just to add to my last comments.Roger, in this country, most guys go fish in surf with big ,big, sticks and try to hit you fella's on the head. you have opened my eyes to beach fishing with less than 14 foot sticks. now i carry less gear around.
I have a crook back and neck. I use a 9 or 8 foot rod on the beach with a long pipe. My end eye is still ten foot or so off the beach. But heaps less draining holding it or winding in big fish.
@@Alberthoward3right9up How far are you able to cast the 9 footer? I've got one recently and haven't been able to cast it far enough to make for good beach fishing. Not sure if it's my casting skill or the rod! Haha
@@kev8646 I use braid with a nylon leader. Also my nine footer has a solid tip. Those two things help greatly i think. Hi Roger Osborne. Can you please show us how to secure a bait crab onto a rig. I've heard of using small crabs for bait but never been shown how to use them correctly.
Break off a leg put the hook in the hole where the leg broke then thru the belly. And if you want extra security use the leg as a stopper. (Push the barb thru the leg shell and out the other side) gidos fishing adventures uses the for groper if you want a visual
Hi, I agree with Albert but I always remove the top shell of the crab to expose the flesh. I tend to use crabs whole, even larger ones because I want to catch big Groper

I’ve fished with my finger on the line for over forty years now. Unless I’m using lures of course, but live bait finger on the line. If I’m using a float. I use enough weight to give the float kind of a negative bouncy. So the fish doesn’t feel the weight until he takes the bait, and the float is extremely sensitive showing the tiniest touch. I use small sinker(s) about 12-18 inches above the bait, (I use triple and double bb split shot for this smallest above the bait then slightly larger about six inches apart towards the float) and a heavier weight 6-12 inches below the float to create that negative bouncy. I use a needle to put a tiny amount of an air bubble in the bait to get it above anything like weeds or mossy stuff on the bottom. Water pressure will make the air go out, and the deeper the quicker too. Happy trails!
