When I was 7 years old my parents locked me in a car's trunk for 24 hours for spilling milk on the carpet. The scariest thing I've ever experienced, it was dark, my legs were cramping, boiling hot during the day, freezing at night, no matter how much I screamed and cried for help no one came, minutes felt like hours. I still have nightmares. I'll never do that to my kids.
darkhuman 015 fuck you! I don't have to explain every fucking detail just to have a nobody online believe me. If you ever suffer PTSD you would know that's not how you talk to someone with it.
charlieme5150 How did you survive though? I was put in a car boot for a bit but when closed it got incredibly suffocating very quickly. I don't think you could survive there? I'm not trying to bash on you btw
My parents just communicated with me, had reasonable expectations and a healthy relationship. I have never been grounded and when I stayed out past my curfew my mom agreed that it was too early and just extended it. They trusted me and I rewarded their trust by being a good kid. Not that hard.
You have good parents. Its a lot harder for other peoples parents to understand these things, though. Its a lot harder than you think. Everything depends on your situation.
@@Flair258 I did, I had wonderful parents for the most part. But that in no way means I don't understand the difficulties because I experienced them as well albeit differently
My mom had removed the door from my room on a few occasions when I was younger in order to catch what I was doing on the computer so much. She hadn't realized that chasing away all my local friends over superficial bs is why I was on my computer a lot. I had no one else to talk to and very few kids at school shared my interests. Which mostly revolved around drawing and to hell if I was going to be at school earlier or stay longer than I should have for a damn club. I was just on deviantart and a few other art community websites. Big whoop. So I just rearranged my room where my desk was in the corner but I'd always be facing the doorway so I could click out of what I was doing or temporarily move onto something else whenever I saw her coming down the hall in my peripheral vision. I saw her taking my door and raised it with some feng shui. Having a helicopter parent was a nightmare.
to be fair to the parents that do this, this is an effective punishment, taking away your kid's privacy is something that they don't know they can lose, and it's pretty effective in my mind, but it's just that, a punishment. it isn't something to be done willy nilly like the mom of the person above. in my opinion, privacy is an important thing to have growing up, since the absence of it can lead to some pretty deep emotional scarring, and even outbursts at an earlier age than the expected teenage years. and yes, some children will just go to other places to seek out their privacy. the correct answer to this problem is to encourage your child to freely share their thoughts and hobbies, not force them. make sure they understand that it's okay to keep secrets, even from you, but also let them know that you're ready to listen to them when they do want to tell you something. also, don't punish your kid because "that's how my parents did it." the main goal of ANY parent is to help the kid grow up to be a better person than you were, not the same.
Flammen91 I didn't even have a door for my room, my bedroom was attached to the kitchen and my brothers room. My bed was the first thing you'd see when you look in the doorway.
My door is usually open, and when it’s not they walk quietly and then open my door lightening fast and before I can leave the app they ask about what I’m watching. Ha they’re not helicopter parents at all though
@@feesh6349 Because they feed us and they give us shelter and of course they are stronger than us. I sometimes think why in the world parents exist why can't it be like animals they would keep us till12 or something and then we go free.
Punishments that most parents give their children: Young Child: The belt Teenager: They will probably take your phone or something else that is important to you Adult: A long conversation about why they are disappointed in you Senior citizen: Their souls will haunt you until you die
Parents will punish you for hiding the truth or lying, then say if you're just honest with them, you won't be in trouble. Then, you're honest with them, and the punishment is the same.
That Was What I Explained To My Parents And They Didn't Get What Was Wrong And Still Tell Me And My Siblings To Be Honest And We Still Get In Trouble, Same Goes For When They Say Something Along The Lines Of *Explain How You Feel* Or *Explain What We Are Doing To Make You Feel That Way* But We Won't Because We Know How They Will React.
Also Has Anyone Got The Talk Of "Don't Hit Or Be Mean To Your Sibling Because They Are Just Having Fun And You're Way Older, And You Should Know Better" Or "They Don't Know Any Better About What They Are Doing" But They Proceeded To Beat The Life Out Of The Youngest Child Just For Playing Or Annoying Them When To Get Attention When The Parents Say Stop, But WE OLDER KIDS Should Know Better?
Some of the best parenting advice I've ever heard: never discipline your child when you are angry. A calm, rational parent is unlikely to carry out too drastic a punishment
Child misbehaves.. Frustrated dad: "That does it! Go into the living room and assume the position." Child: "Dad, NO! Not THAT; it's child abuse!" Dad: "Yes that. Do as you're told, get in there now!" Child goes into lounge and 'assumes position' - sits on sofa in front of TV. Dad puts DVD in player and makes child watch The Last Jedi from opening crawl to end credits. Almost three everlasting hours later: Child: "I'm very sorry, Dad; I won't do it again." Dad: "See that you don't; or next time, you get the making of feature afterwards." Child: "DAD!!! Are you the devil?"
If a kid gets bad grades they shouldn’t be punished for it unless they’re messing about To prove that the kid is or isn’t messing about talk to the teacher to see what they say.
I remember getting grounded and spanked a lot when I was a kid but I do also remember my step dad, until I got taken away from social services, would also use military training exercises on me and would sometimes have me sit in the corner with my hands under my knees. He never did it with the my other three siblings, just me since he didn't know how else to deal with me having autism and having troubles speaking until I was 11
Every Parent: I will take his phone and stuff away Force him to do what they dont like So they get happiness Parents then:why are they still depressed?
Correction*: Every parent: "I will take everything that makes him happy away from him and force him to do what he doesn't like. Maybe then he'll be happy."
My mom and stepdad spanked me, beat me, spit in my face, berated me, put me down, and destroyed my self-esteem. I remember a time when I was 5 or 6, my stepdad came home drunk and started screaming and hitting my mom and I was locked in my room crying and I put my fingers under the door trying my best to help my mom. My stepdad flung the door open hitting me in the head and beat me to the point where I had a severe asthma attack due to the stress and anxiety and had to go to the hospital. The doctors and nurses saw the fresh bruises on me and immediately knew it was my stepdad and called the police. He was arrested at the hospital for domestic child abuse and spent 18 months in jail. Yet my spineless mother still got back with him & the abuse continued to the point that my grandparents legally adopted me and saved my life. I'm still traumatized by his abuse and have nightmares about it. When I bring it to my mom (who is *STILL* with that abusive asshole) They play it off and say I was the problem and make me feel guilty and shameful for their actions. I was raised my serious Narcissists. My biological father committed suicide when I was 2 years old.

I got the belt, was grounded, mouth washed out with soap. House arrest for a month; longest was 4 months. My grandmother was extremely strict. My grandmother threw away my stuff as well if I didn't 'put my stuff away' - so, yes. I can relate to these when I was younger. Thank goodness I am 38 and can't be grounded anymore. lol
One day I took my clothes off the line, they weren't cold, wet or anything, as usual my parents don't think I can do anything right or that I'm stupid or something, they think I can't tell the difference between dry or wet when I'm dealing with my washed clothing, I put the clothes in my bedroom or drawer, my Grandma asked me harshly “why are those clothes in there, why do you have those? " I simply said because they're mine Pushed me harshly into the bedroom door, I was fearful and angry Why'd you do that,I asked? APPARENTLY, SAYING THE CLOTHES ARE MINE IS SOMEHOW *RUDE* ...
How is it that whenever parents do something bad, everything's perfectly fine, but whenever their kid does something bad, it's suddenly the end of the world
When i was younger, my stepdad's brother warned me that putting my hand on a hot stove is punishment for lying. and he almost burnt me with his lighter when i was 7 or probably 6. Thankfully he's in jail when i was 12 because he stoled my mom's car. This is why i can only ground my child (when i get married not right now because i'm only 16) for 2 minutes, rather than two weeks because of these horrible punishments i've seen happened to other people. traumatizing.
when my grandfather was a kid, if he and his siblings misbehaved, his mother would make them go in the woods to find a stick to beat them with. very messed up.
3:54 no privacy is so relatable to me because i cant close my door except for online school, nobody knocks except for my dad, and everyone else barges in which is super annoying and gives me daily heart attacks more than once in 24 hours. so i spend my only privacy in the bathroom
Ok I'm not exactly the same but I have similar issue. Most people thinks getting jump scared is funny, but to me it's not. I constantly worried I'm going to get scared, and it freaks me out even when I know it's coming
Oh i fixed that problem i just downloaded jumpscares on every device i had eehheehehhe my mom nearly had a heart attack hehehehehe and after that they never entered my room ever again (i made sure of that) :>
I'm surprised that there wasn't a parent that said to have given their kid hot sauce as punishment. If mine ever did it wouldn't work on me because I like hot sauce!
Hard to believe a parent washed their mouth out with soap? This was common practice in my family, all my siblings and cousins. And the spanking/hitting with objects or a belt? All the time. Eventually my parents and aunts and uncles got wise and realized it’s totally unethical and made us fear them, not respect them or learn from our mistakes.
I say the parents that shaved their daughter’s head for bad grades was the most inhumane punishment on this list. For bad grades that was definitely going too far.
I was never grounded but my father used to publicly humiliate me, not as punishment but as a general day to day habit. He’d talk to and treat me like I was a toddler while we were out in public, into my puberty years and beyond.
Ruby Vlogs If the parents are NOT 18 and up, there are other reasons they should go to therapy for. 😆 ...On a more serious note, the younger the child, the worse is the damage. So giving parenting lessons to those with kids over 18 won’t repair what’s already broken.
RandomGaming YT If I’d spit people in the face “as a lesson” it’d sting even less. But it would be wrong anyway. “Punishment” is authority figures’ excuse to be an asshole. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Your parents might be good people in other aspects for all I know, but spanking is damaging you psychologically in the long run. It normalizes violence and revenge against the defenseless ones.
RandomGaming YT See, the commenter before me also thinks that retribution is justified if someone is provoked. When you’re provoked, violence should be only used as a last resort, and only in self defense (or defending others).
@@NariPlaza Well, I am not saying they are bad I am just saying that some of then your flip flops, brooms and even devices (phones, i-pads, laptops etc...)
I was almost belted, but my brother saved me. I wasn't doing anything wrong. My brother and sister did some shit, and I got blamed for it along with them. Before I was hit, my bro told my dad "No, mom says he's too young to be hit with a belt" and my dad said Ok. I was 3 or 4. Not in school yet.
I would say that’s not entirely true naughty children can come from really loving parents who do everything right. Sometimes kids are just bad people are people they aren’t perfect and some are just rotten. I’m lucky I raised 4 kids who are very different but are all well adjusted and successful. I was firm fair and yet I made mistakes like any other parent. Do your best set the rules be a good example and follow through that is all you can do and you hope for the best.
@@peterpatriotpal yea well it’s partly luck because children become bad from external stimuli but how you deal with the misdemeanours is what affects the chance that they stay bad.

I wish I could put mine what I went through. I think they meant well but I was always in trouble at school either bad grades, forgotten homework, or drawing in class. As an adult with a baby of my own, I was finally diagnosed with autism/ADHD. Oops.
Let me tell you all a story... Once there was middle school boy who a had a very bad temper. He would lash out at people all of time and answer rudely to his parents, teachers, and sometimes his own friends. His father was a wise man and knew that something had to be done. So he told his son how much he loved him, and lead him outside to a fence in the backyard. He then handed his son a jar of nails, and instructed him to hammer a nail into the fence every time he lost his temper. On the first day the boy hammered 37 nails and it took him quite some time. But day after day, the boy began to control his temper, and over the next few weeks the number of nails he was hammering into the fence slowly decreased. He eventually discovered that it was easier to control his rage than to hammer those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't loose his temper at all! He ran to show his father the fence. His father lovingly suggested to the boy that every day that he kept his temper he should now pull one nail out of the fence. So day after day, the boy kept his temper and removed one nail from the fence. After a few more weeks the job was done and every nail was removed. The father was so proud of his son and walked with out to the backyard. He hugged him, than looked into his eyes and said. "I love you so much my son and I'm so proud of what you had accomplished, but I want to show you something." He pointed toward the fence and continued. " Look at the holes now in the fence. It will never be the same again. Each time you treat someone rudely, say something in anger, or just flat out mean. They leave a hole or scar just like the ones in this fence. It's like stabbing someone with a knife and pulling it out. It hurts. It won't matter how many times you apologize to your friends or anyone else may forgive you, but the scars are still there. " The end... That brings me back to this video. Out of all the punishments mentioned in this video, which ones do you think were carried by loving wise parents or sadistic foolish parents?
Huh...See that? more ways to 'punish' a child than by lazily smacking them. At least this punishment taught the kid patience rather than him having to harbor resentment for being spanked
Simply a story with flaws. In most cases if someone especially a young someone has tempor problems they also have an obedience problem and when is told to hammer the nails into the fence the kid would simply just not do it... Whats the next step after that spanking, grounding, taking stuff away from them? But oh no no no those are all bad punishments. So what next send them to a boot camp where they just get yelled at for doing something wrong? Thats a form of mental abuse which is also wrong. So tell me, in this perfect world of yours what is one to do?
What kind of punishment from your parents was most effective when you did something they didn't like?

When I was 7 years old my parents locked me in a car's trunk for 24 hours for spilling milk on the carpet. The scariest thing I've ever experienced, it was dark, my legs were cramping, boiling hot during the day, freezing at night, no matter how much I screamed and cried for help no one came, minutes felt like hours. I still have nightmares. I'll never do that to my kids.
So your not mentally insane? Don't believe you!

Ruby Vlogs If the parents are NOT 18 and up, there are other reasons they should go to therapy for. 😆
...On a more serious note, the younger the child, the worse is the damage. So giving parenting lessons to those with kids over 18 won’t repair what’s already broken.

Your parents might be good people in other aspects for all I know, but spanking is damaging you psychologically in the long run. It normalizes violence and revenge against the defenseless ones.

I was actually grounded for one year whenever I was 10 years old from making a Molotov cocktail that my friend told me about in a movie and I had no idea that it was an illegal thing to possess or make LOL. To top it all off my birthday present that year was a letter with handcuffs unlocked on it saying that I'm no longer grounded yay. That's it no gifts LOL
D E S E R V E I T
Do you mean “illegal”

To be fair tho if u had a molotov cocktail u could have just uhm burned down ur whole hse?
The screen:
Kid: "@&%# this!"
Mom: "Not in my house young man!!!"
Me: _ah, but he’s in the yard, not the house hehe_
I heard about a kid whose mom made her stand against the wall with their heels up. They pinned nails on the floor and had the kid put her heel on the nail.
Another story a mom calls someone to kidnap her child. The kidnapper takes the child to another country and the mom never saw her child since.
Bad right
The second mom is nuts!!!
the second mum should be locked up or executed
My mom hits me but that’s way too far
Both moms are bonkers wtf!!!
Especially the 2nd one
We don't need parents to ground us, that is COVID 19's job!
you got it perfect!!!
Joke on COVID 19, I’m not gonna

Kids are the only people you are allowed to hit. Not even your dog man, just kids
@@theblackrose3583 YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HIT KIDS!
Sackboy you can “spank them” If you spanked the dog as hard as people can legally spank their kids, and with a belt at that... the police would be called. You would be in trouble for animal abuse
@@theblackrose3583 *People, as in, parents, uncles, grandparents, etc., are not allowed to hit kids or anyome for whatever reason. If you want to treat others badly they will treat you badly. Even if they don't do it now they will get tired of your shit and will do it to protect themselves*
How do you think the parents would feel if you got revenge on them by doing something worse to them or doing the exact same thing they did to you?

The end...
That father is a genius. The kid learned his lesson with no harm done
Now that's how to do a punishment!
ToaHannah007 This is the most inspirational thing I have ever read. Period.
