Well I was thinking it shouldn't be that hard to get going again... but then I saw the missing rocker cover! I bet the engine has more water than oil in it at this stage!
British version of the diesel brothers with less beards, less drama, significantly less time promoting shit nobody wants and much less fucking about. More getting the job done. Excellent.
I'm amazed Phil didn't find any flints, he's mad for bits of flint. Mick would have said it was probably a religious structure. And Tony would have jumped into the trench without asking first. :D
How come it takes Dave Heavy D Sparks and 20 other dudes and 10 vehicles to recovery something like this and you pair can do it with a few tools and and a 38 year old recovery truck.... Keep up the great work
It'll be because Daves got a pile of money to buy fancy crap and make a movie production out of everything, this guys just running what he was given and getting it done L.O.L
Proper technique on using & tightening a bow shackle is NOT to tighten the pin up hard but back it off half a turn from finger tight otherwise they will tighten right up under load & distortion.
I don't feel like there's enough UK equivalents of all these American channels that go out in the sticks and recover abandoned heavy equiptment. Would love to see more like this 👍
And what a Testament to the Foden Recovery Vehicle to all those that never saw this "beast" working in the Military. It can do a lot more. Good old British Engineering.
Heavy D would have a crew of 15, turn up in a fleet of unsuitable vehicles, including a helicopter for reasons no one has ever been able to work out. Perhaps he just likes to flex. The title would be" Our Most Dangerous Mountaintop Recovery, Ever! Will We Die?" Most of the video would be him talking about how great he is, which is his favourite subject, or plugging some dodgy sponsored product, while Alan does all the actual work. Brakes are spring applied pressure released, feed oil to the fitting at the brake housings next to final drive (hose you removed), a hand pump with a suitable hose(JIC fittings) will release the brakes. Gotta love the fact the Clarke & Dawe sketch lives on from generation to generation - it’s over 30 years old now - and a classic… And the front fell off…..
I used it in my local bar last week with the Aussie barman, he just rolled his eyes in weariness. Sorta says it all, Australia's version of the parrot sketch.
We all love a will it run video! Also I’ve seen enough people trying this and mostly, if it won’t run it’ll never move. Well people with tank recovery equipment don’t seem to have that problem. Nice work.
You wouldn't have done almost nothing without the powerful Foden, a great vehicle 👍! But now I'm very curious about this excavator with blocked tracks but I'm sure you will managed it good as you are 👍👍👍
Great to watch the Foden truck's recovery winch pull the excavator (with non rotating tracks) as if it was a go cart! I can only imagine the force required to move the excavator; 60,000 lbs (roughly 27,000 kg) or more would be my guess. I hope the old Caterpillar excavator becomes a new project soon; it should be interesting!
Excellent to see you putting your resources to a normal civvy reclamation job. Foden is King!! I wonder how a modern recovery truck would compare with it. You had better check with your friend if he wants it started, I am sure you would succeed.

need to get a big single axle with truck wheels, and small platform for the tracks to sit on ,lift it up and put the axle under the middle of both tracks, undo the hydrolic lines and fold the arm and bucket in, and chain it, then tow from the bucket, done in an hour, and on the road without having to get a trailer
"There's a shed in the way" "Don't worry it'll move" . Tbh I was half expecting the Foden to find an uncapped mineshaft or a basement whilst reversing as you were reversing over old buildings of some sort. Also why wasn't Jack singing "I Ho, I Ho" whilst pulling that cable out? 😂
