Same engine in our 2000 LS400. The symptoms are that after a brake job where the battery was disconnected to replace worn pad sensors, that on first start up the car barely idled and threw 1125 and 1128 codes. Rev'd it an it finally idled at 1500 rpm but there was noise from the throttle control motor, clattering that eventually evened out after 30 seconds but still there. The TCM is replacement with less than a year and just a few thousand miles on it. Car itself is only at 100k miles. With the key in run, the pedal will rotate the butterfly in the throttle body smoothly and smartly, as long as you keep the pedal from going back to the idle position for more than a half second. Moved pedal for at least sixty seconds while a friend watched the butterfly move. As soon as the pedal is let off and near or at idle position you hear a click and the pedal now does nothing at the butterfly and a 1128 (throttle motor lock out) code is set. My thought is that it is bad grounds or the parts store replacement motor (Lexus would only sell a complete throttle body to us with the motor attached) has failed brushes/contacts or something similar. Any thoughts you might have are appreciated. This limp mode on an otherwise perfect car means it stays off the road until we know exactly what we are up against to make it reliable again. Who knew that three components could be so intertwined to make such a mess of the diagnostic process, let alone needing to spend $2k at Lexus to get a little electric motor.

I have an automatic 2003 Lexus IS300 that has the code p2112. Throttle body actuator system- is stuck closed. The car idles at a rough 250rpm and I can’t put the car into gear to move it without it dying. When I rev it, it dies on the come down past 250rpm. The night before the car was idling at 1500rpm and wouldn’t rev past 3000. Plus about 5sec after I had the pedal smashed down all the way then the accelerator would work. The car ran fine before I took the battery out of it and sat it out overnight then when I put it back in my problems began. What voltages should my app sensor and ecu wire points into the ecu have? Plus by chance do you know anything about anti-thief, fail safe/immobilizer mode for these cars?
What voltage was applied to test the butterfly function? Did you bridge pins 1 & 3 and then apply voltage to pin 2? Don’t wanna fry anything. Thanks in advance

Yeah from 1992-2002 those Lexus ecus had counterfeit ecu capacitors...the cheaply made capacitors melt over time and cause the failure in the ecu...the capacitors can be replaced with new ones (you have to solder on the new ones)
I have a '94 GS....my plate is stuck wide open. I've replaced throttle position sensors....it's still stuck open.... And the throttle body is leaking gas. Could it be my ecm or bad throttle body altogether... please help!!!
Great rundown on diagnosing issues with in the throttle body I have similar issues with my Lexus is300 thought it might TPS still waiting on oem to arrive but if that doesn’t do the trick I will be using these methods to test and is the place you sent the pcm still operating
So was there no response at all on the pedal when pushed down? Because I'm having a similar problem, but my problem is that it doesn't respond for the first half, then from halfway point and forward it does respond and it's idling a little over 1000 rmp too.
I have the same issue. What fixed your issue? 1) did you replace tps sensor? Front of engine 2) replace motor? 3) replace throttle position peddle sensor (back of engine)
I've got a 2UZ with a similar issue. Idles up and down and I can hear that motor on the throttle body clicking intermittently. Sounds just like the clutch in it clicking when you tested it. What's the part number on that motor? Can I test the motor by hooking up 12v to those pins?
How did you actually make the butterfly gate go up and down? Can I use alligator clips connected to the actual positive and negative terminal of the battery and hook it to the harness clip?

3 years late.. but low idle on 98-2000 LS400 is most likely the Air Idle Control valve that is fed from the power steering pump. It fails from a leaking power steering pump which eventually happens to all 1uzfe equipped cars. Produces no cel codes just low idle as a symptom.
how would you fix a high idle on a 02 GS300? I got a P1128 for messing with the throttle positioning. =D I spliced the ignition wires with new wires, solder them together with "nasa type splicing".
