Hi all, hope you are well, I have had a couple of people message me saying their comments aren't showing up. I can only apologise if this has effected you, hopefully the issue gets resolved as I love reading all the comments
People watch you because of your ability and your obvious integrity. The minute you become sponsored, you become beholden to someone else. I doubt that that is your style. Having said that, I am arguably your brush sponsor.
Hi Tom I'm glad you are sticking to your guns regarding being sponsored. I really enjoy your channel for the very reason you mentioned that you are a real world plumber. Keep up the good work mate 👍
on the original job tom you had laminate flooring so you had no choice but to do the best job you could as agreed at the time had the flooring been up . then you could give the customer what they wanted . not your fault at all thanks for re- videoing it . class work again tom
Tom, you are a very competent plumber, you own any issue even if it's not yours fault. But in this case where what was agreed with customer but they didn't like it, you are straight back there to resolve the issue keeping the customer happy.. Carry on just being yourself and keeping your quality and approach as it is..
You stay true to yourself Tom. I’m not saying others have sold themselves but a good proportion of their uploads are about pleasing their sponsors. I enjoy your content as I relate to it.
Fair play to you Tom, if you enjoy you're job and don't need the glitz and glam that's great. I enjoy the job like you and it's not about the best van or tools it's the job you do that counts. Keep up the great work bud.
Very good advice Tom for any apprentices (or anyone) about de-nailing your timber. ALWAYS de-nail your timber to prevent a trip to A&E with a foot injury. I was taught this when building/striking theatrical scenery as a 17yr old. That's a long time ago and I still do it now, using my ancient Stanley Steelmaster claw hammer 😅
Fair play Tom, everyone has a different view of being sponsored and working with companies….. like you said if you was to be sponsored it would have to be with a company you like…. Exactly what my view was and the reason why I work with the brands I do. Leading into Christmas there is ALOT of companies that contact people like us who make content….. probably 5/6 per week and I turn them down aswell. Keeping it “Real World” in the content is key to being relatable… Keep doing you….. 👍🏼👍🏼
Hi Tom, like you said you did initially agree with the customer to pipe on the surface. I fitted similar type radiators supplied by the customer but the customer was not happy because they didn’t heat the room efficiently. I just like the type 22 radiators a good product I think for the money, obviously sized appropriately. Another great film thank you Tom, take care. 👍👍👍
Well done Tom sometimes customers don’t listen properly and blame you for not doing it as they thought glad it turned out well hope you didn’t lose out too much
Great vid. Agree with your comments re sponsors - a lot of other trades channels have just become adverts, with all sorts of weird contrived uses for CT1, etc.
Hi Tom i wouldn't feel to bad mate about the pipe fittings as they had already agreed to them and there's nothing wrong with being old school in your work ethic, as always good job👍
Gowan.... give us a hint on the product you don't like Tom. I really like your narration as you give that real sense of taking us on your job and being there on site in the real thick of it with you😊.. The pipe run ain't that bad..
I might tell the story one day fully, but I had just finished having a row with their technical department, and an email pings saying they want to make me a vip. You honestly couldn't make it up, but I know a lot of plumbers who had issues with the particular product, thanks for watching mate
The house is lovely and warm now, I took out an old one pipe system which never really worked, so the rads all now work efficiently. I went back the other day to do another little job here, and the first thing they said was how warm the house is now, thanks for the support as always
Great video Tom, thanks. Unlike with your work, I see crappy electrical at 9:43 and 11:42 with Wagos dangling in the air.😱 Pity about that beautifully installed copper, but, as you say, the customer must be happy at the end of the day.
One of our fitters nearly burnt a house down with the super fire blow torch, he didn't turn it off at the valve and it fell over when he was down stairs and flicked the ignition button and lit the torch,, when he came back upstairs the bedroom was well alight!😮😮😮
Can't be helped Tom .like you said pipe install was discussed on site because of the laminate floor .so not your fault.👍👍👍 Love those wago connectors used on the electric cables under the floor and not enclosed in a box .shocking.
5that rad is flow sensitive...you have a small rubber bung which has to be hammmered 1/3 way into bottom pipe rail and put flow on the side you put the bung in....otherwise the flow goes straight across bottom of rad....
I thought that, I know some have that stop you tap in to send the water to the top, these heated up fine though. I went to a job recently where the water was just going through the bottom of a radiator similar to this .I tapped a 10mm speed fit cap into the first rail and it fixed it, thanks for watching mate
You can always take the materials they provide and review them honestly, if they’re rubbish, just say so! As for the job in the video, I’m not sure what else you could have done given the laminate was already down. It’s definitely not your fault, and the work looked neat. :)
Thanks for the support mate, I just kind of want to keep my videos as genuine as possible, when you get given free stuff it would be almost as if I have to find the positives of something
I’ve turned to getting everything agreed in email now mate, customers change their mind quicker than the wind and most deny it, seen so many people come unstuck this way, unfortunately the days of a gentlemanly handshake have gone, I know the extra work of an email can be a pain but so can losing money. All the best mate
It was always down to have these two rooms with the pipework on surface, I upgraded from an old one pipe system, where the entire house was surfaced fixed. Due to extensive renovation, I upgraded the system, and hid all the pipework. These two rooms were used for storage, and I only had a small area to originally work in so clipping back on the skirting was the only real option as the floor was laminate and was staying. Once the rest of the house was complete, the customer decided these two rooms were to be done, and they then wanted the pipes hiding
I had similar issue on my own property but as it’s a bungalow with concrete screed floor, just boxed the pipes along the whole length with new Mdf bullnose skirting in front, once painted don’t even notice now.

Yeah the radiator thumbs stop you getting the black iron all over the house. Don’t get bent out of shape Tom, the client obviously changed his mind. I always trim the Loctite 55 off the thread when tightened up to tidy. Takes longer than making the thread up. lol.
Well done for not cashing out to make a quick buck. If only the customer would have listened when you attended the job for the first time, as you say Tom, only can only do what you have been asked.
If it’s a product you LIKE feel free to take the money or products. But if you need the money do it anyway. It’s all good. We are here for you. You need to live and need money too
I've never really considered money with the youtube stuff, I just do it as a hobby and because I enjoy it. Thanks for the support mate, it is greatly appreciated
New to the channel and new to plumbing. One question ... when you install skirting boards over wall-mounted radiator tubes, do you buy off-the-shelf skirts or do a a custom-make ? If custom, what skirt material is best suited to the job ?
Coming from a maintenance background myself I’d rather pipes be visible and easily accessible in case of leaks etc. never did enjoy having to destroy perfectly good finishes in properties because everything is hidden, obviously costing the customer more too.
Dont know about you tom, But I find it a little irritating when you have a grey Radiator and you get Grey valves, But they come with a chrome rad iron fitting.
I use the bosche professional, it's nice a clear but it eats through double a batteries, for the money it should have been rechargeable. Honestly I would get a green lazer which is rechargeable, thanks for watching mate

It does look better Tom, but when the floor covering dictates the pipe locations I hope you get paid for moving the pipes, hardly your fault, it looked as tidy as ever even though it ended up hidden. Take care 👍🚽

I kind of promised myself from the start I wouldn't, I just want to make videos because I want to, not because I'm told to, thanks for the support as always mate
What a puny output that rad must have. Probably worse than the single panel. They asked you to come back to do the work so obviously nothing wrong with it.
The rads did kick out some good heat and the customer said the house has never been warmer, I took an old one pipe system out that never really got hot, thanks for watching
Mate if you sell your services with Mmm & Ermms there's no confidence given to the client. IM A DIYer and can see the best way to get a good finish. pipes on walls is a counsel job

Thanks for the support John
Your work was not rubbish, you did what the customer agreed to.
Thanks for the support mate, it is greatly appreciated
It did look a mess
@@chris-w4n9w How would you have tackled that room, given the constraint of it having laminate flooring down at the time of installation?
@@ewalk4692 The laminate would have to come up, Not saying its the plumbers fault.
Glad to see you haven't fallen to the sponsers, keeping it real plumbing, your probably the only person not getting involved in sponsorships.👍👍👍

Great video as always. Why do people tend to use speedfit over hep in England? Always hep where we plumb. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the support Billy, it's just what is stocked in my area at the suppliers. I know some plumbers prefer hep over speedfit
@PlumbLikeTom thanks for that. Wondered if there was a trick I was missing! Cheers again
I had similar issue on my own property but as it’s a bungalow with concrete screed floor, just boxed the pipes along the whole length with new Mdf bullnose skirting in front, once painted don’t even notice now.
I think I would have gone for a boxed skirting Tom
So was it like: "I want copper all across the skirting" or was it like "fit these rads" and just the easiest possible way to do it?
