop D for Obsidian (if there even was bass in that haha, I don't recall), drop D# for Nebulous and the other songs in that tuning, I'm imagining either A# standard or A#A#D#G# for Spasm (since the guitars were essentially in A# standard with a low A#0), Catch Thirtythree I believe was all F standard if I recall correctly, ObZen was F standard with some songs in A#FA#D#, Bleed in A#D#G#C#, and the title track in AFA#D# (for the low A power chord part), Koloss was all F standard I believe minus on Marrow which I believe had two tracks, one in F and one in E, there was also probably some A#FA#D# tracks in there too, The Violent Sleep Of Reason was F standard and A#FA#D# I believe, Immutable is where things get interesting... the tunings were all over the place, Dick used a 40" scale Kalium Quake bass with 200+ gauge strings, I know he was in F an octave down for some songs but he mightve went lower, maybe even down to D#0 or D0, not fully sure, some songs were in F standard on a standard 4 string, I believe some were A#FA#D#, The Abysmal Eye mightve been played in F an octave down on the bass part but the guitar part was either in G# standard or drop G# on a 7, hope this helps!!!!!
Kerrankin saa suomeksi kysyä, kun löytyy oman heimon bassotykittäjä! Keep up the good work, suomalaista edustustoa tarvitaan lisää! Miten sä purat ton Meshuggahin polyrytmi helvetin johonkin ymmärrettäväksi? Ootko treenannut korvalla vai ootko oikeesti opetellut laskeen noita?
Torille!
You definitely look like someone who would play in Meshuggah. Great playing, my dude.
Haha, thank you! 🥰
The bass tone is so heavy and metallic, amazing cover! Sounds like a suspension bridge cable being picked.
I'd love to do that some day. 10k subscriber special it is!
lol 😂
Oh, Tomas Haake playing yet bass! Unexpected) XD
Do I really look that old? Hah 😂

Happiest metal player in recorded history right here. Love your playing (and recent PT covers!)
A rare find - a Finn that smiles 🥰 Thank you!

I always try to understand the patterns in their riffs but man... it can take a while until I figure them out hehe. NICE COVER!!
Haha yeah, it can take a while! Tabbing them out usually helps a lot :) Thank you!
Break each riff down into sections
that sound is so heavy, my ears are bleeding..,from happiness

Active, but with everything set flat I think! I didn't even realise you could go passive until selling this bass... xD
