Gar in Rattlehead sound estellar! The only person that get close performing that song is Dirk the current drummer! It really needs clock timing, insane speed and great stamina!
I'm pretty sure the vocals are dubbed. Check out 1:45 when he says "empty skies" for the second time. He's in the background not standing near the mic...
Holy shit! This fucking rocks! Mustaine & Co. sure knew how to put on a hell of a show. Dave's vocals were actually pretty good! Everyone was giving it their all, and it showed. And this was on MTV. Long before it became the cancerous tumor it is today.
this is just amazing. I watched this video countless times. this is amongs the best Megadeth live performences ever. love Junior's vocals in this live track. long live Megadeth
Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings must be the most timeless albums this band has ever done. If it would be released today with a little bit better production it would wash away any rock band.
Youthanasia especially is a timeless masterpiece agreed. Production was perfect back then however... They would totally screw it up with too much compression these days.
One of the few times, if not the only time that Dave played a 22 fret Jackson King V, live. Also, one of the few times Dave ever used a Floyd Rose tremolo unit, live. He once stated the reason for using the 22 fret guitar that night, but my memory fails me now.
Holy crap...Nick was a BEAST at drumming (Wish he was still alive...2016 has sucked for music so bad), and Junior's vocals are so sexy! This will forever be my favorite lineup, and they're good, if not, better than Metallica (just my opinion).
MegaEnforcer95 there are definitely exceptions to those however. He had some great moments in 2001 and in 1992 especially. I really think his best vocals were somewhere in the 94/95 days though. This is one of the best examples of the fact that Mustaine CAN do good vocals.
The only time that Dave ever used a 22 fret Jackson King V. I wish I could remember the exact reason why, as I once read a comment from Dave where he explained it. Maybe someone on here can help ? But, one thing to point out, is that this King V has a Floyd Rose locking tremolo, which Dave used exclusively for this song, as he's never used one very much. All of his old King V's had fixed, non-tremolo Kahler bridges, to my knowledge. Anyway, interesting fact that some of you might not have been aware of. Wish Dave would go back to Jackson before he retires, as he, along with Robbin Crosby of RATT, made this model famous. He just looks right playing one, IMO. Also, thoughts and prayers go out to Dave, as he deals with throat cancer. Get well soon Dave, and God bless !!!!!!!!!
He sounded the best during the 90's especially 94-99. He still sounded great until around 2008. Something happened to his neck after that which require major surgery and he always looks in pain when singing after that.
I agree with first two comments cleanest I've heard dave on vocals really proved himself here. also cool to see dave jr supporting nick menza like that on drums !!
It's unfortunate that Dave Mustaine never consider this one as a top 5. Only Kiko said once as a fan his favorite is Rust in Peace, but as a musician : Youthanasia.
Personally I love Youthanasia but Megadeth never considered it a good album. Just watch the Making of Youthnasia documentary, Marty was shitting on Youthnasia before the album even released by saying that "it's no way near our best stuff".
Dave, met David when Dave rented an apartment, can't remember where, Dave was trying to sleep one off, Dave kept hearing the bass line from Van Halen Running With The Devil. Dave, pounded on David's door, rest is history. read the book Mustane
Dave’s voice was STRONG here. I love it.
David Ellefson makes this the best live performance of the song I've ever seen his backing vocals are great.
Happy Birthday David Ellefson 🎂
Kerry King doesnt like megadeth, so why why would you?
@@donbies7977 stupid question
Junior’s always been no less than great
To me Dave Ellefson's back ground vocals sound like talking...
It’s sad we will never see a reunion of this lineup. RIP Nick
And now not even Junior is no longer in the band:(((((
Rest in Peace to the best megadeth's drummer ever! we'll gonna miss you, Nick.
ditto
Gar was better
Gar Samuelson too!!!!!
Gar in Rattlehead sound estellar! The only person that get close performing that song is Dirk the current drummer! It really needs clock timing, insane speed and great stamina!

Dave Lombardo could play that song easily - it's slow compared to Slayer's fastest songs.
Menza is absolutely fucking killing. Relentless.
most definitely
David's bass presence is spot on. Love that you can hear it without struggling.
The ultimate Megadeth lineup. Mustaine sounds fabulous on this album.
i agree
I love David backing vocals!
Same here!
wow dave jr's singing.... unbelievable
Sure is nd he rules and shreds!
surprised me of how nice it sounded
What a stunning vocal performance from Dave :O
I never saw Mustaine singing like this.... simply amazing !
one of his most impressive live performances ever, he was in his vocal prime here!
david backing vocals just amazing
3:42 - Love this part with David Ellefson singing the chorus!
Ellefson's voice mixed with Mustaine's guitar vibrato at the end of his solo, just perfect!
3:42
0:50 - Dave Jr was playing custom percussion before it was cool (I'm talking to you, Slipknot!)
Slipknot sucks

Dave's vocals were best around 1994/95, 1998/99, 2005-2007 and now late 2013 they sound good live as well.
Their shit in 2021 sadly
I'm pretty sure the vocals are dubbed. Check out 1:45 when he says "empty skies" for the second time. He's in the background not standing near the mic...

How you feel bout the latest megadave cut?
@@Whiplashed it’s just an effect. On the original track they repeated empty skies they only did thi a couple times live
Can’t believe I didn’t go to their concert with this line up when they came to my town in 1998
I saw them on the Youthanasia tour. You missed out for sure.
At least you were alive
I was born 2 days after this. Awesome.
3:41 Jr Vocals Awesome
Holy shit! This fucking rocks! Mustaine & Co. sure knew how to put on a hell of a show. Dave's vocals were actually pretty good! Everyone was giving it their all, and it showed. And this was on MTV. Long before it became the cancerous tumor it is today.
Menza on fire...
As usual, :)
Best drummer Megadeth has ever had.
Maybe one of the best Megadeth's performance.....
This was the first concert I ever went too. I was 15 years old.
2:13 sounds fucking awesome..Bravo Marty!
Love this song, 1st song on the album, and this was a great album, pretty underrated.
Dave Ellefson backing vocal at the chorus, damn its so nice to hear
Love this song and Marty’s simple but tasty licks before the chorus.
this is just amazing. I watched this video countless times. this is amongs the best Megadeth live performences ever. love Junior's vocals in this live track. long live Megadeth
Mustaine fucking pipes back in those days! serious voice here!!
I miss that years
I love the drums in this
Played in Eb tuning like it should! :D I love this song.

Same for KIMB. It's so unique it's timeless.

That production on that album is terrible though.

Holy wars* (just joking). Hell yeaaaah!!! 🤘
Hey, Dystopia came out in 2016, that's arguably Megadeth's best album since Youthanasia.

Dave's vocals suck on that album.
David backing
Friedman is the bomb.
That backing vocal
Remember being in my senior year when I saw it live on MTV. I was just dropped jaw.
Nick Menza's memory will live on forever...
Dave looks like a Jedi.
Here comes the Reckoning Dave...!!!✨
I remember watching this over and over. Megadeth at it's finest!
Best Megadeth ! Best Line-Up !
What a powerful show!!!
this is my favorite version of this song, sounds awesome
Finally a crowd that goes along with the music instead of staying still
1994 and 2007 were probably the best years Mustaine had as a vocalist. With 94 probably being the best for Ellefson aswell.
What about 90-92? 85-88? Those are great eras too
best Megadeth ever!! this is the line up i got hooked up to
that's Megadeth I love, that time will stay forever with me
I love megadeth’s last few albums! So good. But I do miss when his voice was like this though.

GTAfan421 I personally think he did really well in the blood in the water show
This was the best Megadeth.. Marty on leads.
Dave was at his vocal peak on Rust In Peace, Youthanasia, and Cryptic Writings.
This was the best line-up Megadeth Ever had....sad to hear rick is no more, he was hell of a drummer....R.I.P Nick Menza...
Menza, please, come back! Best Megadeth formation!
shit , watch this comment after his death.
Sorry, dude. Didn't catch what you said. This comment is about 10 months ago.

The best line up of megadeth
One of their best live performances ever but mustaine looks high af at 3:58-4:00 lol
