    I did it 2 weeks ago in my new Gladiator Mojave on 33s, and had the trail virtually to myself. I encountered about 3 pink jeeps and that was it. I bet that's rare though haha

      Did you do the "devil's staircase/road of no return" with your Gladiator on 33s? I'm thinking about doing it with my Gladiator Rubicon too!

    Watching some of those shots with trucks lined up waiting - makes me feel like I'm standing at a urinal with the NY Knicks all standing around waiting impatiently. Good demonstration of how it is, thanks.

    Nena, your presentation and helpful guidance are so important to such a busy road as the Broken Arrow (BA). I'd love to see a bit more info on how to deal with oncoming traffic and the importance of specific pull-outs for pulling aside. It's not the really fun aspect of a busy Jeep road, however it is critical info for users to be able to respect other drivers and especially respect the fragile environment. I drove BA at least 5,000 times as a Pink Jeep tour guide from 1989-2004 and spent plenty of time hardening road edges with boulders and defining/shaping pull-outs in order to stop newbie 4x4 drivers from trying to be helpful by driving off the road into native, untouched manzanita shrubs in order to get out of the way of oncoming traffic they meet. With the traffic load on BA where it's at in today's Sedona, besides the safe driving techniques that you have beautifully provided, all drivers need nature and 4x4 traffic etiquette awareness, too. I liked the Jeep taking a nap photo you inserted....hahaha......I have a photo book full of everything from 4x4 vehicle double-barrel roll experiments to Range Rovers in the hole just below Pan 1.
    For fun, lets go up The Road of No Return like Rod Wilde did back in 1992 in his 1980's electric conversion Land Rover. Flawless.....

    0:42 As for the shake of the head and look of distaste because other people are enjoying a beautiful experience in those tour group jeeps: Pink Jeep is literally the only reason you can have the experience of driving the Broken Arrow Road at all.
    Back 60+ years ago, the Jimmie Stewart movie "Broken Arrow" was filmed in that area. With permits from the Forest Service, the film company built several little sets with feeder roads to them. They were just a bunch of little roads that went nowhere. Don Pratt, a local businessman, contacted the Forest Service with a proposal. He would use those roads as a starting point, and his company would build a road, named after the movie, through the area. In return, he wanted his fledgling company, Pink Jeep Tours, to be the only tour group allowed to use the road. After consideration, the Forest Service said they would approve the plan, with two stipulations. Pink Jeep would maintain the road, and they would share their profits with the Forest Service. Pratt agreed, they drew up the contract, signed it, and all these years later you get the chance to drive the road, thanks to Pink Jeep creating it and keeping it open.

    I go there in the week days. No weekends. Been to Broken Arrow many times the week days early in the morning is the best time hardly anyone their. You don't need to disconnect your sway bars or air down lower then 25lbs I've never had to just pick your lines correctly. It's a great place like a off road park.

      However in some places it will be really to the side of your truck. If not rubbing tires. Because of your width. But it will be awesome.

    Thanks for taking us with you. Well... one more trail for the bucket list. How would you compare Broken Arrow to say Hells Revenge in Moab as far as technical and also crowds?

    • @jeepschool
      @jeepschool  2 роки тому +1

      Even though they both have a lot of red rock, they are quite different. Hell's Revenge is more technical, but you don't have to worry about tight trees or slippery stair steps. Broken Arrow is more crowded per linear mile of trail, with tighter trail making it more difficult to get past each other, and impossible for groups of three or more to travel together. Broken Arrow is NOT recommended for groups.

    "A few that ruin it for everybody" should be printed on our money. By that logic our government shouldn't "allow" us to do anything at all. The government doesn't get any power from focusing on the VAST majority of people that choose to do the right thing.

    Pink jeep tours ruined most of the trails in Sedona,they cause to much traffic and forced some of these trails to close the harder routes so they can get through the tours faster to make more money.
