As a Swedish person myself, I personally think that our restrictions for naming your child “Brtyajfkl” for example are pretty good to make sure that the kid doesn’t have to go through with some sort of bullying because of their name literally being “Frtug.”

@@axelnils True but I can't imagine just not having a legal name just in case I got sick or entered a kindergarten from the ages of 0-5. I understand other countries not giving names until people are older but come on this is Sweden they should at least allow for them to get named after someone from Royalty I mean how many names can there be in Swedish that hasn't been used by the elite.

The Swedish name laws aren't that restrictive. We had one guy very recently named: "RICHARD Leif Sonny Knugen Pistolero Aik Terror Freakshow Ninja". And yes, the allcaps is intentional.
Source: I work for the tax agency. I had to deal with this guy constantly triggering alarms in our systems because his name made the string "error" appear in the logs. Luckily he later decided to change his name to something normal.
LOL
Fun Fact: while Sweden has pretty tough rules about changing your last name, you can legally change it to the same type of last name the Icelandic system uses. As long as you can prove that it's your parent, you can add the -son or -dotter to their name and have that be your last name. Back in the day, it was the standard way of naming in most of the nordics.
Definitely Scandinavian, but the Finn’s are so… different that I am sure they traditionally did it a different, mumin, way.

As a person from Sweden, I can confirm that we have very strict laws on which names you can use
but here is the thing, people with those banned names can move into the country, do they have to change it, or does Sweden just accept it.

I feel we need some of the Swedish name laws here in the USA. There are too many parents who name their kids stupid things. My mom keeps on telling a story of a friend she has who worked at a school. She had a student with the name "Le-ah". She originally thought it was pronounced "LEE-AH", but the poor kid's parents were quick to correct her that it was pronounced "LEH-DASH-AH". Some parents clearly need restrictions to prevent them from naming their children with emojis. I seriously have to wonder what is going on in the heads of those types of people.

@Antony Ruiz Ads don't make the internet free. $40+ a month, usually minimum. The net isn't free, period. UA-cam isn't free. On the rare occasion that I have to watch youtube with no adblocker, I spend more time dealing with bullshit picture and video ads before during and ending the video than I do actually WATCHING the video. Watching ads is payment. Being FORCED to watch a barrage of ads on the main pages and during the video is most definitely payment. And now on top of youtube ads before during and ending the video, we have actual advertisment breaks made by the content creators before during and/or ending the videos. On my PC, no ads other than content creator's ads (which I have no issue with). On my PS3? a 2 minute video will have AT LEAST a 1 minute ad before and a 1 minute ad after. a 30 minute vid will have a 1+ minute commercial every 4 minutes. It's fucking obnoxious is what it is. In the Philippines someone named their child with numbers. Look it up.
Oh look, it's 54LLY! What a great friend!
"What happens when we run out of usernames?"
- Vsauce.
4:10 ah okay, that guy
I agree with The Animator. “Prohibited From Existing” is a cool band name!
Mother:*gives birth*

Your Neighbour going to name my son ycycycyvuvuvhchcjfdahdjgujydjfjvigydi
I've read that New Zealand or some other country banned names that had special characters. As well as names that were like V8 and Princess Leia. I guess a lot parents really liked their V8s and Princess Leia
But this is starting to sound more like an Australian thing. Parenting at its finest with naming your children
Interesting, and I thought my family's tradition of using your middle name as your child's first and giving them the first name as the middle was odd.
Naming a video game character in Sweden:
Hmmm 🤔 *smacks head on keyboard a few times*
Brfxxccxxmnpcdcclllmmnprxvckmnckssqlbb11116
Perfect~!
Cops: *bursts through the door*
ooooooh im h=gonna name my minecrafter that
Robert Howard hope the keyboard is ok
With the slight difference that swedish cops are too busy giving speeding tickets to burst through any doors. Not because they’re incompetent, but because it is simply more profitable. Similar to how the US essentially profits off of housing prisoners in their prisons. Whatever floats your boat i guess.
Damn and I thought XAE-A12 was weird...
Yeah, Sweden might have the right idea when the part where things aren't names can't be names. I've seen so many stupid names like whatever the hell Musk named his child.
*Æ
Elon Musk's kid's name sound kinda like something you'd name a cyborg
XÆ-A12*
There are so many countries and cultures where last names / family names are different to what you consider normal, and in some it's not even a thing. Take Indonesia for example, where most dont even have a last name or family name.
Many older people even only have a single word name. I know a guy who had to repeat his single word name to fit into the international pasport standard of firstname-lastname format.
Also nobody changed their name on marriage.
I've heard of stories of Indonesian families (Husband-Wife and kids) having to wait way longer on immigration desks at european countries. The immigration officers are trained to spot child trafficking by looking at family names, while Indonesian families rarely have the same name.
Recently in Lithuania people tried naming their kids as Velnias (means devil in lithuanian), Vaikas (child) and Abc
Imagine being named that and having to write your name on your test
It's the hardest question either way
Oh
You’ll write Albin
“agh fuck, how do i spell it again”
Greg Nolen the test is not the test the test is yo name
if someone was called Jackson in Iceland, his son would be Jacksonson and that just amuses me too much.
No, his son would be called
Allan Richardson I meant of someone's first name was Jackson...
Skyla Helbig Oh, that’s a different kind of paint stained drop cloth full of fish (as in Jackson Pollock)!
better yet if Jacksonson had a son.. oh dear. is that a running gag over there? hehe
Harley Me Jacksonsonson lol
1:53 Why that family couldn't name its child as simply "Albin", both pronounced and spelled like that?
Did you watch the video?
i dunno why it made me laugh so much that the name just went off the screen
Video: You can’t have special characters in names
Jumps into sponsor without us knowing
i thought that was part of the video at first
Well that was unexpected
That was probably the best transition i have ever seen so far, well played
YOU ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD
Exactly
Damn the dad smashed his face on a keyboard for his child's name
Mechros lmao
the real story is that the baby smashed its head in the keyboard and the dad was all like "aww his first word, i'll name him that"
XD so true
2:16 im a finnish person and i totally agree that almost all nordic langues are total gibberish (including finnish)
Was the mention of brilliant a sponsorship
so if i add another number it will be legal?
TomK Gaming probably if that dosent work try adding a Xx at the beginning and a xX at the end or add an underscore.
JDN Vlogs Sorry you can't do that there is a limit for only one special symbol.
Aww man
He literally explained why it wasn't

"Really. Well, i'm from Uticah, and i've never heard anyone use the phrase *Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116*
"It's an Albin expression"
"Ah, I see."
SteAMeD haMs
Brfxxccxmnpcccclllmmnprxclmnckssqlbb11116 can’t be said as Albin
@@lingfengliu909 It's because Albin sounds like Albany
its utica
You know, these hamburgers taste quite similar to the ones they serve at Krusty Burger.
I wonder what thought process resulted in headsmashing several keyboard being pronounced as Albin.
Imagine how annoying it would’ve been for that kid who is supposedly named Albin to you write his original name and how much he would’ve been made fun of
4:16 welp .. that was a smooth Ad transition haha
I was thinking the same thing haha
I was gonna say that... xD
