Nick, bit of a video request… what are your long-term plans as a spark? I quite like to hear people’s exit plans, especially domestic sparks who probably suffer a bit more physical wear and tear. Are you gonna do this forever, or do you have a plan in mind, or target age to get off the tools?

Hook all the incandescent lamps up and use them to heat the unit. Not only will it be lovely and warm in there, it'll be bright as hell too.

DIY Film photography enlargers usally use none led bulbs of some description.
LeD are not quite there in terms of CRI for film development
We also have some old HV switch gear at work that uses old 60 Watt bulbs as heat source, we still have a big stash for that purpose

    Hi Nick,
With regards to the bag, I’d like to see one with enough slots across the back for all the regular screwdrivers that get used. None of the bags on the market seem to get it ‘just right’.
    5mm/4mm/3mm flat
    PH1 & 2
    PZ1 & 2
With slots big enough that the handle sits in snugly, not just the shaft (so it doesn’t flop about and fall out).
Then in front of those, wider slots for pliers, snips and adjustable spanners, but still room in front for other miscellaneous stuff. So many bags (I’m looking at you here, Veto 👀) give you loads of pockets, but as soon as you’ve put your tools in, you can’t get to other parts of the bag because they’re too crowded.
It’s like there is no ‘Goldilocks bag’ that’s just right. You need to make the ‘NB/GB’ - the Nick Bundy Goldilocks Bag!

I use the Klein 1/4" and 5/16" flip impact thingy in my driver constantly. One end hods screwdriver bits and the other drives 8mm head screws perfectly. It's handy.

Seeing your collection of lamps reminded me of a service engineer I once worked with from the fire alarm company Tann Synchronome. Clever Chris as he was known collected various types of lamps and was quite taken with the halogen to led conversion I had on my van.

im still looking for the perfect toolbelt. would be nice to have a toolbelt for electricians that fits enough tools for the sparky. not for a carpenter.. i hate draging my bag everywhere as im moving all around a house all the time. or while working a a consumer unit looking for my tools all the time..

Hi Nick great video especially the new tote bag. Q Acoustic speakers are very good I highly recommend them I’ve got the 3020i bookshelf speakers.
Regarding ideas how about a removable tool holder accessory for the rouge 1.0 tote? I’ve used the one from my rouge 4.0xs which slides in the back of the I.0 to allow more tools.

I’m a caravan engineer and I have a Stanley ‘bag’ of sorts, it’s more like a card with a handle that has pouches on it. I have wanted to change it for ages but a zip up bag is not for me. I’m really liking this open tote and I think that is going to be a good option, so long as I can find a space on the van for it. Regarding pockets etc, perhaps less is more, the more you can store, the more you try to store and some of it is not really required all the time.

Love the look of the NB50 any ideas when it is due for release? Maybe give away some of them lamps with every velocity purchase 😂. New bag looks nice, not for me though not a fan of open totes. But that’s personal preference.

Milwaukee lawnmower is great but I’d only get it if you have a big lawn, it’s designed for US sized gardens, I would say overkill for the UK. If you have a massive lawn then it’s really perfect for the job and very well built.
For the batteries you need the 8Ah ones as a minimum. I tried my 5’s and 5.5 HO batteries and it lasted about 15 minutes.

Stick them each on a meter and see how much power they do actually take per hr, I should have done this when they were phasing out the incan bulbs, family and work got in the way, annoyed I didn't TBH.Bearing in mind a lot of the smart bulbs are classed as F or less for efficiency wheras just an led bulb is A+

Heya Nick. Spread the word via Jamie B etc to electronics techs that work on 240V electonics equipment. The big incandescent bulbs are used in series with the equipment when powered up as a shunt if the gear has a fault. Cheers

Imagine running a house full of 100w lamps and a halogen flood outside nowadays. The energy cost would be eye watering.

My father has poor eyesight, at one point our living room as a kid had two ceiling fittings with 5 bulbs each, from memory 60 watts per bulb. It helped a lot with the heating in the winter...
These days he runs the fittings with 3x 6watt LED bulbs in a specific colour, I have to keep a couple of boxes of them spare as they're a very specific Philips bulb and they go out of stock for months at a time and because he runs them all day they last maybe 18 months*. On the flip side with the old incandescent bulbs it was changing them every couple of months.
I think i've still got several 500 watt flood lights in the garage, and some spare bulbs but I wouldn't consider them now.
*By comparison a couple of my early LED bulbs are hitting 10+ years (the R50's they replaced usually lasted about 6 weeks and tripped the lighting breaker about half the time when one died).

So velocity copied a sbld minus the v swap pannels? That's not a unique design for sure veto has there hands full on that one. Enough racing stripes not to sue velocity I guess. Sbld is over in the uk so I'm sure they have some protections legally.

It probably would be worth the Ebay for some of them especially since it's harder to get 100 W lightbulbs for Test equipment. And there's even some cases where you don't want to change out the bulb. Listening to our new elevator tech talking about a elevator where they changed out the lightbulb in the hoist way and the whole cab started moving because somebody did it an authorized modification and tapped a light socket off of the old elevator control line that was never meant to feed anything other than the controls. Scary. They screwed in one of the new LED ones and it caused the thing to move where is the incandescent one had enough resistance It didn't do anything.

These Velocity bags looks very similar in design and construciton to the Veto Pro pack brand of tools bags.
if it wasn't for the orange stripe and the texture on the base of the bag they're almost the same.

I’d put the hammer pocket on the NB-300 in the middle on the side and have a large D ring above the pocket so the hammer can slide through the large d ring and into the pocket- will hold it in better And stop it moving around but still enable u to lift it up and out easily
As for other bag ideas, I’d like a bigger tool bag, something like a modified rogue 50/stealth 400 with usual wera interchangeable screwdriver holders on the inside like nb-100 and nb-200
I know alot of people like a single bigger toolbag as apposed to a few smaller ones and this would cater to those people

    • @_eusty
      @_eusty 8 днів тому

I do this on the NB200, keeps the hammer out of the way and holds it well 😁
The trouble with big bags is they get too heavy! I work on a large site on different levels so mostly carry all the tools I need, that's why I went for the NB200, big enough for most of the things I need, but it too big you fill it full of everything and struggle to lug it about 😮

Nick, unless the battery is integrated to the light it's not worth doing a test on it, if the battery is integrated check the marketing blurb it will say how long it last on what setting .. but batteries will really perform differently in different temperatures due to their age. If as a user, you think it is a good product, just let us know why I think we know you won't give us a bum steer !
