We'll be playing Pokemon Silver in this one, trying to get all of the Kanto gym badges and defeat Red!

I’ll never quite get over the fact that they decimated an entire tower of irreplaceable Pokémon graves and built a radio tower in its place.
They moved the graves to a new building.
@@TheTakato122 and ghosts too? I am pretty sure that not all ghosts were so friendly just like "Oh, we're moving to the new building? Wow, I'm actually dyng to see it!"
@@TheTakato122 even if true, still fucked up lol
It’s just like burial grounds
I'm going to be honest with you I'm kind of wondering why the scientist who could revive fossils didn't just visit the Pokemon Tower. Unless Reviving fossils is actually cloning and not bringing them back to life.
Fun fact: you can meet back up with the Rocket Grunt who stole the Power Plant part in generation 5. He lives in Unova and has a family by that point in time!
Really? Thats super cool
Is it the one in Icirrus City,? You can only meet him in winter
@@jak3358 Correct! That makes his inclusion a pretty well hidden easter egg if you ask me.
@@DivisibleByWaffle This is the only way to catch Darmanitan with Zen Mode before the post game.

Ah yes, Earth types. They're weak against the elusive Bird types lol

Here's a funny story.
When I was a wee tot, around 8-10 years old, I had a 200+ hour save game in my Gold Version. Thing is, my Gold version is the Vietnamese hack version with a broken english translation where it progressively halts to become understandable and all that was left were symbols and gibberish past Goldenrod City. So as a young'un with determination, I managed to complete the game and now I was on my way to Kanto Postgame (Mind you, the game was still barely understandable), and went on the ship going to Kanto. Now, it takes time for the ship to get to Kanto (requiring you to rest in a bed to progress), but since the translation hack was incomprehensible, I did not know thst you had to rest in a bed (since the sailor is just speaking heiroglypics) so I basically beat the whole ship, but I still cannot fathom how to progress! Mindlessly tapping A on windows, searching trash cans repeatedly, breaking the A button for spam talking to that sailor blocking the door.
Tired of just roaming into the ship, I just put down the game, and then around 8 months later, a good buddy of mine wanted to trade Pokemon with his legit Silver Version, I went like, 'sorry, I got a fake Pokèmon version.' He was like 'oh, thats cool, can I check it out?' I let him play, and just 10 mins in, I saw that he is now just roaming about Vermilion City! I kicked myself so hard for not having learned about sleeping in beds and not just tapping A at windows and repeatedly talking to that sailor blocking the damned door.
I remember this distinctly because I once lived in the Middle East and original things were expensive, and so I just had to bear with the fake versions just to experience Pokèmon, and though fake, had me pour hours and hours of fun in an age where the internet is still a seedling to bloom, and phones weren't even smart yet. The catridge is long gone, unfortunately. I miss my odd team of a Machoke, a Dodrio, a Scyther, an Ariados (another bug type, for some reason), a Lugia, and my Feraligator. Good times indeed. This game may be old, but definitely lives up to age like fine wine to me.
Thanks for this video, man. +Sub for the nostalgia, and for finishing the game in accordance to Nintendo. :D
What an awesome story!
Dude i was stuck on the ship for months because i didnt understand english and didnt know you had to rest in the bed
That's honestly amazing, rip your squad man. I know your comment is old, but I'm genuinely curious what it was like to play the game, I've seen the "translation" around the Internet for years, but ofc never played it. What kind of "jibberish" was there when it broke past goldenrod? Was it broken English or did it just completely nosedive into an unreadable mess? Did it ever crash?
Fun fact: the first time I beat Gold, I just mashed A through all the dialogue. This includes the Prof. Elm call telling you where to get the SS ticket. So I had no idea how to access the rest of Kanto for months before I could finally get on a computer and look it up. But on the bright side I used that time to get my Dragonite to lvl 100 so red was a breeze.

I love how in the johto games, people consider the game's final boss as red rather then lance. Really goes to show how much dominance he exerts
Well compared to lance, he’s the Pokemon champion of the world. He’s considered the legendary, almost mythic , trainer.
“I hammer away at charizard”
He thought we wouldn’t notice, but we did. - Tony Stark
Skin crawl- something disturbing that makes you shiver, basically.
i also thought the crawl was funny cause when someone crawls, its like slow movement. And magcargo is a snail...
@@eddiemunes92 very true, the guide editor has puns. 😄
If Magcargo is as hot as the Pokedex claims, it might make your skin crawl down your body.
The pride I feel in my friend for finally blowing up after having the tenacity to keep making videos for YEARS and never giving up is unmatched. You are a specimen unlike any other and far superior to myself, I gave up so long ago on my personal channel, and could never have managed the work you have put in for literally free until now.
Congratulations, my brother. May this series take you far and your success take you beyond your wildest dreams.
❤️
I remember Emerald’s Prima guide also being excellent if you want to try that instead to not repeat games. A friend of mine owned it when I was a kid and it was so pretty to look at that I remember buying him lunch just to let me borrow it even though I’d already beaten the game. It even has sections for each brain in the Battle Frontier.
Sound interesting.
Ohhhh beat the frontier as Nintendo intended. Sounds painful.
Looking back at LGPE. The Cycling road isnt Cycling road anymore.
Its just......
*Road*
Gotta go to Road.
road
I think that the magcargo thing was to scare you, or they just forgot about magcargo and were too lazy to check
I'm pretty sure it was to.give creepy vibes and an air of mystery. Sounds like the person really didn't like Magcargo.
@@ArtisChronicles yeah, or they just didnt know how to spell magcargo
No this guide was written before games came out so they didn't knew about macargo
@@Kambyday but... the testers played the game so they battled Blaine and since magcargo is the new mon of his team they decided to make it seem very strong
Or they just forgot how to type magcargo
It says make your skin crawl
Its a snail
Snails are slow
They slow to a crawl when moving
Fun fact: There's another GS guide out there that says you should have pokemon that are at least level 41 to take on red. 8 year old me was not prepared.
10:10 The *3 question marks* could be meant as a surprise, since Magcargo is a Pokemon the player likely hasn't seen before Blaine's gym. The guide I had as a kid loved to hype up certain Johto Pokemon as "mysterious." I still have the Versus Books Gold & Silver Adventure Guide where most rare, swarming and post-game Johto Pokemon (Dunsparce, Skarmory, Slugma, Misdreavus, etc.) have a circle and question mark instead of name and picture. For whatever reason, Magcargo is listed as one of Blaine's Pokemon, so maybe the "mystery factor" in my guide was just for wild encounters. Who knows, maybe they actually did forget what Blaine's lead was? LOL! *I'm loving the Nintended series so far; keep hammering away and laying down the law!*
Still trying to figure out WHAT Volcano erupted on Cinnabar Island.
Undersea volcano maybe? Or if you count the anime as canon, the Cinnabar gym was built in a volcano.
There was Suposed to have a Volcano there (as shown in the Anime and in the Manga) but due to Game Boy Limitations they didnt put it.
I was Surprised when they didnt actualy put the Volcano in Lets Go
@@kirbyfazendoummoonwalk9214 They added a Volcano in FRLG and put it... in the sevii Islands. I really don't think there's any gameboy limitations involved, though, because they easily could have just used the mountain terrain to form a wall at the edge of the town to at least convey the idea of a mountain.
There is a volcano in other media, but considering GSC is a direct sequel to RGB, the Canon of the games is all that's really relevant here. Nothing even mentions a volcano in RGB.
That said, the fact that there's so many fire types with no particularly natural home in RGB might imply that there was at one point supposed to be a volcano there.
Cinnabar island is the volcano. It’s in the cartoon.
@@aurafox1 in the Lets Go Map Description they Clearly say there is a Volcano in Cinnabar, so Gamefreak is just to lazy to actualy put a Volcano there or its a Underwater Volcano

A new player after reading about Blaine's ??? Pokémon : Oh my god, I think he is about to use a legendary, if he'll be that tough, there's no way I am gonna defeat Blue, I am scared!
After seeing it's a Magcargo which get one shot by a single Earthquake : Rest In Peace guide book, now I am gonna hammer away you...
Truly lay down the law for such a mistake
I think they did it as some sort of surprise but if you are using a guide you gave up on surprise and probably want the damn info
I think its intended as a surprise as well, a harmless one. The writers knew that by this point in your game, you will definitely not have a problem with defeating it especially if you feel confident you can take on the other two who are shown, so why not leave it a little surprise with punny clue; being a brand new pokemon. It's fun, I like it.
Considering Sea Form Island is where Articuno resides, they probably making it more mysterious for previous Gen1 players

Can you do this with EarthBound? The official Player’s Guide is available online for free, courtesy of Nintendo themselves.
You just need to smashhhh!!!!!!! Everything that's move in Mother 2
and now for something everyone knows already: gutsy bat
Did they really put it online? Or it was someone else?
@@jesalt8230 Nintendo did when EarthBound was released for the VC on the Wii U
I love that it was some random npc with the Rainbow /Silver Wing, makes it like a secret that you have to find/run into instead of scripted event.
I never noticed that it was just frustrating at first luckily I had friends and an older brother who guided me through
Kanto was definitely minimized in gold/silver but it was an ambitious undertaking at the time on a portable game without much storage. It blew me away as a kid and made the pokemon world feel more alive seeing how kanto evolved after I played pokemon blue and yellow. It was also cool to finally see the ss anne could go somewhere.
I like the fact that some random npc has a key item. Just kind of reflects how some unassuming people can have the wildest and unbelievable stories.
you know for the longest time i thought slugma and magcargo were gen 3 pokemon.......
I wouldn’t blame you
Both are only found on cycling road in Kanto, despite being Johore poke
I hated that fact with some johto Pokémon only found in Kanto
@@aceclover758 yea that's weird just like the Kanto Pokémon how they were in johto kinda weird
@@Jac735 IMO
Houndour and Murkrow, if they wanted to save for late game, shouldve either been at the Lake of Rage routes or south of Blackthorn City
Slugma shouldve been a Burn Tower
Misdreavus shoudve been moved to Ice Path at nights like Cystal did with Sneasal (they removed it from Mt.Silver but made it avalaible on Ice Path)
Good video, I enjoy experiencing the game vicariously through you and get nostalgic. When I was around 12 I saved up and bought a lime green Gameboy Color and Pokemon Silver. I still have them both in great condition, unfortunately had to replace the battery in the game cartridge so the original save is gone but now its good to go for years. I was obsessed as a kid, and eventually bought this guide as well and it made my experience so much better and immersive. I also had a pocket pikachu color, worm light, link cable and gameshark. This game has incredible replay value and depth. After playing Pokemon Red like an addict, I was blown away as a kid when I realized all the different things that happen exclusively at certain times or days of the week in this game. The link cable underground battle club, bug catching competitions, clefairy dance, radio lottery, a certain person at the mart on only sundays, mystery gift, etc. It had me hooked, under the blankets at night with the wormlight often, trying to see every little easter egg available. Without a guide on first play through as a kid, you miss a ton of things.
I love the running gag of “hammering away” in this series
Ngl you are doing a great job not only with the videos but also the thumbnails. Very well designed and eye catching. Watched the first part of this like 3 times because when I see such a cool thumbnail I can't help but want to rewatch! Keep up the great work!
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS! I WAS SO UPSET YOU LEFT US HANGING! Thank you!
there's so much to explore and do in this generation! combined with being able to play as a female trainer for the first time in Crystal, there are so many happy memories you helped me remember. thank you ❤
This was a real good 🎮and there was alot of things to do but if you beat most of the trainers it gets kinda boring
You could always do the Legend of Zelda games as Nintended.

Another amazing video, don't even need to watch it to know.
I've never been a fan of the stories of Pokémon. Even as a kid but my God, just steamrolling through the old places I loved was the best experience I've ever had playing Pokémon.
That was the most amazing thing to literally have a whole other game to beat after the main game . I remember hoping that we would
go back to kanto when I beat this game and it totally happened. I was so happy.
I really wish giovanni had some kind of influence in this, like maybe he became the owner of a museum or the president of police idk
"President of police"
Technically he did, just not directly. You might have been too busy wiping the floor with their faces to notice, but both his former lackeys and his son battled you multiple times in the game.

I love these videos. Keep up the great work!
The dancing Clefairy also leave a Moon Stone behind.
i just started watching this video series today and huh ! what do you know, a new video ! a very welcome surprise, these are very fun videos :-)
I had this Prima guide as well as its updated version that fixed about 50% of the errors but still had errors. I always thought that this initial version of the guide seemed like it was trying to keep some things secret so that you’d discover them on their own. I thought it was silly when it called Wobbuffet horrifying and mysterious in the Dark Cave section (not mentioning it by name) - that’s one of the other cases akin to the Magcargo one you call out the guide on.
I think this was the guide that I wrote in when I was 13 or so and had a lot of sass. I distinctly remember writing something like "It's just wobbuffet..."
Love the series! Would love to see you doing a big ol' game like Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy. I remember using the FFIX guide tears ago and getting baffled when i couldnt learn a certain spell in Dali that the guide assured me i could!
Hey love your videos keep up the good work and have fun doing it Pokémon is one of my favourite franchises 👍
Im a new sub and already loving all your vids!!
Tbh I always found the Kanto portion to be rather anticlimactic when I was a kid.
Same but when we grew up and realized memory limitations it became obvious.
Same, I was in my mid teens when I played the first time. When I got older and more into computers I was impressed they fit this much into a 2mb cart.
The other negative I hear a lot is the levels of trainers. I was the kid who took "gotta cath em all" seriously so I liked the lower levels in the game. I could use newer caught pokemon in trainer battles to evolve them faster.
Heart gold and silver made it a little better
Heartgold was my first Pokémon game, so for me it was awesome!!!
@GHZ J2391 I agree the level scaling and overall progression towards the end game in gen 2 isn't good. Mostly a problem for people solo running or not leveling other pokemon as they go. Especially the Kanto gyms.
I think that kind of exp share you mentioned is boring though. I haven't played anything past gen 5. Gen 1 had similar exp share mechanics, though so I can commenton that. It was a key item that split half the exp between party pokemon with the other half going to the battle participants. I look at it like this, what is the point of having a hundred (or in the case of newer gens multiple hundreds of) individual pokemon if you never at least try to use them.
Granted not everyone will play a game for the same reasons, and everyone is going to have their preferred playstyles.
I get home after a long day at work and what’s the first video UA-cam suggests? Papasea’s new video. Time for some much needed enjoyment ❤️
Decent video! Thanks for uploading!
Always love this kinda videos
Definitely more Pokémon games! I collect the Pokémon guide books so it’s interesting to see someone follow them so closely to beat these games
I was just playing pokemon crystal and am at this very point in the game. you forget how good it is sometimes. amazing video!

This is such a fun series!
The post-game of Gold and Silver is fantastic!

Awesome video as always.
You uploaded this while I was playing Pokémon Silver
Here's a fun fact: Erika was originally going to be a ghost type gym leader in lavender town. In Red, Green, and Blue she's wearing something (I forget what exactly) that is worn in Japanese culture but the way she's wearing it is the way someone wears it if they're dead, in Yellow they changed it to be worn the normal way. Also Agatha was originally not going to have any ghost types on her team too. Also Giovanni was organized going to be a Flying-Type gym leader...oh I'm rambling again
When I was younger, I wish I had not been so afraid to erase my game and start over but trading Pokémon to another game and also starting over with Pokémon caught in postgame traded back to the game, faster EXP too!
they totes forgot about magcargo or something and then played it up as something scary to hide the fact that they forgot
The most anticipated sequal of 2021.
Nice! you hammererd away most of the game
The pallet in this game is so pleasant
haha funnieieie
What about the town
I remember I got stuck at this part so I never finished it and I lost the savefile. So thanks for showing me what happens afterwards :D
In hindsight it would have been pretty cool if every game let you go back to kanto as a post game to see how it progresses over the years or from another perspective.
Like did blaine ever build a new gym or was cinnabar abandoned?
Did remnants of rocket dully go away?
Did the saffron fighting gym ever get certified?
Did Misty ever get to go on her date?
I wish to know these things.
Imagine if Blaine moved to fighting dojo because Cinnabar got demolished and karate kings were like "aw come on, we're kicked out again?" So they build another gym next to other two just to spite Blaine and Sabrina lmaoooo

It would be interesting to have a evaluation of a few of the most significant or major guides for a certain Pokémon game, comparing a few criteria, such as for example wich has the best strategy, best written with fun lore and trivia and wich is easiest to understand, or something similar.
I cant believe the gameboy color could actually fit 2 regions

I had Gold and Crystal. They were a blast and I stopped playing pokemon after that cause I didn't get a GBA until much later on. In 2009 I did spend the whopping $60 for a micro and Firered. Love watching your videos to clue me in was there anything I missed. But yeah, the post games were awesome. In Firered, the Sevi islands were mind blowing to me after I beat Blaine. I couldn't sleep that night after beating Blaine, I had to play through until I fixed that machine on Sevi island 1. What a blast.

I love this series
i would love one of these videos for spin-off games like pokemon rangers shadows above almia because back when i got this game as a kid many many christmases ago i got it with a guide book and it was actually really good
10:03 I'd like to think that's because he is "The Hotheaded Quiz Master"
Yes, finally, simply iconic
This is based on ~20 year old memories of this very guide, but I was always pretty sure that there were a number of pokemon that they were either not allowed or not willing to spoil for the guide, hence the ??? in Blaine's team and stuff like the missing baby pokemon pictures (it wasn't that they lost the pictures or didn't know where to find them). I seem to remember it also being fairly coy about the identity of the Tyrogue you get from Karate Master Kiyo (despite [mis]naming Tyrogue in the section about baby pokemon); they were allowed to publish full details of Hitmontop but only a little bit about Tyrogue. Again, this all made perfect sense to me at the time and while it does seem weird and arbitrary in retrospect, it feels like the kind of information management that sometimes happens around newly released games.
I never actually played the original Gold and Silver. Just crystal and it ended up being one of my favorite games
Crystal was good I just liked silver spirits a little bit better
Yay another video
I'm just now watching through this series, unlocking some long lost memories. When I played Gold I didn't speak any English, but I managed to beat it because I remember getting to post-game - and then becoming confused because I didn't know how to get back, and then once I managed I couldn't return because I had no clue what to do except for trying allll the things. So because I couldn't find the boat again, I thought I had made it up and there never was a post game to start with. Maybe I should give it another go 🤔😂
UA-cam nintended for me to see this video and enjoy it as i always do great vid PaPa
Having just binge watched all of these Pokemon as Nintended videos I would personally like to see another Pokemon video. But I do not think that I would be adverse to seeing something else. Especially if it's an older game
I didn't know there were different guides from different people, though now that I think about it I'm not surprised. Hopefully you can make some kind of video out of those other guides? I would love to hear from you which is the "best" guide. Maybe look at fanmade guides on the internet as well??
Best series ever
Do Pokemon Colosseum I remember having that guide as a kid and it would be cool I think it was a prima guide
Over 160 pages? Dang, I forgot just how meaty strategy guides used to be back then.
The last few strategy guides I ever saw in stores were around when the Switch came out, and they were all tiny little dinky things for $9.99 or $14.99 US.
I still have some of these old guides, in particular, one for Gold and Silver that, I don't remember the publisher, but I remember the guide being really snarky and sarcastic about most of the Pokémon, but it was also the first guide to have an actual Pokedex inside
I don't really have a game suggestion for you unless you want to stick with Pokemon then maybe Emerald (if you haven't already done it still semi-new subscriber so haven't back-tracked through your playlists to check) anyway wonderful video and Amazing Work all round 🙂
Appreciate the "hammer away" call back!

Recommendation for future games: anything that allows for tons of customization in approach so the guide used will carry more weight. Zelda might be fun as an aside, but RPGs will probably be the best choice of games to use since your style will be dictated by the recommendations the guide makes.
Paper Mario or Final Fantasy perhaps?
I hammered away at that like button.
I don't think I've ever had a guide book for any game new or old that didn't have insane errors. I do miss them though! 😭
