Thank you for watching!
I just got mine. It’s insanely awesome. I agree if it had the micro adjustment feature this would be a 10/10.
Seriously a stunner of a watch and bracelet. I have the 41mm steel version on a strap and it's by far my favorite watch. Hopefully Marathon has plans to release a steel version of this bracelet. But gosh this one looks amazing
Steel bracelet for the GSAR? It's been around for many years!
@@islandwatch true! But correct me if I'm wrong, I don't believe they have (yet) a steel version of this new bracelet
U r correct!
Good video. Friendly suggestion: when you do a wrist shot, lose the fabric bracelets. It is distracting and obscures the look of the watch on the wrist, especially when you move the watch below the bone. Cleaner is always better.
Nah
I have a couple of watches by Ball Watch Company and they are major adopters of the tritium markers. Quite neat to check the watch in the middle of the night and there are those markers clear and easy to read. Thanks as always for a great video about a fab watch and bracelet!.
Great review Mark, made me go purchase one from your shop, been wanting this watch for a while, could not afford the bracelet yet but will definitely get that as well to complete the watch, for now the rubber band looks great, this watch is definitely smaller than it appears, smaller than my SKX..
Love the badass look of the Marathon SAR watches, especially the JSAR with its orange accents...so cool. And they’re Canadian too. One day it will mine.
I purchased the bracelet directly from Marathon and just received it. Without micro adjustments, it's very difficult to find the perfect fit using only the half-links. In addition , there's no dive extension. How can a GSAR bracelet worthy of the name not have a dive extension or micro-adjustments? I love the mat black color and texture, which is a perfect match for the case and bezel, but I gotta say the bracelet feels a little flimsy in comparison the beefy watch case. I expected a more robust and supple construction of the bracelet. It's a nice complement to the watch and I like the simplicity of the clasp mechanism, which eliminates the bulk. But it's not exactly what I expected for a GSAR in terms of functional adjustability or robustness.
The ultimate bracelet would have some kind of on the fly micro adjustment possible.
BTW. This is an "issue" watch in the U. S. Military. All military equipment is made by the lowest bidder for a specification. That being said, Marathon went above and beyond to produce the best possible watch they could given the parameters of the contract. It is a very good watch for the money. Not a Speedmaster or a GMT Rolex, but a very capable watch just the same. You would not be disappointed owning this watch. I liked it so much I bought two. Nuff said.
Love my GSAR but after seeing the price of that bracelet I think I’ll stay with my original one.
How you been, Marc? I still need that little crown gasket for my Seiko SKX, can you refer me to the best place to get one? I'm gonna get one of these eventually. Maybe when my Reactor Gryphon really starts to fade... That's a great watch. I just ordered a really neat Mondaine Swiss Railway watch today (automatic)... it's beautiful. After that, probably a Max Bill.
Cheers. And hello from Montana,,
~Luke~
Would love an update on how ir holds up
'Luvvely Jubbly'!. Mark the Londoner!.😃
david 1980 is on the phone...wants its patter back
I have the anthracite SAR, love it.
Have been waiting for this for a long time, but what on earth were they thinking?!???
A butterfly clasp? No micro adjust? And the price is ridiculous.
Definitely should have pvd screws.
So close but yet so far.
Like these Marathons so much...and are part of what I would consider my personal perfect four or five watch collection.
Thanks Scott.

What happens to your old stock and unsold models that are dated a year or two… 2020 build year for sale today, for example?
When I pull the trigger I’m heading your way, also looking at your brand to buy.
Thanks
Ps: my parents lived on eagle mountain in fountain hills but now full time in Mx.
Amazing watch
Butterfly clasp for a combat diver it's like to say 'slippers for navy seals'.
Want to pick up a JSAR quartz for my 40th birthday. Really like Marathon watches
Outstanding watch and bracelet
No black screws??
I was surprised not to see a proper clasp with micro adjust and a ratcheting divers extension especially as this is a millitary divers watch.
If the plating is that thick and tough it should hold out on a clasp of that caliber and that goes for the screws as well dont you think?
As a Marathon owner, I will note that all of the markers are tritium. The distinction is that the 12 marker is an orange tube while the rest are green.
You should remove your bracelets when you do wrist shots. They always throw me off and take away from the watches you show. Not to mention look dirty.
are those glass tubes bigger vs the regular marathon navigator?
Wait but I've seen happy clams on low tide as well. Depends on the clam's mood.
Do you know if there are plans to do a similar bracelet for the regular GSAR/TSAR?
Issued this watch in the Army. The watch is superb! The bracelet is flawless. Marathon builds quality shit. Don't hesitate to purchase this dive watch. You will not be disappointed. Oh......and chicks dig it! I wear this watch more than my Omega Speedmaster.
Hi! I just ordered this watch from you today brother. It's $1700 through their website w/ 15% military discount but you edged them out on pricing.
Wondering, what tools I need to purchase in order to fit this to my wrist before it arrives? Just a small little screw driver? I'm not a watch guy, this is my first purchase.
I have about a 6.25" - 6.5" wrist (trying to measure today for the first time). Kind of weird because I'm 6'2 and into bodybuilding with these girly wrists haha.
Hi Mark! I wanted to know if you ship your watches internationally. I follow your channel and really wish there was a shop like yours in my country. I'd love to buy me an islander
Awesome watch. That Seiko-esque compact lugs put the 41mm on my wish list. Nice video. Keep up the good work.
I love my GSAR. My everyday watch since the day I got it from Long Island Watch last year!!
Thanks Mark, love the channel!
Lovely looking watch and bracelet. Mark what happens at 10 years when the tritium dies, can it be renued?
I believe I’ve heard Marathon will replace the dial and all tritium for a pretty low cost
I put a straight end link strapcode bracelet on mine a nice bracelet that didn’t break the bank
very nice watch contruction, nice deep technical review!
Thanks!
When is the islander field watch dropping, Mark?
Just had to show me this, didn't ya?
I have the Anthracite and the Arctic, I’m a sick Phock!!!
3 years of design for this bracelet yet the clasp on their JDD rubber strap is very uncomfortable and eventually painful to wear. The clasp on the JDD is not flush with the rubber it is protruding past the rubber a good 1mm-2mm, so you end up with two fairly sharp and pointy bits of metal constantly rubbing on your skin, i had hoped it would not bother me too much but this rubbed away a few layers of my skin in a few days which eventually became sore almost to the point of bleeding, i eventually swapped it out for a zuludiver vulcanised rubber strap which has a perfect fit for me.
For over £1600gbp I expected something that was reasonably comfortable and did not miss out a major design flaw. Hopefully the bracelets have more consideration put into them and have been thoroughly tested. I am a builder so i do not have soft skin. Just my two cents for anyone looking into marathon, which even though the clasp was poorly designed the marathon JDD is currently my favourite watch. Very happy with the watch shame about the textured rubber strap. (They have agreed to refund me if i send it back.)
Hi brother please what is the price
Marc, great looking watch. I have tried to steer clear of watches with any kind of anodized finish because they will invariably wear over time. But, if the finish is as durable as you suggest, a Marathon could find it's way into my collection.
I own an early prototype of the anthracite bracelet which I received as a gift back in the day from Page & Cooper. That one has a regular clasp with Marathon lettering and a maple leaf. It also lacks some of the micro adjustment screws. Still a great bracelet and I have been very fortunate to wear the watch on a bracelet for almost two years:)
Curious how that bracelet would look on the original GSAR
These wear too small
stunning lume, exactly what I'm lookin' for!
That date window... I get that it's a "tool watch" and so it's function over form, but man... Yuck.
Otherwise it looks like something Rambo should be wearing! (When he's not wearing a Panerai...)
Stunner!
Im building a tudor bb homage based on an orient ray 2 anyone have any cool ideas?
Any chance they now make a half link for the stainless bracelet?
Why, Why, Why is there no anthracite quartz marathon option. Any recommendations for a good quartz black case watch?
Check out the Luminox ANU
What would it look like on the "Arctic" version ?
I knew I shouldn’t have watched this video... I want it now
Just bought it from you. Can't wait to receive it!
Ha.. butterfly clasps, one the reasons I can't stall Ball bracelets. Either too tight or too loose. No thanks, looks great though.
Hope they will do this in stainless steel!
Thank god for this video. Their original braclet is utter garbage. The clasp breaks.
Lovely Jubbly :) Ole Del boy Marc
You're kidding me right? 450 for the bracelet. How is it worth more than a miltat?
I wonder how this Anthracite bracelet would look on my standard brushed GSAR?
At that price, I was looking for the watch that was attached to it....but then I saw the price of the watch that it's made for....
Dude this is a professional high quality mil-spec watch and bracelet, you get what you pay for 👍🏼... On the flip side, you drop a rolex you break the watch, you drop this Marathon, you break the floor 😁
@@AK_Russki In the military, we wear G-Shocks or whatever is on sale at the MCX
@@SSN515 that's right, for a cheap rugged piece for in the field, you can't beat G Shock 👍🏼 When we served in Chechnya the square G Shock was the preference.
@@SSN515 it’s really annoying when all the military folks come out saying “we” this and that lol. I’ve been in for 9 years, active army combat arms and 90% of the watches I see are of two types: suunto/garmin (both sold at military clothing and sales) or the Apple Watch. I honestly don’t even see that many g shocks anymore...for the record I wear an MSAR. So....all I’m trying to say is the army is people too. That’s like saying all middle class business men where seiko or Boluva because you can get them at zales or Kay jewelers at the mall.
Tempting
Friend, we need new islanders ))
Just picked up the quartz version in 41mm to “try out” a Marathon based on the great reviews you’ve posted about these watches in the past. I have to say....Holy Toledo.....what a brute, yet understated but completely awesome watch!! These Marathon watches have “something” about them besides the Nuclear in them. 😆 And ohh wow how they glow all night! Such a cool watch. The black version with this new anthracite bracelet is on the wishlist!
Lol the tolerances are shite, you can see the inconsistent spacing between the links and clasp.
Love it !!
$2,000 is pure insanity. To anyone reading this in 2023, get a Sinn or a Damasko. Marathon is clearly smoking way too much to be trusted with watchmaking.
I wonder why Marathon watches are so thick.
The tritium tubes on top of each of the hands require more space to be between each hand for proper clearance. That’s a pretty big part of it.
Is it T100?
Hey Marc. Do you know any places can you recommend for regulating a watch? Thanks mate
Honestly just do it yourself. You can use an app to see how accurate it is instead of a timegrapher. I got my watch to go +0.48 seconds a day. Just buy the tools on amazon
@@GameGuy6400 I don't know much about these tools I'd be using in addition to the app. Care to expound what those are?
@@jrmadzanthem9573 all you need is a case back opener. (If your case back is screw down) and a jeweller screwdriver set to move the balance wheel thing. Just get a free app to see how accurate your watch is
Not the video I was expecting today... Where's the new release?
you're looking at it!
@@islandwatch dah I thought it'd be the islander dress watch 😬
Don't tell anyone else, that should be Thursday or Friday.
@@islandwatch I'm going to be torn between that and the datejust looking one you hinted at on Insta. Note to all reading this follow on Instagram!
I lost sleep last night anticipating a new Islander watch today. It's a bracelet. A bubbly jubbly black bracelet. UGGHHH.😳
First
nope.
Thought that the Horween straps were going on sale?🙄
LOL a clam at high tide.
Second блять
:)
What kinda joke is this...who has the gsar in black? Can we get this braclet in the normal steel.
