Know for its slick rock? Thought it was known for rock as grippy as sand paper. haha
We thought the same thing the first time we were there. Had to ask people to find out. It is called slick rock from way back to manifest destiny was going on as the covered wagons with the wood wheels and the metal rings on the outside would slide all over the place.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this because I haven't looked at any of the comments, but at the 8:39 mark, the limo is Robby Layton (UA-cam channel), several cars behind him is at least 3 vehicles from Matt's off road recovery (UA-cam channel). I remember watching both of their videos of that area.
Now I have to look and compare

It’s because of the deep hole you can’t see just after the first climb (usually because it’s filled with water). If you don’t stay centered over it you’ll get immediately tossed on your side.
2 inches one way or the other makes all the difference on this one. Also, the line is slightly different depending on your wheelbase. Keeping the rear tires on line is way more important than where the front tires are

You mention there are bypasses. I’d like to visit this summer but I’m worried a little. I have a mid 90s montero lifted and with 33s. Open diffs and center locker only. It is set up for overlanding pretty much. Do you think I’ll be able to enjoy this trail without getting into trouble? Thank you!
You should be fine, but I would recommend exiting the end of the trail. So turn around and go back to the start. There is a cut through near hells escalator so you can go there, watch the show and then work your way back.

It's not like that. The group here is all hanging out together to watch each other try the different obstacles. Because without the people there most wouldn't try as they don't have support like they do there.

no it is not. At least as of yet.
Now there is some updates on what is going on there. The federal government is actually stepping in and putting a pause on the closure. Thus it is important to call your local representives and tell them to protect our lands for motor use and reference this area.
Because we all know, they won't just stop there. This attack was foreseen long ago when they were attacking Pismo Beach. When they thought they were going to win, the groups fighting for pismo warned Moab that area was next and they didn't listen. The real goal is to close all lands despite what they they say, as their action speak loader and those actions are to close everything.
I am one of the locals in Moab… have been doing research and one thing you might start looking into is the 20x30 and other programs
Many of them are “conservation” programs that merely just are aimed at removing both public and private property rights
The scary part is that it will be another situation where “public private partnerships” result in corporations being the primary beneficiaries
This is all being done under the guise of “sustainability” - whoch is basically communism gift wrapped in a fashion that most of the emotional based public will cheer for.

I off road an FJ and this type of thing doesn't look the least bit fun to me. It looks like a lot of stress and a lot of vehicle damage to basically go "no where" but to each their own.
So much different types of off-roading out there. What would you say is your favorite?

I get it. My Silver Jeep is the family wagon. Its great for to have the whole family go on an adventure together in one vehicle but if i get a choice, i am talking my CJ. Zero of the amenities, no roof and doors, and manual trans.
Now, that silver Jeep is pretty darn capable, can easily do a 8 rated trail, and rides amazingly well. It is a big girl, but she does the job quiet well.
