So surprised you hadn’t seen Henry previously. He is so talented and he is a great performer, musician, dancer, actor, model, singer, entrepreneur, you name it. He used to live in Canada. You need to check out his performance of “Faded” where he plays 2 pianos at once. Seems like a great person too.
Hey! You are also a fan of him, I am a crazy fan him- watching him day by day though fb, UA-cam. He just finished the show: Beginagain Korea 4, here he has some so-called amazing: Youngblood, faded, believer, dance monkey, shadow, savage love. He is awesome 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Fun fact: "Henry can actually play every instrument, (as shown in a Korean veriety show where he plays the drums, guitar, symbols, flute, trumpet, sitar (Indian guitar) accordian, Egyptian harp and he composes and transcribes music on the spot. He's known as a musical genius because he plays by ear and learns very fast..his whole family has a musical background and he excels at piano and violin because he learned those first at a very young age. He writes all his own arrangements and music, has acted in films, is a polyglot (person who speaks multiple languages) and is a well known K-pop artist in South Korea that was apart of a boy band called super junior" -just thought you autta know 😉
“he’s moonwalking! where’s the camera on that bro??” is literally every henry fans when we watched the video:)) the damn cameramen just had to zoom in🚶🏻
Warning this is a long post so read if you like. Just so you know.....Most of his performances are abbreviated versions of the piece, he was in a tv show where he is not the only guest, so he has to rearrange the music to fit a specific time frame. Those who know him are very much aware that he doesn't practice playing the violin like he used or expected to, he simply just doesn't have the time for it....and the reason why he went to SK is because he doesn't want to only be a "classical musician", he doesn't want to just be practicing playing the violin & the piano every single day. His fans do notice the missed notes & hiccups here & there, but we understand where he is now in playing instruments. I mean really with the amount of activities he is engaged in, he hardly had any time to even sleep. He seriously have this instant grasp of playing many instruments even with those he hasn't even seen before. Prior to this pandemic....he flies to China like once or twice a week for activities & that is on top of his SK schedules. In case you don't know, Henry did not major in classical music or in playing violin. HE did reached level 10 in both piano & violin when he was 16...but when he left Canada to train in SM he stopped practicing, bec he has to concentrate learning Korean & Chinese. Some people who review his performance can be a little harsh....but they do so without really knowing that classical is no longer all he does. HE is still musically genius, but no doubt his level of expertise in playing the violin has gone down a bit, but he is very happy with the trade off. YES....He is EVERYTHING! He is a classical musician, a composer, producer, singer, dancer, he can rap, actor, model, he can cook too, he is also the SK's save the children & vaccination ambassador. I know NO other celebrity as Henry anywhere in the world who has this much to offer as a talent. When God pour talents from heaven......many of us opened our umbrellas, while Henry pulled out a deep bucket to catch as many as he can...seriously. BUT the best characteristic of Henry is his personality, very humble & personable reason why he is recognized by people in SK in wide age range from 8 to 88 as they say. Watch his 3rd international movie in Netflix ...DOUBLE WORLD. 👍🏼👍🏼
Henry is good at rearrangement and mash-up music. He showed more pieces in Begin Again Korea. He has done many performances of using loop stations in that TV program. Henry said he actually hate classic for a while and he still feel the pressure when he has to perform classic music. However, he still try to do that in Begin Again Korea. He arrange trio of the He is the pirate. He mash up the Por Una Cabeza and the Havana. I love the guy so much
Henry Lau is Chinese/Taiwanese-Canadian and he is a Kpop artist and a member of the legendary Kpop boy group Super Junior. He debuted in 2008 as a member of Super Junior-M -- The Mandarin Chinese sub-unit of Super Junior, which produced songs in Mandarin and promoted in China, as well as around the world. When he debuted he was only 18 and he is now one of the most popular Kpop stars around the world. The clips you saw were all clips from TV programs and variety shows, etc, so the songs may have been cut or trimmed by him on purpose for time constraints and copyright issues as well. These clps where when he was around 22-25 years old. And the last video of his "Seven Rings" cover was when he was 29 and it was for a magazine photo shoot. None of these videos were necessarily meant to show off classically trained perfect skills. If you want to see how Henry uses multiple instruments at the same time to create his own music compilations and also does covers of famous western pop songs look up the Korean TV program Begin Again. This program is a busking program where famous Kpop artists come together and form a band where they then travel all over the world and busk on the streets across Europe and Korea. The members are all musicians and singers and the music is all played live by the band members. In the entertainment industry Henry is considered a music genius and he can really play that violin while dancing like that. He was classically trained in violin and piano since the age of 6 and he had plans to go to college to study classical music. (Later, after becoming a member of Super Junior, Henry did end up going to Berklee College of music on a full scholarship and got his degree) But the year he graduated high school he auditioned for SM Entertainment -- the largest and most influential entertainment company in Korea and around the world -- when they held auditions in Canada and he impressed them so much with his violin dance routine that they signed him right away. So he moved to Korea and became a trainee in the Kpop industry. Henry trained for about a year before he debuted with Super Junior (Which is considered pretty short in the Kpop industry, especially for a foreigner) -- and that was only because he needed to learn Korean and become more proficient in Mandarin. Henry now speaks 4 languages fluently -- English, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese -- and he speaks numerous other languages moderately well. He works really hard to speak to fans in their native language so he has learned a lot of languages over the past 12 years. Henry would be the first to tell you his playing isn't always perfect and he isn't as good as a classical musician. But that is not the point of what he does. His playing may not be perfect all the time to a classically trained musicians standards. But you have to take into account that Henry is super busy in all aspects of the entertainment industry and he doesn't have hours on end to practice the way you do. He literally has dozens of different projects going at the same time and his whole focus is on entertaining audiences, not being perfect -- only musicians notice his flaws, but to the average listener that doesn't matter. He literally plays every instrument known to man and when he composes his music he is the one that plays almost every instrument the majority of the time. Not only do those with an untrained ear consider him a genius musician, but he is also known as a really good dancer. If you haven't already, check out a live performance of his self-wrote and composed pop song "Fantastic" to see him play the violin and dance or his song "Trap" to see his piano and dance skills. He was the first of the Super Junior members to go solo in 2013. He is now a solo artist and he writes, composes and produces all his own music. Henry left SM in 2018 when his contract was up after 10 years, to become an independent artist. He now owns his own independent company, Monster Entertainment Group, and he is still active in all aspects of the entertainment industry. He still is producing music and releasing new songs and MVs, etc. Henry is an accomplished pop music producer. Not only has he wrote, composed and produced all his own solo work, but he has produced numerous songs for other artists and Korean- and Chinese-drama and movie OST songs. He even creates songs in multiple languages, for example, one of his last songs released under SM Entertainment is called "Monster," and it is one of my favorite songs from 2018. He has an English version of "Monster" MV, a Chinese "Monster" MV and a Korean audio only version of "Monster." He is also one of the top variety show guests in Korea and China. Everyone wants him on their program because they know he will bring them a lot of ratings. Prior to the pandemic, he spent his time traveling back and forth from Korea and China on almost a weekly bases because he is involved in so many different projects. And he has even broken into the U.S. entertainment industry last year when he starred in the Hollywood movie "A Dog's Journey" alongside famous actors such as Dennis Quaid.
Henry is pretty much connected to everyone in the entertainment industry and everyone is his friend both young and old. He is internationally loved and he is constantly winning awards, such as artist of the year in Thailand a couple of year ago -- and what is especially notable about that, is the fact that all his work is in Korean, Mandarin or English, he hasn't done anything in Thai. However, they love him because he has managed to endear himself with audiences and fans from around the world. Please check out more of Henry's work both new and old. His songs and albums top charts and he sells millions and audiences clammer to see and hear his work. If you want to see how good of a musician and entertainer he is you should watch this clip ua-cam.com/video/vAyAD2R1Apc/v-deo.html It's a clip from a special project/ variety show that Henry did in collaboration with SM and Mystic Entertainment, called "The Snowball Project" and on the program during one of the episodes of the show, Henry was challenged to play multiple instruments from around the world, which he had never seen or played before. And, as you will see, within minutes Henry was able to pick up the instrument, figure out how to play the notes and play a song on the spot. He can also play any song or tune on almost any instrument after hearing only a few notes. But I could go on for days about Henry and I could recommend hundreds of clips and programs that he has been on that would impress you even more. He really is an entertainment genius, and on top of all that, he is also a trained chef and can cook as well as a professional. He was in a movie where he played a culinary genius so the producer wanted him to look as authentic as possible, so Henry spent months training under a famous chef and learned a lot of amazing cooking techniques. He has participated in numerous cooking competitions and cooking based variety shows, including Top Chef Korea, and his skill has impressed even professional cooks. Henry has a way of captivating audiences with whatever he does, whether it's music, dancing, acting, as a trained chef, or just being himself on variety shows or as a popular UA-camr. His fans are called Strings because of his classical music background.
As you can see by the way I gush, I am a huge fan of Henry and I have been following him since his debut. He has millions of fans who are more than impressed with his skills, even if he isn't as perfect as a full time classical musician.
Henry Lau such a very multitalented guy. Can play violin, piano, dance, sing a song and nice looking. Really selling his own self at music industry Haha true that you saying!
Dude, Henry Lau is EXTREMELY TALENTED! I like how you added a little snippet of Suhyun Ko, to show the correct way the note should sound! Henry was also a Kpop idol w/Super Junior back in the day
henry is really out of this world! You definitely need to watch his performance of faded on the Korean show (begin again i think, just type in youtube and you see him in a white shirt on the thumbnail). Honestly worth watching!
@WayneFTW Actually, since Henry didn't want to become a violinist, he rejected the offer from U of T to continue his violinist career but went to Korea as a trainee instead prior to making a debut to K-POP industry. He himself knows very well that his violin as well as piano skills are far from being as good when it comes to a violinist or pianist. I think people say that Henry is a legend is saying this in terms of the capability of combining classical and pop music and this has been what he's enjoying doing. He writes, produces, arranges songs, lyrics, and music, and plays an array of instruments. He even loves to edit his MVs.
I think most of us won't agree with your title. 10 years experience in playing violin is already legendary! So much respect to you coz you know how to appreciate another artist! 😊👍
I really agree, but to be fair from what i knew about social media (especially tHiS UA-cam) he is just trying to play safe and be humble. May I see it from the classical musician perspective, doing cover of pop song is easier than playing classical music pieces. And that's also what's work on the violin. These days, there are so many legit classical musicians on youtube. Imagine seeing this dude, who made videos about violin cover of pop song, and he saying he is professional,,, i bet he would get so many roast from the REAL professionals. I'm sorry if my explanation is weird, i hope u get it. But me personally think he is professional as well, he is just being humble.
@@eufrasyaximipa8063 Indeed! I totally gets your explanation. Just can't help not to admire his down to earth personality and sense of humor :) also, the way he teach us some technicalities in violin might say that his in professional level. 😊
@@eufrasyaximipa8063 Henry made it really clear that he gave up on pursuing a professional violinist career at age 16 when he decided to be a K-Pop singer. This is the only way that he can enjoy playing violin and piano, singing, dancing, composing songs, arranging music, acting, creating music pieces, etc, and does not have to give up any one of them. He never said he is a professional violinist.
Though you might already know from other comments saying how many instruments Henry can play, and how talented he is. But I want to let you know, Henry started learning violin at 6years old, and piano at 7 years old. So he actually is very good at them. And also, please watch his "loop station series"
Henry Lau has a channel called Henry more Henry, which is a UA-cam channel where you can perform live with Henry. What is Henry's true level? I suggest you contact Henry for a live broadcast. I believe it will be able to focus on music fans all over the world. However, before that, I hope that if you haven't seen a real Henry live performance, you don't easily predict that there is a pre-recorded situation in his life, which will cause discomfort and misunderstanding of some fans and listeners! Thank you! PS: The videos you picked are all Henry's early videos. I recommend you to watch the complete Korean street show "Begin again" Henry's performance. His loop staion and improvisational ensemble are very exciting.
I enjoyed watching this video, thank you for doing it! I’m surprised that you didn’t check him out earlier, he is way more talented than you thought if you just watch those videos only, those are from his early years that he’d been crazily on TV shows all the time that he couldn’t practice that much. He’s been getting insanely better in the past year. And First of all, yes he writes his own stuffs, check Despacito (Henry violin cover), you gonna love it. Secondly, his trump card is actually loopstation, he can make music with anything, with more than just instruments and to combine everything he can play together to compose. And Not only violin, piano, dance, singing(his vocal is sooo good now as well, the high note, omg) but he can also play guitar, drum, Marimba, and Bbox, rap(he wrote and sang the rap part of the LOL S10 championship theme song days ago), list can go on. It’s true he’s not classical musician anymore, but he truly does an amazing job introducing classic music to the mass audience by combining classic with trends. If you have any interest to know the real-time Henry Lau.You have to check out below covers to see the real crazy stuff of his: Young blood x2 versions(one in China and one in Korea, completely different arrangement) Faded x2 versions (same as YB) Believer (this is insane!!!!!!!) Dance Money+Attentions+Don’t start now (he mashed them up)... you can start from here, lol. You’ll be blown away And for sure be a bigger fan!!! 😆 (hope to see your reactions on any of above though😁) And you are super talented as well!! Claiming to be an amateur when you are actually pro? You are also humble! As another Henry fan and a violin starter, I enjoyed your videos a lot! And I don’t like eggplant either, so I subscribed. Lol Btw, sorry for such a long comment.😅
Alan did a Faded cover as well, I think he’s gonna love it. ;) I enjoyed Henry’s faded a lot too, even Alan Walker himself liked and reposted Henry’s cover!
Alan walker want to collab with henry henry haven't answer his replay 😭 after henry collab with clean bandit, the chainsmokers, aluna george I wish with alan soon

hey~fan of you due to fan of henry of violin( i did play violin when i was little), love your comment on the play~ since I do know a thing or two about violin as well, henry is really multi-talented musician and he did study classical violin since 6 and piano since 7~ he did write his own version of what he play~ he is smart at what he‘s good at~ glad you also like henry~~

I’m a music idiot, but Henry literally blasted me to heaven on the range of music I listen to now, also fall in love with violin because of him; he is a crazy wonderful workaholic that does music, acting, variety show, but I think he shine the most and the happiest when he does music ua-cam.com/video/zoboLXcMC9Q/v-deo.html - one of Henry original song ua-cam.com/video/iqzxRt0AB5s/v-deo.html - Youngblood cover by Henry Thanks Alan, fun vid and looking forward to your music 🎻
HAHAHA "it seems like he's choking the violin" ... that's like me every single concert lol *Henry skips half the notes* Me in a concert :'( plays maybe the first measure, catches up maybe in the middle, loses it again, PLAYS LAST NOTE "I did it mom!"
As a pop violinist, you are probably only interested in Henry's violin clips. I think you might like his violin solo of Young Blood. Henry posted this clip on his Instagram on August 5, 2019. I think you're super talented. Fighting ✊
He is known mostly for the violin but he plays piano even two at a time and sings dances and just a great entertainer. You didn,t seem to put that into the equation
Oh my baby boy Henry 😭💙🔥 He is a genius musician, he can makes music from a different weird stuffs, please watch his covers specially “Believer” with 4.6 M views and you will be so impressive , and yes he makes his own musics 🔥
When Henry sang : wow 😳😅 I've seen this though When Alan sang : OMG! WTF 🤯😱.....HE CAN !!!!!S I N G ?!🤪🤪(pls kill me 🤣) his voice is so soft and delicate 😻😻
Interesting, I loved seeing him being himself. That was really cool. He looked at the camera quite a bit, which I'm always nagging about on his videos. You've got to bring the audience in. It's so Important... Anyway. I really enjoyed it,... : )
He couldn't have much time to practice classical violin after he debuted as a kpop idol. But I think he is getting much better now.If you have time,I recommend you to check his new performances and his UA-cam channel. Thank you♡

Henry Lau such a very multitalented guy. Can play violin, piano, dance, sing a song and nice looking. Really selling his own self at music industry Haha true that you saying!
Guys, he's also an actor. Was there as Trent in the film Dog's Journey
Dude, Henry Lau is EXTREMELY TALENTED! I like how you added a little snippet of Suhyun Ko, to show the correct way the note should sound! Henry was also a Kpop idol w/Super Junior back in the day
alan: *roasts henry*
also alan: *is fanboying over henry*
henry is really out of this world! You definitely need to watch his performance of faded on the Korean show (begin again i think, just type in youtube and you see him in a white shirt on the thumbnail). Honestly worth watching!
alan: I hAtE eGgPlAnTs gEt OuT tHe eFfInG dOoR iF yOu lIkE tHeM (EVEN A LITTLE BIT)
me: o_O okay bye (lmao jk i'm still subbed)
Legend watching another legend😌🌼❤
Yes.
Yup😍
💯👏👏👏👏👏👏
🤣😂
I agree😏
@@yiminko6850 wait, I didn't write anything about Henry, did I?
Amateur? You are the pro!!
다재다능한헨리~~귀엽고 사랑스럽고 이쁘고~~♡♡♡
Though you might already know from other comments saying how many instruments Henry can play, and how talented he is.
But I want to let you know, Henry started learning violin at 6years old, and piano at 7 years old.
So he actually is very good at them.
And also, please watch his "loop station series"
I'm a Henry fan, too. I live in Korea, too.
Henry lau is legend
He play too many instruments love how he willing play with younger kids and better than them 😆
Henry Lau has a channel called Henry more Henry, which is a UA-cam channel where you can perform live with Henry.
If you have any interest to know the real-time Henry Lau.You have to check out below covers to see the real crazy stuff of his:
Young blood x2 versions(one in China and one in Korea, completely different arrangement)
Faded x2 versions (same as YB)
Believer (this is insane!!!!!!!)
Dance Money+Attentions+Don’t start now (he mashed them up)... you can start from here, lol.
You’ll be blown away And for sure be a bigger fan!!! 😆 (hope to see your reactions on any of above though😁)
And you are super talented as well!! Claiming to be an amateur when you are actually pro? You are also humble! As another Henry fan and a violin starter, I enjoyed your videos a lot! And I don’t like eggplant either, so I subscribed. Lol
Btw, sorry for such a long comment.😅
Alan did a Faded cover as well, I think he’s gonna love it. ;) I enjoyed Henry’s faded a lot too, even Alan Walker himself liked and reposted Henry’s cover!

I’m a music idiot, but Henry literally blasted me to heaven on the range of music I listen to now, also fall in love with violin because of him; he is a crazy wonderful workaholic that does music, acting, variety show, but I think he shine the most and the happiest when he does music

Yup! Henry writes his own stuffs. He also rearrange songs and do covers.
When the title said amateur violinist at that moment I thought if he calls himself an amateur then what am I ?
I really enjoyed the analysis you gave. I do not know much about the violin. Your explanation helped me understand the beauty of the work.
Woow Henry is the best
As a pop violinist, you are probably only interested in Henry's violin clips. I think you might like his violin solo of Young Blood. Henry posted this clip on his Instagram on August 5, 2019. I think you're super talented. Fighting ✊
He is known mostly for the violin but he plays piano even two at a time and sings dances and just a great entertainer.
You didn,t seem to put that into the equation
Thanks for another super cool video!!
Henry is actually a member of Korean Famous Super Junior. You are cool in playing the violin and guitar in your own unique playing style😍😍🤩🤩❤❤❤❤
What 😳
He started his career as a member of Super Junior (a K-pop idol group) but now he is a solo artist
Yah...he has even left sm entertainment

He studied at a elite university and won many awards
Interesting, I loved seeing him being himself. That was really cool. He looked at the camera quite a bit, which I'm always nagging about on his videos. You've got to bring the audience in. It's so Important... Anyway. I really enjoyed it,... : )
I love Henryyyyy😘😘
I'm picky too and I absolutely hate eggplants.
he can play any instruments he touch
Well.... Henry Lau is well trained as a performer, dancer, violinist and musician. I don't know why you haven't seen his performances before though.
