“I think excellent pilots... before touchdown” meanwhile landing literally was a touchdown with the left, bounce, touchdown with right, touchdown with left... mhmmm
That’s how pilots need to land in crosswinds, it’s called the crab method. Depending on where the crosswind is, they land facing into the crosswind first with 1 rear gear, then the second rear gear touches down, and lastly the nose touches down and they add rudder input. it helps them gain more control and prevents the crosswinds from completely shoving you off the runway. so yes, excellent pilots indeed for doing their job right!
Ever noticed that despite the ‘scary title’ it’s awlays ok? I’ve been a flight attendant for 20 years....can you just imagine the turbulence stories I could tell you? The point I’d rather make is that I’m still here....so please let’s not be scared of turbulence, it’s a part of flying, it’s normal, it’s been engineered for way beyond what us common folk can imagine!!!
Minor turbulence makes the passengers upset. Moderate turbulence makes the flight attendants upset. Severe turbulence makes the pilots upset. This video only makes the passengers upset.
Some of the roughest landings I’ve had were in London. I live in LA and so it’s always smooth here and other places it’s hit or miss, but London is always cloudy and has never been a smooth take off or landing for me.
I had a landing like this once on an Air France flight into CDG on an Airbus 319. It’s always unnerving when you see that wing dip right before touchdown. The hardest landing I ever had was into LGA on a Delta 757-300. The pilot set that one down very hard.
Here is the thing. A camera can never pick up how bad turbulence really is. You can't tell on camera that much. I know. I was on a bumpy ride that was so bumpy some of the oxygen mask fell out of the ceiling and I had video of it and it was so scary. we were thrown around like rag dolls BUT on the camera it looked like a peaceful, none bumpy ride.
Nice vide. No severe, occasional moderate. Check the descriptions of turbulence with the EASA or the FAA; "large and abrupt attitude changes", and "airplane momentarily out of control". The airplane's attitude was steady, with minor attitude variations. The trailing edge flaps seemed to fluctuate- they don't do that so I'm guessing it was due to window distortion of the image. Cheers
Before touchdown I was certain the throttles were gonna open seemed like a go around to me but those guys no what there doing and deserve that applause for getting down first go
No matter how often I travel by plane, fear is something I will never overcome. I've had great and smooth flights, and I've had not so minor events that even scared the pilots. Last year in Mexico city, there was a major storm while the plane was attempting to land and one of the pilots was trying to give us some information when the plane was suddenly hit by wind and he cut the message, then the lightning system started failing and I saw the crew running to get their seats and belts fastened. I usually calm myself watching them because they're the experts 🤣 if they're not worried, I try not to worry either... But they seemed scared and therefore I've never been so terrified in my life. that day we had 2 attempts before the successful one and it was awful. It was not easy to stop the plane with all the water and wind, the airport had closed while we were flying, and other flights got cancelled but we were already flying and we had nowhere else to go that had better conditions.
Thanks for sharing your experience.👍 I also like to fly but I have seen videos of air disasters. Behind a disaster is the concatenation of simple events. I sure 🙄don't want to try your experience 🤣
We had that exact same thing happen on a flight from Atlanta to fort lauderdale. We circled fort Lauderdale for hours because of storms and finally had to land because we were getting low on fuel. Very very bumpy landing in the middle of a thunderstorm.
Turbulence is increasing. They have got to stop the accursed chem trails or at least provide the public with a decent rationale for them. Well done, terrific BA captains and crews!
Hi! A research by the Department of Meteorology of the University of Reading sounded the alarm: thanks also to computer simulations, it is hypothesized that the number of turbulences in flight could triple by 2050-2080, above all in the areas where the corridors of the busiest routes.
I had a similar experience today on my flight from Palma to Dublin the first attempt we missed the runway and had to go around the second attempt the plane landed on its right wheels and then hard on the the front gear everone was terrified and the children were screaming in the end we taxid to the gate safely.
I remember when we were flying back from Florida four years ago, during winter break, and we went through major turbulence...and it was unlike anything we’ve ever imagined. I freaked out like anything but somehow managed to calm down by the time the plane became stable which was probably after like 3-5 minutes of constant shaking. It was so annoying but worth the effort to keep the strength. 💕
Hi Shirley - easier said than done, I know, but please try not to worry (unless the announcement is “brace brace brace”, in which case, sure, worry a bit). But if the pilot comes over the PA to say “ladies and gentlemen, we’re going to be going through a patch of rough air momentarily”, that means that the pilot is in communication with both the ground, and (via the ATC) with pilots in the airspace immediately ahead of you. The pilot ahead is relaying weather and turbulence to the ATC, who is advising your pilot, who’s advising you - that there’s a bit of gravel on the road up ahead, so it’ll be bumpy for a bit. Think of it like road tripping with friends and getting a call from your buddy telling you there’s a speed-trap a few km ahead that he just passed. As for turbulence - just ensure your seatbelt is securely fastened at all times during the flight, and you’ll be okay! Turbulence doesn’t hurt; hitting the ceiling sure does!
You think this is bad? I flew from Lanzarote to Exeter in Feb 2022, and we landed during Storm Franklin!!! It was truly terrifying, the worst ever. We all applauded when the plane touched down.
Severe turbulence? You should have been on our flight back to the world from Vietnam. We had just finished a meal about half an hour before landing in Tokyo. All if a sudden we fell out if the sky. Trays, people and all not secured hit the ceiling. That happened two or three times. That bird made it to SEATAC with no problems. I was the first off the plane and when I bottomed the stairs, I went to the ground and kissed it.
It wasn't bad at all. I have been to many very bad turbulence, specially going in and out of Japan, all the way to the Philippines. When I was pregnant, my flight to Japan was very bad, we dropped 1000 feet, it was very scary, every shouted.

Seems like the right wing was pretty close at the end from the runway, he had good reflex but it could have easily deserved a go around to be safe. He did a good hard touchdown at the end to make sure to avoid rebound so that’s the right thing to do when wind is against you.
That was an impressive dip of the left wing just before the right and then left landing gear slammed down. Qualifies as turbulent and I just know my wife would have fucking hated the flight. Haha
in severe turbulences you are not able to hold your camera, the pilots are not able to read their instruments. this is why one avoids severe turbulences. in the video are light turbulences shown.

Hi! It was a big fall.
Nice video, but very little turbulence.
From minute 10 it's evident strong crosswind. The pilot also talks about this.
What an idiot, you obviously don’t know what a crosswind is LOL
Why does this look like it was filmed in 1953?
I do not know. I filmed with my phone! At the time I had an Iphone but I don't remember the model.
Nice video 😊
