I feel like it can be so difficult to determine if you really have an essence or if you just have such an admiration for an essence that you make yourself think you have it
I do the same! But then I just become more realistic about it and I think self love and acceptance is excruciatingly important, especially in this aspect. Sending you an abundant amount of love and luck 🤗
Thank you for including models in wheelchairs. It means a lot to casually exist in a video that doesn't have disability as its main topic, just being there too alongside everyone else.
You deserve a standing ovation for this entire series. The detail to attention with everything from information to inclusivity.... fantastic. Thank you!!!! ❤
The fact that you opened with the one cinematic scene in film that left the biggest impression on me since childhood leaves me with no doubt this is my essence. Your understanding of the kibbe/kitchener systems and style in general is mind boggling. It feels like this video was made for me. Wow 💯 percent worth the wait. Thank you 🙏
AHH, yay! I was worried people wouldn't know the TRUE catwoman, and it's so epic and epitomizes the dramatic essence. Glad you liked it and it was worth the rather long wait!
@Trinity M Sorry, but that’s just a complete misunderstanding of my comment. I “like” lots of movies and Batman Returns isn’t even one of my favorites. Michelle Pfeiffer (also a dramatic essence) as CatWoman was a woman who “liked” pink, and “liked” stuffed animals, and “liked” things and items in her life that brought her joy- but an incident in character growth and development brought forth her true essence, hence, Catwoman. That’s why Gabrielle used the character. That scene was and still to this day is an awakening of something I see inside myself as a reflection of what I now understand as my energy, appearance, and presence. If I had just “liked” the movie since I was a kid I wouldn’t have left that comment. But I understand your confusion. Hope you understand what I mean now.
This opening? MA'AM!!! Congrats on wrapping up your essence series. Of all the typing/style system content on the web, this has been the MOST helpful in guiding me toward my personal style. I love that you've focused on making these systems pragmatic, useful, and modern for DIYers and that you focus on your audience rather than pledging allegiance to any particular theory. To sum it all up, you're doing the Fashion God's work. Thank you so much!!!
I would SO be down to see your take on essences for Men. And blending their essence and Kibbe ID for their clothing. Wanting to help style the men in my life 😁😂
@@Gabriellearrudadesign do you think Jack Black has gamine essence? My son looks so much like a young jb. I think they are both quirky, funny and cute.
I don't have any dramatic essence myself, but of course I want to learn to recognize all of the essences. The way you teach is super entertaining and especially nice for visual learners.
This is the essence I always thought I must have as a tall person, but don't. I love rock n roll and tried to emulate the fashion. I looked like a kid in a costume. Now that I know I'm primarily ingenue/natural I feel like I'm learning more harmonizing ways to look edgy instead of forcing the black cat eyeliner and structured leather jackets. Thanks for helping me understand myself better
Meanwhile, I always felt like a 6’0” person trapped in a tiny body. After crowdsourcing feedback, pretty sure I’m a dramatic/romantic blend which I think explains why I feel most comfortable in outfits with a super soft element (like a lace bodysuit or pirate-inspired ruffled shirt) paired with something really crisp and strong (like a leather or military jacket or studded leather high-heeled boots). I’ve spent most of my life wearing clothing designed for classics or naturals because it seemed most appropriate for a corporate job. Now that I work from home, I’m having way more fun experimenting with my look.
The mix of being tall and having an ingenue essence (based on small forms, roundness and lack of verticality) seems so interesting to me! I would love having one or two good examples about how to rock that situation. Maybe with natural/ethereal lines (a mix of round/curve and elongation)?
Ok you convinced me. I have dramatic essence. I struggle when I hear the description because I don’t see myself that way. I have 2 young kids and I wear scrubs to work everyday. Unlikely you will see be in any runway looks any time in the near further. However, I’ve been told by MANY people I have a serious RBF and they were intimidated by me when we first met. Not sure if this is related but I can’t tell you how many times I was told to “smile” by random guys at the bar when I was in college🤪 AND I’ve always thought I looked like a cat🤷🏻♀️
Random guys at any bars need to stop telling people to smile, yikes! But I'm glad you can see your dramatic beauty! And totally get it- runway clothes aren't workable on most peoples daily style ( including mine).
If my son only learns one life lesson from me….I hope he remembers I told him that is the worst pick up line ever! Jk….I’m teaching him other things as well🤪
I can't believe you are only 5ft6, you really do come across as taller. That's some vertical line witchcraft lol! My boyfriend's mum is the same, only 5ft6 but everyone thinks she is much taller, it really shows the vertical line is magic in understanding what you can pull off easily.
I am SD and have mostly dramatic some ingenue and minimal romantic essence. That explains why I was so lost in other youtubers advice who mostly emphasise the bold romance of soft dramatics. You've helped me so much. Thank you ❤️.
I love your emphasize on fabric in your videos. It's so helpful for me to understand the silhouettes. You are bringing so major Devil Wears Prada vibes in that outfit and I love it!!
If it’s possible to have zero amounts of essence, then that’s me and Dramatic. I thought that before, and your video confirmed it, but I loved it regardless (of course). Excellent work x
I never thought I have a dramatic essence, but this video changed my mind. Sharp eyebrows and a bold lip suits me best. I think my 3 essence are: Romantic, Ingenue and Dramatic. When I was a teen I wore a lot of leopard print. I'm 5'7
There are lots of kibbe and kitchener content creators out there, but you are by far my favorite because of how insightful and respectful you are! I love how you clarify that dramatic doesn’t mean “masculine” and gamine doesn’t mean “little boy”, for example.Thank you for your effort! Keep up with the great work❤❤
Very interesting! I'm only 5'3" and a lot of my features are 'soft,' yet this video shows that it's not that simple. I tried to dress ingenue to match the roundness and my shortness only to discover I looked really rather silly doing that. So now I've embraced those bold colours and my natural tendency to stand out. Hello drama: I'm here! Thank you for all your hard work!
This is so cool and scary accurate! I'm a 5'9 Dramatic - I'm a professional voice actor and singer. I'm obsessed with fashion, a social butterfly and moved from Canada to London UK and completely reinvented my life. Thank you for this amazing video!
Alright this video and your thorough explanations just blew my mind. I never would have guessed that dramatic essence was a significant part of my blend, but this video really made me realise that all of my favourite garments and accessories (and the ones that I think make me look best!) are actually dramatic 🤯 Thank you!
I was just stalking your channel this week, waiting to hear from you. Thanks! (and also thank you for including wheel chair users in your examples, your effort is acknowledged and appreciated)
Very interesting dive on dramatic essence. As a 5f2 I tought I couldn't have it. But I now understand that even tho I am short, I have a Ingenue/Dramatic with hints of Romantic essences. I see youghfulness in me, but no playfulness.
An ingenue and dramatic blend must be very interesting because they are seemingly opposite. One if fierce and the other is sweet, one is mature looking and the other young. I know one girl who has that perfect sweet face but is very edge y and comes across as super cool. I wonder if that what the blend would render
Gabrielle, you are a rockstar!!! I never comment on UA-cam videos, but I had to pop on here and say how amazing these essence videos are! I feel like I actually understand the essences now, and I've found a deeper appreciation for them all. I can't imagine how much time and research went into making this series - thank you for your dedication!
my favorite thing about these videos is how detailed the information is and how well-organized it is. i've learned so much about not just these philosophies but the pragmatics of them. i also love how practical your advice is! and of course these essence breakdowns are also ideal because you can recommend them to friends when you think they have the essence in question! so it's a bonding experience
After years of being unhappy about my small eyes, yesterday i came to the realization that i actually have dramatic eyes! And actually not just my eyes are my only dramatic traits, but others as well. Double and triple checking your essence chart i realized that my blend is: equally Gamine and Dramatic, followed by an equal Natural and Romantic percentage, which was absolutely mind blowing. Now i finally understand why as a teenager i would gravitate towards blazers, animal print and rocker styles, and why i always hated ruffles and any too girly.
This was so helpful!! I’m starting to think I’m ingenue, romantic, dramatic with a kibbe romantic id. All these years I’ve just done kibbe and never settle on why it didn’t 100% gel. Some of that is just practicality (hello winter as a romantic!), but I knew I was missing *something* - I couldn’t figure it out. I think it’s the dramatic essence! I definitely am not primarily or majorly dramatic (I’ve been trying those looks lately) but some of the bold details are so in harmony with my lines - this really opened up some possible explanations for me. Thank you again for all the work you put into these videos!
This is amount of work and all the details about outline, fabrics, lengths, etc. is fantastic! I feel like having spent an hour in a lecture at University of Style and Essence
Oh my gosh! I agree with everyone who says this is one of the best essence series on UA-cam! So detailed and I love the way you take all hues and hair textures into consideration. And May I also say I love love love your choice of music for these videos! Gorgeous!
I’m a soft natural kibbe but my essences are equal parts dramatic-romantic-ethereal. What would a dramatic and ethereal essence look like if they are on the opposite sides on the spectrum but have equal amounts of on a soft natural without that obvious vertical line? I love your vids, this entire series and your interpretation of all the typing systems. I can tell you truly have that understanding of knowledge and aren’t just spitting out a search engine result. I’ve learnt a lot about general fashion principles from other vids from your channel. Can’t wait to see your channel grow!
this was so helpful! as a soft gamine, i wasn’t sure how i could pull off the looks i love without swallowing my frame but now i see i can keep my tapered looks/strong shoulders and still land the look! thank you!
Here because the stylist said my essences are 50% dramatic, 30% romantic, and 20% ingenue based on my face analysis and how both myself and others perceive me. I never really venture into these three essences before because my Kibbe is Flamboyant Gamine. Here to learn more 😌.
I have been waiting for this!!!. I'm flamboyant gemine and I always thought I have natural eccense. When I asked group what they thought, everyone said dramatic is my main eccense. I never even thought I would have it but now it alllll makes sense. I'm definitely dramatic.
I love the vibes you express through the type of dance / music and houses etc, I hope you do this for the other essences that didn't get theirs mentioned :)
ditto for the hair blends etc. I would love to see a final update etc :) as the series has gone such a long way and expanded so much getting longer every type :)
These essence videos have been so great, thank you so much! I debated for quite some time wether I have dramatic essence or not but nothing else clicked. I'm a very low contrast pale ash blonde soft summer (which made me debate my dramatic) but I look great in black and I think that is my dramatic essence. I naturally gravitate towards bold outfits and makeup but when I was younger I was a bit hesitant to dress bold but I've come to realize I can actually pull it off. My friends often describe me as magnetic and bold so this video totally clicked for me. Dramatic/Natural/Ethereal here, might have very small amounts of something else but these are my big three and your videos really helped me confirm this. After watching your videos I have also really understood what vertical and sharpness in features means and especially finally dressing for my vertical has totally elevated my style.
I love when the videos are longer and longer, it feels like I’m going to be rich with information and examples… the moment I saw it was 1 hour I was like YES!! Fave essence ❤❤ can’t wait to watch it fully, thank you so much for the effort ❤️❤️🤍🤍
Very informative as usual and I agree with your stance on representing outdated opinions. You're still explaining them, but without using the original sexist, descriminatory language or stereotypical gender roles. As someone with a deep and unclear voice (yay for GERD) and typically masculine hobbies, growing up I was told that I wasn't feminine enough and it was "pointless wearing dresses, trying to look pretty or pretending to be dainty" so I disregarded fashion from a very early age just because I didn't think I was invited lol. I definitely think it's time to move on from the original source material, and I really appreciate your emphasis on trying to modernise and de-gender body types and essences.
I love your content so much, it's like having a best friend tell me that I can rock it today. I've been suffering from low self esteem after leaving a domestic abuse situation last year. He was extremely controlling and would often tell me I couldn't wear garments that flattered me as a Soft Dramatic with dramatic/ethereal/romantic essence blend. My friends at the time told me that I tend to express my emotions through how I dress, so being in such a deep, dark place, I lost my sense of self and style. Your videos have been a real confidant and you have truly helped me find my identity again and 'strength through style' through the tools you provide. I cannot thank you enough. I now leave the house more confident in my skin and my lines. I have even found a new, truer love who loves how I dress. And this one on the dramatic essence has helped me discover my inate power where I started to shy away. Just a big thank you for everything, Gabi x x x
I'm so happy to hear that you've found yourself and someone who values all the beauty you bring to the world! I, also, tend to express my emotions when I dress, and I'm glad youre feeling freer and able to rock the day in your beautiful SD lines. Sending you all the👏 ! And thank you, this is such a meaningful and appreciated comment to me! xx
I loved the section about dramatic x romantic. That was a great analysis and really helped me settle for dramatic classic natural blend. I knew I had dramatic but sometimes I questioned It thinking It could be romantic. Thanks!
At first I thought you have an ingenue essence but, now I can see that I mistook your romantic essence for ingenue.. it really takes practice to differentiate between mature and youthful yin, and I'm happy I can finally notice the differences thanks to your efforts to share your knowledge and experience with us in such a fun, positive way 💖💖🥰 Btw, I really like how you style yourself for each essence it's so pretty and inspiring. And thank you so much for explaining how dramatic ingenue could be mistaken for gamine, it helped me to realize that I've been doing the same mistake and it was confusing for me why even tho I look both sharp and a bit childish I still can't pull gamine looks and hairstyles. I'm also a deep winter so I automatically ignored the possibility of having an ingenue essence because of my high contrast and didn't notice that my eyes, lips and dimples gives me a softer yin look.
It can be tricky to differentiate romantic and ingenue, I feel like it's a common confusion! and thank you, that's so nice of you to say. Glad it helped you figure out your gamine versus ingenue with the deep winter balance!!
Rewatching this it just dawned on me how many people I’ve seen who people think have Ethereal Essence but it’s really Ingenue… that kind of angelic cherub thing going on
I've learned this as someone overwhelmingly Romantic who can carry seemingly Ethereal qualities. My blend in Kitchener is Romantic-Dramatic with some Ingenue and minute Classic. Obsolete in Natural and Gamine. In Kibbe, I'm an SD. I'm also 5'3.75"-5'4".
We have remarkably similar general face shapes, so I’m not surprised that I’m a dramatic and romantic mix as you are. It’s interesting that I feel like I’m definitely not a natural, though, but drawn to classic instead. Then again, our body types are quite different - like most AMAB folks I’m an inverted triangle, though I border on rectangular now.
I can't describe in words how this video was and will be helpful to me. Thank you so much for it! I was always drawn to dramatic looks, but people around me said that I had a childish face, that I should be attractive to men like an innocent "doll" and I noticed that my body was too fleshy. Thanks to you, I realized that this can't stop me from having dramatic essence. (I was especially impressed by the table with the external age of romantics, dramatics and angelics). If you decide to make a video with examples based on viewer profiles, then here is my data (I'm studying it myself, so far based on past looks and basic appearance parameters): in style, I was always drawn to the mystical (mages) / gothic / noble warriors (these are fantasies), but in reality: prints on black T-shirts that cause more. And the androgynous style that I want to give up, but the difficulties with money make it difficult to find things for a tall person (and modesty / self-doubt).... Soft Dramatic. Dark winter. Style card: modern charming hypnotic vampire or street "ugly" fashion. Dramatric+Romantic+Ethereal. I work from home, but I go for walks in the city and would like an example of outfits for a music concert so that I can move freely. Thank you if you have read this far. ❤
Oh, I'm convinced this is me. The number of times I've been told by people that they're intimidated by me. I just have that natural RBF combined with shameless eye contact and sharp features, and you have yourself a dramatic essence. I'm a FN in kibbie, but I don't have that approachable quality of naturals. I recently dyed my hair muddy ash blonde, biggest mistake. I've never seen a colour drain the living essence of my face and aura. I had red hair as seen in my pfp, my natural hair is dark brown. I need contrast, even in my day to day casual looks. This is so reassuring.
Bravo! What an excellent deep dive. It's long but you kept me glued to your every word and the visuals too! So, so good. I mean, all of these essences videos I've been watching are just *chef's kiss*. I'm so glad I discovered you! Thanks for including the brands/stores as well. I wonder if you could do the same for the other essences?
Video ideas: make smaller videos complementing the sections you missed in previous essences: a history of the ethereal essence, mom friendly outfits for ingenue etc. Also Q&A for each essence will be great. And lastly, maybe look at some youtubers and type them? To see what works for them and why, for example: Safiya Nygard, Bianca from The Closet Historian, Lydia Naomi, Audrey Coyne, Rachel Maksy.
Yes, that is a great idea for a video. Going to consider it a catch all for previous sections I missed and any lingering questions people still have. I probably wouldn't type other youtubers because I feel it might be considered a bit of an overstep to evaluate someones style/body when they didn't ask for it. But maybe we could find another example option!
This entire series was excellent! I learned so much from it and just went through the chart to figure out my essence blend. Now, off to my closet to figure out how to make my blend work for me! Thanks so much for all of the time, effort and expertise you put into making these videos. Much appreciated!
Thanks so much for answering my question about eyebrow grooming! Totally makes sense and I agree with what you said. Thought I'd provide more context in case it helps. My eyebrow hairs are black and thick and the overall shape is bold and straight-ish, but without plucking I have lots of strays and sort of a unibrow, making a much more diffused natural look. So just by removing the strays it immediately takes them from natural to more dramatic and sharp. It's interesting because, in their unplucked state, they are a true mix of natural and dramatic (which I believe are dominant in my blend). But due to societal grooming norms, I've been told many times they look better when shaped/"cleaned up." I wonder if I'm better off ignoring this and honoring my blend. Loved the video as always, by the way!
Future video idea: More exploration into your essence blend, please! I think you called it romantic nomad? I feel like I fit this tertiary blend but need more direction. If memory serves you also explored this in the natural video, but still not enough for me to fully grasp it. Please bring on more Gabby and Frida Kahlo! Thank you so much for crafting this series. 🧡
My face is an odd combination of soft and sharp. So far I'm pretty sure I have natural and gamine, but I also have the high cheekbones and angular plane of the cheek, like yours. I suspect this is my third essence. Love your videos. ❤
I have been interested in Kibbe and other style concepts for a few years and I'm always happy to learn more information! Your videos are always well thought out and entertaining, and I appreciate you putting yourself out there and using yourself as a subject!! 😊
oh my god! This is the most insanely useful video ever and I need to watch it at 5 more times to be able to note and screenshot and research everything. Thank you for putting it together, this is amazing!😄🤯😍
THANK YOU! Dressing for a dramatic face/Yin body combo is exactly what I was looking for. These outfits look very similar to styles I’ve naturally gravitated towards. 35:29
This video has made me feel more excited about my unique look. I am a Kibbe Dramatic and my essence blend is like 60- 75% Dramatic, and a little Romantic ( because I don't look "Old", but I can drink)
I'm mind blown! After I watch all your essence videos, I feel like I got the missing piece to understanding my essence and vibe. I didn't suspect I had dramatic essence before, but now I realized I have it. I suspect it around 20%. This explains why I look great with sharp shoes and bag. I also love dramatic siren eyes look. My other dominant essences are etherial and romantic. Not sure about the percentages, but I think ethereal is the most dominant one. I can't handle sleek hair or any sharp makeup other than eyeliner. (Not even red lips) Structured/thick fabrics look odd on me, but leader jackets look fine. Some of my best etherial dominant looks also have some sharp features. I didn't notice that before.
I really love what you're teaching to all of us out here in U-tube-land. What I have learned at my age is we all gravitate to an internal calling to our cultural roots in fashion, and colors/ essence. Gabby, I cringed when you said gypsy was a negative term. European Gypsies, I can't speak for all, but those I know of are family-centered, have fabulous food, and love cultural fashion, romance, and drama. They need a style all their own, they are very spirited and so beautiful! They do influence style mostly in the Boho category. My mother was a great example. I grew up with this, and although it's not my style or essence, I still admire it. Thank you for your wonderful videos. I still think you look good with dramatic makeup and hair, but that's probably my gypsy roots whispering. 🥰
Yay! So excited to see this video uploaded, and I am excited to watch it. I only just discovered this series by you yesterday and went looking for the video on Dramatic Essence since I'm unambiguously a Kibbe pure Dramatic and am trying to understand the essences. While visually I see dominant Dramatic and Ethereal essence in myself, I'm drawn to very comfortable, functional, relaxed feeling, but still structured minimalist style (Naturals and Classics, I envy you). Your videos have been helping me understand why my favorite outfits are my favorite outfits. They combine elements of Dramatic and Ethereal essence that I physically embody with influence from the elements of Classic and Natural essence that I envy, and I'm going to keep confidently playing to that. Thank you for your wonderfully insightful takes on the essences!
Hi Gabriella. I’m just starting this journey now and I found it so fascinating. I’m really interested in understanding what makeup to wear based on essence and Kibbe type. Could you do a video just about that? Thanks!
Yes!! These have absolutely been helpful! Even though l found my own blend l’ve watched all of these and learned soooo much about myself/style while doing it. Incl why l haven’t felt goid in certain ”must have” items
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I see why UA-cam have advertised this episode to me for ever…. I just didn’t watch because I didn’t think I was a dramatic type! Hahahhahahahhahahahahah I surrendered and am extremely glad I did ❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you’re hilarious xx
It me!! Thank you for this video! Off to communicate something with my clothes; without that, things feel “off.” I recommend Mara Hoffman for dramatic essence, or maybe more for people who are Kibbe dramatics. So much I love from her!
Long time SD watcher with romantic, ethereal, hint of ingenue and potentially a bit of classic essence here to see where dramatic fits ^^ I already know I’m a romantic-dramatic or “alluring romantic” from that video. But I don’t know just how much I express dramatic and I have been waiting for this video lol
@@Gabriellearrudadesign It did! I’m actually really glad you replied because I was thinking of asking you for help! I confirmed I have a lot of dramatic and romantic. While I have ethereal and ingenue, I had to dig too much to find them. I have almost zero gamine and natural essence. But if my third essence is classic, I could not be more confused. I’m an overweight SD with lots of flesh and curves and I’m tallish (5’7+). I love color, print and avant-garde fashion shapes. I don’t even know how I’d go about making classic work for me. Thinking about it, the positioning of features and the slightly blended, rounded quality of my face points to classic. And the minute I put on a little bit of makeup it immediately looks like a lot. My soft classic friend even suggested I do my liner with shadow because she noticed it. But I’m so known for my over the top style and high contrast that I feel like maybe I got my third essence wrong!
Thank you for doing these, Gabrielle! I'd also love to see a video in the vein of "my week in outfits," showing us how you integrate your essence blend into your everyday dressing.
That could be a fun idea, I'll see I can do that and then make it more applicable to everyone (since i want people to be able to learn something about their outfit building too!) thank you!
Thank you for making this video. I watched your video on the Natural Essence and it didn't seem to quite hit the mark. In Kibbeland I'm a Flamboyant Natural. After looking at the chart provided I really seem to be a combination of Dramatic and Natural essence - about 50/50. I found it interesting that many of the comments earlier in the video, when you were describing the Dramatic essence, were things I had been told about myself - intimidating, bold, dramatic, over the top, voice that carries, etc. It was nice to see laid out in print what others had been seeing for so long. However, I still look great in mini-skirts and the hair style that looks best on me is always big and tousled (no matter the length) ;-) Looking forward to your upcoming videos!!
I am a Soft Dramatic but this is like a description of me personally 😂 👏 I don't know what percentage of dramatic I am exactly but if this video is anything to go by it must be a lot, at least 40/50% because 80% of this video rings true for me. Although, my face is TR/inginue so body and face are quite different. I'm very creative and I do not hold back , my outfits are my playground and I just don't feel like myself without creating a authentic/bold look ( not too bold, overly puffy/,padded shoulders, bright colours or baggy/ oversized androgenous are not my look). I can only wear short dress or skirt if it's high neck , otherwise I can look /feel naked , like lines are too short for me. I best suit long dresses/skirts like midis or maxis. Im glad you mantioned a short dramatic. I'm only 5'3, despite being 5'3 Im elongated legs and definitely think I have a long vertical line.i can definitely carry off a full dramatic outfit. I had a sharp straight gradient lob cut , just slightly above the shoulder and it looked so perfect on me . Unfortunately I couldn't keep up with it and men really didn't seem to like it 😂 maybe I looked to dominant for there insecure arses. I really miss it 😭🤦♀️ I looked really good with a french plait in to a high pony with straight hair when I had really long hair down my bum. yesss! I look great looking really natural, but only can carry either a bold eye with a neutral lip or a bold lip with winged liner, not both . If I got a pound every time someone thought I look bitchy 😂😭 🤦♀️ RBF problems for sure .
Thanks so much for finishing this series! I have really enjoyed all of them. For your next video here is my information: Romantic and Ethereal essence about 50/50 (romantic contrast and ethereal facial features) Flamboyant Natural Kibbe ID Bright Spring color season (I favor the darker and more saturated tones since I have high contrast. I also love unique color combinations.) My style mood board has Romantic and Medieval imagery on it. I would really enjoy to see your take on this situation lol. I need casual and business casual (appropriate for a classroom setting) ideas that aren’t highly structured or denim. I do like wearing oversized pieces and open necklines to accommodate FN frame.
This is legit me at 6 foot 1 height 😁 but I have softer features. So I feel I’m a soft dramatic. I’ll have to watch your romantic essence next! That’s the only other one I could be mixed with
Amazing thank you! I am definitely a dramatic kibbe and initially I was very opposed to his suggestions of tailoring and sharpness - I felt it didn’t match my soft personality and I was afraid of looking masculine and intimidating. However I have been testing more dramatic features and outfits and I must say I do look better and it’s made me feel more confident. Perhaps it has encouraged the stronger parts of my personality to express themselves and after learning more about dramatic types I can rest in my innate softness’s whilst embracing dramatic elements.
I'm a D or SD (leaning SD) but I have little to no dramatic essence in the Kitchener sense--at least according to everyone I've crowd-sourced from. I am a Dark Autumn color palette and think my essence blend is Romantic-Natural-Classic, but maybe Romantic-Natural-Ethereal.
After watching this, I realize that what I thought was romantic essence in me turns out to be dramatic / ingenue blend! Makes so much sense! Thanks for explaining this system so well :)
Helpful and a lot of work. I wish I could like more than once. I think I'm Dramatic Romantic Natural, which is close to your type, but at the same time I don't think I understood how to select the proper option for things like eye, hair, skin color since some options are available for different essences and it's hard to point out manner, voice, etc. Beyond this, I see some classic in me. 😅 I'm still learning and if I became really interested I'll post in the communities to see what people think.
Thank you SO much for this! I always thought I had this dramatic/romantic blend since I’m a soft dramatic, thank you so much for talking about it! Now Im going to rewatch this as I create a new capsule wardrobe that actually works for me ❤😊
I'm going to do the outfit compilation for myself next, but I wanted to note some thoughts. 1) I thought I had romantic and gamine quite strongly in my blend, but that's slowly shifted in my head. One of my favorite outfits is a denim button-front tank minidress with a striped mock neck long sleeve in muted "fall tones" underneath, paired with mustard tights and cognac lace-up booties. I thought that was quite gaminish, but have realized the stripes (medium-wide for my height, I'm 5'4, but would be medium-narrow width for a taller person), fabrics (natural textures), colors (natural and ingenue being on the muted but slightly fresh end), and length/shape (shorter vertical, but not dragged down by dark color tights, and softer rounded silhouette and not a rectangular or particularly curvy) come from more of an ingenue, dramatic, and natural mix. I think there is still a small amount of gamine in my blend, but it's not as much as the other three, and I lack the type of romantic maturity in my look. 2) I shine in both sparkly, natural makeup and dark, experimental, or intense makeup, but it has to balance out the rest of my look. Ex. When I wear my black t shirt dress that has a ruffled asymmetrical skirt with small floral details and no waist definition paired with lug sole platform combat boots, I look better with fresh makeup that coordinates with the floral details because dramatic makeup would drag me down. But if I'm wearing a softer colored top, I can bring back intensity and contrast with a dark lip (navy, purple, deep green, burgundy, black etc), and can even look washed out if I have softer makeup to coordinate. 3) I finally did the chart (waited until I'd watched everything), and got 11 natural, 10 ingenue, and 9 dramatic, with 7 gamine as the next highest (everything else was 5 or less). I am a Kibbe SN. So it seems that I have quite similar amounts of those three, which is not what I'd guessed for myself at the start! I thought I was a gamine-dramatic-romantic, but it does seem that my style has more ingenue vibes than gamine because of the type of small scale detail and freshness in it, and the maturity comes from a relaxed and intense yang as opposed to yin. Of course the chart isn't everything, and I still do have probably 10% gamine or something, but this was illuminating and I had a lot of fun :)
I feel like it can be so difficult to determine if you really have an essence or if you just have such an admiration for an essence that you make yourself think you have it
I think it's ok to play with it either way! Eventually you'll see whether or not its "your" essence, but fashion should always be fun
@@Gabriellearrudadesign I love this approach!
I felt this! Sometimes I wonder if I have gamine essence or if that’s just my personality lol
I know right lol 😁
I do the same! But then I just become more realistic about it and I think self love and acceptance is excruciatingly important, especially in this aspect. Sending you an abundant amount of love and luck 🤗
Thank you for including models in wheelchairs. It means a lot to casually exist in a video that doesn't have disability as its main topic, just being there too alongside everyone else.
I believe that's how it should always be!
❤❤❤
A😊
You deserve a standing ovation for this entire series. The detail to attention with everything from information to inclusivity.... fantastic. Thank you!!!! ❤
Thank you so much! That's so nice of you to say!!
@@Gabriellearrudadesign please check your dm on Instagram I sent you a message 💋
@@drmichelledaf I just replied 🥰👍🏻
Best kitchner video series on youtube. Once I figure out my essence blend, I’m rewatching the videos. Great rewatch value.
Wow, thank you so much! So nice to hear!!
Yes, me too! I wathed all of these videos last summer when I had no idea, now knowing to be DGC I get so much more out of this amazing content!
Totally agree!
Omg, thank you! I'm so appreciative and it really means a lot to me. (and I'm glad you liked the intro, I love to have fun with them!)
I would SO be down to see your take on essences for Men. And blending their essence and Kibbe ID for their clothing. Wanting to help style the men in my life 😁😂
Ooh interesting! Maybe I'll start a running style parameter list for men (that ppl submit) and we can do a video like that!
@@Gabriellearrudadesign YES 😍 You're the best 😊❤️
@@Gabriellearrudadesign do you think Jack Black has gamine essence? My son looks so much like a young jb. I think they are both quirky, funny and cute.
@@shoshanafox727 yes I think that would be a good guess for Jack black
@@Gabriellearrudadesign thanks! I like to buy clothes for him. This is very helpful. ❤
I don't have any dramatic essence myself, but of course I want to learn to recognize all of the essences. The way you teach is super entertaining and especially nice for visual learners.
I'm so glad it's still helpful even if you don't have it!
As a curvy romantic wit very sharp facial features, THANK YOU FOR THIS. OMG. I have been trying to thread this needle for ages.
So glad it was helpful!! 😊
Yes! I think I’m some kind of gamine but my body is much curvier than my pointy face. So glad to see this acknowledged.
Same! I have an extremely sharp face, and never felt like I made sense until this.
You look like anjelica houston!! So pretty!!
I can’t have enough of this video, 5 times and I have to keep coming back and back again. You are the best!
Wow, thank you!
No, thank YOU!! 💕
Damn, you need like hundreds of thousands of views for these videos. The insight is on another level.
haha, that's very nice to hear, thank you!!
I'm glad it helped you confirm it wasn't in your blend! Natural/ingenue is such a pretty mix too
Omg yes! I prefer to dress edgy and dark but have a ingenue/natural essence with only slight dramatic 😢
Do I have any dramatic essence? No.
Am I going to watch this video regardless? Yes.
Yes, vertical line is a crazy concept once you start to notice it on people, you kind of can't stop analyzing it once you see it lol
I am SD and have mostly dramatic some ingenue and minimal romantic essence. That explains why I was so lost in other youtubers advice who mostly emphasise the bold romance of soft dramatics. You've helped me so much. Thank you ❤️.
You're so welcome!
I love your emphasize on fabric in your videos. It's so helpful for me to understand the silhouettes. You are bringing so major Devil Wears Prada vibes in that outfit and I love it!!
haha, I can totally see that! And I'm glad you like the fabric sections, I'm a total fabric nerd!
If it’s possible to have zero amounts of essence, then that’s me and Dramatic. I thought that before, and your video confirmed it, but I loved it regardless (of course). Excellent work x
Haha, well I’m glad you still enjoyed it!!
I never thought I have a dramatic essence, but this video changed my mind. Sharp eyebrows and a bold lip suits me best. I think my 3 essence are: Romantic, Ingenue and Dramatic. When I was a teen I wore a lot of leopard print. I'm 5'7
Seriously, you're the best. Now I know that, although people think I'm a drama queen, I don't have a centimeter of dramatic essence.
There are lots of kibbe and kitchener content creators out there, but you are by far my favorite because of how insightful and respectful you are! I love how you clarify that dramatic doesn’t mean “masculine” and gamine doesn’t mean “little boy”, for example.Thank you for your effort! Keep up with the great work❤❤
Thank you so much! that means a lot!
I never would have guessed that dramatic essence was a significant part of my blend, but this video really made me realise that all of my favourite garments and accessories (and the ones that I think make me look best!) are actually dramatic 🤯
Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I was just stalking your channel this week, waiting to hear from you. Thanks!
(and also thank you for including wheel chair users in your examples, your effort is acknowledged and appreciated)
Sorry it took so long, I just kept adding and adding it took longer than expected. And thank you!
Thank you! I'm really glad you liked it!!
my favorite thing about these videos is how detailed the information is and how well-organized it is. i've learned so much about not just these philosophies but the pragmatics of them. i also love how practical your advice is! and of course these essence breakdowns are also ideal because you can recommend them to friends when you think they have the essence in question! so it's a bonding experience
Sorry for the quality in first minute or so- it improves after that! But yt STRUGGLED with this rather large upload...
Sounds like you could really pull off some high fashion editorial looks!
A tattoo/piercing jewelry for the essenses video would be so fascinating!
Glad it was helpful! 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm a dominant dramatic with ethereal and romantic as well with TR Kibbe and I waited so much for this video. Thank you so much!!!
Can’t wait to see your channel grow!
this was so helpful! as a soft gamine, i wasn’t sure how i could pull off the looks i love without swallowing my frame but now i see i can keep my tapered looks/strong shoulders and still land the look! thank you!
I think soft dramatic elements and how you style them honours your three essence blends so well
Thank you! 🥰
Yes each video got longer and I felt more comfortable adding my own additions to it- I’ll try to add some for previous videos 👍🏻
ditto for the hair blends etc. I would love to see a final update etc :) as the series has gone such a long way and expanded so much getting longer every type :)
@@onipot9639 I agree! Hair is so important being near your face :)
I'm so glad you liked it, because I always worry when they get soo long!
Who told you that? Your mother? Which woman told you that? Horrible! 🤦🏻♀️
Thanks!
At first I thought you have an ingenue essence but, now I can see that I mistook your romantic essence for ingenue.. it really takes practice to differentiate between mature and youthful yin, and I'm happy I can finally notice the differences thanks to your efforts to share your knowledge and experience with us in such a fun, positive way 💖💖🥰
Btw, I really like how you style yourself for each essence it's so pretty and inspiring.
Rewatching this it just dawned on me how many people I’ve seen who people think have Ethereal Essence but it’s really Ingenue… that kind of angelic cherub thing going on
Yes!! Ingenue is a very missunderstood type.
I'm glad that it helped you figure out your main essence! embrace that contrast😊
@@Gabriellearrudadesign maybe viewers could send in for the video. I volunteer as tribute
I think Sofia Nygard have dramatic and ingenue. And gamine??
Just an appreciation comment for the variety of people included in your examples. It’s so helpful and refreshing!
I"m glad!
This video has made me realise I have dramatic essence even though I never thought so because I’m quite shy ! Thank you so much ! ❤️
Yay, that's wonderful!
Incredibly helpful. I kept pausing and scrutinizing. You put a lot of work into this and it is much appreciated!!!
I'm so sad that this is the last one...I want someone to create a new essence so you can cover it
What a nice thing to say! I promise to keep making helpful videos even if they aren’t official deep dives 🙃
Omg. Thank you for doing ingenue/dramatic combos for essences!
This is the only one I'm SURE I don't have at all, but I love your content.
haha, thank you!
THANK YOU for talking about the dramatic/ingenue combo, this helped a lot!!!!
I’m glad it helped clarify it!

This is so wonderful to hear, and I'm really glad you liked it!!
Girl, you've put so much work into this series! Thank you so much!!! Quality content. 😍
Yay!! I’m so glad 🥰 exactly my goal with making it
Eventhough i don't have a bit of this essence.. I learn a lot from this video!! I feel like my knowledge is completed tysm 😍😍😍
Youre so welcome!
(Not even red lips)
Structured/thick fabrics look odd on me, but leader jackets look fine.
Some of my best etherial dominant looks also have some sharp features. I didn't notice that before.
I’m so glad it helped you out the pieces together! And what a great blend 🥰
I think we always envy other essences because I love the DE blend! I'm glad it was helpful and I hope it helps you build your dream outfits!
wow that's crazy you're only 5'6! I would have said 5'10 at least! you are gorgeous :)
This is such an amazing and informative video !!! The attention to detail is beyond words. Thank you fro taking the time to make this video!!!
That's amazing that you've figured that out, I'm so glad the videos have been helpful!
Haha I’m glad you finally gave in and enjoyed it!
Slaying so much with your vertical line in this one
Thank you so much. This was the most informative video on dramatic type I've ever seen.
It me!! Thank you for this video! Off to communicate something with my clothes; without that, things feel “off.”
I recommend Mara Hoffman for dramatic essence, or maybe more for people who are Kibbe dramatics. So much I love from her!
That's wonderful! And yes love Mara Hoffman, so chic!!
I hope it helps you figure out that last element!
Yessss Gabrielle!!!! Your channel just can’t be beat 🎉
thank you so much!!
However, I still look great in mini-skirts and the hair style that looks best on me is always big and tousled (no matter the length) ;-)
Looking forward to your upcoming videos!!
Thank you! Yes I felt the same way, dramatic essence helped me round out my kibbe ID and styling choices
1890-1899 were very dramatic leaning! ✨💃🏽
Thanks so much for finishing this series! I have really enjoyed all of them.
For your next video here is my information:
Romantic and Ethereal essence about 50/50 (romantic contrast and ethereal facial features)
Flamboyant Natural Kibbe ID
Bright Spring color season (I favor the darker and more saturated tones since I have high contrast. I also love unique color combinations.)
My style mood board has Romantic and Medieval imagery on it.
I would really enjoy to see your take on this situation lol. I need casual and business casual (appropriate for a classroom setting) ideas that aren’t highly structured or denim. I do like wearing oversized pieces and open necklines to accommodate FN frame.
Added to this list!!
Anjelica Huston is so iconic. I adore her and her performances!
I'm so glad it helped you!!
I would LOVE a video series about the kibbe types. This whole series is so well done.
I’m actually stepping back from kibbe related content. But thank you!
Thank you SO much for this! I always thought I had this dramatic/romantic blend since I’m a soft dramatic, thank you so much for talking about it! Now Im going to rewatch this as I create a new capsule wardrobe that actually works for me ❤😊
Hi! I'm a pure dramatic with dramatic and natural essence. Thank you so much for this video it was super helpful!! ❤
So glad to hear this! 😊
I have classic, etherial and dramatic essence and I am soo excited for this video 😍😍😍🥳
I hope it helps you complete you blend/looK!
Yay!!! Thanks for this! Please keep talking about essences and kibbe and color- your take is so helpful!
I plan to! I think the next video might be another from the series about building outfits around viewers style parameters!
