Kalopsia (The name of the second song) is the delusion in which things appear more beautiful than they are. You can see the character all prancing about and carefree, feeling no real consequence to what they do. It is a little sad, but the character is very much out of touch with reality.
I thought Kalopsia was Pestilence of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. He spreads disease, killing man. War killed him at the end... Note that Pestilence destroys everything except the light that has God written on it at 3:50.

*The way I see it is like this: This video represents human emotions The first guy obviously had something traumatic happen in his life. He doesnt even care about what's going on, and he gets dragged to hell. He starts to change and wake up. He puts on a happy smile for everyone around him, but underneath that he is a dark mess. He finally snaps. He doesnt care anymore, but this time he still has some feelings. He doesnt give a shit about anyone else, and he spits in life's face. After a while, he feels like he is missing something. Like there is more out there to conquer. He doesnt just spit in life's face, he burns with a fiery vengeance, and he will stop at nothing (even taking his own life) for that rush. Then, something beyond him happens. A major event in his life, so strong that all of his true colors are shown at once. They are all destroyed, sending him back to that shambled, careless body he was before. Being dragged to hell without a care in the world.*

Holy crap!!!! My first time to hear anything by QOTSA.... I am jaw dropped. The video, there aren't even words, totally trippy. And the vibe with Josh's vocals...👍 I have to listen to If I Had a Tail some more.
The only thing I did not like about this album, was that there were not 10 more songs! It was so amazing I wanted more! It is so good it had the potential to be a monster double album, like "The Wall"....can't wait for the next album !
They start recording the follow up to "...Like Clockwork" at the end of this year. Homme said that they've already got the songs, they just need to record them. My guess is that "...Like Clockwork" could've easily been a double album, but they were sensible and decided to just take half the songs and put them onto "...Like Clockwork". That way, they could bring out a sequel album using the other "songs" and to be honest, I prefer this approach. I'd much rather have two solid albums with a one to two year gap between them, than a twenty song, two hour, one-hit wonder; it just gives us fans something else to look forward to in the future.
Magnum Pe-hew He said he wanted to do a thing like Iggy Pop did with The Idiot/Lust for Life, both being released within a year and one being the downer and the other being the upper. It didn't quite work out to that short of a time frame, but it's still short compared to the previous gap.
New to queens. That song gets me as well. I absolutely can't get enough of Lost my headache... regular john (2004) lineup version.. I enjoy a lot of their live stuff up until about 2014 seems to get almost Happy sounding to Poppy for me
@@victor-non-victimbear-652 This is probably their darkest album. Some songs sound up beat until you pay attention the the lyrics. Like I sat by the ocean, or smooth sailing. Keep your eyes peeled, Kalypsia,Vampire of Time and Memory, I Appear Missing..., and ... Like Clockwork have some of the most depressing lyrics for anyone who knows and experienced what Josh goes through
EVERYONE! The badass guy in Keep Your Eyes Peeled is Josh himself! 1.) The guy that kills everyone is obviously Death and at the start of KYEP the badass guy punches him in the face. This represents Josh cheating death with his KNEE OPERATION. Which leads onto my second point... 2.) At 5:11 you can clearly see the guy is wearing a LEG BRACE which backs up my first point quite nicely. I'm pretty sure all of the characters are suppose to represent Josh in different ways but this one was the most apparent.
I love this album, the songs, the artwork, and this video immensely. I've been a huge fan ever since SFTD and I've seen them perform 3 times. This album meant soo much to me when it came out it was silly. And after surviving my own incredibly near death experience my appreciation for this album and Josh as a human being has expanded tenfold, but why oh why did they have to edit "I Appear Missing". That song, especially it's climax and resolution, is IMHO the most beautiful and humble bit of art Josh has ever created. It is true that the most profoundly moving art comes from tragedy and I believe and am just one of many who are so very grateful that Josh's tragedy was not a complete sentence but rather his coma was just a comma.
I love this entire compilation, but... If I Had A Tail is one of the catchiest goddamn tunes to ever grace my ears with its timeless presence. All-Time Favorites list engaged.
I just spent a week at Canyonlands and this video captures the Desert vibe so so well. I've listened to this album to the point I know what song comes next and it should be listened to as a whole.
The first ones famine. Stranded in a desert, scavenging animals everywhere and the guy himself "hungers" to reach the city/sun. The second one is death. Wearing a reapers guise, bringing death to those around and dancing around the "light of god". The third one is conquest. He's constantly picking fights, even staring at the face of death and instead attacking it. At first there doesn't seem to be a reason for it all, but he simply wants to conquer anyone and everyone. In the end he's beaten by a "pig" which represents the nature of conquest and the greed behind it. The fourth one is war. She's bringing destruction to everything around her, setting the world on fire. On the most basic of levels, she basically starts a gang war. In the end, all that matters is the destruction from the war she wrought and she destroys her car and herself to destroy her enemies and reach that goal. Then it ends off with a billboard with "The end is really ****ing nigh" and an apocalyptic sun rising up and calling them all to it, followed by the destruction of the city, and then it starts all over again. I can see how it'd be based on the four horsemen. vOv
I thought the four horsemen of the apocalypse were Death, Famine, War and Pestilence. Where does Conquest come in in all of this? Is Conquest and Pestilence the same?
death, famine, war, and conquest are the original horsemen but the christian interpretation replaced conquest with pestilence. most Catholics still use the original ones though. the quote from the bible of conquest is "Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.-Revelation 6"
nicholas barshaw There's a man going round takin' names. And he decides who to free and who to blame.Everybody won't be treated all the same. There'll be a golden ladder reaching down...When the man comes around.
Something I recently found out, the phrase "the Crack of Doom" is a reference to the Biblical Judgement Day, when the sky splits. It fits, not only as a pun, but also as an allusions
I don't care how old I get, Queens is so legacy for this video. I cannot stop watching or listening to this when I drink or smoke just to chill! I know oddball this is my chilling music and I listen to it without judgment in my home. Good Vibes!!! #420ongod #420ongodfamily #OGF
My brother and homie were trippin and asked me for a good video and I recommend this because I’d just watched for the first time too. Needless to say they were equally disturbed and in awe/appreciative. Just now I showed my mom and she wants to hear more 😃
Still amazing song have like 50+ plays on my Itunes not including me watching this over and over, lol. It's got this really gritty rock sound too it, while also having homage to Bowie and Eno.
And really dig how Josh gives credit to every contributor on the album,.....he turns the wheel but realizes there's no ship without a crew,...gotta love the maturity and progression in his vision.
Did anyone notice the "Your face here" written at the bottom of the shoe at 14:09 in the video? This could be a separate joke, or it could be a reference to Era Vulgaris. On one page of the album art pamphlet for CDs of Era Vulgaris, there is an image which says "your face here" as well. I think it is unlikely that these are connected, but did anybody else notice this?
Cole Yudelson It's actually possible. Boneface is a big fan of QOTSA, so he may have that album or maybe he borrowed some details from previous albums to design this one.
as a recovering heroin addict the first song and video accompanying it reminds me a lot of life as a junkie, and the process of waking up sick and scoring your first bag.. im probably just assosciating this with something thats so familiar to me, but part of me wonders if it was made like that on purpose.
I already knew that it was a continuation of the videos I listen to Qotsa since 2003 I really like your group I hope you continue like this and never change your style of music I love your group I hope you arrive on a world tour to be able to see them live someday.
We know that time loops because of the ending, so I think all four characters are aware of the looping. None of them seem to value their own lives, they all seemed resigned to death and misery but express it in different ways. Bandaged Man just floats through apathetically, waiting for the next loop to start. Masked Man relishes the time he has alive, though he spends that time alive completely alone. Helmet Man just wants to fuck shit up and seems to crave pain, both inflicting and receiving it. Car (Wo?)man seems to be similar to Helmet, though I get the feeling their attacks are more focused, maybe people that wronged them in the past? They all know they can't escape the cycle, so they just do whatever they want in the meantime.
Possibly one of the best albums of all time, no exaggeration

A set of lyrics for the clipped versions in the video:
Calling all comas,
Prisoner on the loose
Description:
A spitting image of me
Except for a heart-shaped hole where the hope runs out
Shock me awake
Tear me apart
Pinned like a note in a hospital gown
Prison of sleep
Deepened now
A rabbit hole never to be found
Again
Where are you hiding, my love?
Cast off like a stone
Feelings, raw and exposed when I'm out of control
Pieces were stolen from me
But dare I say, given away
Watching the water give in
As I go down the drain
I appear missing now
I go missing,
No longer exist
One day I hope
I'm someone you'd met
Shock me awake
Tear me apart
Pinned like a note in a hospital gown
Deeper I sleep
Further down
A rabbit hole never to be found
It's only falling in love
Because you hit the ground
I never lie
To myself
Tonight.
Rose, tinted eyes
Color my sorrow
A shade of 'why?
Bye bye black balloon
See you real soon
Wave bye bye
Bye bye
Why were you so sad
What have they done?
Forget those mindless baboons
They're off playing God
Is it wonderful?
Don't look, just keep your eyes peeled
Thoughtless, trapped in my minefield
Shotgun, never behind the wheel anymore
Danger, monsters of smoke and mirror
Slowly, can one so lost be found?
And I know, you will never believe
I play as though I'm alright
If life is but a dream, then
Wake me up
Fallen leaves realize they are no friend of autumn
The view from Hell is blue sky
So ominously blue
Daydream until all the blue is gone
And I know you'll never believe
I play as though I'm alright
If life is but a dream,
Wake me
Gitchy, gitchy
Ooh la la
Da doo ron ron
You won't get far
I'm machine
I'm obsolete
In the land of the free
Lobotomy
I wanna suck, I wanna lick
I want to cry and I want to spit
Tears of pleasure
Tears of pain
They trickle down your face the same
It's how you look
Not how you feel
A city of glass
With no heart
If I had a tail
I'd own the night
If I had a tail
I'd swat the flies
Yeah, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Yeah, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Gitchy, gitchy
Ooh la la
Da doo ron ron
It won't get far
Animals in
The midnight zone
When you own the world
You're always home
Get your hands dirty
Roll up them sleeves
Brainwashed or true believers?
Buy flash cars
Diamond rings
Expensive holes to bury things
I'm machine
I'm obsolete
In the land of the free
Immortality
If I had a tail
I'd own the place
If I had a tail
I'd swat the flies
Oh-oh-oh, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Oh-oh-oh, oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Far beyond the desert road
Where everything ends up
So good the empty space, mental erase
Forgive, forgot
Heal them, like fire from a gun
Kneeling, my god is the Sun
Heal them, with fire from above
Kneeling, my god is the Sun
I don't know what time it was
I don't wear a watch
So good to be an ant who crawls
Atop a spinning rock (beyond)
Heal them, like fire from a gun
Kneeling, my god is the Sun
Heal them, with fire from above
Kneeling, my god is the Sun
Heal them, like fire from a gun
Kneeling, my god is the Sun
Healing, kneeling
Godless heathens
Godless heathens always waltz on the sky

This montage was created by a British artist. It set the scene perfectly for one of the darkest, and best, rock albums - in my opinion.
Bring my memory plz, I want listen to this album again!
After 6 years this is even more beautiful and touching. I wish i could give it 1000 thumbs up more.
I love the transition from Keep your eyes peeled to If I had a tail to My God is the Sun.
God this was fuckin' brilliant. I remember when it came out I anticipated each new video of the 4. So glad we have them all now in order in a full video. My God is the Sun is so amazing and a fitting culmination to these godless heathens.
It is so good it had the potential to be a monster double album, like "The Wall"....can't wait for the next album !
and thoes wherent even the full songs x)
I get emotional when I hear I appear missing.
Me too
Don’t turn it into your alarm wake up song. It’s ruined :(
I saw them live recently for the Villains of circumstance tour and they played it. I was so happy ❤🤘
New to queens. That song gets me as well.
I absolutely can't get enough of
Lost my headache... regular john (2004) lineup version..
I enjoy a lot of their live stuff up until about 2014 seems to get almost Happy sounding to Poppy for me
@@victor-non-victimbear-652
This is probably their darkest album. Some songs sound up beat until you pay attention the the lyrics. Like I sat by the ocean, or smooth sailing.
Keep your eyes peeled, Kalypsia,Vampire of Time and Memory, I Appear Missing..., and ... Like Clockwork have some of the most depressing lyrics for anyone who knows and experienced what Josh goes through
I love this whole album. I love the video too.
They are like Foo Fighters crossed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I like this album too!
Erika Peluso of course they are.. :D
+Erika Peluso In case you missed it - Dave Grohl is listed in the end credits of the video as a member of QOTSA.
He looks the most like Josh too,
and yeah,
I guess all of them were him, the first guy "rose from the dead"
I noticed the resemblence on my first watch but i didnt know all of the back story to put it together like that.
@@himagnamukherjee9382 I knew he looked like him too
I think he later revealed he actually had MRSA and not knee surgery
Well put
You have pictured the emotion’s of depression, the dread, anxiety & feeling of hopelessness very well.
This is one of the most awesome things I have ever seen
I love this entire compilation, but... If I Had A Tail is one of the catchiest goddamn tunes to ever grace my ears with its timeless presence. All-Time Favorites list engaged.
These videos are so entertaining and it's nice that they pay like a quarter of the price or less to make something better than MTV. I love this band.
I just started listening to this, having picked thru some of their hits across the discography, and I simply love this album!!!
I just spent a week at Canyonlands and this video captures the Desert vibe so so well. I've listened to this album to the point I know what song comes next and it should be listened to as a whole.
I just finished primary school when this came out, and look at it now, I've graduated. That's a mighty long time.
I can see how it'd be based on the four horsemen. vOv
I'd say conquest getting killed by war after being beaten by greed is pretty fitting, too.
I love the story carried out between all the separate songs
My brother and homie were trippin and asked me for a good video and I recommend this because I’d just watched for the first time too. Needless to say they were equally disturbed and in awe/appreciative. Just now I showed my mom and she wants to hear more 😃
This is the autumn of my 37 n I woke up. Homme you write and preform from a place I just stepped on to. Thank you REALLY. Change my state.
Seeing QOTSA in March, so excited!
No idea, probably NIN
Suzzanne Hodge They do a coinflip before each gig to decide who plays first.
Oh! Haha thank you!
I love that transition from "Keep Your Eyes Peeled" to "If I Had a Tail"
chills at 4:42 - greatest song in a long time
I was thinking exactly the same thing
Keep your eyes peeled at 4:42 captures so many perfections across all rock genres and its subgenres it's mindblowing.
So freaking good...this band is unbelievable...
If you get the chance to see QotSA live this tour, please do! You won't regret. They're in perfect form right now. QotSA at their best!
some are entertainers, others are ARTISTS! this really is brilliant both musically and visually
This is perfect... I don't even have any words...
Love this too much.
I fully enjoy this scrap-book like animation. Well done!
I have to see these guys live...One of my favorite bands..
Been years since this has been released and it's still one of my favourites
Did anyone notice the "Your face here" written at the bottom of the shoe at 14:09 in the video? This could be a separate joke, or it could be a reference to Era Vulgaris. On one page of the album art pamphlet for CDs of Era Vulgaris, there is an image which says "your face here" as well. I think it is unlikely that these are connected, but did anybody else notice this?
Cole Yudelson It's actually possible. Boneface is a big fan of QOTSA, so he may have that album or maybe he borrowed some details from previous albums to design this one.
yes
Holy shit
thats hilarious omg
Back again. I see something new every time I watch this. Thank you production team, Boneface and Liam and my boys. Sending love always
This is probably my favourite band! I've been listening to them for about 12 years now.
20 years now, hopefully.
Artwork: Boneface
Animation: Liam Brazier
as a recovering heroin addict the first song and video accompanying it reminds me a lot of life as a junkie, and the process of waking up sick and scoring your first bag.. im probably just assosciating this with something thats so familiar to me, but part of me wonders if it was made like that on purpose.
Praying that your recovery continues. I lost 2 cousins to heroin. Stay at it. Great things lie ahead, brother.
This is such an underrated album. This is a masterpiece.
Avid qotsa listener, I've been saving g this album since it's debut because I wanted something new to savor and today is the day, Luke clockwork
Finally a video that sums them all up for me in order
This whole album and video is so symbolic it blows my mind what a genius lyricist josh is
This is one of the best things that I've seen. Ever.
This is the best music video I have seen in years. Captivating.
Qotsa gets better and better, got all the albums and listen everyday, this is my life´s soundtrack
This is one of my favourite pieces of art. Very inspiring.
this might just be the best piece of genius I´ve seen and heard so far
Just love the artwork! It fits the music absolutely perfectly.
Best 15 min ever.
QOTSA rule......... just perfect music for me...Practice makes perfect and all of these guys started at lease twenty five years ago. Big respect
Best 15 minutes of my life.
I would love to see these characters and this world explored more in future albums/ artwork, their so cool.
Эта, не побоюсь этого слова, одна из самых лучших вещей которую я слышал за всю свою жизнь, поверьте, а слушал и слышал я больше чем достаточно
Согласен, один из лучших их альбомов
QOTSA one of the best bands ever!! keeps surprising me every album and gets better, hope to see them in Mexico this time!!!
kings...still love em...alluring, strange, fascinating music indeed.

We were quite a spectacle, weren't we? Quite a spectacle, indeed.
Very well done. Saw someone mention it was like an Akira/greaser apocalypse. Seemed like it, especially with the teddy bear.
The greatest music video of all time. Period. . (extra period)
A cool detail at 0:21: you can see a "wanted" poster of the Keep Your Eyes Peeled character nailed to the pole
Utterly brilliant.
bone face is a truly artist.
I didn't discover this album til summer of 2015, but I listened to it that whole summer and had a new favorite song every week.
It truly is one of those albums.
Saw them last night.. it was more than awesome!!!
