Everyone questioning the man driving stakes into the ground with his sword but at least he had something to use, everyone else was either using their fists or a rock
I was at WWWC when this was filmed a while back and I would like to apologise for my mom yelling at you guys to stop in your tracks so she could take a picture while you guys were recording 😂
Fascinating, Abney Park, SPG, and you guys of course, all 3 pull off showing off the good and bad, seriousness and fun, of Steampunk and it's influences, case in point, this song and The Incredible Jelly Doughnut Juicer.
It's not common to hear singers like this who can pull of an operatic style of vocals along with various ranges, tonalities and other styles. It's truly awe-inspiring and the music sounds AMAZING. Thank you so much for this!
Absolutely in love with this band. The first Cog is Dead song I've listened to was The Death Of The Cog about... five years ago, I think. I'm delighted that I keep finding more gems from them. Thank you for your amazing work!
What I appreciate more than the music is that they actually respond to comments and not some typical generated response. Makes me like this group even more for that
My god, the percussion in this is awesome. It makes an awesome feel of men and women working in a forge or, well, building railroad tracks. I always love songs who use the sounds that fit with their topic, it helps to immerse you in the story they're telling. Reminds me of A Mariner's Revenge Song's use of instruments like an acoustic guitar, accordion, and tambourine (don't hear that often) to make it sound like the kind of song that sailors on a ship would sing together. Brilliant work!
@@willieearles3151 did you ever listen to the Johnny Cash song called John Henry? Very awesome stuff. John Henry is the type of American legend that I just don't see get the same love anymore

With the costumes, I'm imagining people slaving away to build the railroad line when an airship lands on the edge of town to drop off supplies, the crew clean, well fed, and wearing crisp uniforms.
Fifty years old and I'm discovering steampunk music. This is the third band ive checked out. His voice is great. The band is so good. Well done! Looking forward to hearing more from you guys.
It took me 6 years but there is a bounty hunter symble easteregg in the rail wardens red goggles. Nice work cog.:) Edit: Should be specific, it's a bounty hunter guild from star wars :)
@elijah mikle It's probably the fact that the chorus starts with "All in all I'm just another cog in the machine" which is pretty similar to "All in all, you're just another brick in the wall"
This song is very good! Love the steampunk attire! And again job well done vampyre big brother. Sky Capitan , you make a fantastic Railway boss. Very nice outfit too. I know it must have taken a while for you to make it. Your work is incredibly good. I'm honoured to own a couple of pieces from you.

@boisinnawoods I'm so sorry the company you work for put you in such a dangerous position. I really wish businesses would care more about human lives than making money when disasters occur.
It's how everyone is who works for corporate office for just the person in the machine just grinding our gears away on life under their finger this song and burn it down really tying with each other
Hooray for Steampunks who wear their wedding rings while playing their instruments! I always found it adorable how John is always wearing his ring. He must love his wife (or husband; I don't know his orientation).
This is a song of my work life. I've worked long hours and hard jobs all with minimal pay. Gotta work 50-80 hours a week just to get by for most my life. I Got a better job now working only 48 hours a week in above 100°F (above 35° C) labor job.

They're trying to build a railroad, but they have no tools, so they work with what they have. Some use swords, others rocks, or even their bare hands. The sure thng is, the boss has no intention of helping them in any way.
y'know, they probably wouldn't have to work so hard if they had hammers, instead of... rocks (and a sword) Or if there were more than 5 workers. It's no wonder they have to break their backs all day and night. Plus, the bosses are clearly perfectionists, I mean, how much deeper do they need to drive those spikes? The rails looks fine to me.
Everyone questioning the man driving stakes into the ground with his sword but at least he had something to use, everyone else was either using their fists or a rock
They all missed the little "BYOH" at the bottom of the contract.
poor guy wore the tip off his sword.
If you look the others have a rock in their hands which makes more sense then a sword.
I genuinely was about to comment how the foreman was the only guy with an actual hammer- the tool you need for the job
That's because hands heal, and stones are plentiful and cheap, but chipping that sword is a real shame.
Don't you just love the random people staring at him while he passes by?

Despite all my rage I'm still just, another cog in the machine
I still don't understand why tCiD doesn't have a bigger fanbase with songs like this. (totally not a fangirl)
steampunk songs probably don't get much attention
mmmmm, I love the smell of self-indulgent presumptuousness in the morning.
brodisius k
They're doing their best and they're getting better every day... both things you're not doing at all...
Also, they're awesome as hell!
It's alright if you're a fangirl, in fact it's cool. And I know, steampunk bands should have more fans.
Featuring Captain John Sprocket on lead guitar and lead piece of wood. Definitely liked the aesthetic of this one.
The whole band has the same aesthetic and it's amazing
Wait do you mean lead the metal or
“I’ve got splinters in me fingers!” OK so it took me eight years for that to hit me, I’m slow
