My theory is that the person responsible for this book translated The Gamer's guide to another language via Google Translate and made some minor additions here or there (namely the "eh?" jokes) to sell it in that language. Then they decided to sell it in English as well, but since they couldn't remember which site they stole it from, they decided to just translate it back to English via Google Translate.
I don't think they forgot, only that if they had released the Gamer website walkthrough as is, it would have pinged as plagiarism.
I think my extra work that was done outside of the outright plagiarism, was by an Irish person based on “eejit” and the use of “mam”. I’m Irish and it just feels like bits of it were added by an Irish person.
The similarity to TheGamer's original definitely isn't that of a machine translation. Instead, it seems obvious they used a program that replaces words with random synonyms.
@@randomstranger9306 Possibly, but as PapaSea mentioned in the video, this also happens sometimes when you put a text through Google Translate to translate it into another language and then run it again to translate it back into its original language.

When the guide said, "[...] further than a 15-year-old MCR fan." ...I felt that in my soul. I have no idea what that means but I sure did feel it.
So i saw something recently, this is actually a huge problem overseas and within the minecraft lets play community. Theres overseas companies that take people lets play content from youtube (example youtubers Wattles and Grian from hermitcraft), and rip the script, translate it a few times and take acreenshots and then make shitty little paperback books, that they sell on amazon and market to kids. It happens alot with anything considered to be a "guide"

This is a lot like reading manga off of a translation group who might be using google translate vs an official company with well versed translators.
The official guides were getting too normal and competent as the generations went on, now this is some good bad guide content.
the use of mam makes me think this was written by someone from the north of england, but at the same time it doesn't feel like this was written by a native english speaker. what a wild guide. the fact it uses screenshots from the anime in places is hilarious too

It's too bad that Pokemon/Prima left such a big hole in the market by not releasing a BDSP guide themselves. I've been collecting the guides ever since the original DP guide and it really feels like the end of the collection now. Trash bootleg books ripping off someone else's hard work would have a harder time finding sales if there actually was a proper guide this time around.
I can understand why pokemon or prima games stopped making these strategy guides as physical books because you can easily find information about pokemon games online for free even huh? 😂 seems like an end of era indeed
Of all the guides made for this game, this is definitely one of them.
This guide feels like talking to someone who doesn't quite understand that a "pikachu" and a "pokemon" refer to different things.

Lmao, I actually like the thought of referring to gyms as Rec Centers!! There’s a popular Rec Center in my hometown that I grew up going to a lot, and a part of me as a kid always imagined that’s what a gym could potentially be/feel like. It oddly fits really well in-universe too! 😂
this guide sounds like they put it through a program that scouts for repetitive word choices and casual language and replaces them with synonyms, which is why it sometimes gets words right and sometimes doesn't
