I’ve recently discovered Akis, my wife children and myself lived in Greece for 7 years, loved it, loved Greece and her food. Akis has inspired me to cook again, his recipes are fantastic, Regards Richie Windmill
Im not greek nor is my hubs, but tbis pregnancy makes me ONLY want greek food. Made your moussakka which was amazing. Now im going to put in the work and make amazing spanakopita 😅
I tried this pie at the airport in Heraklion Greece; I loved it so I searched it, found some others but then I remembered! Akis! so I searched again and I found it..it looks beautiful. .easily recreatable..can't wait to give it a go..yet another lasting memory brought into the present. I love food and cooking nearly as much as you do Akis..
This was delicious.....And for the dough 210ml water (from the recipe - not mentioned in the video).. Spinach is pretty expensive in Finland so I used a mixture of baby spinach, black beet (chard) and kale. Was extremely delicious, probably due to the herbs coming straight from our garden! thanks!
Akis my mum makes pita and I keep asking her to show me how to make the filo and she says 'oh no it's too hard' she's old now and she learnt in her village by my grandmother when she was young. I will do this recipe and show her I can do it 👍😁 (I'm from Australia but my parents are from Karditsa)
My hometown of Baltimore has an awesome Greek community and I miss the fabulous foods, where I live in the south and I can only enjoy your wonderful cusine at the yearly GREEK FESTIVAL where my family and I are Greek and it's not enough...YOU MAKE IT POSSIBLE to enjoy all you very easy recipes....THANK YOU!!!!😊😋💋
Who doesn't love this pie really xD! An absolute masterpiece! Love me some good spanakopita! Kids in Greece used to fight about whose grandma made the best spanakopita back when I was a kid at least haha! Poor them..it was obviously my grandma 😄
We are serbian and my mom makes a similar version of this pie. A lot of serbian people make this type of pie. Obviously I believe it is inspired by the greeks. Serbians and greeks are orthodox brothers. Akis, thank you for the recipe.
... It originated from Turkish cuisine ... (like MOST foods people mistake as being greek). It was introduced to greeks during the Turkish occupation of greece. The original is called "ispanakli börek" ... which simply spinach stuffed in pastry.
@@virtuallyme2518 Yes my friend you are right... Turks who were NOMADS showed to Greeks - one of the most IMPORTANT CIVILIZATIONS the human kind have ever seen - how to ...cook. Because even the local rulers where just Christians of byzantine culture that turned muslim. There is an account after the fall of constantinople where the Patriarch mentions that the Christians were converted to Islam with their own will(to get the privileges of the new ruler) in waves.Another account states that the anatolian turkish people were displeased with mehmet and his predecessor for the privileges they gave to local people of thrace macedonia Epirus and Thessaly for becoming muslims thus turkified...So let me ask you again, what is turkish other than a broken language that dates from some nomad conquerors without any national belief?
@@mdina80 Very interesting history of the Mediterranian. You are talking about the Greek city States outside Greece/Hellas? So its only Sicilians and not the Italians right? They originate from the Italics right? I actually thought that the greeks were thrown out of the city states after Rome conquered them and populated them with their own people
Hi Akis, I am new to your channel but you have quickly become my favorite new cooking show to watch, your RECIPES are WONDERFUL! You explain things very well..making it look simple and taking out ALOT of extra complicated steps... keeping it simple is great!! thank you and keep the great recipes coming!
Akis !!!! I'm HOOKED !! Your recipes look so delicious its INSANE !! and even tho I'm a vegetarian, i loooove watching all ur recipes ... u always put a smile on my face ;)
I am SOOOOO glad to have found your UA-cam channel Akis!! I love Greek and Greek Cypriot food! Keep these authentic recipes coming! I need to learn much much more!!
Akis, you make everything look so easy! You convince us to make the most complicated dishes. I made this today. I may have used too much spinach as I used deep frozen one ( 750 g ). So the pie was quite high and the rest of the olive oil poured out of the pan a little , but altogether it was delicious! And I found out that it's easier and quicker to get a presentable shape of the phyllo dough when you use your hands to spread it in the end. The phyllo dough was "perfection"! Thank you Akis for making us try out new things and successfully so!
Well done Akis ,I like your channel as a Mediterranean man from Albania in UK, I trying a lot of your recipes really good food who represent Greece rich traditions of food and culture.
My dear Akis, I recently made a Greek-themed family dinner, based upon your recipes: moussaka, spanakopita, pita bread, tzatziki and your fabulous Greek salad ala Marathon. It was wonderful. Thank you, my son.
I made this yesterday everything turned out amazing except dough I had A very hard time to open it. The end result was amazing everybody loved it. Thank you sir you ROCK

you made it look easy. but I know that the dough making part is hard...mine would be too thick or would get big holes in it. I will just enjoy watching you make yours.
