Buffering with a moisturizer that has just the right amount of occlusive ingredients (Aveeno calm and restore oat gel moisturizer) is how I was able to finally get tretinoin to play nice with my rosacea! You are an incredibly valuable doctor AND educator! Thanks for all you do.
I am a golfer and live in subcontinent. Where we have summer and humidity 9 months. Have been using retinol 1%, skin has small breakout near chin area. I don't know what to do, continue retinol with less potency?
@@LemonSpeaksFrench in my experience definitely not. I use tretinoin between moisturizers and it's still extremely effective. Retinol is powerful stuff. I'd recommend waiting at least 15 minutes between steps too.
@@missromley hey thanks! I also found out that retinol works on the upper layer of the skin so it doesn’t have to seep into deeper like moisturizers, also moisturizers help the gradual release of retinol to the skin, not surprise it with strong actives. So definitely it doesn’t affect efficacy
Dr Idriss said that applying moisturizer before the retinol buffers it, making it weaker. Does the same thing happen when applying moisturizer after retinol? At night I apply retinol after washing my face than I wait about 20-30min to let my skin full absorbed the retinol before applying my night time moisturizer. Am I weakening the retinol by doing this?
As a person who live in tropical region, which practically summer for a whole year, I don't get the perfect time to start the retinoid like the fall or winter. My derms prescribe me tretinoin from 0.25 to 0.5. Fortunately, My facial skin is quite resilience with it. In addition , since I life in South East Asia, avoiding the sun in order to not get tanned is quite a norm. So, stay indoor, wearing hat, facial mask, and umbrella is quite common and helps me adapting to tretinoin.
I live in Malaysia SE Asia and I have very fair Caucasian skin but I’ve been using retinol for a year now successfully. I do apply a lot of sunscreen though which I learnt from our own Good Doctor :) my favorite is the drunken elephant!
I will forever be waiting for your Best and Worst of brands like The Ordinary and The Inkey List or any inexpensive brands that my poor ass can actually afford 🙏🏼🥰
Amen., I totally concur with the previous commentator! Great to see you Dr. Idriss in the midst of your super busy life.. Good luck with your new practice, we nerds always appreciate your invaluable advice. Much love from Ireland.. xx
In lab muffin beauty, michelle told that tje only stable after opening retinoid from the ordinary was de granactive retinoid 2% emulsion, so, i hope it helps
The Olay Retinol 24 is such a game changer for me. Been using it since early February this year and my skin texture is much more even with pores much less apparent now. I even recommended it to my brother who started using it since May and his skin is greatly improved as well. I can see why it is a best seller. It works so well as a beginner's retinol and the price is very reasonable. Here in Malaysia you can get it on sale for as little as $15-20 so I'll always buy at least 2 or 3 tubs to stock up. I would normally use it with the serum as well and so far, my skin is loving it. In fact I've been getting compliments about my skin and some even thought I'm a 20 something person! (I'll be 35 this September) Love it so much and so happy it gets the attention that it deserves! 💖 💖 💖
For the last 2 years I've been using A313 and ih has been great! Works just fine. I am 44 and my little sister, who is 31 and a lot of her friends have also started using A313. Everyone had good experience with it. I was thinking I'm switching to something stronger but as you said: Constant usage is better than no usage. I'm satisfied with my skin and the proof of that are jealous looks and questions on what did I do and what fillers did I use for my face. No fillers, just good old A313. Thank you for all the good advices and recommendations that you gave us through all of these years.
Because of you, I asked my derm about Altreno. She had never heard of it and told me “you’re being sold a bill of goods”🤦🏼♀️ when I told her it had buffering ingredients. Whatever, she prescribed it and I LOVE it! ZERO irritation and I use it 6 nights a week (I do glycolic one night). As a night cream, I use Bioderma Atoderm. 9 hours later, and I can still feel it on my skin without clogging pores. Highly recommend for dry skinned folks! Sleeping on a silk pillowcase also helps as Cotton absorbs product.
Thanks for the recommendations doc! 😊 I am 33 and just bought my first retinol creme, I decided to buy Olay and give it a try. So far it is one of the best cremes I used 😊 I recommended it to my mom as well, since she has quite sensitive skin, and felt uncomfortable when using most of the retinol cremes. For Olay, she says she finds it very good as well 😊
I have been using the No. 7 retinol for a month and a half. It may be breaking me out, I haven't decided yet. I bought it to use on my Retin-A break periods. I do like the texture and it doesn't burn upon contact. I am a Retin-A veteran (4+years usage) and I love it. I'm in love with retinA 😄
I use differin and I LOVE it. I'm only using it twice a week and a pea size amount. I use Aveeno oat gel moisturizer first let it soak in for 10 minutes then differin. I have dry cheeks and sometimes oily in the t zone, rosacea, and somewhat sensitive skin. It comes and goes. ( I have noticed that differin has actually made my skin come forth with more oil.) Idk if that's good or bad but I'm loving it. I would take oily skin over dry any day 🙏🤗🙌
It's so fascinating how quickly my outbreaks stopped and I got cured permanently from HSV 1&2. All thanks to @Draloha1 ua-cam.com/channels/_YFEEZEr1BxGkNg1d4vqww.html 💙💜
Best retinol I´ve ever used is the skinceuticals 0.5. It´s just phenomenal but expensive with an 80/90 euro price tag. I´ve used prescription 0.25 and I prefer the skinceuticals because the added ingredients make my face glow and it even fades away nasolabial lines. I am looking for a less expensive dupe though!
I was super surprised with olay; seriously feels so good on my skin; I stopped using skinceuticals since my budget got crunched and am happy there is a more affordable alternative for sure
I just realized that I live in a retinol paradise!! I live in the north of Sweden 🇸🇪 and in the fall, autumn, winter and early spring, it’s very dark here. In the mid winter we only have a couple or three sun hours a day. I’m going to go all in on retinol this winter! ❄️ ❄️
Very interesting timing Dr. Shereene! I ran out of the La Roche Posay retinol serum ($40) I was using and needed to replace it but money is a bit tight. My local pharmacy had a small sample size container of the Olay retinol 24 in the travel section ($6) so I decided to try it. I agree with your review. It is very gentle and I have been able to bring it down to my chest. The cream is also nice and hydrating.
When I was first prescribed with tretinoin 0.05%, I made a huge mistake of using it every night without buffering it. The dermatologist gave me that instruction to use it nightly. It ended up irritating my skin so much. My face was red and everything I put stings, even just rinsing my face with water would sting it 😑
Since we had a very poor summer with low UV index and my rosacea was behaving I started retinol in July with 0.1 so basically nothing and I'm thinking about moving to 0.3 at the end of the month up until spring! I hope your son gets better very soon
No. 7 is great and helped ease me into tretinoin. Still I had to 1. buffer and 2. avoid chemical exfoliators (caused chemical burns on my face) and B3 (vitamin C in the morning was surprisingly OK). My skin became incredibly sensitive even though there was no peeling or “purging”. The composition of moisturizer I used to buffer at night was critical. I went for glycerin, squalene, shea butter and nothing much else, despite my having combination skin (la roche possay toleraine ultra cream). It took a while to figure out that niacinamide was the culprit making my skin feel like it was on fire. So introduce ingredients gradually. It was hellish trying to figure out what was causing the reaction. 7 months later I can use niacinamide again and AHAs (5% toner)/BHAs (2% toner) and I’ve been on tretinoin for 5 months going up to 0.05. It’s all been a long process but worth it.
Your videos have really been helpful in understanding my skin, at age 22 I have been struggling with acne for a year now, tried to tackle it with skin care, finally decided I need professional help though and am going to see a dermatologist in 2 weeks. Acne scars are affecting me more and more now so it feels good to seek out help.
Can you please do a video on Your own personal Favorite Retinols ? :) I would also love a series on all your favorite skincare in each categories especially with Acne and “anti aging “
La roche posay is alright. But truly they have the best international marketing strategy ever. In France they are not considered as great, anywhere else they mostly are. I'm glad you are not sponsored and you speak the truth about products. Best channel I have seen on skin.
I have quite sensitive skin and started using retinol maybe around 2 months ago. I'm using First Aid Beauty Skin Lab Retinol Serum 0.25% which was recommended by Dr Idriss in one of her retinol videos. I would highly recommend this one. I've started with once a week, but quickly could use it 3 times a week and that's how much I use it now. Not more because on other nights I use BHA from Paula's Choice and I have one night without any of them 'rest day'. My skin is getting better every week and I had no inflammation going on.
Dr. Shereene, could you please also make a tiny little video about sunscreens during fall and winter? Is it smart to go down to the spf30? Should we reapply less times a day? Can you recommend any mattifying sunscreens that do not dry the skin out even with the heating on? Or is it allowed to use blotting paper after the non-mattifying sunscreen has been absorbed?
Just "moved up" to the Geek & Gorgeous 0.5% retinal. This is a wonderful product, been using it for almost 4 weeks. No dryness, no peeling and my hyperpigmentation is already fading. I will see how my skin is doing after 6 months, I may then move up again to the 1% retinal. I would love to know your thoughts on the G&G brand. 💖💖
Love G&G I went ahead and bought the 1% and don’t find it too strong . I stopped using tretinion because it was too drying on my face after 3 years of trying it. I use G&G 4x a week so I could use other things other nights . I hope G&G get super popular so they open in the US because to get “free shipping” I have to order $70 at a time 🤷♀️I want to try their new product but I didn’t finish anything yet from my last order
I was just told how young I look the other day and I thank you-I’ve learned so much from you and love my skincare routine I’ve created from your advise!
I have been using the Olay Retinol24 Moisturiser, Serum and Eye Cream 6 nights a week. And then use Tretinoin 1 night a week. Seems to be working out great so far. The Olay makes my skin feel really soft. I will be ramping up the Tretinoin usage as my skin gets used to the ingredients.
I love your videos Dr. Idriss, so informative yet easy to follow and understand. I feel like I learn something new after watching each of your videos!!! 🥰💓🦋✨
I started my 45 year old boyfriend on Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Fragrance Free a little more than a month ago and it’s been working great for him! We both have seen his skin looking noticeable better already. Recommend as a starting retinol
So happy to see you in your back in your usual setting and best of luck with your practice. Hope your son feels better soon! Ear infections can be brtual. Video request: a dedicated mascne video. I've cut out the morning moisturiser to no avail and I'm now at my wits end! (am nurse so on work days have to wear a mask for like 13.5 hours including my commute)
Medical resident here, I watched a couple of Doc Idriss' videos where she said a Niacinamide serum may help with the situation. I have oily acne-prone skin and even though Doc has said skip the moisturizer, I found moisturizer has actually helped with the mascne. I also recommend using a KN94 mask, some Korean brands have reusable ones that you can soak in soapy water (I use a bit of bleach tbh) so you can reuse them 5-20x (depending on the brand and wear and tear). The KN94s are far less irritating than the single use surgical face masks. The most well-known KN94 brands Ilwoul or AirQueen are a bit pricey, but there are off-brand ones that work just as well as IW and AQ.
Great informative video, I use Niacinamide/Hyaluronic serum as a buffer then apply the 0,005 tretinoin cream after. This routine seems to work for me. No irritation, no peeling. I also alternate between this serum and pure glycerin.
I recently started using Olay retinol moisturizer (the one you showed) after watching your previous video on retinol and retinol esters....I just wanted to ask you something.. Can I use this Olay retinol moisturizer daily at night? I'm currently using it in 1-day-gap frequency. I have oily, sensitive skin. Am a fan of your videos. Love from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Congrats for your new practice! I'm surprised you didn't mention the L'Oreal retinol that comes in a dropper - because you mentioned it in your retinoids video last time and that's what I've been using. My mom commented when she saw me after more than a year that I now have "Korean-like skin, very glowing!" and asked me how to make her skin like mine (Asian moms, amiright?)
Thats the one I use too. The Loreal with dropper. Its was my first chosen starter rentinol. Once the bottle is finished i will graduate to a stronger one probably the Avene one.
I love LOVE watching your videos! I am just now figuring out my skincare journey at 32, thanks in no small part to your information. I’m dipping my toes into the retinoid game, because I know they can be transformative, but I would love to hear your take on in-office procedures like lasers and peels. Part of me wonders if I should just go for something a little more drastic if I want to see major improvements. And along those lines, I would love to hear what you think about hair removal techniques. Thank you for educating us on so many skin care topics! You are a smart, driven, lovely woman and loads of people respect your work!
I was nervous to start a retinol again because I used one a few years ago and broke me out so bad…..now I realize that I was overdoing it….thank goodness for you! I’m learning!
Such an informative video. Thank you. For some reasons i never get attracted to Olay. I always feel its rubbish. I haven’t changed into any other brand other than ordinary when it comes to ingredients. Roc is actually very good for retinols.
Thank you for the valuable tips! I would love to see a video that detailed any products you should avoid mixing on your skin, or if there's items you should rotate because they might not play well together but have different benefits.
I am a retinol beginner so I loved to hear that fall is the best time to start a retinol routine! This week will be my third and final week of mixing retinol with my moisturizer twice a week. Next week I will do test patches on my face, neck and chest. Then apply the moisturizer. I've heard it's a good idea to put retinol on and then wait at least 20 minutes before applying moisturizer. Is that true? I did learn that I should be using retinol on the back of my hands! That makes sense. Thank you, Dr. Idriss for your awesome UA-cam videos. I have learned so much and I feel a lot more comfortable aging. I'm 41. Hopefully I will age seamlessly as you said in an earlier video.
thank god for the good review on olay retinol by my favorite dermatologist! ive been using it for quite sometime & it is the most gentle retinol out there.im using it consistently and my skin did not freak out or become super sensitive. plus it would cut the skincare step because its also a moisturizer
I’d love your thoughts on retinol eye creams. Are they effective? Are they worth it? What are brands you would recommend? Thank you for your invaluable advice as always
Shereene, thank you for your informative videos! I can’t stop watching them for the past 2 days! Could you please do one on dehydrated skin? How to recover, while also tackling other skin problems.
Hi Dr Shereen Idriss, i just started retinol for 6 weeks but i decided to stop for a while because my face got breakout. Lately i just found out that there are some ingredients that can not be used at the same time. Like retinol with aha bha pha, retinol with vit C. I would love to hear more about this from you. I Love you 😘😘❤
I’ve been trying the Olay one for a week now and am surprised to see results already! It’s crazy. I look at least 5 years younger, my huge forehead lines are visibly reduced and overall my skin is glowing. However I can feel a light tingling sensation around my eyes when I put it on at night and I do break out a bit around my mouth. Other than that - I’m really happy! 👱🏻♀️
had hormonal acne since puberty and worsened because of PCOS. started tretinoin 0.25 +hydroquinone 1.5 months ago and i have seen a lot of improvement.
While we're talking retinols ... I'm looking for a good one to use on my body. I use retinaldehyde on my face, but that's far too expensive for the body. I don't trust any of the no-name brands from Amazon (I don't trust Amazon for skin care at all). I know Paula's Choice makes a retinol body lotion, but I no longer like that brand - and it's at the upper end of my budget. Why retinol for the body? I'm over 60, and have a combination (in different places) of KP, crepey skin, loss of firmness, and even a few wrinkles. [No pigmentation issues.] Retinoids are such powerhouse ingredients, I'd love to see what one can do on my arms, legs, etc.
@@rainep9733 I used PC for many years too. Great products, and a brand philosophy I agreed with. 3-4 years ago, they ditched the philosophy. After years of "eye creams are unnecessary", they came out with eye creams. They now sell products with un-researched key ingredients (bakuchiol) and for non-studied "problems" (blue light). Unilever is jacking up the prices, marketing in China, and adding a lot of marketing-driven products to the line. The Old Guard PC products are still excellent. But I don't like the way the company is moving, and am looking for alternatives to PC products.
Hello Dr Shereene. Hope you’re doing good. It’s like you’re reading my mind. I literally just bought the Olay Retinol Moisturiser. It’s my first time using retinol in moisturiser form, so the thing is, what serums/actives do you suggest that’ll go well with it?
I just want to say a big thank you for all the valuable advise you give to the world! I finally stopped throwing money away and stick to the simple effective ingrediens.
Please go more in depth about the percentage of Centella Asiatica in these products. Purito has always been my go to (and the results are actually amazing), but I do not think the percentage of Centella asiatica in their products means what we, as consumers, think it means. Would love to understand this better!
If Centella Asiatica is formulated in a complex, the percentage in the complex might be e.g. 50% but if the percentage of the complex in the entire formulation is e.g. 10% the overall percentage in the product is 5%. The percentage of the complex in the entire product is usually difficult to find out.
Very informative! I shy away from Olay because of the jack of all trades, jump on the band wagon approach and frankly the sheer amount of products, but I may try that one for neck, chest and hands. Have been using the L’Oreal retinol for a while, I love it.
That’s why we need you in our lives! Thank you! Can you please review the L’Oréal pure retinol revitalift laser night serum (blue bottle)and the 1% retinol treatment by Paula’s choice?? Thank you!!
Congratulations on your own practice! I'm really proud of how far you come and I hope you are patting yourself on the back for this huge step. Also thank you for the tips on retinol! Having rosacea I bought a 0.2% serum and a red spot popped up on my nose after using it twice 2 days apart. Could this be related/mean I should space it out a little more?
Congrats on your new space (and that freaking sparkling shirt)! Would love to see videos about your favorite cruelty-free and vegan products! And owned by women of color, while we're at it ;)
Hello! 🌷 Great video, right on time. I am 50 soon, I have great skin-I can't complain. I just started to introduce retinol to my skin like three years ago. My first retinol was A313, my skin like it even if it is sensitive and dry. My neck don't like it as much, it becomes itchy. I am not sure if here in Sweden we have any tretinoin type of retinols.🤔 What would you suggest for my skin as a next step? Thanks in advance! 🙌💞
There is another derm in UA-cam said and promoted that retinol should be applied until your skin become red, flake, like inflamed to get the result. So, I am so scared to try as in my country, seeing derm is soo expensive, i don’t know to what extend is normal for my skin. Glad to watch your video and find something to start with.
it is a marathon not a sprint..take it slowly.. as long as you're consistent..if you rush and your skin gets irritated because you overdid it, you'd have to wait again until your skin barrier gets repaired.
An inflamed fluff puff is my new favorite expression for suffering skin 😂 Would you also say fall is the best time to go up in the strength/percentage of the retinoid being used if someone isn't a retinoid novice?
Can we get a video about lip care products? Especially now that it’s getting drier, my lips feel neglected but idk how to exfoliate them or what to use
You can try the laneige sleeping mask. This works amazingly for me i wear it right before sleeping and my lips are so much more hydrated and plumped. Also you can exfoliate it off w a wet cloth in the morning. Always wear spf on your lips ofc and like even simple Vaseline can work great. I heard the kosas lip balms really good. I've tried nipple balm on my lips, it works so good espescially if your lips are cracked and dry. The palmers coco butter swivel stick is really nice for your lips, knees anywhere dry it'll sooth and soften the area with contious use, i like it a lot. Check out the summer fridays lip balm, kopari, the rose vegan lip balm and the curel ones. To exfoliate, you can use a gentle lip scrub even the lush ones seem fine for me.
The No. 7 seems to have piqued my interest. My favourite drugstore retinols so far are the CeraVe resurfacing serum and the Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair moisturizer. They are gentle but very effective and they have Dr Dray's stamp of approval - which is how I found out about them. Lol. I use tret on my face but I can't tolerate it on my neck and chest so that's when these drugstore alternatives come into play.
I used black soap ( I know…eeeek) to wash my face but it broke out recent so switched up to your recommended products Neutrogena face wash, Aveeno calm and restore moisturizer and then Laroche Posay Adapalene and my skin looked better over night! No more enlarged pores too! Thank you. I learned that natural is not always better ( hello….poison ivy)
Hi Dr. Idriss! I follow all your advice and my skin is so much better for it! I am 52 and want to take really good care of my skin. I have used A313 for a little over a year now since you introduced it to me. I use it 5 times a week. Should I be changing it up seasons wise (I live in Chicago) or is it true that I’d you consistently use the same product it is no longer as effective? Thank you for helping my skin look so healthy!!
Love that top! You are a Wonder Woman. I did miss you but family first always! Great to see you again. Love from Australia where it’s getting hot already.
I wanted to ask if these retinol products is ok to use as an eye cream as well or should I look for a separate retinol eye cream? Your videos has been a joy to binge watch. Very informative.
I’ve been using the No 7 here in the U.K. for the past 7 months and I peeled like crazy for up until about a month ago! I started with once a week then twice and now can use it every other day otherwise it make my skin peel. I think I’ve been using too much though, you’re supposed to use 2 small pumps for the whole face but I used like 3 and even 4 pumps which was too much. I will continue to use it for a few more months and then start Tret 0.5. You can a lot of the time find this one in the 2 for 1 offers so it works cheaper that way. They’ve also got an eye one in similar package but haven’t tried it yet as I just use the regular one under my eyes with a lot of moisturiser to buffer it and it work fine.
I am often outside for work. I always use a low dose of retinol in the summer. Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion from The Ordinary. Then from October I will start to taper this off and switch to Retinol 0.5% in Squalane from TO. Then in the winter I use their 1% serum. And from the spring I will lower again. I have sensitive skin and prone to impurities. This works best for me. Tretinoin made my skin extremely ugly. I will never use that again!
Please never stop making these videos shereen I need you 😂😂 future vid topics: Could you talk about if foods really do cause breakouts and how? When I was in college I tried to research published works about dairy and acne since that’s one claim I had heard, but there was no significant data about it. So, what do you know about diet and skin (positive and negative effects)?? Could you talk about the difference between a derm and an esthetician?? When can you trust them? Or should you only go to a derm?
@@katherincastillo3414 I liked it, but I’ve moved on to Avene retrinal , it’s more expensive but I really like it but I would definitely go back to the Neutrogena if I couldn’t get the Avene
I would love to hear your thoughts on Avene RetrinAL 0.05%. I’ve been wanting to start my retinol journey, but I have such sensitive skin. I thought this might be a good option. I love your videos! :)
I just got the No. 7 retinol eye cream. I've only used it twice so far, but so far no irritation. I may try the Avene retinal eye cream when I finish the tube, but I wanted to start with a more gentle and less expensive retinol eye cream. I use adapalene on the rest of my face and on my chest since I did used Differin as a teen and liked the results.
I live in Florida and I use The Ordinary Granactive 2% Retinoid Emulsion 5 days per week and on Sundays and Wednesdays I’ve moved up to their Ratinal 2%. I had zero interest in trying any of their retinols in squalane, so my only choice was going from the granactive retinoid to their retinal emulsion. No irritation as of yet, so I might move to using the retinal 3 days and hopefully be able to use nightly. My entire routine is all The Ordinary. I use their squalane cleanser both day and night, and during the day I use their multi-peptide + copper serum with their aloe + NAG serum on top. NO true moisturizer over here and my skin does fine bc I’m giving it all the nutrients it could ever need for the retinal/lids to do their thing and allow my face to hydrate itself, essentially. I do have the beta glucan moisturizer, but personally, it’s too thick. Anyway, just thought I’d share.
Hi!! Good to see your videos again!! Thanks for them!! Please tell us what do you think about RetinAl of Avene. I started with it y I feeling zero irritation and I read that is better than retinol. Good weekend!! 🥰
I hope she answers also. I have been using the Avene Retinal since March of this year. I haven't had any issues with it but I'm already going on my 3rd bottle since March and not sure if I can afford this all the time. I thought I would see better results by now.
If you like the Olay you may also like Neutrogen Rapid Wrinkle Repair (fragrance free). I person switch between the two depending on what’s in stock or if One or the other are on sale. I really love both and like Dr. Idriss says very gentle but very effective.
Hi, I would recommend Glow Recipe. I love their products and their products are colourful, fun, smell amazing and just work. In my opinion they are an amazing present ( they already have some sets). For these ages I would especially recommend their watermelon line/ banana moisturizer/ blueberry cleanser. Maybe take a look at these. But this is only a personal opinion. Have a nice day!
Buffering with a moisturizer that has just the right amount of occlusive ingredients (Aveeno calm and restore oat gel moisturizer) is how I was able to finally get tretinoin to play nice with my rosacea!

I would normally use it with the serum as well and so far, my skin is loving it. In fact I've been getting compliments about my skin and some even thought I'm a 20 something person! (I'll be 35 this September) Love it so much and so happy it gets the attention that it deserves! 💖 💖 💖
Once I m used to retinol I can use it everyday or this is not daily treatement
hi! wanna ask if did you have closed comedones before??? wanted to try olay retinol but not sure if it will help with my closed comedones 😅
Maybe u should start something stronger since A313 is by far the weakest.
Hi, Does a313 reduce marks?
I love the Cerave Resurfacing Retinol for Acne. My cystic acne disappeared with that. I'm so so so happy❤️
I dont know if i should use that
Because of you, I asked my derm about Altreno.
Love Altreno too, much lighter than tretinoin which is like toothpaste yucch
I would take oily skin over dry any day 🙏🤗🙌
What is your opinion of the CeraVe retinol? This one: CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum
I LOVE the olay! I don’t use it as my retinol I use adapalene gel for that. The olay is my night moisturizer and I am addicted to the feel on my skin!
I love Olay cleansers. They are so cheap and so good.
My mom has been using the Olay retinol and her skin is looking great.

My face swelled up on one side with No7. I had to return. 🙁 sensitive folks be mindful patch test!!
I would also love a series on all your favorite skincare in each categories especially with Acne and “anti aging “
Congratulations for your own practice! I’m sure that’ll going to have great success!! Best wishes for your son!🥰😊
One I really like is ROC wrinkle corexxion (line smoothing) retinol serum tablets/beads.
It is a bit pricey, but I find it works well.
Thank you, doc! I have been using retinol since I started watching your channel. I really appreciate your medical and scientific insughts!
Same here ! 🙋🏻♀️
Hello! I use No. 7 and I’m glad you have a good opinion. I live in LA and I bought for $29.95 at Target👍 Love your videos! Thank you!
Great informative video, I use Niacinamide/Hyaluronic serum as a buffer then apply the 0,005 tretinoin cream after. This routine seems to work for me. No irritation, no peeling. I also alternate between this serum and pure glycerin.
Fall is my favorite as well!,im wearing a warm, cozy, sweatshirt while watching this.
I love all your bracelets, btw!
You are so right about those 3 products. Percentages etc. Tks for this video.
It’s my favorite time of the year too!! Yay for fall 🍂 🎃
My mom commented when she saw me after more than a year that I now have "Korean-like skin, very glowing!" and asked me how to make her skin like mine (Asian moms, amiright?)
she only mentioned what the pharmacist gave her
Thats the one I use too.

I’ve just started with the Olay and my skin is loving it! I was shocked!
I was nervous to start a retinol again because I used one a few years ago and broke me out so bad…..now I realize that I was overdoing it….thank goodness for you! I’m learning!
When u first use it ,does it cause little pimples or something,I'm 19 I started it slowly but I see pimple pop up

Such an informative video. Thank you. For some reasons i never get attracted to Olay. I always feel its rubbish. I haven’t changed into any other brand other than ordinary when it comes to ingredients. Roc is actually very good for retinols.
thank you for being the #1 derm doctor in the world in my humble opinion :)
Only wait before applying moisturizer when you become an experienced user of retinol and your skin is used to it.
thank god for the good review on olay retinol by my favorite dermatologist! ive been using it for quite sometime & it is the most gentle retinol out there.im using it consistently and my skin did not freak out or become super sensitive. plus it would cut the skincare step because its also a moisturizer
I’d love your thoughts on retinol eye creams. Are they effective? Are they worth it? What are brands you would recommend? Thank you for your invaluable advice as always
check out her PM skin routine video she uses an eye retinol in it :)
Thanks for being so clear with your explanations. You are really helpful and straight to the point! No fuss 😊
I Love you 😘😘❤
Omg, no, never use all that together.
I've been using it for 6 weeks but seems nothing happens, I'm from Philippines a little sunny heat and rain 🙃
@Anne Benitez maybe olay is not for your skin but somepeople say it takes 6 months before you see the results.
I started using the A313 pomade /cream and it is awesome! My acne scars from flare ups dissapear after only a few weeks instead of months!
had hormonal acne since puberty and worsened because of PCOS. started tretinoin 0.25 +hydroquinone 1.5 months ago and i have seen a lot of improvement.
You are SUCH an incredible teacher! I can follow along with you so easily with topics I find very overwhelming. You are amazing 👏
Advanced Clinical has retinol lotion for body that comes with a big bottle. Fragrance free, too.
OSEA, anti aging body balm is INCREDIBLE
Advanced clinicals and Lactovit body loțiuni, the one with the red cap have retinol.
Why do you no longer like PC products? I am over 60 and a PC User.

Please go more in depth about the percentage of Centella Asiatica in these products. Purito has always been my go to (and the results are actually amazing), but I do not think the percentage of Centella asiatica in their products means what we, as consumers, think it means. Would love to understand this better!
If Centella Asiatica is formulated in a complex, the percentage in the complex might be e.g. 50% but if the percentage of the complex in the entire formulation is e.g. 10% the overall percentage in the product is 5%. The percentage of the complex in the entire product is usually difficult to find out.
We want you to speak to us about The ordinary products, including their retinol and retinoid
So happy to have you back on my Saturday morningggg 🥳🥳🥳🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰🥰
Congratulations on your practice! You'll do great things!
Very informative! I shy away from Olay because of the jack of all trades, jump on the band wagon approach and frankly the sheer amount of products, but I may try that one for neck, chest and hands. Have been using the L’Oreal retinol for a while, I love it.
I read an article about the Olay24 and it said it’s encapsulated and highly stable to light and oxygen, slow released over 24 hours in skin.
No. Just use 3 times in a week to allow your skin cells to regenerate and get all internal gunk out of your pores. Don't worry. Stay persistent
Hi Dr. Shereene! Redermic R was the first retinol I ever used. It's pretty mild. When you buy it here in Sweden it says it contains 0,3% retinol.
I want to step up my retinol. I have been using adapalene for years now
An inflamed fluff puff is my new favorite expression for suffering skin 😂
Would you also say fall is the best time to go up in the strength/percentage of the retinoid being used if someone isn't a retinoid novice?
The Olay one says MAX because they have one that’s even milder and doesn’t say MAX
Thank you for the info! Please do not ever apologize for putting your family and career first! ❤️😊
Hi Dr.
Thank you so much for all your content Dr. Shereene Idriss! What do you think of the L'Oreal Revitalift Day SPF 30?
I appreciate that you reviewed drugstore brands! Pocket friendly-ish
Please never stop making these videos shereen I need you 😂😂 future vid topics:
Could you talk about if foods really do cause breakouts and how? When I was in college I tried to research published works about dairy and acne since that’s one claim I had heard, but there was no significant data about it. So, what do you know about diet and skin (positive and negative effects)??
Could you talk about the difference between a derm and an esthetician?? When can you trust them? Or should you only go to a derm?

Ur skin is so flawless

For these ages I would especially recommend their watermelon line/ banana moisturizer/ blueberry cleanser. Maybe take a look at these. But this is only a personal opinion. Have a nice day!
There is glow recipe, bubble and inkey list . You can choose products according to her skin type.
Kinship is a good brand targeted toward younger people that is fairly affordable and sustainable!
