Love your giggle when you find ridiculousness, reminds me of the chefs kiss meme you used to do with Rueben 👌

Fair play, that "Myself" guy should get a raise with all that work you're making him do! 😂 Great video. I really appreciate the logical process you work through here. I'll try to save myself the heartache next time I feel tempted to jump head-first into a job!

Nice job John, someone had certainly made a mess of installing that.

I bought a house and found similar messy garden electrics. Slugs in junction boxes, regular twin and earth exposed to the elements, lamps full of water. I removed all the accessories back to the junction box (after replacing them) and manage to get >500m ohm IR somehow!

I'm with David Savory on garden lighting, for which he only uses 12VDC to avoid all the risks and degradation that can occur with mains systems.

i remember a certain time served spark making the same feck up on the roof lighting of an office block on canary wharf
the thing is with swa that small you can make it off with a tiny amount of bare strands anyway ,why did they feel the need to strip 3 inches lol

The white flex cable is not rated for being buried in the dirt . Or am i wrong? I never seen a white cable that is rated for being buried outside.

Nice one John, thank you. How often are you having to splash out on Megger leads, which aren't cheap........ or durable! Have you considered getting a Kewtech set instead?
Are you aware of the WISKA Shell Box? They're mini gel filled Wago connector box filled with gel so you don't have to fill the A.B. with gel. (I bet the amount you used got costly) They're IPx8 so well up to even fully buried

Is the megger 1711 a good tester? Would you recommend it?

After sorting it out you should convert it to low voltage AC LED with a magnetic transformer so that GFCI failures never occur again. I have a pool light fixture that gor wiring damaged from lightning. The GFCI failed unsafe (energized) and after replacing it the tripping was constant. Now installing 12V AC incandescent 300 watts, magnetic transformer with a dimmer.

Surely that’s acceptable to have cables in those locations and is that just a white flex I can see going to the lights
