- On a remote subtropical island, somewhere on earth, you'll find our off grid homestead. We live in an old stone house, with three children, and produce our own electricity, water, and vegetables. With Shetland Geese, Chickens, Guinea Fowl, and two cats to care for, we're slowly transforming 5 acres of wild land into edible gardens. We have 15+ years of experience living this way, so we know a thing or two about how to make off grid living work through our own failures.

Thank you for sharing. Last year we purchased a home in Lajes, Flores. We are experiencing the slow process in getting our roof fixed.... We unfortunately are unable to live there full time due to family needs in the US. But we will be back in July possibly May as well to deal with fixing things at our home.
Yeah, it didn’t help that one of the guys who does that work has hurt himself and is still recovering. Hope he gets better for his own sake
Hey, oh we feel this. Getting anything done on Flores island is such a slow and painful process. There is pros and cons on relying on ourselves to fix everything: on the one hand, Magnus eventually figures out how to fix things and make the home work, but on the other hand we have an ever growing long list of things that need fixing and can never seem to get on top of things.
Yeah took almost a year for the storm door to get ordered, less serious than the guy hurting himself, but man it took a while for the measurements to be done

Really mild winter this year, but it has been cold enough for my blueberries to have lots of flowers 🫐
