In part 3 of this series, Neil continues to go over the simple yet effective strike to the rib cage/torso, a quick strike "from the hip". Remember that the only tension should be from your fist to elbow, there should be minimal tension and movement from your elbow to your shoulder.
Moving on to the feet, you can see when Bronson gets on the feet pads, and he starts throwing boxing punches, his feet turn back and forth. But when he starts throwing the Russian style of striking, his feet hardly move at all and all the power is in the punch and not wasted on body movement.
These feet pads are great, and as you heard, they are a golfing tool. So you can pick some up at your local golf superstore. So Neil has covered how to make quick strikes, that are powerful and yet short strikes. The key is to be relaxed, but who in the street are going to be relaxed, only the top guys will be relaxed. Next we move onto absorbing strikes.
One of the keys to absorbing strikes is the exhale. In order to absorb the strike we have to create a solid base, and the base comes from the back. The whole lower back area needs to be sunk, what we are doing is closing off the ribcage, so all that space we are going to sink. Don't sink down to much to make your pelvis come forward though, but just enough to close off the gaps.

What they don't tell you is how to implement it as if you were in a real fight, it's very hard to implement this technique by staying relaxed but at the same time having speed

no it is not training will take over. i recently proved this to myself when my girlfriend and i were approached in a would be mugging, the guy hade a .380 in his pocket, i said "cool can i see it, i had over 400 guns before i went to prison", by then we were nearly on top of him and he was dumbfounded by what i said, easily disarmed and throw around for a bit before putting him to sleep and my right arm was around her the whole time. moral: trian, train, train!

The ol' sucker punch! Wouldn't work in boxing cos the moment you open up the opponent will strike.
