    About this video:
In this detailed guide, we discuss the best times and techniques for barramundi fishing, a beloved sport in Queensland, Australia. Starting with the lifecycle of barramundi, I explain the significance of the barramundi fishing closure period in Queensland, which runs from November to January to protect breeding females. However, don’t let that deter you-there are still fantastic fishing opportunities during this period in the Northern Territory and freshwater impoundments.
    We'll cover:
Fishing During the Closure: Learn how you can still enjoy barramundi fishing during the closure period by heading to the Northern Territory or targeting freshwater impoundments.
Lifecycle and Migration: Understand the lifecycle of barramundi and how it influences their migration patterns, crucial for knowing when and where to fish.
Techniques and Strategies: Discover effective fishing techniques, such as targeting drains during the runoff season in the Northern Territory, where barramundi move from freshwater to saltwater.
Fishing in Freshwater Impoundments: Find out the best practices for fishing in Queensland's freshwater impoundments, especially during the warmer months and around full moon periods.
Lure Selection: Get tips on the best lures to use for catching barramundi and how to optimize your tackle for different conditions.
Sustainable Fishing Practices: Learn about proper catch and release methods to ensure the sustainability of barramundi populations.
Million Dollar Fish Competition: I also talk about the exciting Million Dollar Fish competition in the Northern Territory, which not only offers a chance to win big but also adds an extra thrill to your fishing adventures.
Whether you’re a seasoned angler or new to the sport, this video provides a comprehensive guide to maximizing your barramundi fishing experience. From understanding when to fish for barra to mastering the techniques needed to catch these magnificent fish, you'll find all the essential information you need to plan your next fishing trip.

Just found this channel. So good to see videos on how to catch Australian fish as there aren't many. Most fishing videos are from the states on bass fishing.

Hey Ryan just wondering do barra eat pilchards and gar, if yes could you troll with them for barramundi, can you troll mullet for barra. What gear do I have to use for live mullet. And lastly for Dead baits for Barramundi can you just cast it by structure and just let it sit there till the barra hits. Cheers

Hi Mate, I have never tried trolling gar or mullet, and I don't use dead bait so I can't really give advice on that one sorry. All the best and proven methods I use are in my signature course Barra Basics. I also have all the rigs and gear I use in my blog www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/tag/barra-fishing-tips/

@@Sam_Austin_fishing sorry We weren’t trying to be smart. The fish move around so spots depend on what they’re doing. Plus we have an impoundment Barra module in our Barra Basics course and it has many modules too extensive to explain here. Some free tips on the blog. www.Ryanmoodyfishing.com/blog

Thanks mate. It seems to be working OK on our end but we did use a different microphone set up (mono not stereo) and I wonder if that is effecting the sound for you. There should be some ways to turn up the volume both on your computer and also on the actual video. We will definitely look into it and thank-you for letting us know.
