I don’t know if I’m just easy to please when it comes to ASOIAF content, but I’ve had difficulty relating to a lot of the criticisms of HOTD season 2, or at least had difficulty relating to the not so good parts affecting my enjoyment by any substantial measure. Looking forward to the next HOTD season and diving further into Dunk and Egg content in the interim. Hopefully Winds will come out at some point during all this, but George can do what he wants and I don’t feel entitled to it by any means.
MOONDANCER STANS RISE 🖤 I wouldn't of been surprised or disappointed if this was an hour purely dissecting the scene of Moondancer swooping down upon the incel for a bit of fun! 😁Alas this is the only recap/review of season 2 that I need! It cannot be bettered! I do agree also the season could feel like a big setup to the third. When its all out though & finished an you do a rewatch or a first time watch of the show it won't exactly matter because there's no 18 month gap - whatever time gap between seasons then. And its true, you watch the first 6 seasons of Thrones its 8 eps of setup, 9th big event, 10th aftermath.. People want season 7/8 type pacing (bizarrely), others want the early seasons type of pace (me lol), you can't win. Love as always, Xerxes 💜

I agree that it's definitely going to work better on rewatch when we have subsequent seasons in place. The frustration that I have is mostly in the fact we do have to wait 18months+ for the next season after such intense build-up. But it's just more reason to get on HBOs case! I actually rewatched season 8 before HoTD S2 and the pacing would give you whiplash, which is probably why I enjoyed actually having some council and rich dialogue scenes to pace us a bit here Much love T0FFII🐉💚

The main thing I'd love for them to focus on next season is emphasizing the duality of the characters. Not really a big fan of Aemond being painted as the main antagonist. Also, the blacks being portrayed as the good side is so off lol. I haven't read ahead but I assume Daeomond will be making up for his lack of war crimes etc to even things out?
30:30 You missed the chance to brag. You were one of the minority that picked up there was some element of attraction between Rhaenyra and Mysaria. You weren't totally blinded sided by the kiss like many others were. I didn't see it. Not the first time as a man that the whole concept there might be some subtext to a few glances and looks from women went right over my head, and it probably won't be the last time either. 😂 So kudos, You were 100% on that one. I think the writers were probably yet to complete the final draft of the scripts tbh. There are just a few scenes that work well alone, but don't link up as a whole. Like the Daemon/Rhaenyra riverlands stuff we discussed earlier really stands out as an example of this. The news of behind-the-scenes issues isn't a huge surprise in hindsight. That's a cool link with your family. 'Met on the set of GOT' is badass. Seeing the Atlantic Ocean one day is actually on my bucket list - enjoy.

Tbh, it was something that confused me seeing videos and online discourse after the episode saying there was no [obvious] build up when (for me) the subtext was there. Maybe it's just that a bi woman is keeping an eagle eye out for representation, so I was picking up on things as being the sort of clumsy avoidant sexual tension that precedes many sapphic encounters. Even in the shots where their dress and hair were mirroring the invert of each other and the considered shift in her departing the collective black council in favour of mysaria's individual council. Yeah, from episode 1 I never believed that Daemon wanted the crown, but for the sake of story arc it was a good way to tie in the visions up to episode 8 as him reckoning w his own ambition then re-centering his priorities, but I do partly agree that the ep 8 vision shouldn't be used as justification for this change; a part of an overall justification sure but let's not dismiss the earlier visions pls This being said, Daemon Targaryen saying winter is coming did give my chills lmao So many people I know worked on the original show, I even went to the Season 8 'Welcome Back' screening & afterparty w a load of cast and crew. The franchise has done a lot for employment, tourism, and development of our creative industries here, I'm so glad to see it return w Dunk n Egg Ps. I hope someday you get to witness the mighty strength, ferocity, and beauty of the wild Atlantic
@@SinXerxes Yeah I think simply rewriting the scenes a little bit to not have it feel as though it's the catalyst for his decision, and instead a re-affirmant of something he had already decided on his own would have made it click better. Broome's 'light treason' and Daemon's response can then be viewed as Daemon playing the guy by poker facing Broome into a situation, where he has to publicly kneel for Rhaenyra again anyway instead of some final temptation. All the more reason to cheer on Dunk and Egg then! So if you're gunna do some character stuff btw, Criston Cole is my suggestion. I think they did some interesting things with the character, and the fact lots of people appear to absolutely loathe him without him being written as a 'feeds people to dogs and enjoys it' kind of psycho like Ramsey Bolton that your obviously supposed to hate is reasonably well done imo. I think some of the reaction is simply down too: You've probably never met a Ramsey, but you might have met a Cole before. So he really gets under people's skin. 😂
