I drive a mall crawler. 2019 Sahara. 20” rims, 35” tires. I’ve done broken arrow at least a dozen times. You do not need to air down and you do not need a spotter for any part of this trail
Broken arrow had amazing trails there are several other trails fun fay for sure done it in my lifted 4th gen 4runner and in 4 of my 3rd gens some were lifted and some just had bigger tires
As of 4/16/23 the Devil's Staircase has washed out quite a bit exposing more of the boulders, we've had a lot of extra water this winter/spring. As the owner of a GX and a LC 200 I definitely wouldn't recommend a stock GX attempt it in it's current form.
My grandparents lived about 2 houses in on the right on Morgan Road in the neighborhood you go through to get to broken arrow. We used to hike out to submarine rock all the time. When I got older I would visit and ride my MTB all over that loop and the devil's staircase. Fun, but very short. I'd ride it 4 or 5 times just to make it worth it. I recall getting up on my front wheel going down the staircase every time. That was back in the 80s and mid 90s. Good on ya!
Finally... a trail video edit shows trail map and location... very useful. And you split out chapters for each major section. I applaud you! One word of advice... keep background music off or low when talking about critical points.
It's a great trail. I did it in a stock JL Rubicon 4xe. The 4xe has great skid plates. For Devils Staircase, I put it in 4 low and used the Hill Descent Control button. I never touched the break. I did have spotter, but it just slowly edged its way down. We did bottom out on the 4xe skid plates several times. My wife was gripping the "Oh Shit" bar the whole way.
I did this trail in a new stock 1998 Jeep Wrangler after I got married, with no damage whatsoever. This is a pretty mild trail but not for the faint of heart or those with a vehicle that isn't built for it. Ridiculous lifts and locking everything are grand overkill for this beautiful trail. I currently have a 2017 Tundra with a 3 inch lift and I did it in that easily. Others have done it in 2wd! Beautiful scenery though.
In case anyone wants to tackle with a less modified GX. I have stock rear suspension with 1.5" lift on the front with Wildpeaks 265R17. Definitely, the bare minimum in my opinion to get through this trail. Had I seen this video before I probably wouldn't have done the trail since It was my first time off-roading in this terrain. But so happy I went through it and learned about the capability of the GX. Owww I had my gf spot which she didn't have any idea what to look for except make sure I don't hit anything lol.
Its a gorgeous trail! And its nice to see someone wheeling with 35s! Haha they are generally more than enough to get you where you wanna go🤙🏻😎(especially if you guys get anyone with a rubicon with 35s)
I have a blacked out 4runner and love EVERYTHING about this vehicle. And that blacked out Lexus looks so good too. Never looked at Lexus as an off road rig but throughout recent years they’ve become very popular for good reason. They have everything you need. I’d still choose a 4runner over anything but man that Lexus looks great
A Stock GX470. Let's see. 3" Lift. Not Stock. Black Rhino Wheels, with Nitto Ridge Grappler Tires. Not Stock. YES. All you Soccer Moms out there with a Stock GX470, can do this trail.
You got up that because the GX has A-trac. On the toyotas there is a button but on the GX its automatic. Basically it equalizes traction control left to right and you trigger it by just staying in the throttle. That is what happened at 8:30.
Nice camera work, I was with my family out that way for a week and rented a stock jeep and did Broken Arrow and a few more highly rated trails. Traction is really good most stock 4wd's won't have an issue if your and avid offroad driver. I can't wait to go back with my Land Cruiser and run them all again.
I am from Greece, live here in Georgia from October to April ( rest in Italy and Greece) and I just ordered here my 2020 JGC Trailhawk with added Mopar rock rails; rest as comes from momma! Do you think I should be ok on this Trail...planning to be there in early November. Thanks! Great video of great " adventure". Keep them coming. BTW, in Europe I have a 2016 JGC Overland Trail Rated, where I do some serious off-roading, nothing extreme, though; the geographic terrain there is so much different (milder! Not as "savage or wild") than it is here...definitely will be a challenge for me, as I am 72 yrs old! :-)
I'm jealous I had reserved 5 days in April for the TUNDRAS TO SEDONA but got postponed due to Covid-19 and I had been planning to go for the last two years and this year was my lucky year when everything was ready. Had my truck ready and money. But plans got ruined.

We did Broken Arrow several years back in our stock 2010 JKUR. It was Avery fun trail....

I have never been on that trail without at least 20 Pink Jeeps clogging it up.

It’s rated as a level 4 Jeep trail. I know people with CVT Subaru’s that have done this trail, so your JGC WK2 trailhawk will be more than enough.
