I have watched hundreds of videos. These videos are the best I have ever seen. The video on long irons was the best of the best. He actually shows what to do with your hands. A critical point that you almost never seen explained in learning videos. Keep up the great work.

' Loosen the screw '. Best piece of advice I think I've ever had. Tried it with irons, woods and driver and my ball striking has improved dramatically. Thank you.

Your videos are awesome. I have watched numerous other you tube golf videos that it really became confusing on the correct techniques as there was a ton of contradictions. Your explanation and teaching method as improved my game by 5 strokes in two weeks! I'm
hooked!! Thank you! My name is NOT
really now read..somehow in setup the computer must have used what i probably said out loud during setup.

I began subscribing to your videos just a couple of weeks ago. Something you said in a chipping video clicked with me. I have been using it throughout my game for the last couple of games and it has improved my ball striking no end. The tip was to consciously decelerate the backswing to a stop before then starting the downswing. I have suffered with inconsistent striking for years. I have been told by friends that it all starts with my backswing. Finally I now know of a method which makes sense. I would really like you to explore this aspect of the backswing in future videos. Thank you.

I've struggled for months skying the ball and hitting high on the face. That drill with the iron helped me be conscious of keeping my shoulders down instead of hammering down on the ball. I have much more confidence with my driver thanks to your videos. Thanks Mr Short Game!

Matt, this was awesome! I will start paying attention to where I'm hitting on the clubface. I don't even know! I don't know how inconsistent I am, either. I imagine improved technique will increase consistency, whereas what you're teaching here will help me move that impact point. Thanks!

Excellent information. Like to add: I'm 76. Losts lots of distance until I started lining up my driver clubhead 6-8 inchess behind ball. Got all my distance plus yards back. Why? Seems easier to get speed through the shot at maximum speed and extension. Try it and see what you think. Maybe will work for other seniors.

This video helped me a lot. By using the spray method i discovered something that was a big aha moment. The shaft of my driver is 1 and 1/4" to long. I Thought my swing was terrible but by moving my hands down on the shaft a bit, the face of the driver squared up and i can now consistently hit out of the middle of the face. This brings to mind a good video topic on hitting the driver. "is the shaft on your driver to long?" Love your videos. They have helped me improve as a golfer (weekend hack) immensely.

One tip for those struggling with good contact aside from what's mentioned here. Make sure you set up consistently every single time with your stance and distance to the ball. You may also want to narrow your stance as it leads to over-winding your body and over-extending your rear leg. This was a big issue that was brought to my attention during a lesson.

  • @grigsbypoland3203

I'm a senior golfer dealing with decreased flexibility and club speed so I really appreciate all of your videos directed at improving the game of us older players. When it comes to my driver, I have a natural tendency to drive my right elbow into my right side/hip during my downswing (which I believe is one of your suggestions if memory serves correctly) but I think it causes me to lock up so I have a really hard time getting the club face closed at impact which causes a fade or slice 80-90% of the time. I've tried the "turning the screw" method you described and recommended about 5 months ago but I jammed my right thumb so severely doing that I couldn't grip anything with it very well for about 4 months. It's now been 5 months since I tried that move and I still can't apply enough pressure to open a new jar of pickles with my right hand. Any suggestions about how to stop driving my elbow down and inside OR how to get my hands to turn over and close the club face in spite of that move? FWIW, I'm 5' 5 1/2" and have a wrist/floor measurement of 32" so I cut my driver down to 44" when I bought it and have subsequently had pretty decent success striking the ball when I choke down another 1".

I once was given a tip to watch the ball in the spot you'd hit it when going in to out. I used to just watch on top of yhe ball and had a bit of a problem comin out to in. That tip alone fixed it a lot for me. Basically it's the same than putting that alignment stick there in a 45 degree angle, but I still use my tip even when playing on course. Just to give me a better chance to hit it like I want it. The last part of my checklist on address.

I have found, with my driver especially, setting up at address using a single plane Moe Norman swing maintaining the spine angle with stable feet and flexed legs will help keep my spine angle consistent with no need to come up out of the swing will help me hit the sweet spot.

I experience the same "low" ball strike points on the clubface. I'm not a tall guy (5'11") and I was looking at your video and myself standing thought that standing taller would cause me to move closer to the ball and would change my swing path into the ball. Any advice or thoughts on how you feel about this?

Most people hit off the toe because of muscle contraction from swinging too hard... Teaching someone to duck hook or snap hook a ball is a bad method in my opinion... First address thier ball flight and characteristics... Slice off the toe or hooking off the toe? Then swing path or muscle tension... Thanks for the videos

My old mans driver is twenty years old. Maybe I should invest in a larger faced driver. Maybe it would calm my nerves and help me strive for a greater sense of confidence. I’d love for my first drive on the first hole to be executed with a much greater degree of success. I certainly deserve a better result. With all the obsessive thought going into my game. Imagine the sacrifice, I don’t think about sex as much! Maybe golf is great for married couples.
