    This is so true. I trained for some years wing chun and I developed this ''piercing strike'' . Then I went back to my basic style Kyokushin. And people were saying, I don't grasp it, it looks like you don't put in that much power, but your punches hurt very much.

    sir, where would you recommend to train in the Boulder, Denver area. I am a police defensive tactics trainer. I am very interested in Systema. Thanks

    The Problem that most have with Systema, its not learning techniques its about how to apply a movement. You cant see how it works, you must feel it. The right technique comes automatically.

    Isn't it possible to do that same punch, but combining with head movement? Like a punch and slip, instead of keeping your head at the same position.

    Reminds me of Bruce Lee's analogy about being hit with an iron bar contra being hit with a chain with an iron ball at the end.

    You go to great lengths in the science of ballistic strikes to get the point across about the need for simultaneously needing to keep the upper body and upper arms completely relaxed but at the same time keep the forearms, wrist and fist tense to be able to generate and transfer the impact in a punch. I have had great success with this but I am now wondering about other types of strikes and trying to apply the same principles.
    A. Palm strikes - is it the same? Meaning do you pull the hand back and create tension in the hand, wrist and forearm but keep everything else relaxed when striking like this? I would assume so but would like your confirmation please.
    B. Elbows - of course the elbow is hard and 'fixed' being just bone and joint and you will keep the upper body and arm relaxed the same as in a punch but do you tense the fist and wrist and forearm when you elbow?
    C. Kicks - From video clips I think the same concept applies with kicks in that you would keep the upper leg and hips relaxed but you would need to keep the lower legs and particularly the ankle and foot tense to transfer the impact and penetrate the opponents body. Is this correct?
    D. Knees - A similar question as with the elbow, the upper legs are relaxed of course but do you tense your lower legs when kneeing? Perhaps it is needed to keep the knee compact enough to give the penetration effect?
    E. Headbutts - of course you can't really 'tense your head' but do you keep the neck tense at impact similar to the wrist?
    Thanks if you see this reply!

      it's very important that you have the property structure when applying these strikes.
      mainly it I to do with the body\centre posture as well as breathing. diaphragmatic tension allows deeper inhales and exhales while keeping your pelvic muscles abdominal muscles and upper chest tight, as one. This allows proper relaxation of the limbs and the external muscles of the torso, while keeping some sort of rigid strucuture internally (see intra abdominal pressure(belly\back breathing)- squatters and deadlifters use this breathing principal)
      if you understand the structure and the breathing set up, you can easily apply this to all techniques.
      there has to be a strong internal pressure while having the limbs relaxed in order to successfully transferred all the lower from the ground to the target.

    I like jeet kune do boxing an wingchun punches. But i like these ballistic punches in this video as like you say the arms are down an your relaxed an the arm is not lifted or pulled back which would give the intention your going to throw a punch anyway. Plus i like how your punching at short range with no effort an good angles just nice an relaxed can you get the same feel doing the ballistic strike on a punchbag as well as someone wearing armour or a shield. By the way brilliant video an technique that was interesting.

      +jamie faircloth One of the things that I have heard from Systema instructors is that there is a big difference between the heavy bag and a human. Hard bony parts, for one thing. More angles, for another, and the angles of the surfaces change as the person moves, not to mention the varying tensions on the musculature. Also, I've never known a bag to breath. I'm not saying bags aren't useful, but the the limits of the training tool should be recognized.

    When you learn how to change the energy depth you can use all the various punches. Some times a push punch is appropriate. Where as in others a more shattering force is more useful. Nothing new here. Keep training.

    "Roll with the punch off your jaw" If you miss time that by even a split second your out cold. hand dow leaves This why I quite systema after about 4 months and went to combatives and did a proper unarmed combat course with a proper instructor who had 10 years as door man, helped train the police and knew what worked and what didn't. I remember being told in systema if some one slashes at my neck with a knife i should keep my hands down and bounce it off course with my shoulder. The ballistic striking is interesting if you can make it work under real stress which i doubt with out years of training. I have been hit with it and know it hurts but are unsure if it would work on a fully adrenalised uncoprative subject . But the soft skills were just crap i.e. what to say, how to posture, using a fence, how to cope with adrenaline, basic human physiology i.e. why are you being attacked and how to avoid it etc etc and thats the most important thing. Thats what really keeps you out of jail and alive when its for real

    The striking is good but I feel like this could only be used on someone that doesn't know how to fight. Ur left open in so many different ways

    • @spartan247
      @spartan247 9 років тому +4

      Remi magnall This is designed for combat, ending the fight as soon as it starts. As soon as someone pushes or shoves you, you put him down. No need for a guard. Even then, check out Fedor Emilienenko. He uses Sambo which is very similar to Systema. Adding a guard in the event a fight gets drawn out is easy enough. But to be honest, the best way to end the fight, rock the ribs, make him buckle, gain head control, throw him on the ground, stomp him out.

    The problem with learning all of these 'military' combatives/martial arts is that all the stuff you learn as a civie is heavily revised and edited in order for it to be safe to teach. e.g. No one is going to teach a 9-5 office worker half the techniques a vympel unit soldier would use.

      I actually think the elements are the same, but the method of training is much more intense

    • @lahn2196
      @lahn2196 6 років тому

      The office worker has to make up her mind whether she wants to remain an office worker or willing to put in enough effort to become like a special unit soldier. Isn't it the spec ops just a small part of an army? How is the pass rate at SAS, Green Berets, Spetsnaz, etc? How many of them were office workers? Well, it is not driving license exam.

    Let’s take a wing chun punch and call it ballistic strikes 🤣

    • @muvmentpodcast8242
      @muvmentpodcast8242 4 роки тому +1

      Not the some punch at all, in wing chun there biceps are activated too much for them to relax, also they dnt penetrate the target as deep because they retract the punch too early thus the basic wing chun punches iv seen are more superficial and sometimes more push like as well

    Why the opponent moves slowly and the master fast? When we will can see a real combat of Systema? Something is interesting, but I remain in dubt..
