I think part of the reason why Alicent was feeling so uncomfortable while she was taking a bath is because she knows all those new servants were hand picked by Larys.
Ngl Aegon would be a better "dumdum" king to befriend than Joffrey bec for a sadist drunk, he sure knows his place and to have fun. And he is probably not mad
It is so weird when the greens were talking about their dragons, they were acting like the only dragons they have are Sunfyre and Vhagar. No mention of Dreamfyre and we don’t even know if Daeron exists
Can't wait for a telenovela style "your brother has returned" and Daeron struts in at the end of an episode, leaving all the non-book readers to be like "who is this man???"
This must prove that Alt Shift X and Schwifty are two different people. There’s no way he could have done his 3 hour breakdown immediately after the episode aired and this so quickly.
'Both' claim to be Australian so I think it's more likely they are jumping back and forth across the international date line for the infinite time glitch.
12:00 I think when Daemon says "The mother grieves as the queen shirks her duties." This is a direct parallel between Rhaenyra and Allicent since later Aemond says to Crispy Crunch "The Queen speaks with two tongues." Both are torn between two roles as mothers and queens/former queens. So cool the writing is so good in this show!
I think it's more about the fallibility of political systems built on personal relationships generally. Their personal feelings have an immense importance politically but the relationships are the foundation of the stability of the entire realm
I find it a bit icky that you're making fun of her sexual assault scene: Larys coerced her, and whilst this isn't real, there are real SA victims who will see all your jokes...
@MI-vc9lp this is the internet, and I really don't like talking about very private and touchy subjects here; additionally you might not believe me when I say I have been a victim of SA and making jokes about it, EXCLUSIVELY in a fictional setting, is how a lot, and I mean an inordinate amount of people, cope. It wasn't even an incredibly tasteless or aggressive one, at that ^^ Art is, among a lot of other things, meant as a coping mechanism for real life trauma, so why not let us have it?
@@lolaadam3788 its honestly a fair complaint about a pretty tasteless joke (not saying tasteless jokes are never funny) and i think ur being a bit weird acting like people either have to take jokes they don't feel comfortable with or just leave... it's like it doesn't have to be such a big thing. just being honest with someone telling a joke, being like "hey that honestly makes me uncomfortable" its a really simple thing it doesn't have to be so hostile an interaction. it's not even saying the joke isn't good or funny, just that it made someone uncomfortable. it's a good thing for people telling jokes to understand that their jokes might make some ppl feel uncomfortable in some way.
In the show, Jaehaerys is Aegon's only son, and they make a point that he's Aegon's heir. With Jaehaerys dead, Aegon will have to choose a new heir... And he'll have to choose between his daughter and his brother. That sounds familiar.
Obviously this implies that Aegon is the most worthy king Westeros has ever seen, as throne supposedly cuts those who are unworthy of it, but he can just chill out there! /s
I was picturing it being more like the movie Hereditary. Aemond didn't actually tell anyone what happened. He would just wait for them to find Luke's head by a telephone pole.
She's had three shattering losses in such rapid succession; her father, her daughter- & now her son - & she's had each loss compounded by the others precisely _because_ she's not had time to grieve, because she was *forced* to pay attention to the political loss first (the usurpation of the throne), over the personal- the loss of her father & baby...
As someone with autism I found Helaena's reaction to Blood & Cheese FASCINATING bc all of her actions - the lost facial expressions, the withdrawing into herself, the matter of fact delivery (all things that for a neurotypical person would signal detachment or apathy) - all those are classic signs of Alexithymia, a common autistic trait where those with it experience a difficulty or find it impossible to identify and express their own emotions, and I think why the scene felt relatively muted in comparison to F&B is partially as a result of that. I'm conflicted as to whether this detracted from how emotionally harrowing and impactful this scene could have been (and of course this scene was going to be neutered to some degree) but I find the decision to play it the way they did extremely layered and complicated, and highlights certain autistic traits that are rarely if ever portrayed with any kind of authenticity. I still have my problems with it, it's not perfect, but I'm really glad that they played it in this way, if only for the sheer balls of the showrunners to take it in the direction that they did
agreed hopefully there’s still hope to show cristan as a smart agitator like i took it as instead of doing his duty to guard the halls he instead seduced alicent again i hope this gets brought up cause that was my major problem with the scene was no guards and the capture was way to easy like i don’t get the floor plan lol the idea she choose the boy bonded with ageon to prevent him from becoming king and dying later while saving her daughter from trama was touching and her telling alicent the boy was dead after seeing cole betray his duties must have been further shock leading alicent to change the story making it more brutal and leave halena to be mute and wither more mentally
This was what actually tipped it for me, in terms of really liking how the showrunners adapted the source material - because I was also on the fence about it for a while. The way it went down in the book felt emblematic, like the Red Wedding was for GOT. But, there was clearly so much more done with Helaena's character, and enough effort put into the rewrite, that it ended up being pretty incredible. It shifted the mood from maniacal and visceral horror to tense and haunting terror, and so it felt less like watching the Red Wedding and more like hearing the testimony of someone that narrowly survived a massacre. Watching Helaena shut down, then go into survival mode, I don't think I properly exhaled until she got to Alicent's room.
Okay, as an embroidery junkie, (it's really relaxing, ask Sansa!), now I can't wait until the end of the season, just to see the finished version of the opening tapestry, so I can make a fully accurate copy, because I can! (The best reason to do anything, of course.)

I would have loved that. Show the discomfort and horror on Jon’s face as he realizes “holy shit, I’m a Targaryen.” Considering the last famous Targ was the mad king, I feel that would be an appropriate reaction. You could shoot the series that Regael behaves less like Drogon and more like Jon, to show he’s bonded to him. Why D and D, why not do this?
naah even if he started just right after the episode aired it would take days. From my experience in editng a bit similar videos, I'd say for an avarage human a 30 min Glidus's blisstake would take maybe 50h to record and edit. but with Glidus's autistic precision, it's probably three times that
Aegon is the perfect king! He's chaste, despite the serving girls throwing themselves at him. And when he was Prince, he took it upon himself to investigate the abuse of children in the fighting pits. What a great guy!
1:07:24 Maelor is in the show, Haelaena was carrying him around in Ep.9 last season while the twins were playing on the ground infront of her. He was probably just in another room since he looked to be 2 or 3.

He was the "spare" heir to Winterfell. Like half of the kids(speaking of Robb) in the historical era this was based on, died before age five. Even with this, it doesn't make sense.
The tapestry is also a reference to the bayeux tapestry. The most famous tapestry that depicts the history of the Norman conquest of England led by William the Conqueror. A massive inspiration for GRRM.
I do like Helaena's supremely autistic reaction the second Blood and Cheese get their hands off her. She just immediately grabs Jaehaera and just silently runs away to whatever location she thinks is safe. It's simultaneously smart and stupid because she is both taking initiative and fleeing instead of freezing but also isn't calling for help or making noise of any kind. It just fits so well with the neurodivergent thought process and props to Phia for the performance.
@@zehsackett6132 @Lin_Eileen The war is unnecessary, but what does that have to do with his decisions? Paying the smiths is reasonable, but makes clear Aegon doesn't intend to avoid war. He assumes that he can destroy the blockade easily so he refuses to make backup plans for the case when it sticks around. Giving the sheep back can't even be seen as a savvy PR decision, as Aegon hadn't even considered that the people would hear about it. He's making policy decisions based on vibes and ego
When Cregan pledged the old warriors to Rhaenyra, I immediately imagined the actor who plays Greatjon being among them as a cameo and I instantly wanted it. Like a way to honor the excellent side-characters from GoT, they could show up again.
Glimbus uploads? It’s a one hour video? On the day the episode it’s about drops??? Clearly I’ve stepped into some variant timeline where Tyrek Lannister is not a horse.
04:12 - I think this scene in the tapestry represents the experiments of the Valyrians and the creation of the first chimeras as well as the practice of fire and blood magic. Also a nod to Aegon's dagger. Remember: The Targaryens (as are all other dragon rider families) are the blood of the Dragon and often, give birth to lizard like babies. These are the origins of their power. At 04:45, it seems, we can see Daenys the Dreamer. She's asleep while her "inner eye" is awake, visioning the Doom of Valyria.
The dragon with the human head i thought to be a representation of Valyria Both the people and nation Dragon and human together A handsome face but a beast underneath
56:26 Glidus, I think you're probably right on the mark here. It feels like a very deliberate callback to the cut away from Daemon's toast in episode one of the first season, the infamous "heir for a day" line.
Although jace has been kinda backpacking, you can actually tell that time has passed by as he left for the north before his bro died, a few days passed after his brother died because rhaenerys hasnt been around for a few days, and he only arrives back after his moms back. Still, vermax must be super fast for him to fly the entire continent and back in like a week but its still better than varys and his ship backpack
I think it's been longer than a week. The Greens talk about Viserys death as if it happened weeks ago and mention they've sent multiple ravens to Dragonstone which have not been answered (which would only be significant if some time has passed). Daemon and Rhaenys also talk about the news arriving as something which happened in the past and Rhaenyra has clearly been gone from the castle for days (consider also that it would have taken time for that news to reach her). The smallfolk talk about rising prices due to the blockade, which Corlys suggested doing in 1.10 and would have taken time to be set up and to start affecting the economy. Finally, Hugh mentions that scorpions take weeks to build and we see men manning at least one on the castle wall. So, all the clues suggest that at least a couple weeks have passed...enough time that I think it's reasonable for Jace to make his circuit so long as he didn't stay too long in either place.
Imagine you're George and you are seeing the intro sequence depicting your epic fantasy in such a visually pleasing way. Noone could ever convince me I wasn't the coolest person ever
Am I insane or does Larys have something to do with Blood and Cheese. The maid ( who are now all Larys cronies ) saw Blood and said nothing. Under normal circumstances you'd expect her to raise alarm. Larys having a part to play would also explain why Maegor's holdfast (which is supposed to be impenetrable) was so empty. Larys isn't happy with Alicent and he surely knows which members of the household staff and gold cloaks, aren't loyal. Perhaps I'm reading too much into that scene , but why else put it there ?
agreed hopefully there’s still hope to show cristan as a smart agitator like i took it as instead of doing his duty to guard the halls he instead seduced alicent again i hope this gets brought up cause that was my major problem with the scene was no guards and the capture was way to easy like i don’t get the floor plan lol the idea she choose the boy bonded with ageon to prevent him from becoming king and dying later while saving her daughter from trama was touching and her telling alicent the boy was dead after seeing cole betray his duties must have been further shock leading alicent to change the story making it more brutal and leave halena to be mute and wither more mentally
A LOT of book readers think Larys is Cheese. His name rhymes with Varys, he knows the secret passage and Varys moonlights as a jailer in the main series. In the real world, there's no effing way Larys could be Cheese and not be recognized, a club foot is a birth defect so he couldn't fake it (he'd had to fake it from the day he was born) or hide it. But in GRRM's world, where Varys can transform into Rugen and nobody recognizes him, it's absolutely possible.
Cregan says that his father (Rickon) took Jaehaerys and Alysanne to the Wall, but it was actually Alaric Stark who did that. We don't know the exact relation between Alaric and Cregan but I guess he'd likely be Cregan's great great grandfather. So they broke the lore a bit

He actually got a pretty funny end. In the second episode when all the rat catchers are hanged the dog sits in front of the guy that kicked him and just looks at him lol
Helaena walking in on her mom and sir crispin isnt irrelevant, in an interview crostini's actor says he was supposed to be guarding the door to the nursery or something like that, so by him being there with alicent hes partially responsible for the dead child

i love how this show indirectly shits on what they ruined about game of thrones multiple times, the entire prophecy, the dragons not being able to cross the wall, etc.
I really enjoyed how they reverted back to showing how long it takes to traverse the continent. Jacaerys Velaryon ages dramatically just on the journey from Dragonstone to the Wall.
How long realistically do you think it would take a dragon to fly from kings landing to the north. Can't be any longer than a week though admittedly he had stops along the way and I'm sure he stuck around his small stops for a few days at a time at the minimum
@collincaperton6718 it's roughly 1500 miles from King's Landing to Winterfell. I've seen estimate of dragon speed at between 60mph to 200mph. Let's settle on 100mph for an easier estimate. Accepting that a Dragon + rider would need to stop for food, rest and toilet breaks (for the sake of those living in the Seven Kingdoms I truly hope dragons don't relieve themselves mid-flight), and that safe driving advocates say rest is required every two hours (half an hour rest should suffice), a journey to Winterfell should take 15 hours flight plus 6.5 hours rest time. Add in an eight hour sleep half-way through, it would theoretically take no more than 30 hours to traverse the distance on dragonback. To Castle Black an additional six hours flight plus hour of rest would be needed. I believe there was also a stop at the Eyrie and another at White Harbour to treat with Lord Manderly, so the route is not exactly a straight line.
@lindenshepherd6085 I would imagine there's a whole host of issues they'd need to address. The riders must get so cold up there, the air would be thinner, maybe that 100mph estimate is too high, cos a human surely can't do that for an extended period of time. Eyes would be dried out and sore. Ears would hurt. Strapped into position for hours at a time. Whole body would be broken after one day 🤣
To touch on your talk of the scorpions working against dragons, it's established that dragon skin is too tough to penetrate and Meraxes was hit with a lucky shot in the eye. S8 scorpions received a huge damage buff.
@@bender5271 To be fair show Larys is probably the most cartoonishly evil character in the show and having Aegon watch his possible kids in child fighting pits was too. I do feel like they are tending towards making the greens generally more evil.
I absolutely loved the "headbump/nuzzle" thing Damon and Rey do upon her return to Dragon Stone. It's very animalistic like something you'd see Buffalo or Ox's doing to show affection 😍
Not me staring at pngs of cheese assuming I missed some crucial joke, but of course I shouldn't have assumed linear time in joke progression and should have known the clue would be revealed halfway through the video.
One of my favorite details of Helaena's escape is that it's essentially the same path Raenyra took after she birthed Joffrey. So, the lack of guards during the Blood and Cheese sequence seems to be intentional. They've made a point in these first two episodes to show how the servants of the Black and the Green act in comparison to each other. We see Raenyra show concern and protectiveness towards her handmaiden, and the Kingsguard are very vigilant and protective of her in return. The Greens' servants and guards don't seem to give a shit about the family, and aside from Helaena, not a single Green pays them any mind. Cole is incredibly irrisponsible, e see a maid pass by Blood and Cheese acting all sus and not even make note of them, and Aegon's Kingsgiard are dismissed and later replaced with his friends, who have a complete lack of attentiveness and vigilance. Also, Aegon's first public appearance would absolutely be me "ᵤₘₘ hello, I am the new king, I will try to help, oh, you need sheepies, okay I think I can handle that, I can get you new sheepies, ᵒʰ ⁿᵒ ᴼᵗᵗᵒ ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ᵗᵉˡˡ ᵐᵉ ᵗᵒ ˢᵃʸ ⁿᵒ, look at his face he's so sad, but Gramps is scary, **quietly starts stimming** please just let me say yes to everyone so this line can disperse, oh god I had to interact with three people today, that's three more than I'm used to-
I do hope we get some more of the North before the Winter Wolves ride south, this snippet felt very perfunctory. The moment that Cheese groks Helaena is weirdly beautiful in humanising both of them before he does The Thing.
19:00 I have a feeling in lore Baelor The Blessed cut it down because of his zealoutry, similar to him having that fun bonfire with the books on dragons and anything else magical.
That makes more sense, but I’m sure it’ll burn in this show. They establish something just so it can be lost to make the Dance feel more tragic. Like the prophecy I reckon.
I think I entirely misinterpreted the scene where Aegon was checking for Jahaerys, but on first watch I thought that maybe the servant's caution was directed at Helaena (at least in part) due to her comment about 'being surrounded by rats' or something to that effect. I took this to mean that Helaena is suspicious of the servants--possibly due to her dreamer thing--who may be working for Larys? The servants' fear of Aegon makes so much more sense as an interpretation, but I thought it might be interesting enough to share :D

In all, I found the entire scene to be less heartbreaking and more butt-clenchingly terrifying.

Thanks for doing the math! Do you think they insulate dragon riding helmets so their riders don’t lose hearing?

Also, Aegon's first public appearance would absolutely be me "ᵤₘₘ hello, I am the new king, I will try to help, oh, you need sheepies, okay I think I can handle that, I can get you new sheepies, ᵒʰ ⁿᵒ ᴼᵗᵗᵒ ᵖˡᵉᵃˢᵉ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ᵗᵉˡˡ ᵐᵉ ᵗᵒ ˢᵃʸ ⁿᵒ, look at his face he's so sad, but Gramps is scary, **quietly starts stimming** please just let me say yes to everyone so this line can disperse, oh god I had to interact with three people today, that's three more than I'm used to-
I adore how much yall have fun with this. Yall seem likebest friends, its precious
I do hope we get some more of the North before the Winter Wolves ride south, this snippet felt very perfunctory.
The moment that Cheese groks Helaena is weirdly beautiful in humanising both of them before he does The Thing.
FYI in England we call wheat corn, especially if you're a farmer. So if someone in asoiaf is referencing corn they might mean wheat.
i fkn knew it
19:00 I have a feeling in lore Baelor The Blessed cut it down because of his zealoutry, similar to him having that fun bonfire with the books on dragons and anything else magical.
"I'm gonna send two random guys and a dog to kill the most dangerous guy in the seven kingdoms. I'll bet that'll work!" - Daemon, apparently
Yes he totally expected that. Do not read into what anyone says or does beyond a surface level. That's what you do with media.
@@alphasword5541 Fair point
To be fair, one of those guys wasn't random, it was a guy who knew very well how to move inside the keep without anyone noticing lol
@@LuzikArbuzik77and he was partnered with a litteral strength build of a dude they had stealth/suprise and just physical superiority to their advantage realistically they could take down aemond assuming he doesn't get his edge lord armor
