I'm not sure if there is studies in retinoyl that can reverse dry skin to more oily. I have dry, sensitive, and mild rosacea. Now I've been using differin for about 3 months. I can tell a HUGE difference in my rosacea. My skin hasn't been this calm in years. My redness is nearly gone. There's a huge reduction of broken capillaries as well. I also do use 2 moisturizers. Hi Dr Dray, Thank you for this review. I am a dual Canadian/British citizen so I am used to this brand. I am currently in Florida and just picked this up in Walgreens in July. I have sensitive skin + rosacea, and can not tolerate most retinol products. I have been using this once per week for about 3 weeks and so far have had no reaction. I am happy to find this product and plan to gradually use it more than once per week. I also have found great results with this brand’s cica-rescue skin paste at night if my skin becomes particularly reddish during the day. Thanks for the tips on applying retinol!!
I've been using the No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum for close to 5 months. I love it, I've noticed a major difference. I was in the women's shelter for six months, due to my house being condemned. It was very stressful, especially on my skin. I didn't have access to any of my skincare products. I found lines forming I didn't have before last year. Now I'm blessed to be in a senior housing complex studio apartment. With little money to spend, I wanted something inexpensive. Found an article that recommended this No7 product. I'm now 67 years old, and this product has really made me look younger.
I'm here in Ireland ☘☘☘ and started using the Boots Retinol only recently and I can see an improvement already. Experience a small amount of sensitivity but that's probably because I wasn't using any moisturizer beforehand. Now, that you have advised that it's ok to do so I will from now on. For newbies to using retinol, I'd highly recommend this products. 👍
No7 is a UK brand and widely available here. 🙂 I have no interest in this product as I use tretinoin but I never skip a Dr Dray video hehe! Thanks for being so educational and sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!
I’m so glad that you say that about the neck. Mine is so more sensitive than my face and can’t take a lot of the products that I use. I have a separate regimen for my neck
I love listening to you speak. And thank youuuu I HATE fragrance in skincare. I wish companies would understand consumers DO NOT want fragrance in products anymore. Period.
I feel like I was sitting in Grand Rounds at the University hospital I practiced at right out of school. Wow! Great educational video. Thanks for caring to bring us some knowledge. I am loving this new found Self care skin care. Thank you. Great video.
Yes, Dr. Dray's videos are like a detailed dermatology lecture I've attended in med school where the lecturer clearly explains the mode of action of a drug, but Dr. Dray does it in a way that even lay people would understand ❤️
Thanks for the tip of applying the moisturizer first, and then following with retinol. I've always heard it the other way around. I'll try it your way.
Thank you Dr D, I have started to use this product In December and I agree with that the instructions were great. I am new at using Retinol, but I was using their moisturizer and love it. Love your you tube info, you have given this 60 year old a lot of positive information. Keep up the good work.
I once put retinol on my neck. Won’t be doing that again. It was almost like a burn. Took ages to clear up! Just purchased the boots one after using Paula’s choice for years. Love to watch your video’s! I prefer to listen to your advice. 👍🏼
Thank you, there are so many choices. I've been using this No 7, and upon listening to your review of it, I will just stay with this. It doesn't irritate my skin, and goes on smooth requiring a very very small amount. 👍
I started using tretinoin as per Dr Dray advice and results are amazing. Also a lot of her recommended products work really well, she is really a blessing to YT with her knowledge, unlike all this beauty "gurus" xD
Thank you for this. You recommend a lot of products that are not available here in the UK but we have a wide range of products and this just helped me to decide what to start with. 👌🏻
Swear by No7, I've been using it for 9 years and now I am 39 with hardly any lines around my face although deeper on my forehead lol. The only annoying thing is the original intense serum in the white tube, the formula was changed and now it contains too much silicone and in many peoples, opinions is less effective. Thanks SOOOOOO much for this review, I bought this product after.
I've purchased this and have been using. I really do like it; I like the entire No.7 line really. Thanks for the product-specific information, you always dispell the hard-to-understand ingredients!! Love from CO, USA❤️❤️❤️
When I first tried adapalene my skin became extremely sensitive but once I started moisturizing first and using a balm around the corners of my mouth and eyes to form a protective barrier the sensitivity subsided. Now I can apply to bare skin. Hope that helps.
You mentioned that the face regiment shouldn't continue onto the neck, do you have suggestions on what products are good for lines, wrinkles & skin tags on the neck?
THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU ! this is the video i have been waiting for, a decent reccommended retinol that i can get in the u.k, i cant wait to try this.
I have used retinol products for about 3 months. I started using the No 7 about three weeks ago every other night. I have had no purging or irritation. I of course will buy this and hope over the next year to see results. But I am so glad I saw this video because it confirms it is not a gimmick.
@@aparnamenon262 I have not found this to be drying or irritating to my skin. I did not purge at all. My concern was wrinkles around my mouth area. While these did not disappear, I do feel they have been smoothed/less deep looking in appearance. My makeup applies and settles way better. I can't say that No 7 is the best out there. I had only been using retinol for 3 months so it is possible any other retinol would work too. But I really do like No 7 products because I am prone to breakout when trying new products and for some reason I don't have these issues with No 7 products.
I use the derma-e witch hazel cleanser for acne prone skin, I'm wondering if this retinol would be okay for my skin for nightly use? I've been using the Acure vitamin C serum as well. I'm wondering if this would dry my skin out.
I like this product, I have used Neutrogena in the past but wanted to try this product. My forehead did peel for a couple of weeks where with Neutrogena Retinol it did not. The N07 goes on easier spreads faster and I can tell a slight difference in my laugh lines
@@krystal3721 Absolutely! I used the Rapid Wrinkle repair in the gray bottles. Day and night formulas for yrs. I started using the formula in the gray jar and I really think it works better. I use to use prescription strength Retinol and it got so expensive I read up about Neutrogena and also Dr Dray has given it a positive review. N07 is a little more expensive but it is a tad bit stronger than Neutrogena..
Question - Your advice about moisturizing before Retin-A, would that also apply to someone using it for anti-aging without acne? I want to ensure it would not minimize the effect of the prescription.
Yes it would. Using moisturizer before the retin-a provides a barrier which reduces the irritation. After a while then try before the moisturizer for a better effect if your skin can take it.
Thank you thank you thank you! I saw an advert for this and was really hoping you had a review :) I love your videos and watch them anyway but so many products in the US aren't available in the UK / Ireland. Very excited to finally be trying a retinol.
Hi, Many thanks from the U.K.: Home of No.7. Unfortunately, it can be very difficult for us to get your products so I look for something that has the same basic ingredients. I'm very wary of using retinol products because I have very fair and sensitive skin but I have decided to take your advice about using vaseline...so far, so good! For those of us with sensitive skin, I suspect that that main sound is ping...the sound of the product hitting the waste-paper basket.
Many thanks for this review! My understanding is that if we start using retinol once a week we should avoid other products that could cause irritation. However, is this a rule only on the days we use the retinol or this applies for our whole everyday skincare routine?
Nearly finished my first retinol product...Cerave skin renewing retinol serum. So far so good 😃. Considering a retinaldehyde for my next phase in treatment. Perhaps from the Medik8 range as it’s available in the UK. Happy Monday all! ❤️

I will stick to Sunday Riley 6% retinol claim but is actually 1% pure retinol which is strong enough and the strongest you can get without a prescription.
I wish I'd known to moisturize FIRST because I used this product (on my forehead only) and moisturized AFTER and my skin burned/peeled horribly. Should have researched first rather than following the company's instructions lol. Thanks, Dr. Dray!!!

In other videos she says yes, that is best, because sunscreen is so difficult to remove (especially the water resistant type). That's why even though she herself only ever wears sunscreen and mascara she still does a thorough double cleanse every night.
Yes absolutely. I wear sunscreen and no makeup and double cleanse every night. First cleanse with oil cleanser then I use cerave hydrating cleanser after.
Omg, I had the worst reaction using a retinol the first time I used it! My entire face peeled for a week. It was so embarrassing, I had no idea what I was doing. haha You must have some very resilient skin!
@@lauramorris4632 whenever influencers are like "I use 0.2% retinol once a week to prevent irritation" I just think "wut?" because I can't relate to it. I don't know what factors into how much irritation is experienced: I do have dry skin and fragrance sensitivity (mainly citrus) but actives like retinol, AHAs, and BHAs have never bothered me. Niacinamide though does sting after shaving (at 10%) and vitamin C 30% probably irritates everyone. I do use retinaldehyde now though and that is probably less likely to cause irritation than retinol, maybe.
@@moose8762 yes, I think everyone is different! Just go with what works for you. I know everyone recommends and says that Cerave won't irritate your skin but I was using one of their PM moisturizers and it burned when I applied it. So weird! But I can put random moisturizers like Nivea on my face with no probs.
I’m really struggling to get many of the products you mention over here in Germany, especially when it comes to anti aging and thus retinol. I made an appointment with a dermatologist. Fingers crossed she’ll prescribe some good retinol to help me with my issues 🙏🏼 I guess if she doesn’t it’s safe to say that I have to age more and more because of some really stupid EU regulations 😔
This is a nice sunscreen as long as you don't mind chemical filters and fragrance in your sunscreen. It's not the best choice if you have sensitive skin or want to avoid fragrance in your skin care.
I like the No 7 body serum... sadly it's heavily fragranced. Feels great but I need to keep my nose pointed up towards the ceiling to avoid the scent while applying lol
I already watched all of your videos on Differin and they were so informative however I was still wondering: Can teens around 13 use Differin for mild acne? Or is that considered "too young" for a retinoid? Love your videos. Thank you so much for everything that you do! ❤

Lived in the UK for 15 yrs. Boots is a remowned, excellent dispensing chemist. During the 90s they started coming out with skin care and makeup lines..both excellent. Their lipstick is great.
Kim Lloyd-George Agreed, but Boots has had its own skincare and make up line for decades. Way back to the 1930s because even my grandma used their products. I was a Saturday girl on the Boots No.7 counter & that was in the late 1970s. Pity I did use not SPF or have Dr Dray back then. My now (very) mature skin would have thanked me! 😉😂
@@carrielamarr2845 Shocking you never used any, My mum did and her skin is amazing for her age! it was around when she was younger. You don't look that old
Boots???
I love the No7 line, it’s fantastic
I use this product and have found that mixing the serum with an equal amount of moisturiser (Cerave) avoids any irritation as advised by Nadine Baggot
I love Dr. Dray forever ❤️🤗 during the week she’s usually posting product reviews, educational videos from how to shop skincare in stores to teaching about active ingredients in creams, lotions and potions lol but not limited to and in the weekends she’s posting vlogs, food and fun stuff(s). 🌸❤️
Outside of this video's topic but I want to tell you that you look lovely! I don't know what it is but you look kind of happier and glowing, wish you the best Dr. Dray✨❣️
That could have something to do with it as well. 🤣. GREAT video!!!
What moisturizers are you using? Do you apply them together or separately? Thanks!
Michelle Kelly Mignon Alverson yes! I’d love to know this too please! 😄💐
@@ItsSuzanR You want to know what moisturizers I use?
@@ItsSuzanR On damp skin I use rosacare. Fabulous for rosacea! I let it dry. Then I apply differin. I let it sink in. Then I apply Cosrx snail mucin. (The cream not the essence). It's working pretty well for me. I'm using differin every night now. Over the course of 3 months I notice my skin is not near as dry as it used to be. My redness and capillaries has become minimal too. I use DRMTLGY untinted sunscreen during the day.
I dont understand why I always got irritation in using retinol, but now i am using retinA ,it totally fine
We can definitely get this in the UK. No.7 is the brand of our main 'drugstore' called Boots the Chemist. The No 7 brand has been around since 1935 !!
Val Garrett Boots is now owned by Walgreens which is an American pharmacy chain !,
Sheila Winn Yes that’s right. Since 2014 I think.
Where can we get it ? On the internet ❤ du you have a link ?
I'm in the UK and I use this retinol serum. Ive got sensitive skin and my skin tolerates thus just fine. I built up to every night over a month and I'm now using it every night and I really enjoy it ☺
@@epiphgd4302 no, I just put the Retinol on first, let it sink in for 5 to 10 minutes then follow with moisturiser. Because of how it's formulated it's fine for me
@@rachelhelman2098 Why do you need moisturiser as well
Hi Dr Dray, Thank you for this review.
What do you think of the No.7 product line in general? I used their vitamin C and I noticed brighter skin right away.
Really enjoyed your review, very thorough and informative and great to see a review of a product in the UK!
Hi just a query when you say Boots Retinol do you mean No 7 advanced retinol 1.5% or another product by Boots ?
@@jitendragurung9104 yes, that's the one. I should have been more specific.
No7 is a UK brand and widely available here. 🙂 I have no interest in this product as I use tretinoin but I never skip a Dr Dray video hehe! Thanks for being so educational and sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!
Please can you tell me where you get tretinoin from in the UK? I’m really wanting to try it 😊
NowThenHannah Wayne Goss and Pampered Wolf, both are You Tubers living in the UK, get it from Dermatica (I may have spelled that wrong).

Thanks for this video. I recently started purchasing No.7 from our Target store. I have been happy with their skincare and makeup so far.
I've been using cerave resurfacing retinol for months now, so far so good. Thanks Dr. Dray all your skin tips.
Does the Boots 7 have more retinol than CeraVe?
As a skincare and sunscreen JUNKIE I love this channel soooo much. Ppl can’t believe I’m 51
@Leo L I was 32 years ago Lololo I turned 52 in April 😱
I’m so glad that you say that about the neck. Mine is so more sensitive than my face and can’t take a lot of the products that I use. I have a separate regimen for my neck
For me it's the opposite. My neck can take literally anything and my face is sensitive to everything under the sun.
I love listening to you speak.
And thank youuuu I HATE fragrance in skincare. I wish companies would understand consumers DO NOT want fragrance in products anymore. Period.
they are necessary in some products in order to mask the smell of some ingredients otherwise consumers wouldn't buy them.
Thanks for reviewing this, I’ve been using it since it came out so good to hear your thoughts as it’s not the cheapest
THANK YOU Dr Dray for reviewing products we can find in the UK. Thank you thank you thank you
I once put retinol on my neck. Won’t be doing that again. It was almost like a burn. Took ages to clear up! Just purchased the boots one after using Paula’s choice for years. Love to watch your video’s! I prefer to listen to your advice. 👍🏼
I’m a year late to this comment but may I ask which retinol it was that burned your neck?
I put this on my neck fine
9:15 I'm going to put it on my collarbone 🔥
Thank you, there are so many choices. I've been using this No 7, and upon listening to your review of it, I will just stay with this. It doesn't irritate my skin, and goes on smooth requiring a very very small amount. 👍
Your skin looks AMAZING Dr Dray, glowing 💖
I started using tretinoin as per Dr Dray advice and results are amazing. Also a lot of her recommended products work really well, she is really a blessing to YT with her knowledge, unlike all this beauty "gurus" xD
I like the No7 brand, my mom uses it a lot
Its the best in the UK! We all love it

Thank you for this. You recommend a lot of products that are not available here in the UK but we have a wide range of products and this just helped me to decide what to start with. 👌🏻
i just bought it now, i watched your video prior to opening the product. hope it will work well with my skin. thanks
Love No. 7 products! I have been sensitive to Retinol but going to give this one a whirl. Thank you! Happy new week.
thanks for watching
@@DrDrayzday My pleasure! I just love your channel. Great energy you have there.
Omg I’ve been taking my retinol to my neck thinking it’s the right thing to do!

Blessed Monday, God bless you. So wise, we are fortunate to be updated so often on your knowledge. Thank you. 💕
I have used retinol products for about 3 months. I started using the No 7 about three weeks ago every other night. I have had no purging or irritation. I of course will buy this and hope over the next year to see results. But I am so glad I saw this video because it confirms it is not a gimmick.
Hey, did you continue using the product through the year? How has your experience been?
Great info Dr. Dray I have learned so much from you, you are wonderful I really dont use anything now without checking on you first. Thank you 👍👍👍👍
Can't wait till our doctor Dray will reach 1milion subscribers 🙌 ❤ 😍 💖 💕
I like this product, I have used Neutrogena in the past but wanted to try this product. My forehead did peel for a couple of weeks where with Neutrogena Retinol it did not. The N07 goes on easier spreads faster and I can tell a slight difference in my laugh lines
I'm wanting to try the neutrogena next. I'm on CeraVe resurfacing now. Did you like the neutrogena & would use it again?
@@krystal3721 Absolutely! I used the Rapid Wrinkle repair in the gray bottles. Day and night formulas for yrs. I started using the formula in the gray jar and I really think it works better. I use to use prescription strength Retinol and it got so expensive I read up about Neutrogena and also Dr Dray has given it a positive review. N07 is a little more expensive but it is a tad bit stronger than Neutrogena..
@@teresaliggett6528 that's cool. I'm excited to try it next
@@krystal3721 Good luck with it. I really think you will like it 🙂
Thanks for explaining purging, I was so afraid of incorporating differin because of that
Question - Your advice about moisturizing before Retin-A, would that also apply to someone using it for anti-aging without acne? I want to ensure it would not minimize the effect of the prescription.
Yes it would. Using moisturizer before the retin-a provides a barrier which reduces the irritation. After a while then try before the moisturizer for a better effect if your skin can take it.
What kind of moisturiser can we use?
@@fazifazi123456 cerave moisturizing lotion works good!
Thank you thank you thank you! I saw an advert for this and was really hoping you had a review :) I love your videos and watch them anyway but so many products in the US aren't available in the UK / Ireland. Very excited to finally be trying a retinol.
Happy Monday Dr Dray...your eye lashes are looking Amazing, there so long!....see you tomorrow x💙🤩
What do you think about the inkey list retinol? Could you review it ?
Is it better than Differin, or just another brand? TY
I bought this product a couple weeks ago and I think it's working well. I started using it every other night as suggested and haven't had any issues.
Hi,
Many thanks from the U.K.: Home of No.7.
Unfortunately, it can be very difficult for us to get your products so I look for something that has the same basic ingredients.
I'm very wary of using retinol products because I have very fair and sensitive skin but I have decided to take your advice about using vaseline...so far, so good!
For those of us with sensitive skin, I suspect that that main sound is ping...the sound of the product hitting the waste-paper basket.
i am so onto No7. Reviewing two serums next month.
My husband joined the subscribers list, I asked why, he said to know what to gift you, you seem watching this Chanel with passion 😅
That is soooo cuteeeee
Many thanks for this review! My understanding is that if we start using retinol once a week we should avoid other products that could cause irritation. However, is this a rule only on the days we use the retinol or this applies for our whole everyday skincare routine?
i am so happy to see that your getting better doctor
What happened??
Gorl, your skin is on point in this video!
Nearly finished my first retinol product...Cerave skin renewing retinol serum. So far so good 😃. Considering a retinaldehyde for my next phase in treatment. Perhaps from the Medik8 range as it’s available in the UK. Happy Monday all! ❤️

I bought this product today only on my friend’s recommendation and came here to see the review… will try this and get back to you again with my experience 😊
How’s it working for you now
I will stick to Sunday Riley 6% retinol claim but is actually 1% pure retinol which is strong enough and the strongest you can get without a prescription.
I just bought this and started it tonight! I couldn't find any of your other retinol recommendations (I live outside the U.S.)
I wish I'd known to moisturize FIRST because I used this product (on my forehead only) and moisturized AFTER and my skin burned/peeled horribly. Should have researched first rather than following the company's instructions lol. Thanks, Dr. Dray!!!
Sounds No7 prepared this just for Dr. Dray!
Thank you for this review Dr Dray. I have been using No 7 products for a while now and just love them. Love the skincare as well as the cosmetics. I would love to see a more extensive review of the products from you as a dermatologist. Thank you.

Hello, dr. Dray! Thank you for your priceless advice you keep giving to us! Sadly I can’t find many of the products you tell us about here in Russia. Could you please share your thoughts on L’Oréal’s Revitalift since it’s one of a few options with retinol available here and the USA.
Another great vid!
If I only use sunscreen, and no makeup, do I need to do an oil double cleanse everyday?
I would say yes, because the oil helps break down the sunscreen.
Retinol and retinaldehyde have never caused any irritation on my skin so I just use the highest concentration available over the counter 🤷🏽♂️
Lucky you lol
@@lauramorris4632 the CeraVe lotion stings my face but the cream and PM are fine
What are your thoughts on no 7 protect and perfect advance day and night cream and their serum?
I used the serum and it really works on the lines on my forehead.
Thank you so much for all the education you give so freely 🥰
Can you please review the Olay regenerist whip SPF 40 ? it's seems like a delightful SPF formula that's available readily in North America.
I could have sworn I saw her do that already (confused).
It is. I used it on my 9 year old. She has super sensitive skin. Then again you don't need a lot. Usually a little tiny bit it's all you need. But he/she might be even more sensitive than my daughter.
