I have been deliberating on which Garmin to go for, I love tech (although not fully conversant with all) I am a 68 year old guy with COPD (33% lung capacity) I exercise as hard as I can, I can’t constantly run it’s just interval training. On and off road up to 10 miles, I did my first half marathon about 6 weeks ago, no land speed record, but age and condition happy enough. I do 3 gym visits a week also. Primary monitoring HR and VO2, I am in the UK they have their Black Friday deals at the moment the Fenix 7 Pro (47mm) Solar Sapphire was reduced from $1035 To $725 seemed too good to pass up, I admit it’s a far more superior piece of tech that I will ever need or use. But on the plus side, I won’t need to upgrade. Your review was great in helping me decide thank you. Looking to try and dispense with the separate timer for interval training and do it all through the Garmin. Can it be set up for interval with audible and vibrate alerts… once again thanks
Great decision by Garmin to use an upgraded MIP screen. As beautiful as AMOLED is, MIPS is still the most practical screen to use in a sport oriented watch which is the target group of the Fenix line up.
Wow, Now I am 100% on Garmin Fenix 7 Pro... I was waiting for the Garmin Fenix 8 (this is it?) with the GF7pro not the largest but with a flashlight! I cant wait!
The fenix 7x pro sapphire solar is awesome. I've had mine for three weeks now, and coming from a G shock mudmaster, it's a big change up. There's definitely a lot to learn. So I'm going through as many videos as I can. Thank you for an awesome review
@shane031237 Once you have put your stride into the Garmin fenix, I've found it to be really accurate. I walked a thousand counted steps and my watch told me a had stepped 991 steps
I have a Gshock rangeman and never worry about it in the water. I tried an Apple Watch and killed it just doing normal swimming and water park type stuff. Will I be good with a fenix 7 pro?? Thanks
Great review as always, i didn't feel the need for an upgrade from the Fenix 6X to 7X, however after seeing this video of the new 7 Pro Series, I was convinced. I just purchased the the 7X Pro Sapphire solar and i love it. Thanks very much!
Can't wait to pick this up for 500 bucks in 3 years. It's not a joke, I seriously can't wait but also can't justify 1k on a watch right now Also great review, I watched Chase the Summit and DC's vids first and still had no idea the MIP display had improved as much as it did. I was atarting to sway to the dark (epix) side, but this will help the Fenix a ton.
Maybe less than 3 years... In 2021 I bought a brand new 945 for 260€ while the retail price was still around 500€. Sometimes you can pick real good second-hand deals only 1 or 2 years after the launch 🤞
@@highseastrader4190 Nah, it's more like I just bought my Fenix 6 when the 7 was released. I don't mind being a generation behind when it means I get all the bug fixes, all the variations have been released and I can get a new watch at 40-50% what it retailed at launch. Especially when it does far more than I'll ever need it too. But I can't say no if I happen upon one at a really good price before I'm done with my 6, some guys out there are constantly trading watches, can't argue with them when it comes to getting one cheap.
@@sfygy32 Better is subjective. I was cross shopping the Fenix 6 with the Instinct 2 Solar at the time. The Fenix was slightly more than I was looking to spend but contained full topo mapping and routing, whereas the instinct had an excellent battery life. The Fenix 6x Pro went on sale for the same price as the Instinct 2 Solar and made the decision for me. The Forerunner line, outside of the 955, is really of no interest to me. They are simply worse in ways that mattered to me at my time of purchase.
When I was running hardcore and doing sub-3 marathons, wrist based heart rate sensors weren’t around yet. Honestly, all the sensors and data really don’t make you a better athlete; just do the work outs. GPS accuracy and battery life are the most important things. What I love about the Fenix series is that case and sapphire glass and full color maps. Add in solar charging and the flashlight and I’m considering the upgrade from a Fenix 6 Pro Sapphire.
Its nice they improved on the MIP colors. I put my Enduro 2 on the second from the highest brightness and i have no display/battery issues. Enduro 2 is still a good purchase but if i had to call it an upgrade, definitely 7xpro. Thanks again 👍🏾
Just here justifying my purchase of a 7 pro solar sapphire after seeing it discounted to £470 at John Lewis! Hope I don’t miss the Epix standard amoled, this will be my first MIP Watch
@@T3CHKN0to shock everyone here…I actually retuned it! Like the review. I've been looking for a review that would compare the Fenix7 pro Sapphire with the Enduro2 Saphire, but don't seem to find one. Seem the main differences are the HR sensor Gen4 vs Gen5 and some comments suggest that the Enduro2 has a weaker contrast/not so clear image on the screen. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you for this. What are your thoughts on wearing the watch on your ankle for times when you can't have it on your wrist (I'm a massage therapist) or for during some sports like mountain biking?

Thank you for this review. Looking to switch to Garmin. Looking at the Fenix 7 Pro Solar, as I want to go into UTMs. But quite pricey in South Africa still. Will check out Black Friday deals or see if the rumours are true of the Fenix 8 release next year, that might push the prices down a bit. Hopefully the ZAR doesn't keep on tanking against USD, EUR and GBP.
So when bicycling do you guys recommend flipping the watch over so that the sensor us up against the inside of your wrist for easier access to your pulse?
Some may have better results with that orientation but most often times people just wear it facing up. I'd just say if you're not getting OK results facing up to try it facing down.
Have you had problems with wrist-based accuracy on other watches? If so, is the new sensor much better? I had a Fenix 6 and it would lose my HR at about 120bpm and then start to half the reading... Awful. I'm wondering how the new sensors would do with me? I have a whoop 4.0 now, and it seems to be spot on. Thanks for your comments.
I'm impressed. Garmin seems to have implemented a lot of useful features (solar, map overlays) that the new MIP G-Shocks are missing. I have just one question: MIP G-Shocks have a very low screen refresh rate, so the stopwatch does only seconds, which is lame. How does the Garmin stopwatch functions on a MIP screen?
Hello, Can you please confirm if the compass on the new Pro models is also highly sensitive and affected by the movement of the strap? (Was this an issue with the seventh-generation models)
Great review , i can't seem to get an answer for this question, even from Garmin. I want the brightest led light, i would normally go for the fenix 7 pro 47 mm, but if the led is bigger and brighter on the fenix 7x pro then i would get the 51 mm, not sure if it is brighter, it's definitely got a bigger led light screen but that might be just bigger for aesthetics.
@@DesFit Hello! Please tell me, Enduro 2 have all programs as new Fenix 7x Pro ? And what is now top Enduro 2 or Fenix 7x Pro ? Now I have a choice of what to buy, but I don’t know what to choose
I had both, the epix was nice, but for me the pretty screen wasn’t needed. The f7 pro is nice enough with nice colors and contrast and the backlight is much better now. The difference in display between the fenix and epix wasn’t big enough for me to justify keeping the epix. Also, the epix isn’t bike friendly, when you use the watch as a bike computer and put it on your bike! The display wants to turn off, and there’s no always on backlight for the epix. To each their own.
I only run one day a week, but do a lot of HIIT and CrossFit type workouts. I think the Fenix may be more than I need. Does Garmin have a more affordable model that has the features like Pulse Ox, HRV, Stress, Training readiness, body battery
I really need a tactix 7 vs new Fenix 7 Ppro comparison. Specially the display, brightness, visibility in sunlight, brightness with solar and non-solar.
If it’s any help I have had both, and the screen is noticeably clearer with the F7X Pro vs T7 Solar. The contrast is better, but also the brightness levels are better. My unscientific guesstimate is 40% brightness on the F7XP = 60% on T7 Solar. Also, I think the Enduro 2 screen is clearer than T7. However, Auto-Brightness is poor, and hopefully that will be improved in a future firmware update. Hope this helps.
Hey Boomix, I'm planning a more tactical review review of the 7Pro Sapp Solar. I have some interesting feedback more suited to my mil/L.E brothers and sisters out there.
The 42mm Pro doesn't have an orange button top right - Does this mean that it has different funcionality than the standard size with the orange button? If that has any potential ECG function on the standard watch will that be missing on the 42mm?
Apparently they are variable but thats just what I noticed is the outer ones firing up during activities. Likely contributes to battery life savings I would imagine too.
@@DesFit Would love a feature to change that.. Just fire them all up 24/7, beacause my bold guess is that there not that big of a difference from the old sensor to this with everyday use
May come down to the activities that you do which may risk damaging the watch. Gorilla glass is generally fine if there’s no impacts like let’s say a crash on a bike.
nice nice.... how about the new solar panel? is it this time doing any effect? on my 7X it seems the solar panel isn't providing any energy plus even in brigthest sunlight :( that is very disapointing.
@@DesFit that is a pitty .... i wear the most time of my life casio g-shocks and all the solar models doesn't need to be charged. hoped that the new pro model has got an more efficent panel 😕 also en eSIM is missing like the apple watch. that would make it round in total.
hi, great content as usuall 👍👍✅✅; In my opinion a lot of people will grabb discounted 7series without pro. but if more options exist that better for everyone with personal chooses.
@@DesFit Thanks, you are very helpful. I was on my way to buy the regular 7s sapphire solar, but at this point i will go for the pro instead.
Are all LEDS on the sensor only activated during activities?
Apparently they are variable but thats just what I noticed is the outer ones firing up during activities. Likely contributes to battery life savings I would imagine too.
@@DesFit Would love a feature to change that.. Just fire them all up 24/7, beacause my bold guess is that there not that big of a difference from the old sensor to this with everyday use
Question for you, is it worth getting the sapphire version or is the gorilla glass strong enough?
May come down to the activities that you do which may risk damaging the watch. Gorilla glass is generally fine if there’s no impacts like let’s say a crash on a bike.
hey bro is that watch garmin fenix 7 pro compatible with all ios devices thanks
I wonder what material is more scratch resistant stainless steel vs. titanium, and black vs. silver.
In general, stainless steel but both can be scratched
epix or fenix ? which is best?
Hi, Can you help me find "Device Battery Charge" graph?
Is this a touch screen and how fluid is it?
Yup it's a touchscreen. You can see how it works in my original Fenix 7 video (it works exactly the same): ua-cam.com/video/3620mR7nZL8/v-deo.html
Des, what’s the watch face that’s on the Enduro at 4:39?
It's a stock watch face on the Enduro 2 - the 6th option in the list
my garmin fenix 7 pro sapphire solar only indicate 18 days battery life?
nice nice.... how about the new solar panel? is it this time doing any effect? on my 7X it seems the solar panel isn't providing any energy plus even in brigthest sunlight :( that is very disapointing.
Solar charging capabilities are the same from the Fenix 7 Pro to the Fenix 7 where it delays discharge but it's not meant to recharge the device.
@@DesFit that is a pitty .... i wear the most time of my life casio g-shocks and all the solar models doesn't need to be charged. hoped that the new pro model has got an more efficent panel 😕
also en eSIM is missing like the apple watch. that would make it round in total.
Those G Shocks have a much lower power display than the full color touchscreen display on the Fenix 7s which is a reason for the difference
@@DesFit thaht is right, but they also had a model with GPS an stuff. that also worked only by solar power ;) so they could if they want to. :D
That’s why they have the Instinct series where those use more similar displays to the G Shocks and can actually charge.
i wish the screen was brighter or had better contrast
what is the accuracy of the unit was in SatIQ mode? is it less than 1m?
Consumer satellite accuracy is around 3 meters regardless of manufacturer
hi, great content as usuall 👍👍✅✅; In my opinion a lot of people will grabb discounted 7series without pro. but if more options exist that better for everyone with personal chooses.
Would you be able to wear the Fenix 7 Pro whilst doing boxing, bag work, would it not become unstable on your wrist when hitting pads or the bag?
i would not keep it on
Ara all The 7s pro solar sapphire in titanium or just the black one?
Just the black one, the soft gold pro sapphire has a stainless steel bezel.
@@DesFit Thanks, you are very helpful. I was on my way to buy the regular 7s sapphire solar, but at this point i will go for the pro instead. Too bad the Black one is the only choice for titanium (7 grams difference in terms of weight) instead of the the 4 options. I really like the dark bronze one.
