Kelvin is the 1UZFE guru. I don't think I've ever heard anyone else explain the existence much less the purpose of the throttle dashpot / dampener. Certainly not useless information to us 1UZFE owners.
I accidentally dropped it down in the engine bay and can’t recover it… is it possible you have one i can buy from you? 1995 sc400 with the cap as well i broke that doing a valve cover gasket replacement 😅 i looked on ebay and couldn’t find the part at all
Hey Kelvin this video could not have come at a more perfect time I've been wondering what they are, I have the throttle body with two dampeners my question though, is secondary dampener suppose to move when you open the throttle or is it suppose to stay stationary and only the primary one moves?
Hi Kelvin. Always find your videos an excellent source of information so thank you for that. Can I ask, would you advise keeping the dampers/pots and ensuring they work or can I remove them? Just finishing up a ucf10 uz on a manual bmw gearbox in a bmw for street an track driving.
Nope. We have done plenty now. Our week didn't go to plan with couriers not delivering connectors for this weeks loom so Jason started into yours, its now ready to have the covering put onto it
Dear Kelvin, for the 1UZ the gaskets for the plenum seem to be difficult to get. Toyota told me I have to wait 2 months for them. Were it possible to use paper gaskets or just black RTV instead? I guess my starter has sucked some salt water :-)
I only ever use the stock gaskets which I just brought a heap of so chances are that's why toyota are low. Making paper ones might be ok if you are good at making gaskets.
@@CartuneNZ I'll give the paper gaskets a try. I made them from 0.5 mm paper what is the original thickness. I gave them more with as the metal gastets. As wide as the mating surfaces are. The AFR at idle will tell me if i was sucessful. But a boat doesn't see much idle :-)
Yeah. You’ll get him into v8s. My last favorite engine was Jeep 4.0. Next to the 1uz the 4.0 inline 6 is a huge turd with a flat tappet cam and no aftermarket parts
Well what’s funny is that much like your “ fruit cups“ there are the style that have this hole but not that one , never having both holes naturally but if those “ fruit cups” spend enough money they could certainly have both holes created , lol.
Hey Kelvin, do you have any info out there regarding the "4th solenoid delete" mod? I know there was talk on the forums a few years back about disconnecting the 4th solenoid on A340E transmissions which allows the car to launch a bit harder. Seems like a risky thing to do, wasn't sure if it's something you know of or would recommend against for transmission longevity
They are referring to the line pressure solenoid, which our manual shift boxes dont control so are effectively removed however I prefer proper management where I can fine tune the line pressure to suit the drivers requirements. I'd never disconnect on a normal road car.

I almost called this another useless information video , but as you know its only useless until you need it. Cheers Kelvin
You make the best 1uz content and knowledge across the entire internet to be honest.
Does removing the dampener cause idle issues?
Can do, toyota fitted the dampeners as they tested better running with them fitted. Its noticeable when tuning aftermarket ecus on the dyno.

Can you do a video of pros and cons of 1 and 3uz which is better and why one would be better for certain applications
This is church my friend :)
The Church of UZ? haha. Cheers Kelvin

Do the dampers still work if the cover is missing ?
Never-mind, I check they do
Kelvin, I'm guessing later dbw throttle bodies eliminate the dashpot (dampner)? Even if we drive from the wrong side of the car?
Yes, the DBW with dashpot is a programmed setting by the ecu to control the closing of the throttle body. Cheers Kelvin

Thanks for the compliment. I prefer to have the dampeners fitted and working in most cases.
Will my engine loom be your first for 1uz left hand drive?
Nope. We have done plenty now. Our week didn't go to plan with couriers not delivering connectors for this weeks loom so Jason started into yours, its now ready to have the covering put onto it

whats the part # for the fruit salad?
LOL yes V8 are the king
Cheers for the compliment.
I think Jason is a 6 pack JZ but identifies as a UZ V8 while at work
good thoughts. He keeps saying the JZ is smooth, yet he's not so smooth himself. Haha. Cheers Kelvin

You don't want me driving on the right side of the road. I would have to learn how first.
O wait the left hand side
Im glad you get my humour, oh wait for you its humor. haha
I’ve got 2 drivers licenses for right and 1 for the left side of the road. 3 countries 3 continent driver’s licenses for both sides
First
well done. Glad to have you watching. Cheers Kelvin
So the fruit salad isn't fruit salad after you eat it?
Pretty sure the fruit salad becomes your business after its eaten.
What’s your email? I have a question maybe you can help me with in my 92Ucf10 1UZ. With crank no start problems that keeps reoccurring
