He said in all likelihood the F15 would win in real life because it will have the ability to get first look, first shot, first kill due to its superior radar and tech; He also said if it becomes an in-close actual dogfight, the F16 would have the slight turning advantage.
People don't seem to realize the scale of american fighters. All fighters are big, but Europe's are tiny in comparison to what we have here. The F-15 is freaking massive if you see pictures of ground crew up close with it.
1:15 its always awesome watching multiple jets take off together flying in formation is always cool, but 1:28 is def a cool sight to see 2:36 def neat to see him looking around like that. gives a whole new perspective. gonna break that neck if not like that lol

I recall both the F-15 and F-16 using the Pratt & Whitney F100 turbofan,only difference would be the F-15 has two opposed to the F-16 which has one.the F-16 has had improved radar and avionics over time,but in the present day F-15 bigger,faster,and more long ranged.originally designed for air superiority ,and still quite capable.advantage F-15,but sure would be fun to watch seeing I'm a F-16 fan much of my life.

Human limit is the only limiting factor for an f16.. the plane can do more than what's physically allowed..

caravaggio31 Your wrong .. the Gripens performance is on a a par with the F-16..Both have the same turn rate & both are 9G+ pullers & both top out at around Mach 2+.. The F-16 has a higher trust to weight ratio than the Grippen.. So the F-16 can out accelerate & out climb the Grippen as can the F-15.. So if anything ..the F-16s raw flight performance is probably better.
265justy From f-16.net Sweden has been participating more and more in international excersises, flying with/against U.S, Norweigan and Finnish airforces. The outcome has proven that the Gripen far exceeds the capabilites of earlier generation fighters such as the F-16A/B/C/D and F/A-18C/D. There has been WVR dogfights aswell as BVR engagements. I've had the great opportunity to meet and talk to several Gripen pilots during the summer and all of them say the same thing(although not in the excact same words). In WVR combat against F-16's the Gripen showed to have no problem in position itself on the tail of the F-16, and the F-16 could not match the superb manouverability of the Gripen, offered by its unstable delta/canard configuration. The Gripen cannot match the T/W ratio of the U.S fightes but the Gripens more modern aerodynamic design allows it to pull tighter turns witout losing momentum. In the words of one of the Gripen pilots: "If the F-16 and Gripen would both excecute a 9G turn, the F-16 would lose alot more airspeed in that turn than the Gripen". In BVR there was no contest at all. In excersises with Finnish F/A-18's the Gripen won ALL of the WVR and BVR fights. The TIDLS proved to be a superior tool in the BVR fights. The F/A-18's were hit with multiple simulated AMRAAM shots, before they even knew that the Gripen fighters were present. The Gripen pilots said in WVR dogfights the F/A-18 became easier to take out the lower they went, and at 2000m, there was simply no contest.
F15 and the SU27 are the perfect embodiment of what a fighter jet should look like if ya ask me.. The F16 is right up there too.. I can get on board with the F22 but the F35 really urks me... lol

I notice in most dog fights the f16 seems to come up on top.. I think the f16 is very light and maneuverable.. F16's even beat the f35's in dog fights..

More powerful sure. The F-15 is undoubtedly the superior combat aircraft in terms of raw performance. The F-15 is faster with higher acceleration, can fly higher, carry a much larger payload, and has longer range. It also suffers less when carrying a larger payload. However, that doesn't mean the F-15 has the advantage all the time. You can't just make something more powerful, it is always a balancing act. The F-15 is significantly larger, heavier, and draggier compared to the F-16, which means the F-16 has better fuel efficiency, responds faster to pilot input, and turns faster due to less inertia. So while the F-15 is superior for it's role of air superiority (higher speed and altitude means the missiles can travel faster and further too), the F-16 is still considered the better dogfighter, and by quite a large margin at altitudes below 20000ft.
I believe that if the pilot skills are equal and the 16 gets on the 15's six it's over. I love both jets but the F16 is one bad jet when it comes to maneuvering. Both are incredible and I hope their still flying 30 years from now

Dogfights are a thing of the past for western military, its all about ground support. That's why two of the best air superiority fighters (F14 & F15) became the Bombcat(retired) and Strike Eagle, no use for a single roll a/c anymore. Even the F22s first mission was to drop a bomb on a building.

F-15s are HUGE. F-16s are incredibly maneuverable.

It is modified with the aggressor configuration. It sacrifices weapons systems for agility for the red flag ops.
Modified or not it will still out turn just about any plane in the air. Maybe not an F-22 but impressive none the less.
It's modifications are intended to rival the maneuverability of jets such as the raptor or the line of russian sukhois.
Yepper F-16 can out turn most fighters even today 2015 - it has however short legs, but could be compensated by air-refueling
