great footage. I worked approach control at Nellis AFB from 2000-2004. I will admit I miss living on the base and the constant sound of departures in the morning...along with the car alarms going off!!

+Treetop64 The second Viper driver wasn't smiling as he passed the cameras at the beginning. Didn't even glance over !!! The guy, I think Capt Todd, seriously needs to lighten up !!!!
Always under the impression that the F16's were the most nimble fighters for their time. To me, it all boils down to the pilot knowing his stuff better than his adversary. With drones and remotes the limits are being lifted...impressive machines none-the-less.
In close combat the Flanker probably would be better, since it was designed when the F 15 and F15 were already in service and were known qualities, in BVR, well the modern US upgrades has lots of power and captabilites. .
David Harris - you do know that the F-15 is MUCH faster than the F-16? Actually the F-15 is one of the fastest fighters in the world that is active duty! The F-15 is all about power!
Fantastic video w/ SPECTACULAR sound! Thank you for sharing this. *This video makes me glad I invested in a Klipsch sound system for my computer; crank it up & it's almost like being at the airshow.
The F-15 is an amazing fighter. I was lucky enough to be there when it was first introduced to the Far East (Okinawa), in the late 70's. Far superior engines, avionics and weapon systems than anything else at the time and for years to come. The F-15 Eagle is undefeated in combat and what really made me take notice was how an Israeli fighter pilot flew this awesome jet home on one wing. Look it up on youtube. Amazing.
F-16 A2A kill ratio is 76:1 The F-16 proved to be one of the most capable multirole fighters ever produced, even though it was built strictly as a day lightweight fighter with no missile fire control radar, a gun and a few AAMs. Every industrialized Western Nation and even many Eastern fighter designs since the F-16 have been mostly superb multirole aircraft, like the Eurofighter, Rafale, JAS-39, Chengdu J-10 (early Lavi/EF tech), and JF-17.
t:w is varies .. weight, altitude, speed. having t:w over one is nice but the acceleration in the vertical isn't constant as you would because of the variables listed
Roberson Lub think of it as a massive turbo with many rows of blades. Jet engines take a second to spool up from idle but they provide much more power than a piston engine and don't have the same issues at higher speed. The afterburner which is the flame is at max power where after the normal combustion for extra boost fuel is injected into the exhaust and ignited with igniters... it provides a big boost in power at the expense of endurance. the F-16C has around 29,000 lbs thrust from its single engine and the F-15C has around 24,000 lbs thrust from each engine (2) so about 48,000. the newer F-22 has like 24000 max military power (non after burning) from one engine and 39,000 lbs thrust in afterburner from one of its two engines for a total of 78,000 lbs thrust. all of the planes mentioned have a thrust to weight above one so in a vertical climb up they can gain speed.
Roberson Lub forgot to mention piston engines don't like going super high speeds and since they're generally single row propellor blades the power transfer isn't as efficient.
Roberson Lub F-22 combined has 78,000 lbs thrust lol from 2 engines. That's the best fighter in the world lol it's a stealth. You can buy old Russian mig fighters too, there's a museum maintained and flown two seat ex Hungarian Air Force mig-21 that is air worthy and has many spare parts 100 miles from me, 4k deposit as down payment 69,500 dollars total. Max speed 1400 mph thrust to weight near 1:1 and does 7-8.5 g's in a turn. not bad price for something 6x+ faster than a Bugatti
I remember in Balad living close to the air field. Those F-16's would take off for their sorties and boy would it be loud. by the time I was their all the F-15's were gone, I did however get to see a AC-130 gunship, and B-1 super sonice bomber land at the airfield.
The F-15 and F-16 are more or less obsolete planes maybe to be used in a back up roll, Not trying to insult the fantastic creation of the past but it is truly the past. I think the f-35 production was a mistake although the f-22 was made correctly and is an awesome plane but why not just make a pure bomber instead of multi role plane it is not ever going to really work at its highest potential unless it is perfected as a single role unit, bomber/fighter. There are no options for a succesful conversion such as this.
We're beyond multirole fighters now. Network-centric sensor shooters is how the 5th Gen pilots refer to them. F-15 and F-16 are still very valid aircraft, especially when linked with 5th Gen birds like Raptor and F-35. The 5th Gen make the 4th Gen much more lethal and survivable. F-15C with V3 AESA radar and Link 16 is a very capable bird, much different animal than 1980s or even 1990s F-15C. F-16V is also a very capable plane, Gen 4 + with AESA, CFTs, IRST, Link 16.
No teen-generation (F-14, F-15, F-16, F-18) has ever lost an air-to-air engagement. Not in any country's service. Not even Iranian F-14, despite lacking fundamental type-specific weapons, like the missiles. Not sure, but actually, I don't think the F-5E has ever lost either.
Correct me if im wrong, but doesn't the f-15 have only 9 mig-29 kills, most were against mig-21s, which first flew in 1955. Im not saying the f-15 is bad or anything, its great, i just think its kill ratio is a little misleading.
the F-16 does have one loss... unfortunately. serial # 91-0023. Turkish F-16 was shot down by a Greek Mirage. it was kept secret for many years to avoid causing the situation to degrade further.
freqimann Turkish airplane was never shot down by Greek Mirage or any other plane in the air.. It was dogfight with rookie pilot. Cut the bullshit unless you have a proof
Yavuz Zengin www.f-16.net/f-16-news-article619.html a simple search of the airframe number i provided would have been enough to verify this. "Cut the bullshit", unless you _like_ looking like an idiot.
freqimann You make a better search then or try to understand what you see. The article corrects my statement above. Read my statement and compare with the article..If you provide number as " KILL" make sure they have a fight both side. Otherwise its called " crash" or " accident" or whatever. The article you read: This situation was not real fight between Greek Mirage and Turkish F-16. It clearly explains what happened there.
honestly even american f-15/16s were shot down... over the years USA has even finally admitted to a couple in desert storm... were as more then a couple planes/pilots are "unaccounted for"... i see these numbers a lot. but honestly neither plane has seen true action and kills are inflated by USA attacking 3rd countries with 1960s migs/f4s etc quite frankly its a disgrace to a fallen pilot to cover up his death for propoganda. i get that its hard to confirm kills sometimes... but when a plane doesn't return............. its a loss
I wonder what the success ratio is for F-16s and F-15s going head to head assuming pilots of equal "skill" level. Both planes are extremely maneuverable, the F-16 may have a slight edge but it's a toss-up in that regard. Both are mach 2 capable and have excellent acceleration, neither can super-cruise(at least not the ones we have in active service) but both can accelerate to supersonic very quickly. Both can carry the same air to air weaponry, AMRAMMs for intermediate range and the Aim-9X for short range plus the 20mm cannon. So yeah I wonder which plane would "win". In an alternate universe I'd happily take either jet into combat but I prefer the F-16's design, the cockpit ergonomics and layout, etc. F-15 has more time to loiter though. Tough choice.
Nope. In a low altitude close in turning dogfight, yes then the F-16 would win. The F-15 would never get drawn into that kind of fight. The F-15 would keep the speeds high, the altitude high and the spacial distances longer and use it's superior power and climb rates to keep the F-16 pointed upwards and it would lose energy and get slow. And then that's the end.
F 15 multi role. Air to air/bomber. F 16 Air to air support for F 15 bombing destination. After destination, F 16 bugout. (Low fuel) F 15 Air to air (defense) gets back home.
Sadly for the F-15C the Fighting Falcon could kick its ass at what fighter pilots call a "knife range encounter." If I can turn inside you and get a guns on or short to medium range heat seeker positive-lock you're dead. As an F-15 pilot I would use my superior speed and climbing ability to get out of range of short-range missiles and guns and come up behind my adversary from a higher altitude with a radar lock missile..., and a lot higher KIAS. In fighter pilot terms it's called a slashing attack. A fighter pilots motto is after all, speed is life.
when that f15 comes on the screen instantly danger zone pops in my head and my adrenalin kicks and my heart starts thumping. when he goes vertical i almost feel like im right there in the damn plane. i wiiiish. im terrified of heights but i always wanted to fly in a fighter or fly one my damn self. when you have dreams you're in a dogfight with a mig you know its serious. its that serious id donate my damn kidney to fly in one. can anyone else relate. p.s if you cant already tell top guns my favorite movie ever.
+Connor Paller I second dcs. it takes a long time to learn. like to start you have to know Lshift l to turn on the power, Rctrl c to close the canopy, Ralt home to start left engine, Rctrl home to start right engine.... well that's enough to get off the ground but have fun focusing the radar scan parameters. it is fun to progress though.
That F/A-18 was on an attack run with HARM missiles and was unaware of the presence of the Mig. The Mig actually was lucky in that it took off passed directly through the F-18 formation (which was spread over miles) because the lead F-18 couldn't get clearance to fire quick enough. The Mig found itself behind the attacking F-18. It was not an air to air fight.
4:18 when that F-16 pushes out in front of the formation and completes its turn, you get a very accurate sense of just how powerful the f-110 engine is to be able to almost instantly make up for all the energy lost in the turn. Sure, the F-16 is one of the smaller fighter jets, but it's still a large metal object filled with fuel... and that engine has NO problem turning it into an aerial hot rod.
I didn't see any GE F110s on these F-16s. They all appeared to have P&W F100s. I grew up following the F-16 program from YF-16 in the mid 1970s-onward, lots of test pilots as neighbors, and my dad worked on it at the AFFTC. I've tracked all the production blocks, upgrades, variants, FMS, when the IPE came on board with F-16C, and experimental programs most people have never seen.
I still barely understand why everyone else keeps on saying that the SU-27 and the rest of its family will shit on American fighters, I NEED A LOGICAL EXPLANATION!!!
Larry Foulke And they like to talk shit about the f22. Well, i think they better learn to fuck with an f15 or an f16 before they fuck with the Raptor. They forget that the eagle and the falcon are a combined 224-0 in air-to-air engagements.
Probably because they saw one do a cartwheel at an airshow and forgot that jets are supposed to be FAST. I'm sure the SU-27 is decent, but people make too much of the fact that it's a big plane that stalls gracefully. :P
Russians have the best ejection seats. Just watch any video of an SU-27 or Mig-29 at an airshow. It always ends the same. Russian pilots eject and aircraft in a fiery crash.
My 2 favorite aircraft from when I was a kid. I saw an F-15 do a climb for time at Patrick AFB once...it felt like the shuttle was launching. These planes make me moist. lol
Anyone with an appreciation of that era of aircraft design should really read up on how the F-16 was conceived by the "Fighter Mafia" and acknowledge the great genius of the design behind the aircraft by these incredible individuals who bucked the "rules" at the time: www.codeonemagazine.com/article.html?item_id=37
Gotta love how they always seem to be on full afterburner (which generates huge amounts of heat) while launching those flares. That's, uh, not how you dodge IR missiles.
@@koc988 Afterburning engines make it much easier to distinguish the aircraft from the countermeasures. Not only from the flare itself, but from diffracted light and the cloud of hot smoke masking the aircraft. So yes, that is exactly how it works. IRL they 100% throttle down the aircraft while dropping flares.
T I mean it was expensive as hell, it being replaced was a viable option since it would reduce cost, the F-14 is a great aircraft but sadly it was too expensive for effectiveness
2 of the most beautiful & capable fighters to this day. Soooo much time with the burners lit during the demo, would have loved to be there!

TopGun uses F-14's...F-5 and A-4 Aggressors. No F-15's in that 🎥
+T. Parrish. notice i said f15 not f14. and the eagle is just an upgraded version of the tomcat.
3:40 *resolution* goes really badly right here.... anyone else notice?
F-15 is a beauty
+Don K and a beast
@@adriann4068 yes
Indeed the f15 is a beast on steroids! Never been shot down in a dogfight since operation desert storm!!
How much fun would an afterburner launch off a carrier would be.
That's not true, a US Navy F/A-18C was shot down by a MIG-25 in the gulf war. I cant think of any other incident of the top of my head.
+Eagle Ace The F-15 has never lost a fight. The F-16 has never lost a fight. Put up or shut up Sukhoi.
they are just russian big mouths. they are scared because we kicked the crap outta their planes throught history, especially gulf wae
I would love to see su-27 vs f-15 in real air combat 😁.
Very Cool!
F-16 falcon powerfull🔥👻
So which one's better in a direct fight?
Two awesome dogfighting American fighter jets. Love the Viper tho.
My 2 favorite aircraft from when I was a kid. I saw an F-15 do a climb for time at Patrick AFB once...it felt like the shuttle was launching. These planes make me moist. lol
F-15 - Avionics. F-16 - Maneuverability
My favorite F 16
5:14 , 5:25 Lotsa flares there 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice High Alpha
In 2:48 did you heard the air raid sirens.
Wait, you can fly a jet with glasses
Blair Thandi it's sunglasses
İ can Fly F-15 Eagle and F-16 falcon..🤦😁
Does anyone know why there were sirens blaring on Wail/Alert? (I'm assuming it was like an Air Raid signal, or something?)
LuciaElix Just an effect for the air show
John doe OK, I wasn't sure if it was from the speakers or not. Thanks!
Gotta love how they always seem to be on full afterburner (which generates huge amounts of heat) while launching those flares.
That's, uh, not how you dodge IR missiles.
That's not uh the point of the demonstration and most ir seekers go for heat differentials not heat numbers

Afterburning engines make it much easier to distinguish the aircraft from the countermeasures. Not only from the flare itself, but from diffracted light and the cloud of hot smoke masking the aircraft.
So yes, that is exactly how it works. IRL they 100% throttle down the aircraft while dropping flares.
Eagle = 105.5 to 0 kill AA ratio.
nuff said
the F-22 would probably run out of airspeed and the F-35 would run out of fuel
I agree idk y they have the fuel tanks on they aren't really going that far and they don't dog fight with them on
I wish I flew the F-16.
Saya Cita2 tinggi seperti kendalikan Kapal F-16 ini seperti raja Di angkasa...
Should I apply ice to the burn? lol
i miss the f14
T I mean it was expensive as hell, it being replaced was a viable option since it would reduce cost, the F-14 is a great aircraft but sadly it was too expensive for effectiveness
impressive
they weren't. it was only the mig-17,19, and 21. they made the mig-29 in the early 80s
Русские для вас АГРЕССОРЫ? Окей, а вы для них?
I play this through my PlayStation with my turtle beach had phones. WOW!! Freedoms thunder
Yeah his point was that the F15 has killed aircraft not built in the 50's. It was sarcasm
