    I am age 60 and my dermatologist says I don't "need" tretinoin because I am doing great with "topicals", so, he did not provide me with a RX. So, I began to use the otc ROC capsules. I can use them every night without irritation. I use Timeless 20% vitamin C every morning and evening and various sunscreens everyday. Occasionally I add the Ordinary Azelaic Acid suspension at 10% and Salysilic Acid from 2-4% up to Occasionally 20%. My skin loves salysilic and azelaic acids! That's about it short of various moisturizers on my neck & chest and sometimes up onto my cheeks. (I'm prone to milia with thick moisturizers on my upper cheeks and around eyes). I adore your channel and rely on the trusted information you share!!❤

    Hey Dr Idriss! Love your videos they’re so educational for me as a 20-year-old girlie who’s into skincare. Just one question. If retinol promotes collagen production, and hypertrophic scars are caused by excessive collagen promotion, does using retinol increase the risk of getting hypertrophic acne scars?

      The Glucose Goddess, a biochemist not a medical doctor, offered scientific research (2015) that eating meals in a specific order will help avoid big glucose spikes. The explanation from the study shows a 75% reduction in glycation. Check it out.
      Drink water with a tablespoon of vinegar (30 minutes before a meal)
      1. Start with veggies/salad (fiber)
      2. Protein + fat
      3. Carbs (rice, fruit )

    • @teri2466
      @teri2466 3 дні тому +2

      @@carolsarazzara Something may have been lost in the translation, but that was only a pilot study. A subsequent 2017 study by the same authors, which was also preliminary, found incremental glucose peaks were 53% and 54% lower in the carbs last meal, rather than the 73% found in the 2015 study. Also, vinegar pre-meal was not part of these studies.
      The study participants had type 2 diabetes. The authors wrote, "Limitations of our study include the small sample size and unclear generalizability to meals with different macronutrient compositions and patient populations including those with type 1 diabetes and prediabetes."

    Can you do a video on anti-aging for hands? I’m 30 and work as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital and am constantly washing my hands. So I worry about premature aging especially because wrinkly hands run in my family. Thanks! - your fellow skin nerd 🤓

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 5 днів тому +1

      Any hand cream that you feel suits and sooths your hands will do for daily applications. High percentage of Urea and glycerin is usually good indicator that cream will work well skin nourishing and protecting wise. Night care is essential. Diaper rash creams are great (sooths, nourish, contain Zinc), creams with ceramides, thick and nourishing also. Vaseline based ones are also good, but on damp hands. Otherwise, oils sits on top of dry skin, doing nothing. You might want to invest in pair of hand mask gloves and to wear them several nights per week to boost the efficiency of creams and products you use on your hands. Finally, you can and should use retinol on your hands as well as a part of night routine. If any pigmentation appears, experiment with exfoliating acids as well (AHAs). For me, combination of glycerin and lime juice is great (home remedy) for brightening and nourishing. Panthenol doesn't do anything for me, but it may be great for you. Good luck!

    I smiled when the sunscreen part came up. I’m a girl living in a Nordic country where winter lasts from October to March and often stretches into April. If I can apply SPF 50 during November, December, and January-when the sun rises at 8 a.m. and sets at 4 p.m. (and I barely see it since I’m sitting in the office on workdays)-then anyone can! I really have to thank you and your educational videos for helping me build this habit. The only issue is that pharmacies don’t sell much SPF during winter because they assume people don’t need it.

      Not her, but the same things that work on the face should work on pits, but unlike the face armpits gather more moisture because of the touching skin, so please take that into account, that area can become more sentized when using acids but acids should help with not only skin brighting but body odor. what strength/kind is up to your own skin, I use lume/mando deodorant not for lightning ( i like the scents tbh) but I've heard it has helped with lighting, but I have also heard people using the ordinary aha toner (better priced and non-scented) for brighting.

    How can one still exfoliate ones face if you should not exfoliate and use a retinoid in the same night? If the best option is low strength every night, that leaves no nights for exfoliating

    What’s your expertise opinion about The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid Emulsion 2%. I looked at ingredients and “retinoid” is about the 8th ingredient. Is it good or not. I used to use the L’Oréal “pure retinol” 0.3% in the blue bottle but stopped using when I saw that ingredient was not in the top 10 lol. Which is the best?

      @@soniawootton3795 yes, the most potent. You wouldn’t want your retinol to be too potent. You don’t need to check how potent it is by the ingredient order when you know the percentage. If retinol was the first ingredient you would burn off your face.

Also these retinol tips were super helpful and I'll be looking out for your products here in the UK once taxes have come down for sure!

    I am in my mid 20s. If only I see this before trying retinol, which is just last month. I started with the lowest percentage, I am using COSRX .1% retinol, I should pick .3% next if I finish that. So far there is no irritation, only that my skin feels drier than before.
